Hello everyone.
I would like to ask you for a favor.I really like these two radio stations (DI.FM & SKY.FM) or these two websites with different internet radio channels. The first one streams all styles of electronic music and the second one all kinds of music...such as 80's,alternative rock, classical music etc....well,this is where I need your help....they have two applications for android:
-DI.FM
di.fm/apps/android/download
-SKY.FM
sky.fm/apps/android/download
Could you please download one or both, install it and try to see if you can make it work?.On my Dell Streak with 2.2 it gets stuck and seems like it is gonna start working or it only works once, after that it does not work any-longer.I have been exchanging emails with the developers and so far they say that it is working on some 2.2 android devices.
I know it could be too much to ask since everyone of us is always busy, but this would be a good idea if you like these styles of music.....there are lots of channels in either app.
So if you install it,or you want to report the bugs to the dev's I will really appreciate it and we can all take advantage of this music.
Thanks very much and have a great day.
I use the di.fm app everyday on my streak!! Way more than slacker and sirius xm combined!
The trick is to go into the settings and change the stream format /bandwidth settings from aac to mp3
Btw, search google for idma (international dance music awards) and go vote #18 for di.fm as best electronic radio show!!

I d/l and am trying sky.fm. After changing Basic Bandwidth to the mp3 settings (cellular and wifi), it's working!
Hi guys.
Thanks so much for your support and time.I switched those settings as you described and the dev recommended,it is a little better but I can't listen to all of the radio stations yet.
It is very sluggish and laggy on my Streak, even after resetting the whole thing a couple of times.
Once again thank you for your time.
u should try connected music player from the motorola defy port.. ull never use any other app afterwards

Did anybody else notice a bug in SE Music app on newest Gingerbread Rom? For me, when playing music, tracks are often interrupted by a strange electronic noise.
BTW I'm using "WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread". Did anybody has similar problems
and does this bug also appears in stock gingerbread rom or is it due to using a custom rom? I would be thankful for any answers.
Best regards.
me too
i have this problem too in WB 2.3.3 ROM
a lot of lags in audio player
I'm on wb hotfix 4 and ubermusic, and have no problems at all

i think the music player is really buggy... apart from the static noises between tracks, after unlocking from lock screen the track skips. Theres no shuffle/ repeat options at all, and wma files doesnt show up.
I was about to post the same thing. Other than her has anybody found a mp3 that does not skip.

Well true and there is lag in music playing when using applications. Feels like slow processor or what.

Yeah, I`ve same problem, when using that stock music player(which has that widget). It`s really annoying, like stopping music playing for 0,5 sec and then continuing, that really sux :/ I hope there`ll be some fix for it...
Using this one here.

Best combination I have found so far! Also on hotfix 4 and ubermusic gives me the least amount of trouble for playing music. Still skips when turning screen on but it is much more tolerable overall!
Yes guys, seems to be an issue with 2.3.3. Wolf is working on a new ROM (as the rooted ones are based on an indian firmware of X10 - but apparently the ROM from GB doesn't have this issue).
Please check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16278495&postcount=1904
Is not related to SD Card, nor to hardware (as it worked ok with 2.1 no stuttering ever) as far as I can tell.
Since Monday I'm on 005 but still the same probs with the stock player. Now 2 days later, I've considerably fewer drops. Didnt install any add apk's. very strange ?!?
by the way ;did anyone test mp3 with different bit rates ?
I've tested 128 kbps (same issues) and vbr 192-320 kbps (same issues).
I connected to my car's hands free and still had the same issues.
I connected to an A2DP music gateway and it didn't hiccup when rotating but messed up when turning the screen back on/off.
Someone said that the UK GB version doesn't have this problem. Wolf also mentions this (I think he's going to use the pre-rooted UK version for 006). Right now Wolf's rom is based on the pre-rooted India version.
Is anyone running EWJet? That one is based on the UK version and it would be interesting to know if that one is having audio issues.
I also have similar issue its too much lagy.
And also when i open some mp3 file from file manager it plays the other.
there are too many problems with this default music player from sony.
And also i can't use next/previous button of my mw600 with this player.
Mediascape was much much better then this.
Please i want mediascpe back on 2.3.3. Help me out.
I'm now on 006 , and the problems are back . I dont believe that it is an 2.3.3 specific problem. As I wrote before , on the old version the noises were gone after 2 days.
Can anyone get SiriusXm, TuneIn radio to work when using MIUI beta.
I found some old posts via google from droidforums.net where user tp4bama suggested replacing the hosts file in system/etc but the link to this host file is down.
I have tried replacing the hosts file with a rom that siriusxm works with(eclipse/stock 2.3.4) to no avail.
I have also tried uninstalling/reinstalling.
Thanks,
joshahouck
As of 4-30-12 Siriusxm has updated their android app to version 2.0.
Lucky for us siriusxm internet radio subscribers and miui rom runners we now have a semi-working app.
What I have found so far:
The Good:
To start they have revamped the app quite a bit, to include pause rewind and fast forward. Something android users should have had long ago, none-the-less a great feature.
You can also see information about the artist that's playing, as well as schedule to tune in to your fav show during the week.
Sound quality seems better to me.
Faster streaming / load times
Much better than previous version (1.6.2)
The Bad:
I found trying to use the bottom navigation bar that has Categories, Channels, Favorites, Shows, Settings was buggy with Miui. Categories, and Channels when clicked cause FC's I could not get around.
In order to tune into a channel I wanted to listen to I had to:
Use the "Show" nav button
Sort shows by channel
Find the Station I wanted to listen to
Thumb through the shows untill you find one that says "Now Playing" rather than "Upcoming"
Click it and then you are listening to your station.
I would recommend long pressing the Channel's Icon at the top of screen to save as a Favorite.
Since the Favorite nav icon at the bottom works, you should be able to quickly access any channel you add using this method.
I hope this helps someone, I am happy to have siriusxm and Miui working together!

