[PATCH][3/3] CM7 Pattern Unlock Fix - nightly 11 - Wildfire Themes and Apps

Hi everyone,
Those of you who like pattern unlock might have noticed how bad the layout is on the lockscreen in CM7.
The dots are huge and overlap each other and the thing is embarrassing to use
I never really used it for that reason... but a friend of mine really wanted to use it and was annoyed at CM7 for this eek. I was bored and had nothing to do so I went ahead and remade the layout for the unlock screen.
I wanted to post this in the development forum but I haven't made 10 posts yet and don't really know what to post
Here's what I did:
Lowered font size of clock
Lowered some margins
Resized the dots' .png's
Removed the space for custom message (I never used it, if you really want I might make another one including it) EDIT: Looks like the option isn't even there yet (at least in nightly #47) so it was redundant anyway
Get it here
Screenshot is attached
THIS WAS MADE FOR THE CM7 NIGHTLY BUILDS SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED BELOW!!!! IT PROBABLY WON'T WORK WITH OTHER NIGHTLIES!!!! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!
Installation:
Just reboot into recovery, make a nandroid backup to be safe, flash the zip, reboot again.
Thanks to HCDR.Jacob for the awesome ROM
Feel free to hit Thanks if you like it!
CHANGELOG:
v1.2 [9/2]
[20/2] Added patch for new nightly #2
[17/2] Added patch for CM7 RC1
[14/2] No more exclusive packages for blue dots, the blue dots have been integrated into the Cyanbread theme and are included in the normal zips.
[12/2] All flashable zips can now be downloaded at my dropbox - saves a lot of uploading mess
[17/2] Added patch for nightly #59 framework
[11/2] Added patch for nightly #51 framework
Added patch for nightly #47 framework
Minor margin adjustments and made the status text one line only (found that some apps modify it and it can expand to more than one line, = ugly)
v1.1
[4/2] Added a patch with blue dots to go with cyanbread
[3/2] Added patch for nightly #35 framework
Added patch for nightly #32 framework (should work on #33 too?? test please??)
Added left and right margins to the unlock widget to make it square
Fixed odd coloured unlock sliders when not using pattern lock

Thank you!

ur welcome

works like a charm!
Thank you!

Beautiful mate, thanks!

hey,
the lockscreen pattern looks really nice, but as already in your
description said, its only for nightly #19. When I tried to flash it
to #33 I got into a bootloop..
So my question is..
Which files of the framework did you exactly modify?
So i could try to overwrite them in the current nightly.. (just for testing)

I made a patch for the nightly 32 framework, see if it works on 33.
I don't remember the exact name of the xml file (it was long lol...), too lazy to find it again now (deleted the compiled xml without seeing the filename )
I'll find it if the nightly 32 patch doesn't work.
Nightly 32 didn't work for me.... the 4.2 kernel and #32 both gave me boot problems. (again, not enough posts to post in dev forum )

jacob seems to have fixed that ugly pattern some time ago http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,2638, but yours will probably still be better Why don't you let him know and push it upstream?

Thanks for the info. I didn't know
But I wasn't able to make out from that link whether that was for the pattern unlock screen, or the pattern-creating screen, or what (there was some stuff about password-unlock and code-unlock, and the changed files are in the Settings app)
Either way, I'll follow your advice and tell Jacob.
This will still be good for people stuck with #19 though (like me )
EDIT: on further viewing, that change proabably IS in settings. (choose lock pattern, lock pattern example, confirm lock pattern)

That's what it looks like. So it'd be even better if you could contact jacob to push it into git
Oh! Would you mind sharing that wallpaper?

Yep, that's a setting overlay, the path is obvious : overlay/packages/apps/Settings/res/layout/
(overlay folder => packages/apps (an app overlay) => Settings (name) => res/layout/ (will override default package files with those files => an overlay )
if you made your fix using apktool ((bak)smali / apkmanager), let jacob knows the value so he can make an overlay of it.
Else send him your overlay
edit: btw, good job for this, I actually though I would never use a Pattern lock since CM6 again, but now that we have a decent layout

So is an overlay like a file which overrides a system file to modify layout without changing the framework???
I don't know how to make one... I just dug around in the framework till I found the necessary file. I've told Jacob about it (waiting for a reply), maybe I'll just list all the changes I made and send another PM.
edit: yeah i used apktool, and thanks

Nightly #35.
Lock Pattern works like a charm. .
Thx for that.

updated to nightly 47

How do I install this? metamorph ?
Bihariel, can you try updating european version or say me what are the changes it includes? (services.jar)

