Hello.
First of all, to make ppl less irritated of this thread as there are several threads about this problem. Ive searched, looked, noticed that ppl has this similiar problem, but I still cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
However, to the point.
Ill let you know, step by step what I have done, to make it a bit simple for you to help me.
Ive downloaded a couple of files, named Freex10-beta.zip, gapps_1901_Freex10-zip, xRecovery and Busybox.
All of these files (exclude Busybox which I installed from the market) were copied into the sd memory card, the root of the sd card.
I rooted my phone with the software, superoneclick.
I installed xRecovery and busybox (busybox says that my phone is rooted), then I opened xRecovery and clicked install, without any problems, the three locations got green. Means succesfull?
Now to the problem, I turned of my phone, switched it on and clicked the back buttom. Got stuck at the Sony Ericsson logo. Stinks!
Please, I really want to upgrade my phone. Cant stand out that ppl has the 2.2 while im still on 2.1 official
Version: 2.1-update1
Kernel version: 2.6.29
Edit.
Stuffs Ive tried out:
- Removing the battery for a couple of seconds
- Tapped the back buttom once, twice, three times and so on. Doesnt work for me.
EDIT ONCE AGAIN (READ):
Due to the new update for the X10HD I was able to run the xRecovery. There was nothing wrong with the setup I made however if any1 has the same problem as I do. Please enter this thread and go to the buttom of the first post and you will find an apk. file named xRecovery-0.2-X10HD-release.apk ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571 ).
Follow this howto if you got problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908791
AND! Thousend thanks for the support members, love to you all!
you must click the back button several times to access xRecovery.

Thanks for the reply, but I have already tried that. Ive tried to push it one time, two, three and even held it as long as I can. Nothing works.
I am going to give it a last shot from the beginning, going to unroot the phone and do everything from step one.
However, got any other clues why I am occuring this problem?
remove the battery, wait for few minutes, insert it again and tap it several times. it worked for me.
hi! i have the same problem though i cant access xrecovery menu now that i am on free x10.. what i did before flashing to freex10 is exactly what you are doing but with additional.. try this, it worked for me
download gscript lite from the market.. then do what you did earlier, installing busybox, pressing install xrecovery then, after installing xrecovery menu.. do this..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895351
hope i helped you in a way.. :] i always do that for me to access recovery menu, though i cant make that now because at beta3 it is not allowed to reinstall busybox and xrecovery (if i did ill get FC loop)..

Thanks, Ive installed Gscript lite but I cant seem to find any damn files when I press load. Maybe my version is to new for Gscript lite?
It shouldnt have to be this hard to do something like this! Wasted hours and hours trying to find solutions, but hell no nothing is working god damnit :/
Edit. When I press List SD-card all the files inside the SD shows up in a blue screen
for automatic xRecovery you must have : superuser, busybox, root permissions..
so if you don't have that, automatic xRecovery doesn't work.

I have these three files installed, Ive managed to install the xRecovery but not been able to enter it when I boot my phone.
Do you think it has to do with my version of the x10, I have 2.0.2.A something maybe it doesnt work with my version?
you have 2.1?
it doesn't matter.
Well then I find it strange as hell! Why me of all the ppl around here, I cant be that noobie?
Busybox says that my phone is rooted, I am able to install xRecovery, I get all the three things marked as green, which means succesfully installed, I have superuser, or else I wouldnt be able to install them.
What am I doing wrong, has any1 out there been through this problem and solved it?
I did the same thing as you.. I rebooted. when the white SE logo show up.. I tapped the back button several times and xRecovery showed up..

try THIS tool and check HERE how to use it.
side note: if still got problems flash again (you can use the tool)
side note: you can use any other button to enter on xRecovery yet do not use home button `cause if you enter on it will reboot

Thanks for the reply.
I went into the link, but as Ive understood, you are not able to install the custom rom for 2.2 froyo. Only switch between 1.6 and 2.1.
And also some other more stuffs, however, can you confirm that it is possible to install the custom 2.2 froyo rom with the flash tool?
Thanks