I picked up my Note the other day and I have come across an interesting situation.
My Mazda3 has built in Bluetooth and I can stream to it no problem. When I did so on my old Infuse, the display on my car only ever said BT, no track number or play timer. Now with the Note, there are areas that show the track and play time. When I play anything with the Samsung music app, the track number increments properly, but the play time stays at 0:00. With Google Music, any track I play shows 600 for track number and the play time stays at 0:00.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
EDIT: I should probably mention that for now I'm on stock Gingerbread.
Yea, it's just the way the software works with a2dp from what I understand. Every music app will be a bit different if they support the feature at all.
But then why didn't the Infuse have the same behavior?

Infiniti G37xS
I'm encountering issues. On the stock Note GB ROM, mp3 tag data was showing up in the display of my factory head unit on my Infiniti G37xS.
After applying the ICS leak, this functionality no longer works. This also worked with my Skyrocket and the stock ROM. In all cases, I was using the default "Music Player" application.
Does anyone know of any market players that support tag (or even album art) over bluetooth?
Thanks,
-MK

Sounds like some of the functionality isn't complete or was left out of the ICS leak. Could be either the BT driver or the Music app. Let's hope it gets better with future leaks or official.
I would like to know if there are any apps that support full track info.

I just sent an email to the developer of PowerAmp on this exact subject. I have a Lexus that works just fine with my Son's 4S - displays everything on the screen. So it must be doable and its good to hear that at least GB Note has it somewhat working - so I think it is up to the app developers to get there code tweaked to support it.

Any news from that Dev?
Also CM9 is supposed to enable the track number, time and track info display.

So there are some differences in ICS versus Gingerbread which give me some hope.
So now on ICS using the same version of Google Play Music Instead of getting the 600 as the track number and 000 as the play time, i just get dashes. But on ICS I actually get the rest of the track info, like artist, song and album. So two steps forward, one step back.
I have included some photos
ICS likes to pause music for a split second while the camera snaps a photo, so BT shows as paused and continues showing that even after playback has resumed. So in the photo you can't actually see the dashes I described.
Hello Everyone,
I just recently switched from an iPhone 4S and to a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. So far I'm enjoying my experience. I experimented with Android in the past by buying a Nexus One when it was first released. Didn't enjoy the experience for a few reasons, but my main concern was with the way Android handled music. We're talking Eclair and Froyo days, now.
Recently, I ordered a beat-up, used Nexus One to travel overseas and found that Gingerbread had ironed out a lot of the music woes than it's firmware predecessors had. Mainly, the "unknown artist" thing, that I couldn't find any help.
Right now, I'm searching for a good music player that has specific features. Remember I'm an iOS user, and some of this stuff they had in their stock music app. Right now, I'm using "Android Music", not "Google Music", mind you. The reason for this, is because I'm familiar with it from my N1 days. I know there are better apps out there, but I don't want to download 100 apps that don't do exactly, or at least mostly want I want to do.
So here's the meat of the conversation, I'm looking for a music player that can do the following:
1. Transition between songs to be seamless, if the song is meant to blend into the next. (I don't want a stuttering version of Dark Side of the Moon)
2. Audio ducking. When I receive a message or an email, the music player I have now stops the song entirely. It's a jolt especially if you're driving and really annoying. This app needs to have audio ducking.
3. The ability to have voice control. I want to be able to hit the google mic button and say, "Play "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead" and it will play (sort of like what Siri does). But, as of iOS5, a huge annoyance I had with Siri is that she played JUST that song and didn't transition to the rest of the album. I've been testing beta 2 of iOS6 and it looks to have been fixed now. But I want that iOS6 feature with voice control. I know there are apps that do that, because my GN says there are when I try to request a certain song.
The rest of these are nice, but not deal breakers:
4. Perhaps a way to play audible formatted audiobooks? I'm not sure of the Android Version of the Audible app can download them offline, but I'd love to continue my audiobook addiction with Android.
5. A good, easy to use UI. Going from a 3.5 inch to a 4.6 inch phone is a big transition. I drive a good distance to work, and I want to be able to change songs and such without pancaking your grandma.
Those are my requests. I know that the Google Music app seems to have replaced the old music app that I'm using, but I don't want to use Google Music as my main driver. For a while now, I've been uploading to GM and I know there is an ability to download them offline. It's cool feature if I'm in a bunch, but I don't want to have to do that all the time. I like keeping a significant amount of songs on my phone at all times, and I don't want to have to scroll through a bunch of stuff I'm not currently listening in heavy rotation. It wastes time and remember, your grandma's life is at stake if I'm behind the wheel.
It sounds sort of picky, but I'd expect that from a lot of Android users, because I was picky on iOS. I jailbroke the very first iPhone even before it had an app store, and I did it every time I had the chance. I love options. At this point it seems like the stock app for music on Android is not cutting it for me, but I know there are options out there. Please advise, and thank you very much for your help, and reading my ramblings.
Hi all!
I was just cleaning my room when i found my old x10 mini and i thought why dotn someone create a rom thata makes the cellphone a media player only? Like no sms or calls no apps! just one good mp3/mediaplayer and some eq like DSP manager. this would be so awesome.
So we could put a use to old android phones
this could ofc work on any android phone
so fell free any good developer to take this idea and make it reality:
I will once I get a new phone (october) and can test it without needing radio. The one problem I can see is WiFi and Bluetooth might not work if you disable the radio entirely so its finding how to disable cell radio only.

