I do it using fastboot I believe there are other methods.
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
fastboot reboot
i didnt search or nothing (i know im a horrible person) but where would one go about creating one of these splash.img's?
Lol ill post a link for howtos in justa minute.

If anybody is interested, I think I've come up with a process for changing the splash screen on initial boot up.
This is how it will progress:
1. boot phone into bootloader (so it will be ready later)
2. confirm that your 'splash1.bmp' file is located in the 'Tools' folder
3. confirm that there is now a file called 'splash1.bmp.nb'
4. confirm that the 'splash1.bmp.nb' file has been renamed to 'splash1.img'
5. go ahead and connect your phone to the USB cable and your computer then wait 15 seconds
6. check for 2 'OKAY' outputs from the flashing process and wait for 15 seconds again
7. then the batch file will reboot your phone and exit the command window
(waiting to connect the phone to the USB and the two 15 second waits may not be strictly necessary, but I prefer to limit the number of possible things that could corrupt the process)
I've included the bitmap I used for the full process and have had success using [email protected]'s 'splash1.img' in the short process for existing 'splash1.img' files described in the instructions in the zip file.
As always constructive feedback would be helpful if I've missed something.
Darn you! I've been looking for like 2.5 hours trying to get a bmp to convert to img file. Now you come in here flaunting your stupid brain and stuff and now I have a custom splash screen. I HATE YOU.
Sorry...but thats about how long it took me to write out the instructions as concisely as I could AFTER I figured out how to do it!
Any suggestions for clarity in the guide? Any hitches in the process?
I'll check back tomorrow...my head keeps bouncing off my keyboard and I am tired of correcting typos...
I do have a question, is that ability to convert something to an .img file something that has to be done within that directory? or is it just an ability that command line/ terminal have?
The bitmap to img conversion process is the work of the 'nbimg.exe' program I put in the 'Tools' folder of the zip file. It will convert a bitmap into an '.nb' file (which is then renamed '.img') or if you rename the '.img' file back to '.nb' it will convert it back into a bitmap.
Instructions can be found by opening a command prompt where the 'nbimg.exe' file is located and running it without any parameters...you'll get a brief usage explanation and a listing of possible parameters (some of which I have no idea what they are for).
The program was apparently written back in 2008 by a Pau Oliva from XDA. Props to him.
Custom Splash Screen.
Thanks hdmunger the script worked like a champ.

I have a favor to ask if its ok for you people who know how to make a boot animation, can you make a boot animation that has the name Richard on it, I would make it myself but I'm on vacation and my computer is at home..

I might be interested in helping. I have made a few and have a couple of programs that cut down on a lot of the grunt work. Let me know some more details of what you are looking for though. Do you have anything else in mind as far as graphics, colors, etc? I'm not that great at making them from still images, as I prefer to make them from a video. Bounce around youtube or google videos and let me know if anything catches your eye and I'll see what I can do.
Richard,
Here are a coupe examples of how to make a custom boot animation.
They are very simple. Look inside these and see the folder layout and view the desc.txt file.
I made these using MS Paint in about 5 minutes.
Edit to your liking.
NOTE: use 7zip to zip the bootanimations you make. Archive format = ZIP. Compression method = store. (make sure you remove any "Thumbs.db" files from your folders before zipping or you can get a flicker when the bootanimation runs. Google how to show hidden files and delete the "Thumbs.db" file from any folder that has pictures in it)
1.) Download the desired animation, rename the zip file to "bootanimation.zip" and move into your Android SDK/Tools folder.
2.) Run the following adb command to push the animation into the proper place:
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
3.) preview the animation (from your computer to your phone)
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
CTRL+C to exit

"desc.txt" contains the following info:
Code:
320 480 10
p 1 0 main
p 0 0 loop
To change the frame rate of the animation adjust the "10" at the end of the first line. Play with it until you like the speed of your animation.
Creating these animations can be pretty fun. Time consuming... but fun
~Enjoy!

Quick way of making your own
Quick way to make your own is to edit image without extracting the zip in linux or windows <<< i think
right click on zip
open
do not extract
open
when the window opens
double click on boot folder
then right click on image
open with gimp image editor
if you dont have gimp i really think you need it i love it lol
when window open with image
click edit then clear
then drag and drop the image you want there move center shrink or strech edit the image
click save
not save as but save
it will ask you to update zip
click update
done
rename it
This post is for people that dont have linux or gimp and want to give moboot some shine flash and go types lol
I screwed up. I downloaded the blue command jpeg copied it to /boot and renamed it to moboot.background.tga
Now TP won't boot. I can get to USB mode.
How can I put the proper moboot.background.tga that I have downloaded. Push it with adb?
Or,
I still have a backup of another moboot theme in that boot folder called moboot.background.bak. How can I deleted the current moboot.background.tga and rename the .bak to moboot.background.tga?
EDIT:
Using Webos doctor to repair and I'll be fine from there
What's up, guys! I am proud to present you a bundle of one cool boot animation and one splash screen (the image that appears when you turn on your device) for your beloved HTC EVO 3D. Whether it is the GSM or CDMA variant, you will still be able to run them.
What is Maxell Audio?
Maxell Audio, as I want to call it, is a simple, yet inspiring and unique boot animation. Inspired by Maxell's well-known budget headphones, it manages to take your phone to another musical dimension. It carries the distinct green color found on the named headphones and also their outline. Combine them all and you will get something that was never seen before!
What about the splash screen?
The splash screen is the first thing you see when you turn on your phone. The old HTC logo has become quite boring, hasn't it? I'm sure it has, at least for me. To suit the Maxell Audio Boot Animation, I've come up with a custom splash screen, named Maxell Splash. The dominant color is black, with some green gradients. It's minimalistic, simple, elegant and the favorite amongst my testers.