No man. The idea is for you to get xrecovery to work.
Use that tool for that.
The other idea i left is: if you still cant get that to work flash again and follow the rest of the guide.
Ah I see well I will it a shot but First I must ask something that I find abit weird.
When I install busybox, u are able to choose 2 directories where you want it installed. Either in "system/bin" (works fine) and "/data/local/tmp" (does not work).
Or nevermind seems to be working now, strange.. before it says that I need nand unlocked?
However, my point is that I am trying to use a app called gScript, but when I load "xRecovery.sh" it says:
stderr: mkdir failed for /data/local/tmp/
xrecovery, File exists
stderr: mount: Device or resource busy
stderr: rm: failed for -rf, Read-only file system
stderr: cp: cant stat 'sdcard/gscript/
chargemon': No such file or directory
stderr: cp: cant stat '/sdcard/gscript/
busybox': so such file or directory
However, I will now try to flash my phone and install xrecovery through it. But Id appreciate some help with my gScript 2
Edit 2:
Ive installed flash tool, it connects to my phone without problem.
I went into custom/apps/ and found a folder called xrecovery, which was empty so I dragged my xrecovery.apk file there, clicked customize ( Customize installs apps found in the custom/apps folder of the flashtool).
But I cannot read anything about xRecovery in the log:
28/014/2011 16:14:36 - INFO - Searching Adb Device
28/014/2011 16:14:36 - INFO - Device connected
28/014/2011 16:14:36 - INFO - Customize finished

I just installed the flash tool on the computer now, started flash tool but it does only support ftf files, what am I supposed to do with it?
You said I was going to install xrecovery correct with it, but xrecovery is not a ftf file so how am I supposed to flash it?

Is xrecovery the only program I can use to upgrade into a newer version?

INTRODUCTION & DISCLAIMER.
Please familiarize yourself with what you need to do before starting. I AM NOT responsible if you make a mistake somewhere and you break or brick your handset but if you follow my instructions 100% properly you will not drop your coffee and crash your Bugatti Veyron!
You can use this installation guide to flash custom roms that use a different baseband to your current one, the instructions follow the same procedures no matter which baseband you are on and flashing to so you can flash any rom for the x10i / x10a with the available basebands for download as long as the are compatible with each other.
If you install any rom based on 2.0.xx (basebands .46, .49, .52 you MUST have a 2.0.xx baseband installed. The same applys to 2.1.xx (basebands .54, .55, .58, .65, .67) or you will end in a bootloop unless you use a froyo baseband patch or gingerbread baseband patch (thanks cobrato). I will not provide instuctions here, please check the thread for detials.
For all custom roms avaible for us to use go here a big thanks to DoomLoRD and for basebands go here, thanks Rendeiro2005.

