I went into clockwork recovery to flash the new bionix -v rom so i took the steps selected it in boot up it installed and i went back out and selected reboot now.
SO then like the moron that i am it didnt reboot right away so i waited about 30 seconds nothing came on. So took the battery out and put it back in. now it wont even turn on. ive even tried my jig with wont come on at all is it screwed. please tell me its not...
Go to the Bible and read up. I am guessing you probably need to use a usb cord plugged into the phone hold down the volume and start buttons then plug into the computer (make sure you already got Odin up)... that may be the way to get it to respond then odin back to JFD stock.
READ THE BIBLE this is in there somewhere it is the best source.

Did you come from a voodoo enabled ROM?
WHY did you do this?! It's stated so clear that it takes a long time on first boot, and you wait 30 seconds? My phone doesn't even boot normally (not off a fresh install) in 30 seconds. I've never had to use download mode, but I hear it can be pretty tricky so try all the methods you find many times to make sure it in fact doesn't work. But you'll definitely have to ODIN it looks like. Or you could go to T-Mobile and say you tried to use the 2.2 update from Samsung and it bonked your phone and see how sympathetic they are.
I think he means the screen was completely black for 30 seconds after he hit reboot. Bad sbl flash and hard brick most likely.
Happened to me when I tried to flash Nero for the first time. After a bit of tinkering I was able to Odin back to stock an then I just reflashed. Haven't had a problem since.
Make sure to disable voodoo.

Could you be a little clearer with these directions I would certainly be willing to try this method. However, since this has happened leaving the phone on the charger for anything over ten minutes it becomes pretty hot. Not that it really matters, I don't think the phone could be any more borked at this point.

I just tried to update my phone to JI6.. I was rooted, with no lag fixes or GPS fixes ever applied. Update didn't work, just left me at the "Vibrant" screen for 30+ minutes. I tried to fix with Odin and JI6 file, but I unplugged the phone while in download mode before Odin started. Now I'm stuck at the "phone ! computer" icon. I've tried holding both volume keys and power while the phone is plugged in to the computer and then inserting the battery, but this doesn't work. I've also tried holding them all down after it goes to that screen, and it reboots, but always comes back to the same screen.
Did I brick my Vibrant completely?
This has been posted 2 billion and a half times already. You can still get into download mode. Just do what you would normally do to get into download mode but hold the buttons for a little longer until download mode comes up. Seriously, please use the search button people.
Your problem is you shouldnt be touching power to get into download mode.
First open odin.
Remove battery, put battery back in
Hold voth volume keys, do not touch power. Then plug in usb. Continue holding volume keys for a few seconds.
Or the way you were doing it. Remove battery, plug in usb, hold only the volume keys, then put the battery back in.

i've tried this a million times, is there any other way to get passed the phone ! computer screen? i've tried every single combination of button holds, battery removes and usb plugging and nothing other that that screen will come up.
You are not bricked. Follow these steps EXACTLY:
1. remove battery, sim and sd
2. Open Odin
3. Connect usb to phone
4. Hold down both volume keys and power
5. but battery back in
6. once the screen blinks, let go of the power button
7. keep holding both volume keys until the downloading screen starts
8. Flash back to stock. I always go back to stock after something like this just to make sure that nothing got corrupted. Also check the re-partition option.
9. Point and laugh at your phone with an evil henchman kind of laugh. The bastard didn't defeat you yet!!!
no luck doing that, only ever shows the phone ! computer screen

