[Q] Cannot substitute Email.apk in System\app

I rooted my Archos 70 with Archangel, then deleted Email.apk in system/app with root explorer.
But when I open this folder again I see "deleted" Email.apk.
So I could not change stock email.apk for another becouse it even doesn't allow me to delete it.
Could you help?
PS I used different aplication to substitute\delete Email.apk but with no success
And you won't be able to do that if you root it with arcangel.
The Archos System folder is in a compressed and signed cramfs, there is no delete possible.
If you want to do something like that, use UrukDroid.
You can use Chulri's simpler root too.
I then replace the stock email.apk with Samsung Galaxy two-pane email. It works great and survives reboot.

[Q] Install apk from /system/app

How do i install apk as system apk?
I tried to paste the apk's with root explorer to /system/apps and grant permissions of "rw-r--r--" and reboot
but its still don't work..
Is there another way?
You just need to paste the .apk in the External SD card/Internal storage and Install from there. Simple. No need for Root Explorer for that.
Regards.
Alternatively, I usually just email the apk and then open it on the phone. It gives a direct install button option in the email itself, downloads and installs like any other app from the market.
I just installed Cognition S2 1.42 and it removed some of the system app like Social Hub and AccuWeather widget, so i would like to install them again.
In Cognition thread said for installing the removed apps you need to transfer them to "/system/apps".
I tried that but it didn't work, after web searching I found that I need to change the permissions to "rw-r--r--", I tried that ether and it didn't work.
So is there other way to do it?
Thanks for replying

Accidentally deleted stock clock and now need ClockPackage.odex

I uninstalled the stock clock because I thought that would delete the clock widgets instead. Restoring did not help, so I searched the forum and found this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070083)
According to the thread, I would need ClockPackage.apk and ClockPackage.odex to get the stock clock back. I have found ClockPackage.apk here, so all I need now is ClockPackage.odex. Could anyone please upload the odex file here, please? Thanks in advance.
Help, please. I'd greatly appreciate any help.
are you on a stock rom? how did you uninstall a system app? Guessing you have root so just put the clockpackage.apk in system/app, give it the right permissions, reboot and it'll be fine (hopefully), the phone should generate a new odex for the apk
Extract those original files from your downloaded "Rom" package and copy it to your mobile. Use root explorer to copy the file to system\app and set the right permissions.

Yes, it is rooted. Also, I did put the apk file in system/app and I got the app back on the application menu. However, it crashes whenever I try to run it.

[Q] Deleting Stock wallpapers, permission ?

Hi, first I used the search but it return no results.
I updated my Xperia Ray to ICS yesterday, then rooted it.
Now I want to remove some of the built in wallpapers like "a_tree_palms" and others ugly ones located in system/etc/customization/content/ [etc...]. After trying to set permission to read/write (using FX Explorer with the root permission addon) I wasn't able to delete them, in fact they seems to be recreated the next second after deleted !
How can I remove them permanently, what kind of permission I need, I'm careful with that because of a bootloop last time I changed permission to system files so I ask before now...
Thanks for your help.
Edit : what a noob I am ! Solved problem, thanks for helping me...
How did you do it? trying to do it on my tablet.

Try another explorer such as root explorer or ES file explorer. Just for ES you will have to go to settings and activate root explorer and mount system as r/w

Yeh I have got both root explorer and es explorer. but where abouts is the files saved?
Thanks
:fingers-crossed: Seriously I wanna remove those stock wallpapers and live wallpapers... They suck!! :silly:
total commander also has root capabilities. for live wallpapers you can just remove the .apk in the system/app folder

[Q] App location?

I want to edit one of my apks (specifically Clash of Clans) and I can't find it's location on my phone. I have ES File Explorer and I have still have trouble locating it. My phone is the Galaxy S4 and there is no data/app folder or system/app folder so I have no clue where it is. If anyone could help me that would be great, thank you.

Applications that don't come bundled with the ROM are installed in /data/app (not data/app - even though your file explorer may hide the leading slash).
You can't read /data/app without root permissions. That's probably your problem.

Eh, my device is rooted and I still couldn't find /data/app even with root permissions enabled. All I did instead was send a copy app and that seemed to work (ES File Explorer to Dropbox). Thank you though.
How do I change the root permissions?