RECOMMENDED INSTALLION METHOD.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
For noobs, please bear in mind all your data (sms, call logs, bookmarks etc) will be wiped please back up with a backup app NOT the sony one because you wont be able to retrive these things when you finish. Do not try and restore system settings from your sony 2.1 rom onto any other rom.
1. YOUR X10 MUST be on Android 2.1 or higher
2. YOU MUST have your chosen rom on your SD card and your chosen rom's gapps if applicable. Make sure its on your sd card somewhere easy to find.
3. You will need Sony Ericsson Update Service or PC Companion and to have used it atleast once to install the drivers for the flash tool.
4. Use a file manger like Astro or similar to create a new folder at the root of your sd card (not inside any other folders). Call your new folder xrecovery and inside there make another new folder called backup, this is where your Nandroid or xrecovery back ups will be stored.
5. This isn't compulersy but I recommend using Zemna Applist Backup to back up market links for your apps for best stability and compatibility if your changing android versions. This makes a list of all your apps and saves a market link to download them again, you need to install the app when your done flashing to view the app list and download your apps again from the market.
INSTRUCTIONS.
1.On your phone go to settings/applications and make sure 'Unknown sources' is checked and then go to development and make sure USB debugging is checked.
2. Download the latest flash tool from here. You need to first root your phone, plug in the usb cable into your phone and pc but dont mount your sd card. Press the 'root' button and your phone will reboot. Then press the 'ask root permissions' button and get your phone and allow super user permission. Now its time to install xrecovery by pressing 'xrecovery' button.
3. First make a full back up with xrecovery. To enter xrecovery, you need to reboot your phone and as soon as you see that white 'sony ericsson' text press the back button repeatedly.
To navigate through recovery menu the controls are;
volume up rocker = move up
volume down rocker = move down
home key = enter (select)
back key = back one menu
touch screen has no effect only these hard keys work as described!
You need to move down to back up and restore, press home then select back up. Let it complete and after move to reboot and press enter and your phone will turn back on into 'normal' mode.
4. Then download the baseband for your rom, please check which baseband your rom needs. Some roms have modified baseband included in the rom download, always use these if provided by dev.
If you know how to use the flash tool please skip this section below, if not read how to bundle your baseband and kernal files below.
HOW TO BUNDLE YOUR BASEBAND & KERNAL FILES WITH THE FLASH TOOL.
A. Place your baseband files in the firmware folder within the flashtool. Now create a new folder with the name of your baseband and place the files inside there.
B. Click on advanced in the flash tool window and click create bundle. Now click on the drop down box to locate your baseband you just downloaded. So if you followed my instructions it should be in the firmware folder, open that then select the folder you created and put your files in. Press open.
A new menu should appear now, select all files from the left column and move them to the right column by pressing the right arrow.
Now you need to name your bundle.
>Enter model name: x10
>Baseband: enter your baseband
>Branding: enter which rom your going to be using.
C. The press OK or something similar in the bottom right corner. The flash tool is now making your files!
D. Now in the main menu of flashtool press the flash button and select the baseband you just created.
E. Flash it in flash mode. Flash Tool will ask you to connect in flash mode.
To enter Flash mode:
A. Switch off your phone
B. Reconnect the usb to the phone and at the same time keep the back key pressed continuously.
Instuctions continued.
4a. Turn on the phone but DO NOT LET IT BOOT FULLY, enter xrecovery as soon as you can. To install your chosen, enter xrecovery, choose install custom zip, press choose custom zip from sd card, locate your chosen rom, press install and wait for it finish.
4b. Then press reboot and then it run for abit to cache etc. It is normal if your handset reboots its self a few times at this point, do not worry this is supposed to happen. When its stopped lagging and running smoothly log into the your Google account. To do this go to settings/account and sync and then select google.
4c. Then reboot into xrecovery and flash gapps.
5. Most people wont have to do this but in any very rare cases where you reboot your phone and when it boots up and it won't pick up any signal you need to do this. Download terminal emulator from here.
5a. You will need to install it with xrecovery so make sure its on your sd somewhere easy to find. To install it enter xrecovery, choose install custom zip, press choose custom zip from sd card, locate the file, press install and wait for it finish then reboot the handset.
5b. Open android terminal emulator and type this Su *grant it super user permission and then press enter and then* killall servicemanager * and press enter*
So how it needs to look on the screen is as follows,
Su
Killall servicemanager
Your phone will automatically reboot and should return with signal, this is very rare and the system should most of the time do this its self.
6. When your done go back to xrec and do advanced data restore from your previous back up and all your apps and settings and home screen settings and saved games and sms and that will be there. This is not recommended if you are changing your version of android ie going from 2.1 - 2.2 or 2.2 - 2.3 or down grading ie 2.3 - 2.2 or 2.2 -2.1. A fresh install of your apps is best because for compatibility and stability.
To do an advanced data restore you must enter xrecovery, press back up and restore, press advanced restore, chooose your back up and then press data only.
Just read this post a couple of times first and make sure you understand, any questions feel free to ask.
FOOTER NOTES.
This guide is for everyone to use, credits go to the the various devs who have made the programs, firmwares, patches and other guides or tips used in this, I am simply writing instructions on how to use them. Hitting the thanks button wouldn't go a miss though.
For experienced users if you feel I have left out anything or have not been clear enough at any point please PM me and I shall amend this guide. If the devs do not want links to their work please PM and I shall remove them.
I wish I had something like this when I started out but I'm also very pleased to see its helped many people find their way

Thanks very much appreciated. Not bad considering all this was written from my handset. I kind of took over the .52 baseband thread so I though I should make my own for this as they are different completely.