please keep us updated as to what happens. I had the same problem with my first Vibrant but I had borked it with Voodoo. Even though I COULD get into download mode, ODIN would never work to fix it, even with repartition checked. It would just say "DO NOT UNPLUG TARGET!" and stayed there for hours. For this reason I am VERY leary of using ODIN again. Luckily, my local T-mo was nice enough to replace the phone for me, no questions asked.
I really want to find a ROM or something I can flash with clockwork to get me back on the JFD baseband because I have a stock kernel and a nandroid that is stock with root, then I can just use the 1-click unroot and do the OTA and not have to use ODIN. At least that's my theory
Just keep trying it
I had this problem yesterday I unplugged early while doing a odin flash and because Odin had stopped responding then when I pulled the battery and tried to start the phone I kept getting the phone ! Computer notification on my phone what I did was pulled the battery and connect the phone to the usb cable and hold the up and down volume keys at the same exact time I was plugging it in. the phone looked like it was going to showed a loading screen like the battery icon was about to pop up but it then went black and the download screen popped up... Ta Da... Don't give up so easy I didn't get it on my first time either took me about 45 minutes before I got it to work download mode is tricky even without a soft brick my friend so just keep swimming
Please Help me
I have the same problem, and hardware locked. i bougth from other guy in craiglist, T-mobile say cant do nothing for me, because the IMEI number is of the other account not me. and the guy dont respond my calls. the phone is 10/10 new. just try update with odin and this has bricked.
somebody can help me with ideas
Try this, it is slightly different from what the guy earlier said..
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have Odin OPEN with admin privileges!
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
Continue holding the volume keys & you should pop into DOWNLOAD mode within a few seconds
It worked for me when I did this.

Personally i don't believe the hardware locked issue, i got mine in late August, has the same manufacturing date as many others who claim to be locked, and I have never had an issue getting into recovery or dl mode. There is a ton of information out there on this, seek and ye shall find, just be ready to do a ton of reading, take your time and don't get frustrated. Its OK to walk away and take a break, do something else for a bit and recharge your mental.

I was getting the phone vs computer screen last night. I had flashed the J16 official tar using Odin. Everything went perfect. Phone restarted at 1st try with no issues. I then re-rooted phone again with no problems. Then I went to load the segmented battery icon. When the phone booted up, I got FC messages and it wouldn't actually get to the home screen. I decided to reflash J16 and Odin failed. The screen went from the download screen to a black screen. I had to pull the battery and try again. When I tried to put it in download mode again, I got the phone~pc screen. I just did a battery pull again and when I tried again, I got the phone~pc screen again but I just kept holding the volume and power buttons and it eventually went into download mode again. That time I was successful in loading J16. I re-rooted and left it at that.
--WHEW--
I tried to upgrade to froyo using the odin method from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853950. After everything was successfully done my phone shut off and now it won't turn on. I don't get a battery charge screen or anything. The phone's just blank.....
First, Get the Shipping rom (pit and tar files) so you can ODIN back to stock
Be sure you have the newest version of ODIN
Then remove the battery, plug the USB to the PC.
Now put the battery back.
Press both vol keys (up and down) and hold.
That should get you in Download Mode.
If it does not work, take battery out, unmplug USB.
Put battery back and try again to go into download mode.
Now you put the wrong version of froyo, if your keys maps are changed you may be screwed
If so, good luck! You are gonna need a lot of research to see if you can save it
i think i'm screwed.....nothing is working
If anyone else could help me with this, it would be great. I'm in between a rock and a wall right now with my phone.
you flashed the wrong rom. You didn't know that, did you?

Hehehehe...I bricked mine yesterday. I disabled voodoo via Voodoo Toggle and waited for Linda to convert. I loaded up Odin and put in my pit & tar for JFD, which I always use, and hit start. I was on Nero v3 going to flash Nero v4 when it came out. I got a Fail part of the way through. The phone won't power on at all.....A popup says Windows can't recognize the device plugged into usb...
I think people are confusing things here and there...if your phone won't power on at all, you can't get help...you can't get into download mode to odin or recover it.
Like mine, for instance, there is no amount of times taking the battery out or doing this or that is gonna fix it..We need to read the post before we try to offer help...IF IT WON'T POWER ON how can people post ways to ODIN or RECOVER...
I'm just sayin....

Well right now I'm simply trying to get the phone to turn on which it won't, I was not asking for help to odin or recover. I was trying to ask if anyone else had this problem and if my phone is totally killed or if there's a possibility that i can save it. But thanks for your 2 cents.
Me too
I had ordered Samsung Vibrant Unlocked from T-Mobile USA around a month back. I am well past the 30 day replacement now.
I Rooted it updated to Axura 2.2.5.9
After all the procedure got completed, I rebooted the phone and now it just won't start at all.
My piece is Hardware Locked wherein I can't get into the Recovery Mode, but can get into the Download Mode. But I am not even able to get into the Download mode now.
It just won't freaking turn on.
If I send it over for repair, as the phone is a rooted one, will I void the warranty ?
Please reply quickly. I am starting to freak out.