Hi!
Great Thanks for your Theme, it really looks nice and works fine for me.
Im running 2.34 Rom with deodexed and Jit Files right like the guide of Sorensiim.
I only have a few questions and small issues now...
Is it possible to merge this framework with another one, id take the original european one, so there will be more regions chooseable, especially Germany.
What files do i have to replace in the original 2.34 euro framework-res?
only the drawable folders? color folder?
The 2nd issue i have is the display style of the service provider name....in your screenshot its quite big and bright white, mine is small and grey...as you can see at my attached screenshot.
Everything else works fine, also the white text that shows up e.g. when installing something.
Ill attach the euro framework-res, as you can see its a lot bigger than yours, i think thats the missing region support. Perhaps anyone else also wants to try merging these two.
Update:
My tries to merge the two frameworks didnt really have great success...
I always copied the files from the sense framework into the original framework using winrar.
It always worked, but not everything was as it should be:
on the first try i only replaced the folders up to the last drawable one.....
The result was black text instead of white in the notification bar.
2nd try was to copy and replace everything except the resources.arsc
The Result was white text in the notification but the menu test when pressing the menu softkey on the homescreen now was black on black.
The display of the service provider as shown in the screenshot never changed.
If any1 has another idea, let me know....
Until then, ill live without having the german region and some minimal rests of english interface.
Hi Bihariel, can you tell me if its possible to uninstall this theme?. Or can I make a backup of current theme and then apply yours?

yes, you should backup framework-res.apk and services.jar from the folder framework using root explorer.

nice theme bro
keep the good work
i actually prefer blur to sense. blur still seems like its android where with sense it seems to loose that i think
My network signal is still black and so operator name. If there's a way to fix it?
Language is English, but locale set to russian, if this matters.
I installed it via recovery and got a reboot(???) on 1st boot, but now it works ok... gotta reboor it one more time for a check )) framework-res.apk
On a stock there is 5 sticks, and here is 4, when the signal is maximum, it is black. Would you fixed it?
And it is use many power. in powertutor without - 50m, with 1100m
My fimware is 2.34 official
good job nice looking
Working on Chinese froyo ?
Hi,
I prefer the sense jog things and unicolor notification icons over the default ones, however i really dislike the gradient bar. So i have slighlty modified the op's theme: I've put a few icons from gingerbread and fixed the black signal icon issue. The notification bar has also been changed (provider name is now readable).
To install, please first flash signed_sense_defy_fixed (see first post), then push the attached framework-res.apk to /system/framework using adb.
Edit: it seems like every time i update framework-res, the android market FC on me. To fix this issue, just clear market cache and then uninstall the app update (it will be reinstalled automatically from what i can see).

[Abandoned]Home Button Lagfix & Haptic fix for Hellraised ROMs

After all this framework hack does not work well under too many ROMs and causes lots of confusion about version. I accidentally found a universal solution to Home Button vibration that works with JKay theme and won't break anything. So this method is abandoned.Hi everyone. I have been Hellraising i9100 ROMs since Entropy's release, however was puzzled by the Home button which lags and won't give any feeling of touch when pressed.
After some research I finally figured out how to fix this. I made 2 versions, one for XXKI3 and another for XXKI4
Currently ROMs incorporates JKay theme mods (Sensation) are not working.
(Sorry I was too excited to notice I compiled both file from custom ROMs that were containning extended power menu, the fix is not universal and try at your own risk!).
Installtion Instructions:
1. Place the zip file into your Internal SD
2. Reboot into Recovery and select "install zip from sdcard"
3. Select "install from SD card", choose YES
4. hit return and reboot
You should have haptic feedback on Home now, also the Home button should respond instantly.
Caution:
Only apply to ROMs that are based on supported Samsung builds.
android.policy.jar varies from build to build so can not hybrid with different versions.
Credit:

DesignGears - home button haptic fix code reference
Ande definitely Entropy512, for the awesomeness of Hellraiser!
Please let me know if anything happens.

Thanks.... can you please post what code is changed within it (FOR HOME HAPTIC FEEDBACK) so I can mod the one for the rom I'm using. I don't want to use a generic one.
Thanks!
EDIT: Its rom specific.....you can't do generic addons.... It broke my rom which is why posting the actual change would be best. It booted but broke JKAY mods

I think KI4 version works for checkROM. However just forget I modified both from custom ROMs so does not work universally...
There are multiple places in smali that needs to edit. So you might want to compare your original file with the attachment.
It's <decompiled dex folder>\com\android\internal\policy\impl\PhoneWindowManager.smali

I don't have time to poke at this (busy sobering up after a party...) but: I suggest providing the modded version,a nd the original, and diffing them.
Note that according to Mikey, designgears' patch accidentally caught a bunch of changes that weren't related to home-button.
And yes, just copying the smali will cause an epicfail most likely, ESPECIALLY if targeting a JKay theme, as JKay did dome significant mods to that smali file.
FYI, shoman94, you've gotten as far as I ever did - I never got a working mod, but I've been pretty busy this week.