All sounds about right....I can confirm all this works as it should having messed about and flashed just before steve got the tutorial together.
The only thing that has to be stressed:
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BETA 4 ON YOUR SD CARD BEFORE YOU DO IT AND DONT LET IT BOOT AFTER FLASHING THE NEW BASEBAND.
It does sound much harder than it is.
Wonderful tutorial. Just what I needed, thanks.
Cheers
Great guide Steve, makes it simple to update the baseband and FreeX10 Beta 4 and cuts down the need for the same old questions throughout different threads.
Job well done mate
Nice one Steve, at least it will stop some of the spamming with the same old questions over and over again, well done mate and because you did it off your phone.

no I don't think so, just look at the first post of Z's thread and in the info the version name is different..

I did advance data restore too and it didn't change mine and I wouldn't of thought that restoring data changes your build.prop which is where the information about your build number etc is stored.
Try manually rebootingyour phone if its still not received signal, its supposed to neat enough straight away after you first turn it on and loads. Let me know how you get on

the thing its' that before restoring, the signal on the phone was working, the version of the rom was right. I try, but if it doesn't work I think I'm gonna reinstalling from the begin of your procedure, then restoring with titanium
Try just turning it off and on first see if that helps. I made a spelling mistake in my last post, I meant to say reboot your phone not root.
If that doesn't work you are probably best to go to the beginning of my instructions, they do work honestly just take your time reading and make sure you understand everything. Iv tried to be as clear as possible including as much info as I can
Sent from my x10i GreenGlow 2.2
I started off kinda regretting the X10 when I found out it was not only locked to 1.6 in USA (which I expected), but a single touch capacitive screen... that didn't make a lotta sense to me; I was almost to the point in which I could confidently say that capacitive screens and multi-touch were synonymous. Whatever...
The plan was to get an Atrix. Yeah, I know it's exponentially stronger than the abomination I chose and I know it's possibly the strongest mobile device on the market worldwide... but I liked the way Xperia X10 "looked" for not having that dumb oval-ish iPhail design that everyone's trying to emulate. The X10 actually tried to have it's own distinct design and I like it. I even like the TimeScape most deem useless.
Anyway, I got to gettin' things done and found myself a very comfortable and fast 2.1 rom and even a dual-touch add-on (as a side question, does that interfere or effect the workability of the pinch-zoom feature added by Sony's stupid PC companion thing?). So things got to be real sweet real fast.
...but I'm an Application packrat, and the lack of 2.2's ability to "Move to SD" is KILLING me. I see ApptoSD and LinktoSD both of which require 2.2 and a horribly lengthy 50-or-more-step SD partitioning process (if I'm forced to update to 2.2 anyway, why the hell would I go through all that when 2.2 comes with a simple and direct "Move to SD"?)
Is there a such thing as an X10 Android 2.2.x ROM that doesn't require me to sacrifice TimeScape, dual-touch or camera quality/camera features?
Take a look at froyo_Achotjan_V02.2 it has Timescape, dualtouch and I know there working on camera quality
You should try erickwill's EWJet. It's fast and the battery last longer. Included in his 2.1 rom are link2sd, new version of camera app, and you can also restore the timespace app if you want. Here's a link to his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941745
This has link2SD and it's a 2.1 ROM with timescape/media scape, as well as great video with no lag in playback or bad quality like most of the 2.2/2.3 ROMs
I've tried just about every ROM and this is one of the (if not) most stable ROMs IMO.
With "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition" it takes about a min to partition your sd card
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941745
good luck, i came from wolfs 6.1.3 to just "try" this ROM, but have stuck with it because of how stable/fast it is.

Wow... thanks for so many great responses!
I didn't think MiniTool Partition Wizard would really do the trick... I used it prior to making this thread to partition a test MicroSD and my phone said it couldn't detect it. I'm assuming it's just that my ROM is not set up to accept partitioned SD cards.
I'll probably give all of these a shot and see which one works for me. I could definitely use the speed boost that some of these offer because my Eternal Legacy and Black Pegasus aren't running very smooth.
Wow... okay, so I thought I had this... but I really don't know what I'm doing when it's not a simple FTF installer or an automatic flash from firmware update files on an SD card >_<

LOL
Download the ROM.
Put it on sd card.
Use xrecovery to install.
In xrecovery, go to Install Custom Zip
And select the ROM.
It will take a minute or too.
Reboot and enjoy.