This way has NEVER worked for me without holding the power button. This phone was in all senses of the word "DEAD". I figured I would give it a try with just the volume keys.

I have a similar problem with my Vibrant.
I reset my battery stats and also disabled VooDoo lagfix, and after i tried to reboot the phone, it froze on the vibrant screen.
I tried using soome of the methods that you guys posted before me, but then after i turn it on it shows an icon that there is a connection problem between the phone and PC.
I CAN turn on the phone, is there a way to just like reset everything? and if so how?

If your phone powers on at all, you should be able to get into DL mode. Follow the instructions on how to revert to stock via ODIN.
In reply to the OP, if you tried the download mode method:
connect phone to usb
pull out battery
hold both volume sticks
put in batttery
and the phone still does not turn on even after multiple tries , well you're a bit screwed. But, Samsung cannot detect if the phone has been rooted if it cannot even turn on. Just tell them the Kies Mini update bricked the phone.
omg leave ur phone on charger for 10 min, pull battery out when hooked up to charger put battery back in , let sit for few min pull battery out hook up phone to computer hold vol up vol down pop battery in , helped ? np this has been answered gazilion times in other threads
btw it takes few try this way to get it back up running so dont stop on first , hey .

You're talking about a DIY Jig. A JTAG is completely different. They cost $150-300. You can pay to have a local repair shop jtag it for around $50 or send it to Samsung to repair/replace. I'm still trying to find out how much Samsung would charge for the repair if it's deemed out of warranty.
If your phone refuses to turn on no matter what you do and it gets warm or hot if you leave the battery in it, read on:
I hope my suggestion is not too late. I was in the situation before. I tried everything everyone said here and somewhere else. None of them works.
The reason that those methods don't work because you cannot get to download or recovery mode or even the pc-phone screen since your phone won't turn on. The reason that your phone doesn't turn on because the bootloader has been messed up. A jig will work only if your phone can be turned on somehow.
Three possible solutions:
1. Repair or replace it with T-mobile, or
2. Get someone to repair it with a riff box or other similar tool, or
3. Get the box and fix it yourself (not recommended if you are not familiar with electronic stuff.)
This is the link for the same problem you have; this guy bought the box and has his phone fixed himself. If you live in US, he may do it for you if you have no place to go. It does hurt to ask.

I did the same thing to my first Vibrant. It all worked out though, cuz the phone i got back was manufactured after October '10 so it had the hardware GPS fix.

Hello,
Don't know if this has been asked but I have been looking for it for a while. Cant seem to fine a solution.
I flashed my phone wrong with hemdall now my phone wont turn on. Screen completely black i reboot pulled out the battery everything I can think of can you give me a suggestion. I was thinking about buying a USB Jig.
I'm in the same boat and I bought the Jig. However I think Josh just acts as a middle man on this one and shipping is actually from overseas. But you can find it here. http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-download-mode-jig/ I suggest a little extra shipping cost.
However the other suggestion if that is not working (I think I killed my phone) is to have Josh do a Jtag on the phone. You can find that at http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-vibrant-jtag-brick-repair/
Can you get into download mode? Remove battery, plug usb, press up+down vol buttons and insert battery.
hey i having same problem but i could see the vibrant samsung screen but my phone won't pass that and like you say about the usb cable and then plugging the battery i can do that as well but how can i get my phone back and running another rom!!!

