[Q] Bionix-V headset issue - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I asked this question in the Bionix-V thread, but it's so crowded that it got buried real quick.
I cannot make hands-free calls when my phone is connected to any stereo/headphones via 3.5mm jack. The voice call sound just doesn't come through to the 3.5mm jack and the other party can't hear me through my mic either. Once I unplug the jack the call works fine like any other call. It worked on stock but it doesn't work here. Installed this from a fresh ODIN too.
Anybody have any recommendations?

Im not having any issues! That's weird. You didn't flash a different kernel with it did you?

I flashed the alternative DoW 1.4. Wonder if that's it... I just flashed the stock ka7 kernel. Will test it and see.

I'm having this same issue, currently on Bionix-V with Dragon Kernel. Just need to get this working like it used to and my phone will be perfect!
Haven't yet flashed back to the original Bionix-V kernel, only because I don't wanna lose that great Voodoo sound I get with Dragon Kernel, but sacrifices may have to be made if I can't get the calls to work through the speakers.
Anyone know a kernel with both Voodoo sound and the ability to make calls through speakers?
EDIT: it appears to be a problem with all I-9000 based kernels. So people like me who want Voodoo sound AND hands free calls will have to wait for it to be implemented in a kernel based off the source code, which should be released shortly.

So I actually reflashed Bionix-V and have the kernel it comes with. I did not reinstall DoW. According to what you said, it should work fine now? I'll have to go test that. If so that would be awesome.
Edit: Yep that must have been it. Tried with the stock KA7 kernel that comes with the ROM. Thanks for the help man you got a thanks from me.

Had an issue with before 4/5 using dow where sometimes when unplugging my stereo jack it would crash the phone and power cycle. Very annoying. No problems since I flashed bionix w/ stock kernal.

Glad it worked out

[Q] [MOD][THINKTANK] 3.5mm Car/Home audio issue

I know there have been a few posts on different rom threads about the audio jacks not working but i thought it would be easier to talk/work it out if we dedicated a thread to it.
Personally i have tried 2 kernels
JL1 and JL5
on two different roms
Pepperkake, and Nero v3
I couldn't get the Official Samsung home app to run it kept crashing i don't know if its due to a framework change or that it wasn't designed to work on froyo.
Let the Thinking, Modding, and Building Commence!
Mods please make this a thread. This is a problem that is plaguing manning of us with the vibrant. I believe that the only help that we can get will be from a dev.
I have also tried many ROMs to fix this problem.
stock JL5
Auxura's newest
and all that the OP has listed as well.
Other things I have tried:
changing to TV out on both settings hoping that it could use the TV micro usb audio out.
running Desk home in the backround
both the car home 2.2.1 from nero v3, and 2.1 from the market
tried faking the market into thinking I was running a vibrant from another counrty that supports 2.2... No updated car home
There must be a missing driver that was not included with the 2.2 leak that custom 2.2 ROms where made from.
Could we take anything from the T-mobile tab's 2.2 OS? I see that also has a car dock that supports audio out. It should be a close match to the real stock 2.2 OS.
Mine wasn't working until I upgraded to Nero V3 w/voodoo and stock kernel. I didn't do anything special or load anything out of the ordinary to get it to work, it just did. I'm glad it's finally working though.

The Kernal that came with Nero?
If not which stock Kernal are you reffering to?
I have re-flashed Nero v3 at least three time to see if it would work.
Just to clarify, you have audio working from the OEM samsung car dock? Not from the phones 3.5mm.
But from the Dock's 3.5mm jack?

I have seen it said that 3e recovery fixes the issues with the headphone jack. So I'd try a stockety stock stock kernel and see if that fixes it. Not a voodoo kernel, ULF kernel, ect...

I did some looking and this sounds like what your talking about. This supposedly contains 3e.
[ROM] JL5, build date 2010.12.20
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881542
I can not believe that this doesn't fall under development, but trying to figure out how to bypass T-mobiles data throttle can stay in the DEV area.
We are trying to find out what is missing from EVERY Rom that would allow everyone with a Car Dock to use a feature that was supposed to have been enabled with 2.2 (froyo)
Thanks MOD

[Q] Speaker mode using regular headphones?

I was wondering if there are any kernels out right now that let you use regular headphones like they are a mic'ed version. I remember an older 2.1 Axura build letting me do that, but it doesn't seem to work on Bionix-v 1.2.1 KA7 voodoo kernel. Maryland currently has using your phone while driving as a secondary offense, but may change that soon, so any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to get the headset buttons working on any of the gingerbread roms?