Okay, okay... you win.
CM 6.1.3 it is.
But now I have a new array of brain-wrecking problems. Neither xRecovery or Universal Androot wanna do anything.
I tried to install xRecovery. The xRecovery installer went without a hitch, but now it crashes every time I try to install the actual xRecovery, giving the error:

...so I try to do a manual install, and any attempt to copy chargemon, busybox or xrecovery.tar to the system/bin folder fails.
I'm thinking that even though I was able to eliminate the stock AT&T X10 ROM, perhaps the phone isn't rooted... so I go to UniversalAndroot.apk... which, as my luck would have it, also fails right after "Installing Toolkit" (Failed! No ~~~ Fu goo ~~~)
Three consecutive epic fails from auto install, manual install and even an attempt to root the phone >_<. To say I'm RAGE'ing is an understatement.
What am I doing wrong?
Im running stock rom 2.1 rooted with flashtool. Link2sd from market working perfectly.

Okay, I'm back to stock and rooting went without a hitch. Got superuser and everything, but now I can't use xRecovery -_-
xRecovery flat out won't install on 1.6 even if I try to force it through flashtool or root explorer... do I have to go back to 2.1 now before I can use xRecovery and flash CM6.1.3?

Yeah maybe flash global generic 2.1 first
...now I'm just plain stomped.
On 1.6 Stock X10a
• I flash the firmware
• I can root the device with UniversalAndroot
• I can install Busybox, which works when it is rooted
...then I cannot install xRecovery... blocked through the device, and FTF returns the error "INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK"
On 2.1 X10 global generic
• The root from 1.6 does not persist.
• I cannot root the device with UAndroot, z4 or SuperOneClick(they all have their own special ways of ****ing with me)
• Because I cannot root, I cannot use Busybox
• Because both the root and busybox failed, xRecovery isn't working -_-
It's like I'm caught in some cyclic insanity that has no way out lol... why can't wolfy and everyone just keep it simple with FTF installers. I can work with FTFs.
My damn brain is hurting...

What baseband are you on
Hello to all,
Firstly first post to this site and also new to the world of rooting/flashing so bare with me on this one..
Ok as title states I would like to know on how to successfully flash my x10 and receive the benefits that xda have given to alot of us!
Phone specs:
Xperia x10a.
Ver 2.1update1.
Rooted via super one click.
So far I have only been able to root the phone.. I have TB and have performed a back up recently. I do also have the Rom Manager app whilst watching a tutorial via youtube flashing using the Rom Manager I was not able to use the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery as the x10 was not in the listing to proceed. I have also got xrecovery ver 0.3 and tried another method using this but I was not able to install xrecovery properly.. I downloaded it all well and good but went to install and the 3 windows never became ticks just crosses.. Uninstalled and reinstalled but to no avail it did not work..
So my questions are:
Have I done something wrong on my end for this not to work? (knowing my luck yes).
And all I'm after if someone could take the time out and lay out a clear somewhat easy path in order for myself to be able to flash and install custom Roms? cm7 is what I would like to use unless if a good recommendation is given.
Thank you in advance to all and I do apologize for the long post I just wanted to make sure I covered everything.. Still new to this
Kind Regards.
Agera.
Xrecovery installer can be a bit troublesome. Sometimes it doesn't even work for me.
In my opinion, the best way to install xrecovery, root, & jit enable your x10 is through flashtool. You will need a PC but the process works better than the installer. Try that method and find out if that works.
Hey thanks for your reply, my noobness is showing greatly at this point regarding xrecovery... it'll help if I actually click install busy box and destination folder (duh) made me look....yeah Ok well now I have a phone that has been rooted and now have xrecovery in operation, I guess now comes to install a custom rom.
Now to sum it all up basically I have to copy paste desired rom and google rom pack load it onto the sd card (not in any file inside sd but just on sd) perform final backup get into xrecovery factory wipe first? I believe then custom rom reboot then get back into xrecovery then install google apps reboot and done?
I hope I got that down I'm trying to remember processes without having to go back to a tutorial, if I left anything out permission to give me a clip over the ear
Cheers.
When you pick a ROM, make sure the phone's baseband matches the ROMS baseband the developer wants. Also, follow how the way the dev wants the ROM installed, like phone wiped and cache wiped and stuff. And sometime there are multiple files that needed to be flashed in a specific order in xrecovery. So make sure you follow all the devs directions. Hope this helps.