If you can see the Vibrant Samsung screen just use Odin to flash back to stock

The real solution here i doing a JTAG to your phone or make the Unbrickable MOD (It's very dangerous, a person with Welding and electronic skills must do this).
Another thing you can do is buy a broken Screen phone from Ebay (it more cheaply) and change the motherboard!!
My suggestion would be to continue to try to get into Download mode on the phone. My phone was DEAD no life at all plugged into the wall or PC. I kept trying to get it into download mode and magically after hours of failures, ODIN recognized the device! The phone was still DEAD no life at all on the screen but ODIN had recognized that my device WAS indeed connected. So I continued to flash back to stock and as always with a little patience ODIN was there to save me. The phone automatically rebooted after ODIN was done and BOOM! Good2Go
Goodluck!
^^I'm gonna try that and hopefully with some patience it will work. Otherwise I'm also gonna be ordering a jig, they're not that expensive. My problem is the same as the OP's. My vibrant will just not give any signs of life. I was trying to odin to stock from one cosmics ics RC3.1. Wanted to start on a fresh install for AOKP build 25. But then odin decided to fail on modem.bin. then it just hung and phone turned off, haven't been able to turn it on since. I've spent the last two hours trying to put in different combinations and keys and usb attachments to bring any hints of life, but so far nothing. Bootloader update was not checked on odin so I'm pretty confident that its not due to bootloader mismatch but someone correct me if I'm wrong. Sending it back to samsung or tmobile is very far of an option since I've modified the phone to add FFC. If anyone has any advice or hints it would be greatly appreciated. I'm kind of hating myself and flashing now since I was very happy with the rom that I had and how everything was setup. I just wanted to try something new for fun and this went and blew everything up.
^^I literally held down the buttons > plugged in the cord > put in the battery > and counted in my head the amount of seconds it took the phone to "normally" boot to where I would "normally" let go of the power button to get into Download mode, lol I know it sounds ridiculous but that's how I did it. It helped that I had my sisters working Vibrant right there, I used her phone to get into download mode and timed the process and used that as a baseline for the timing of trying to get the "DEAD" Vibrant into download mode.
If all else fails a JTAG as mentioned should fix your problem fosho!
Goodluck!
Ye I fixed it. One day I did what I had been doing the whole time and it just decided to work. Got into download mode then went back to stock. Our phone is so freaking weird yet I love the damn thing. It really is unbrickable. To anyone in this situation just never give up.

I posted a thread asking about resting my binary count to 0, i got a reply saying flash the zip via cwm then flash the stock rom and i wouldnt loose root so in which i did the first part and flashed the counter reset zip in cwm
the flash went through phone shut off and wont reboot??????
Ive tried a battery pull ive tried to get it into odin even plugged in charger no activity now at all, and the device was perfectly fine before this crap!!
If it won't power on at all you may he hard bricked. You can try a Jig but that may be hit or miss if you can't get it to work. You can do warrenty on it just say the phone shut off and won't power back on. I did this with my galaxy s2 I-777 when I hard bricked.
Edit: Just seen that you have insurance on it. I would just do a claim and get a new one.

Ya i know thats an option but still wtf , its like when someone develops the hack to do such a task as resetting a binary count they should also have a explanation on why or what happens if it doesnt work.. If everyone does it the same way there shouldnt be an error, it just doesnt match up.
I had a perfectly fine working phone and did the flash as said to,, i shoulnbt have to go through a rediculous claim.
I had 90% battery charge ive donbe batt pull done the download mode method tried to plug it into pc and wall outlet
the odd thing is my pc recognizes the device like its in some state of recovery but the phones screen stays black
The pc says qhsusb dload when i plug in the phone to my laptop of course with the screen still black is that a good thing?
Does that qhsusb dload mean something

That is the risk of customizing your device. But if your computer still reads it you may still be OK. Buy a Jig or search YouTube on how to make one and see if that works. Also you can keep trying to put it into download mode and get Odin to see it. Worse case seniero you will have to do a claim on it. Sucks I know when I HB my s2 I was freaking out cussing and looked like a crazy person flipping off my phone lol
Grab a beer take a few and then try again

That's one of the reasons I have not tried the counter reset hack yet. AFAIK it's only cosmetic and shows up when you enter download mode. From what I understand it doesn't affect the phone functionality anyway. Mine is up to 48 now. I guess i will see if I can make it to 100... it might reset after 99, hehe.
