Use titanium backup and backup everything. Then flash Bionix-V. You will be happy you did and your voicemail icon will work again. I had this issue with one of the first Bionix roms and updating to a newer one fixed this issue.

So this is an issue that I have seen many a variation on, but none quite like this. The issue is that some texts from folks I receive fine others are sporadic. It seems to vary from day to day and person to person. I can receive a text from someone and respond then not get any other from that person after. Others I gave been able to receive from in the past but do not receive now. I am running GSB 2.2 with the latest vzw radio for the Eris (2.42.01.04.27), using GO sms with the stock messenger installed, but notifications turned off. I've tried a reflash, Full wipe and Flash, *22899, APN backup from a 2.1 rom, tried the spn provided by roirraW "edor" ehT no change. This has happened with chomp also. I am at a loss. It's a shame, because work shed has made a awesome phone out of my little Eris. Any thoughts?
Missing Texts solved
After some experimentation on my part I have discovered that as GoSMS states in its help section, you can remove the stock application but is not recommended. That'll teach me to read more closely before removing apps . So a heads up for all you GOSMS users out there. leave the stock app installed. I have had zero issues with texts since I updated to a newer version of GSB, which reinstalled the stock sms app.
I'm new to Rooting. But I recently succeeded in ROM'ing Team Whiskey's Bionix Nextgen V2 (Froyo). I downloaded it and installed it via ROM Manager. I enjoy many aspects of this ROM, but I recently noticed that all incoming calls are automatically sent to Voice Mail (via AutoReject or AutoForward). And I see no sign that a call came in which I missed. I have no problem making outgoing calls.
When I put my SIM into my old phone I could make AND receive calls fine. So my cellphone service provider (Orange Israel) concluded that the problem is in my phone and not with them. Have any other Nextgen V2 users had this problem? Is there something in Settings that I need to change?

Update:
I had Eclair and finally ROM'd my phone. After ROM'ing Team Whiskey's Next Gen v2 I noticed that when I got in incoming call my phone did not ring or vibrate and was automatically sent to voicemail. So I changed to Br1ck'd ZenDroid 2.0.1 and everything was fine for a while. Then I finished restoring all my apps and now I have the same problem again. What app or setting could do this?
I don't think it's anything in the Settings / Call Settings. I've checked that well.

I need a normal Froyo ROM AND a phone that RINGS when I get a call. What do you suggest?
My girlfriends phone is having the same issue on bionix nextgen. If you figure it out please let me know. She does not miss all her call it is just sometimes.
I've had issues receiving calls when listening to music. The music doesn't stop and calls will go to VM.
My phone was originally Eclair but I finally ROM'ed it with Team Whiskey's Next Gen v2. I was happy with that until I noticed that when I got an incoming call my phone did not ring or vibrate; the incoming call was automatically sent to voicemail. So I changed to Br1ck'd ZenDroid 2.0.1 and everything was fine for a while. Then I finished restoring all my apps and now I have the same problem again. What app or setting could do this?
I usually have a good cell phone signal, so I don't think that's the problem.

I don't understand what the problem is. I need this phone to work correctly. Do you have any suggestions?

First, you may wish to ask the people who made the ROM on their own forum, in the thread made for the ROM.

That being said, the differences between the most current Froyo ROMs, in my experience (Zendroid, Bi-Winning, Project V, Toxic7, Toxic8, Bionix, Trigger) tend to be rather minor (to a layman like myself at least. The coding may be drastically different, but the day to day operation is very similar) apart from theming which can vary widely. If Team Whiskey doesn't have an answer for you, or can't reproduce your problem, you may want to simply switch to a different Froyo ROM. I've personally had good experiences with Zendroid (minimalist) and Toxic7 & 8 (excellent theming)
Help, I tried to "go backwards". I was on I was on Zendroid 2.0.1. which wasn't working. I thought that "Restoring" to the first ROM Manager Backup (Nandroid?) which I created would take me back to Factory Stock. Now all I get it the "Bali" sunset "splashscreen" and I can't get beyond that. Is this phone bricked? Noooooo, it can't be. What do you suggest I do?

I had this exact problem on an evo 4g, it was Google Voice.
I have never set up Google Voice on my vibrants so I don't know if that is what the problem is for you.
/insert rant about restoring apps and then complaining about how something doesn't work.
I can't stress enough how much less drama you will have with your phone if you quit trying to restore apps from a backup.
Apparently, I'm losing a lot of SMSes, as they've been sent by friends but have not been delivered to me. Also, I dialed into my voicemail last week for the first time in over a month and discovered that I haven't been receiving notifications of new voicemail--are these ROM or carrier issues? I was running Bionix 1.3.1. Thanks.
get noled!! the perfect app for texts and everything else for the vibrant! it was made for the vibrant
I looked up the program in the Market, but would noled help with the missing notifications/messages?
I sort of recall having the same problem you're experiencing. If my memory serves me correctly, it works even without the notification icon coming up in your status bar. Pretty sure it does... Try it cause it's one hell of an APP. You can monitor anything you like. It's all your choice.
So after trying out a few custom ROMs on my Vibrant I decided to go back to stock KB5 and root it..but now I'm having a weird problem, I noticed since I updated the phone the voicemail notification won't come on. I tried going into the voicemail settings and selecting "My Carrier" but it didn't fix it. I did have Google Voice installed - but not set up with an account, and I just uninstalled it.
I've got it on T-Mobile with Monthly4G. Any ideas? Thanks...
Have you deleted the visual voicemail app by any chance?
Hmm...yes, I did. Since I don't have the service (not available on prepaid) I took it off.
That fixed it though, thanks! Silly carriers...
A few weeks ago I flashed the Skyrocket Visual Voicemail apk to my i717, after that when I had a missed call, when I'd unlock my phone I'd have a white box pop up that said who called with the option to ignore, call back right now, or set a reminder to call back later. I don't remember installing any other apps, so I assumed this was a VVM thing. I wiped and flashed the latest Perfections ICS rom a few days ago, it has VVM built in. I no longer get the pop ups after missed calls.
I'm begining to wonder if it was in fact another app that was doing this, but I'm lost. Does anyone using VVM get this? I looked in the settings and didn't see anything. If that isn't a VVm feature, I'm hoping someone know what the hell I'm talking about, it was pretty cool and useful.