Can't you just take out the sim-card and strip Android down to just media... wifi and bluetooth should still work, but without a sim there's no 2g/3g.

I could have a go at stripping stock eclair down and putting in jit, to make it a bit more responsive. Only problem i have with stock is that the sound quality with video-recording is a bit crappy (understatement, it's horrible) in loud environments, is there a way to improve that? I'm not a fan of the dsp-manager, haven't tried it with headphones, but on the phone-speaker it just sounds horrible. Maybe put in SRS trumedia or something like that, if possible?
If I wanted just a media-player i would have:
MusicPlayer
VideoPlayer
Youtube
Camera/Video-recording
Gallery
FM-Radio
Track-ID
Maybe a few small apps:
Notes
Timer
Stopwatch
Calculator
Browser
E-mail
Any thoughts?

If you add wifi and browser and those things it would be like a phone anyways im thinkin like just media stuff.
my opinion:
mp3
video player
camera/recorder
stopwatch/timer (perfect for training)
gallery
fm radio
preferences
-
just so the batery would last longer

Yeh, i was thinking smart mediaplayer.
Quite often i want to know what a song is called or who the artist is, so in those cases i turn on wifi and use trackid to identify the song, maybe the browser to get some more info.
When wifi and bluetooth are turned off they don't consume any battery, so it's not such a problem to keep them in, unlike the 'normal' network services that are always on.
So you wany an Os like ipod?? Just for media

Yes. A lot of people have moved on from their phones but have kept them around and its the sort of thing they'd be great for.
As for DSP-Manager, I find with the rock preset on my Sennheisers Guns N' Roses sound better than with it off, I might to a test CM7 build for it.

Just use the without any sim card...That's it....No need of any other os(music os/rom).. It is as simple as that....
use your x10 mini in fly-mode
I am exactly in the same situation..I recently bought a GNex and so i'm not using my awesome X10Mini anymore..But also due to the fact that the Gnex has no sdcard I was considering the idea of turning the mini into a music player..
I'm not a developer and I have just a little experince in ROM cooking, but I have a lot of free time in this period so I might try to do something..
A good idea.
I think we should ask NaA for permission to use MiniCM7 as a base(smoother than eclair) for such a ROM.
And then we remove the following apps:
Phone
Contacts
SMS
So it essentially becomes a PMP. Leaving YouTube and Browser apps in would be handy for video media consumption and what not.
Airplane mode on by default. Beats audio or some mod that actually improves quality
And there you have it! Of course though, it would essentially be nothing more than a recooked ROM. Anyone with MiniCM7 already installed could just do the above xD
Why recook when you can build it without GSM? I've done it already but not yet tested to see what sort of monster I've created (disabled GSM but might havve disabled. WiFi aswell)

While I can appreciate the novelty of seeing if you can build a ROM that works strictly as a media player, personally I think just using the phone in airplane mode is the best solution.
Consider which you would rather have:
1. a *possible* tiny performance gain from stripping out the GSM radio bits of the ROM
2. the knowledge that if your current phone ever dies or has problems, you can instantly pop the SIM into your old X10 Mini and have a working smartphone again.
I'll take number 2 any day. Even if I was living in the US and my new phone was non-GSM (thus no SIM card) I'd rather the option of being able to use my media player as a phone as well.
Granted, I guess you can always use multi-boot ROM setups. Still sounds like a lot of work to me.
Ever heard of Rockbox? I don't know that they are doing but I heard of an android port. Maybe as an apk. But the idea of it sounds great. I already started using my mini pro as an mp3 player for my wife. In airplane mode.