Maxell Boot Animation
Installation
HERE, I'M SUPPOSING THAT YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH FASTBOOT COMMANDS, ROOT AND ALL OTHER RELATED THINGS. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH SOMETHING, PLEASE LEAVE THE TUTORIAL AND DO A RESEARCH FIRST. OTHERWISE, YOU ARE RISKING BRICKING YOUR DEVICE!!!
The installation is quite simple, actually. Just follow my steps and you should be good:
Extract the downloaded zip archive
Rename the boot animation to bootanimation.zip
Put it on your phone's SD Card
Using a root file manager, copy the animation to the following directory: /system/customize/resource
Overwrite your current boot animation
Reboot and enjoy!
And now for the splash screen
Extract the downloaded zip archive
Reboot your device into fastboot mode (bootloader)
In CMD, type the following fastboot command: fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
In CMD, type: fastboot reboot
Enjoy!
Download
Feedback
Please share your feedback! I'm committed to improving this bundle in any way possible. Thank you for your patience!
I'll definitely be checking this out, thanks man!

I am waiting for your feedback!
You need three things besides your phone:
You lost data/wifi when flashing a CM UPDATE, this is your fault for not reading the threads, The FIX IS BELOW, in simple, plain english, easy to understand. DON'T MAKE ME DRAW PICTURES
1) Android SDK
https://developer.an.../sdk/index.html
Download it and install it. I'll only describe it for Windows OS.
2) The correct ROM
https://download.cya.../?device=enrc2b
or from my CM-12.1/AOSP threads
Download it and open it with WinRAR or Winzip or just unpack the whole thing. Directly in the root folder you'll see a file called boot.img
3) USB Cable connection between the phone and your PC
Connect the device to your PC. On your phone go to settings and enable USB debugging.
Now you are ready to flash the boot image.
a) copy the boot.img to the same folder as fastboot
if you downloaded the package from above, you'll see a folder structure that is a bit overwhelming. Navigate to
C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20140702\sdk\platform-tools
and copy the file called boot.img from the ROM there.
B) open up the terminal
click on start and enter cmd.exe
enter the folder with
cd /
cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20140702\sdk\platform-tools
c) start the flashing
Now type:
adb reboot bootloader
or alternatively, restart your phone manually and press the buttons Power and Volume down until you see a white menu screen.
Now type:
fastboot devices
and you should see your phone
d) flash the boot.img
type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
That's it, 3G and WiFi should work now. A more extensive How-To can be found here:

Taken from my thread of the same title from the CM forums

Hey,@ Lloir
Ive tried this for my stock ROM that ive reverted to after having cyanogenmod 11, but it didnt work, I used the same boot.img from the firmware.zip. it did work successfully when reverting to cyanogen after it didn't work though.
What have I missed?
Any help would be appreciated.
MODIFIED TWRP IMAGES FOR TITAN!Yeah, that's it. I was thinking about making twrp images for our device with every single color which you can found in this nice thread. Yes, I know that we can put the theme in /TWRP/theme/. But, why don't get rid of that annoying folder, make the change permanent, and most of all, share knowledge? That's what I'm going to do by making even easier the above guide, plus I'll be uploading modified twrp images (when I got time) ready to flash.
We need:
TWRP Image for titan.
Android Kitchen 2.4 for Windows. It's in the attachments section.
Uncompressed themes. You can choose your fav color there.
Patience and common sense.
1. Uncompress the Android Kitchen zip in your desktop (or any other folder), and download your favorite theme color. Uncompress it too.
2. Put the twrp image which you previously downloaded in the Android Kitchen folder (in the same folder where are the .bat files and so on).
3. Drag the image file to the "unpackimg.bat". There'll be a folder called ramdisk afterwards.
4. Go to ramdisk/twres/, and keep it open in a window. Remember the uncompressed theme folder from the first point? Well, open the uncompressed folder and move this: "images", "portrait.xml", "splash.xml", "ui.xml" to /ramdisk/twres. If windows asks if you want to move and replace these files, hit yes to everything.
5. Go back to the Android Kitchen Folder and click repackimg.bat; wait, and voilá, there'll be a new-image.img. Flash it from fastboot or from twrp itself (remember to check the "recovery" box). Click in "Reboot Recovery" to see how your twrp looks now.
That's all!
Images below are only for titan, not for thea/osprey/falcon. Just click the color, download and flash! They're ready to be flashed.

1. Drag the .img to the unpackimg.bat
2. A new folder (ramdisk) will be created afterwards in the same directory.