and you can find different ROMs that don't require you to flash googleapps as well, that just makes it confusing. I started with FreeX10, as it was simple and easy to install. once you have a hang of it, I recommend using Trip's GB MIUI. and you said you backed up phone before you installed xrecovery? I recommend you backup using xrecovery first

fixed phone was able to get back into xrecovery and do a restore...
Ok, something I want to ask regarding what I did today when I went to update to a newer o/s eveything went fine until after the phone rebooted and came back to the home screen the 2.2.1 froyo rom I used seemed to be refreshing itself every 2 seconds which made it next to impossible to navigate around the phone... The arc version 2.3.1 opened up and about 30 seconds it froze restarted and shut down again did that for a while... So both didnt work for me only other thing I opened up was the google pack so I could get the market and gmail, I also tried it without installing google apps... same thing happened.
So my question is have I forgotten to put an extra file in? or was it my blind luck that I used to unstable roms?
I've really tried here.. if anyone can please post a link that is certain to work with exactly what i need to do and what files I need that would be really great. Whether its 2.2 or 2.3 it doesnt matter to me so long as it works at this stage I'm having no luck getting something solid here...
Cheers.
Hello. I am quite new to the scene, and I have very little technical knowledge, so I feel real lost in this forum.
I have tried Slade's CM v7 umm Cyanogen or something, the latest version - v5. I loved it to begin with. But after a week or so, phone seems to be getting more and more laggy, and more and more unstable. I tried Over Clocking it, but that resultet in instant reboot. So I do not use OC. Yet my phone reboots all the time. (Literally, several times a day)
I play alot of games on my phone, this is mainly what I do. I'd love to be able to Over Clock it alittle, but I want stability more than anything.
Now I am considering trying FroyoComb - only because I read somewhere in a post that it did well on benchmarks, but I really have NO idea what I should go for!
Does anyone have any reccomendations? I play alot of games, don't want alot of reboots.
Thanks for any quick reply (I am ready to just flash this ROM right away! If I can find out what CWM is and how to install it)
go here for the froyocomb rom..ive try it and its good for playing game..and here for the CWM..gud luck
Hey man froyocomb is alright but cyanocomb is the same rom but cleaner and with more fixes it was made also by d4

Hello and thanks for help. The problem is, I cannot get xrecovery working. I had the same problem for weeks when I installed the ROM I currently have.
Dark's automatic D4 app does not work at all (it literally does nothing upon launch/pressing buttons)
The 0.3 xrec installer worked successfully after I entered Root Explorer first, mounted /system/bin as R/Wm but still nothing happens when I boot and press back.
I have installed busybox both in /system/xbin and /system/bin, I have tried with newest version 1.19..and I have tried also 1.17 and 1.15. Aswell as in with a combination with manually placing chargemon and xrecovery.tar in bin, and editing their permissions correctly.
Nothing works for getting xrecovery to work, and I wish I remember how I solved it last time. I think someone wrote a post somewhere about mini pro specifically, and with latest version 2.A.0.6 (or what it is) and it said something like "fool proof way of making xrec work" and it actually instructed to just copy two files and NOT edit their permissions.. But like I said, I can't find that post now and there is basically 100 posts about people not getting xrec to work, with different symptoms.
Any idea what I should try?

