Howto create desktop icon for "Deep sleep" mode?
Not sure, but I wouldn't mind a widget for the power management options: overdrive, optimal, powersave.
Unfortunately, neither of these will be very easy unless Archos provides an SDK for those functions. The one they do offer is for media only.
I even called their top tier support and couldn't get anywhere...
Why do you need a shortcut?
With new firmware, under Settings->info->pwrmanagement you can set your device going deep sleep automatically every time you push power button, or the LCD screen goes off

I thought I had tasker figured out, but can't seem to get Bluetooth to come on, or wifi to shut off, or screen brightness to switch to AUTO when I plug into my car dock.
I have the first part set right, I believe. I have the Profile turn green (activating) when "Docked" [car]. This seems to work. However none of my tasks work. I have it set to Auto Brightness [on], Bluetooth [on] and WiFi [off].
I also had exit tasks, which were the opposite of above (Auto Brightness [off], Bluetooth [off] and WiFi [on]).
These have no effect, but tasker does prevent my car panel from launching, which I like. Any advice?
Well, it seems that I can't launch apps via tasker widgets either. Seems like nothing I set for tasker to actually DO works. However, the conditions seem to be met (the profile names turn green). Can anyone assist?
Not sure whats going on with yours. You don't seem to be alone though. I would try to go to Apps > Tasker, clear all data/cache.
Then make a simple task. Like mute when you hit volume down button.
Here is a profile you can import to do everything you wanted:
hxxp://db.tt/CGT4WFI
State: Docked [Car]
Enter
1. Load App - Set: Car Panel
2. WiFi - Set: Off
3. Bluetooth - Set: On
4: Auto Brightness - Set: Off
Exit
1. Kill App - Set: Car Panel
2. WiFi - Set: On
3. Bluetooth - Set: Off
4: Auto Brightness - Set: On

I'll try clearing data/cache on it and see if that helps. As for your profile, thank you. I'll give it a shot later today. If it works, I will tweak it though.. I actually prefer the car panel to stay off.
Would be cool if on "Docked", it could switch to a different Sense "Theme" I created just for being in the car. This theme could have links to whatever I wanted on the home screens, instead of the default car dock stuff. Know of a way to do that?
if tasker can change sense home screens after certain conditions i may have to reconsider my potential purchase haha, that would be awesome.
I haven't found a way to do that. Also, I can't get tasker to perform any actions anyway... Don't know what's going on.

The only way I know of to do that is to load multiple launchers. Set each one up for a new environment, then make a rule to open that one.
Hey all,
Forgive me if I need to post this elsewhere but the searches I have done have come up empty.
I'm pretty new to Java and Android development. So I'm sure this is an easy fix. But I could use some help.
The short version is I need to figure out a way for my widget to monitor the silent mode status. And would like to know what monitor's the home screen usage in android system.
The long version is this. The widget is pretty simple it just toggles the silent mode. (Hey we all have to start somewhere.) The problem is it's designed to update the icon to reflect the silent mode status, but the code triggers through a click action. See the problem? Yep silent mode can be toggled in many different ways. Thus what I need is an efficient way to monitor the silent mode status. My current idea is to have it run a simple check whenever the "home" or "back" buttons are pressed/whenever the home screen displays.
Problem is I don't know what SystemService checks that. I'm not really looking for an "ok plug this code into..." I want to learn. I'm looking for what I need to call in so I can monitor when the user returns to the home screen. Or if anyone has another more simple fix I'm all ears.
Hi there.
I'm trying to find the best way of LED flashlight activation and ended up with a tought it should be enabled via double home button press. So Wanam Xposed module allows me to choose which application should be started once I pressed Home twice. Ok.
Here is my problem - I used to use a Tasker task that involved TeslaLED plugin to trigger the flash. Then I found the Assistive light widget, which is a way faster in comparison with TeslaLED. It's virtually instant. But a widget is not the way I like to trigger the flash. It's just not convenient. I thought I found the solution when I found some japanese app called Widget to Shortcut, but it hangs during the widget analysis.
So I'm looking for a way to get an application that simply will be triggering the flash the way the Assistive Light does. Instantly. The best approach is to have the same codebase or activity or intent that implements it (not sure what term is correct here).
And yes, I already tried the hidden Settings activity that allows to use VolUp to enable the flashlight. But it seems not stable to me. First - it stops working if the phone in the deep sleep mode (at least, I guess it's the reason). So, if my phone is intact for a few minutes, I can't use VolUp to fire the light up. And other thing I worried about - I found that this hidden activity somehow prevents the phone from sleeping in certain conditions and that noticeably affected the uptime of my Galaxy SIII.
Plus, I read here that somebody said the same widget on S4 has a lower light level of LED and this was made intentionally. The guy was upset, but here I see the utility - is it possible to choose how bright the LED level could be, in particular for Samsung Galaxy SIII? That would be awesome if I could switch between light levels for a flashlight, just like in real hardware flashlights!
Does anybody knows an answer to either of my questions?
Thanks!
Regards,
Eugene

It is not my work...

I've setup two user accounts on my tablet, one for me and one for my daughter. The only way I've found to switch accounts is to lock the tablet. However I have it setup not to lock until it has been idle for 30 minutes. This means there seems to be no way to switch users but to leave the tablet alone for said time.
Is there no quicker way to lock the tablet or switch users (widget?)? The quick settings pull-down, menu has no such option.

No, I have it set to turn off the screen only (and want to keep it this way). So did Sony remove the change user quick setting?

This whole 30-min-timeout thing is not clever.
You should better configure it (e.g. with Tasker or Unlock with WiFi app) so that, when you're at home connected with your own WiFi, there is only the unsecure lockscreen (where you just have to swipe to unlock), but when unconnected from home WiFi, the secure lockscreen appears. In either case, you then have access to the lockscreen features like user switching.
Hi,
I am planning to use a few of these things for home automation purposes.
I have a prototype installation running using Home Assistant and so far it can do the things that I need. Basically it is currently displaying a Home Assistant dashboard by default on boot and Home Assistant does the rest.
There is just one thing I would like to improve and that is the "regular use case" of a light switch:
So when you enter/leave the room and just touch the device with your hand (like you would when turning on/off a regular european-style light switch), I would like to trigger a certain event.
"touch with your hand" would be a multitouch event with at least two simultaneous touch events.
Do you know of any tool that could handle that?
I already had a look at tasker, but the events I need are not present there.
I was also looking for an "overlay app", but was unsuccessful.
It should also work when the screen is off, so the solution must be able to distinguish if the device was woken up by a single touch or by a multitouch.
Is that even possible?
Thanks for your input,
Morgenstern