I have flashed almost all of them and for what ever reason my headphone button doesn't work at all to answer phone calls of switch sounds for music. ( not Bluetooth headset but headphones you plug in ive used both iphone and stock vibrant headphones before and worked perfectly) Of there is a way to her the volume buttons to work from headphones as well that would be cool. Thanks you guys and girls.

I too was wondering the same thing. It's a great feature to have when working out or running. I don't wanna keep reaching into my pocket for my phone and manually flip songs through the lockscreen.
Im a cyclist and its very useful.
If ur trying to switch songs then use CM7 u can change songs with volume buttons

I tried that for a while and with each update with no luck- I've went back to stock froyo boot-loader then odin back to eclair then flashed simply honey then flashed boot-loader for Gb and the other way as well boot-loader first then Flashed Simply Honey with a no go.
Does any one have the file for the headset programs/software and perhaps a location to drop it with root explorer. I ve really searched this forum and others and I cant find crap. It seems to be a problem with all of the Gingerbread Roms because samsuck hasn't released the official GB yet.

People can't hear me on calls.

Hey, so right now I'm on CM7, not the most current build, but there's not much I can do until I wait for a new SD card (exactly for the reason that you think).
Anyway, I am having trouble with people hearing me on the other end of calls. They say i keep dropping out. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or would it be better to just go back to stock and try to get a replacement?
Turn off "Hi-fi record" in voodoo control app.
good day.
Where can I find that?
EDIT: Just downloaded the app- it was already off.

Also people sometimes have to call me twice before I get the call. Any solution to that?

Yes Try a Froyo Rom!
ComRom 2.1
or
Evil Fascination
after missing a call from my boss, i went back to a EF rom and I can hear calls, the proximity sensor works and i have no fear about loosing my SD card.
or try powerwashed ed05... all of the gb based roms have bugs and are randomly eating sd cards. Stick with froyo for now!!
You could also try a bluetooth headset. I've never had a compliant using it on AOSP.

[Q] Headset Microphone cutting in and out on Task's AOKP 5.1.12/Siyah v3.2rc1

I've searched for this problem, found some stuff that is close but I haven't been able to find it exactly.
Speakerphone and built-in microphone work fine.
But when I use my headset (Bose MIE2), the microphone fades in and out when I am on a call. People say it will sound fine and then start to sound "tinny" or like I'm "in a can". Seems like this happens when I stop talking and they speak and the background noise becomes louder to the caller. And it doesn't last. It fades in and out, several times on a call.
This headset worked fine on stock AT&T Gingerbread.
About two months ago, I decided to root my phone for the first time and install a modded ROM. So I flashed CM7. Headphone mic worked fine on CM7.
Bose microphone was also working fine on CM9 - one of the early release candidates.
At that point, flashing became easy so I started on the nightlies (I'm sounding like an addict, aren't I? I feel like one!!!).
Then I found my dream flasher/pusher, Task! I've been on AOKP ROM (currently up to date on the 5.1.2012 release) ever since. Awesome ROM, if you haven't tried it.
Still having the headphone mic issue though.
I've wiped fully several times (yes, I read every post in your thread, Task), trying to clear this up.
I also wondered if the headphones where jacked so I returned them to Bose and the new pair is presenting the same issue.
I have read all about the built-in mic swapping issues with the different kernels.
I've tried NEAK and Siyah and I'm careful to be sure I have the mic swapping versions for AOKP/CM. My phone does not like NEAK at all. Loves Siyah - getting fantastic battery life (14 hours today, 27% screen time and WiFi on all day with 20% battery remaining) and responsive. I'm currently on the latest Siyah ICS [v3.2rc1] with UC 200 to 1000, lulz/vr only. It is also awesome, thanks, Ktoonsez!
I'm wondering if that mic swapping on the phone has anything to do with the mic on the headset.
Also, is there anything else I can check to help troubleshoot this in more detail?
Finally, are there any controls for headphone mics or even microphone settings in ROM Control or anywhere else that can be adjusted?
Thanks for your help in advance!
The NEAK kernel only has one choice for Tasks rom, no need to pick between mic swap.

I'm wishing it was that simple. On NEAK, I've tried the AOSP - still have the issue. My phone freezes too often on that kernel.
On Siyah, I get the mic swap version for AOKP/CM - still having the issue.
The latest Siyah runs like a beast and gets fantastic battery, just has the fading issue.
