use titanium backup to freeze it...
OR

[Q] Auto install of backups

One of the programs that I have installed is using massive amounts of data in the background, so I have tried doing a complete wipe and re-install so that I can add apps one by one to find out what it is. The problem I am having is that all of my downloaded apps are being automatically re-installed. I have un-checked the option in titanium backup and un-ckecked the box in setup for google to backup and restore. Is there something else that I am missing? This became a problem when I started using Froydvillain 1.5. I know it is not something in Froydvillain because it happened again when I switched to floyo 0.8. Is it just a feature of 2.2? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This is a 2.2 feature. If you go into menu, settings, privacy, and turn on backup, you can then turn off restore, and turn off backup. That's what I do every flash.
Thanks Pulser! I never would have looked under Privacy Settings.
Hmm...turns out that didn't work either. Everything still auto re-installed. I guess I just have to uninstall my downloaded programs and re-install them one by one.

[Q] Titanium Backup apps greyed out on restore

Help,
Found similar topics but no real solution.
Was on Wolf v6s. Backed up all my apps. Went back to stock with SEUS, installed titanium restore and choose batch.
All my apps are greyed out! I can't manually restore them. it just says: What would you like to do? and no buttons to click. They are stored on SD/titaniumbackup
No problems restoring my messages, wifi connections, ...
Please don't tell me that it's lost cause I really need them.
What titanium version do you have? Pro or root? If you have pro can you try root.
If thats not working then go
Settings>Applications>Titanium Backup>and select clear data or cache
If thats still not working, uninstall then install again.

I just have root. Clear cache didn't do anything cause I had to reinstall titanium after full wipe.
Reinstalling also didn't do a thing, cause i just installed it after wipe.
I'm still hoping
Use root explorer or astro file manager. Go to sd files, open titanium folder, and either install from there or cut and paste to data/apps then reboot.

Can somone tell me what this is and why it wont uninstall

So I found this file when I was backing up my apps in titanium and it was labeled titanium activator. I couldnt uninstall it and when I checked it out in root explorer it had a list of all my apps with apks, .tar, and preferences. I tried to uninstall it but it wouldn't do it. So I wiped data from titanium and it left me with this. Com.dragon.tpu what the hell was this and why was it on my tab?

You are kidding right? Google "Titanium Activator" and you'll see why no one is gonna help you with this issue.
Yes I was serious. I never downloaded that program. I pay for my apps. I was flashing different roms and noticed this in titanium. So some where along the road this was added to a rom. I figured out how to get rid of it myself but thanks for your two cents.

[Q] just installed Bionix 1.3.1 and need help with some apps not working

Hi all.
I just installed Bionix 1.3.1 and restored apps+data with Titanium Backup.
so far, a couple of things are not working for me.
The native messaging app won't start. I get an error message saying it has stopped working and then it goes back to the home screen.
Also, when i tried to set the ringtone, and chose Andoid system as the default ringtone directory, my phone force closes.
Is there something I haven't restored properly with Titanium?
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
Thanks so much,

I had the same issue with some of the apps. Just uninstall the apps in question and re-install from the market. You can restore the app data only from Titanium if you need to.
Do you think I can uninstall the native messaging app though?

[Q] Freezing & defrosting

I recently flashed the resurrection ROM. I then accidentally froze my music app through Titanium Backup, whilst usb debugging was disabled.
Is there any way i can defrost it? I have tried many different ways but no luck. I don't wana have to re-flash the ROM.
This is what I've tried so far.
* normal defrost
* advanced defrosting through titanium backup settings
* deleting the app through root explorer and reinstalling the app
* installing an alternative defroster from the market
* Backing up with titanium backup and then restoring with titanium backup
After everything the app is still frozen.
Any help appreciated. Thanks

That wouldnt be an ICS ROM by any chance would it because thats a bug that ICS ROMs are having with Titanium. As far as Im aware its still an unfixed bug.
Yup ICS. It's probably a bug with freezing and defrosting itself otherwise the other app would have worked..

I thought it sounded like ICS.Thats one of the bugs that still cant seem to be fixed at the moment. Its a pain in the butt too when you choose something by accident but at the moment I havent heard of anyone able to come up with some kind of work around to sort it out till the official release.
EDIT: Why dont you copy/paste it to your internalSD with root explorer then delete it with Titanium and then with root explorer copy/paste it to System/app folder again so it gets reinstalled as a system app.
Did that, didn't work... Doesn't matter now though.. I re-flashed :/. Just busy in setting everything up again now.

Thanks, i was not aware of this bug. my luck i didn't Freeze any important app. ill stick to my ROM and wait for the official ICS release.
thanks.
Just a quick update if it helps someone.
if you froze an app and cant defrost it, you can open Titanium backup, click the frozen app and choose "Uninstall", now you can install the app again and it will work ok.
Mine still gets reinstalled frozen.I have to back it up before uninstalling so it gets reinstalled frozen.
If you're still having this problem check out my thread for a work around http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486300