Download the new Recovery Installer app! Just choose the recovery nd ur done!
I had trouble with xrecovery too, the method I found to work is to grab titanium backup form the market, then click on problems in titanium backup and it downloads busybox, after that grab a terminal emulator and use the aais installer, thats the only way I got mine to work.
The new installer seems to be working fine too so should be easyer.
CWM works perfectly and slades cyano roms are using it already, I prefer the cm6 tho, still based on froyo but almost perfect, cm7 still bit buggy.
Actually im using froyocomb, since thats the last most updated version and based on cm6.
overclock never worked on my mini pro, it always ends in crash loop.
I can play all games allright on froyocomb, still lags a bit on some games but the battery last way longer than any other rom ive tried.
CyanoComb! Done.
P.S. I loved the title (''forest'' thing)
No methods for installing xrecovery works. I cannot get off stock rom (again).
Use quagger's AAIS its in the forums, scroll down!
I tried his AAIS! ;P
Now I am using SEUS to start over. So this is my plan:
-Restore phone to stock.
-Root phone with SuperOneClick - NOT install busybox with it. NOT install busybox through Titanium Backup (although it seems like thats not an option anymore with newest version anyway), NOT install busybox through busybox installer from market.
-Use AAIS to install "xrec for mini pro"
Does this sound like the correct approach?
or you can just after restore phone to stock, root it and then install Mini ROM Maneger and with this app install CWM Recovery. than you can install custom rom

I tried that now. But I tried it AFTER I tried D4's xrec installer. Then trying to install xrec manually. Then I tried the ROM manager CWM-installer, which yielded NO results.
I want the most failproof way here. I don't want to SEUS any more
you don't need to SEUS all the time if any of recovery isn't installed.
use this xrecovery for manual installing and you have great tutorial there.
when you successfully installed xrecovery than you can install CWM Recovery form Rom maneger.(CWM Rcovery is better beacuse is included in all roms)
i hope you could make it working

But so many say different things. Some say: Install busybox from market (which is 1.19 atm) Some say: DO NOT INSTALL BUSYBOX cause xrec comes with it. Some say: Download Titanium Backup and click problems to install busybox. Some say: Let superoneclick install busybox. Some say: It doesn't matter if you installed busybox first or not, xrec will correct it. Some say: OMG if you install wrong version of busybox you cannot make xrec work; SEUS.
So... should I install manually? And what is permission chmod 777. Read, Write, Execute. Read, Execute. Read, execute.?
EDIT: And already now I am getting conflicting instructions. One person is telling me to install CWM through the "ROM manager" and another person is telling me to install xrecovery manually. I don't want to start spamming 20 different ways of doing it to my phone again, just feeling like I have no idea what I am doing or what the results are.

Sorry, but "I cannot get off stock rom" means I was stuck with stock. I have no problem getting back to stock.
Anyway, now I got xrec to work. From what I understand, the newest ROM-releases are made in zip-files made for CWM (CWM is like xrec, but upgraded and better) correct? So now, I downloaded cwm3minipro.zip but I have no idea what to do with it.. how I make CWM replace xrec?
Thanks
Sorry, I need to revise my phrasal verbs... xD
Yeah, xRecovery now belongs to the past, CMW is the future. To install CWM just flash this .zip through xRecovery and here you go!

Ok so i bought my ST15i a while back and had real dramas installing CM as none of the roms seemed to get along with my phone, it had had been fine for ages and then it started showing the classic signs of overheating, buttons flashing etc. I wasn't aware that this was the cause of the issue at the time so i tried to reinstall CM forgetting how much of a pain in the ass it was the first time.
After finally getting the phone back into working order the overheating thing is still present and its been driving me nuts. However, this morning was the straw that broke the camels back I just can't stand to live with it any more, i've tried the Gscript fix but it simply does not execute as the CM rom is lacking cyttsp_fwloader and i was going to try and send a copy over but i really have no idea what im doing beyond this point. Help please!
u use a gscript on what firmware ,i had use it before its not working with .62 u must downgrade to .42 try it bcz its work for me......
i HAD .42 but now i have Cyanogen so i cannot run the script as the required files are not there.

I had the same exact problem.
Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=824441&d=1324477322
It contains touch_smultron_sony.hex
Replace the downloaded .hex file in /etc/firmware
You can do this with root explorer or some other file explorer which can browse root directories.
I actually don't know why, but it worked for me, maybe it will for you too...