Thanks for pointing out, I recalled many other other modifications to the android.policy.jar after I posted but I cannot edit the title of thread now...
When comparing the 2 smali files (Original and DesignGear modified), except the lines for home button I only saw difference in conditions, which I don't really understand. It was a experiment that I just copyed the whole PhoneWindowManager.smali then compiled. The compiled file worked.
The file I posted is from a KI4 ROM with extended power menu with header, however since header modification is in GlobalActions.smali I think this should not affect compiling.
Tell me if I got anything wrong, first time looking into the bytecodes
Will be very thankful if you have time to look at this

There are quite a few CyanogenMod settings that you need to set, so I've simply uploaded the theme.xml file I created:

All my themes push various apks and fonts to the system, so this undo zip just replaces any possible changed apks and fonts with the default ones from CM6. This just saves you the time and effort of reflashing CM6 entirely, in case you've done some mods to your system partition (like I do )

Sorry guys! The one I uploaded was incorrect (blame my crappy organization of directory structure haha). I thought it was fishy b/c mine flashed just fine
Bear with me as I learn how to theme, this is only my second working one heh. It still has a few bugs to be ironed out (the most noticeable one is the menu).
Just to confirm, this is for the ODEX version. It's attached to this post. I'll try to update the OP!
Update: Please download v2, which has black text on menus fixed!
It looks like you're only theming framework-res.apk & since there is no .odex for that I think it should work on either the odexed or deodexed version. (I THINK)
I would love to do some theming too =) , is there any nice tutorial where I can learn about this ?
I updated the OP with v5 of the Gingerbread theme. I think it's pretty much complete now, unless there are outstanding issues. Please let me know how it is!
The ICS theme made for Milaq's CM6 is extremely slow for some reason...I'll play around with it some more this week.
An easier one to adapt first is GingerBlur...more on that later
I've added GingerBlur to the OP Check it out, and let me know if there are broken parts!
It's a nice change from black Gingerbread and ICS
Hi Molohov! Nice work! I'd like to suggest putting little numbers into the battery icons to show the battery percentage because its annoying not being able to see it (CM's font is too big for my liking). Oh, and do you have the CRT animation version of the odexed 6.3.7?

Which theme did you want the 10% battery icons on? It may require a metamorph script to do efficiently on all the themes.
I haven't compiled a CRT animation version of 6.3.7. The bug with the screen not turning off completely really frustrates me, but I haven't had time to really go in depth with it. I'll try compiling a version this weekend, just for you

Haha, thanks! How about ICS theme?
Here's my first revision of my port of the ICS Theme from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345059
Ice Cream Sandwich
What's themed: Framework, Phone, Contacts
This took a little while as I had to play around with the drawable/*.xml and value/*.xml files to get the right effects in the original theme.
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?5bkaa90r1pw3mpc
There are quite a few CyanogenMod settings that you need to set, so I've simply uploaded the theme.xml file I created:
View attachment Ics.txt
Just rename it from ics.txt to ics.xml and place it in /sdcard/CMTheme. Then apply it through CyanogenMod Settings > User Interface > Tweaks extras > Select a theme
Revision History:
v1: Themed framework-res, Phone, Contacts. Modified horizontal progress bars, checkmark and radio button backgrounds.
Enjoy!! It's quite a slick theme.
Missing slide unlocker graphics
Hi molohov,
I am quite happy with your themes. btw, i noticed some of the slide unlock styles are missing (eg rotary) in gingerblur at least. I hope you can add it because it is my favorite. ^^
I hope we can have more themes.
By the way, this is too much to ask, but could you post some tutorial how to make a very simple theme. I was a theme creator on sony psp and released some of my works in public. This way i might be able to help creating more themes. thanks a lot.

I'll see if I can compile a quick and dirty theme porting guide this week.
Does anyone have sileshnair's old Gingerblur theme from these threads? My web sleuthing skills are particularly lacking today, or this is incredibly hard to find.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202099
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1214213
They probably have the lockscreen images that I need to port.

Thanks, I hope you can completely port all of the elements... ^^
I got permission from two theme authors to port these two themes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327602

Look forward to their porting
As I've been pretty busy this week, I hope to release a tutorial sometime tomorrow or this weekend. Sorry for the delay!

Thanks for the positive feedback. Was planning on starting with the icons today. Will give it a go and see what I can do I just wanted to get the framework right before modding the icons
Awesome work man !!
I was keenly searching for some like this .. awesome work man for incorporating features of both AOSP and TW in single rom.
Although I was wondering , if it would be possible to change DPI to say 210-220 which would make the rom rather pleasing to eyes. With new S3 touchwiz (or even the old one) everything looks so big. So if the LCD density can be altered in build.prop such that dailer is not affected, that it would be amazing.
Keep up the good work !! will give the rom a try today ..
Love it so far....could you port the s3 lock screen by any chance?

can you add some 3g tweaks?
Nothing original, only a simple rom. Must be moved to the developement section.

3g should be fixed now as of V1.1. The modem was changed to a more stable version with reliable 3g and Wifi
Portal Rom V1.1 Download has been linked on the 1st post
Portal Rom 1.1
Everything listed in Version 1.0
Removed some Apps that can be installed from the Play Store
Settings got new Glow icons to match the rest of the Rom
S-Voice was included as a default feature including wake up features and Dock features
Changed the Modem to XXLPS as it obtains a Wifi lock quicker and in general seem more stable than the new XXLPX.
3G and Wifi Stability resolved. It was related to the latest modem driver.
Rom got a Performance boost by removing start-up scripts that was running in the background. This is not affecting functionality but you should see better battery and overall performance - Let me know please if it made a difference
TW4 has been updated and it should respond a little bit smoother than before.
Love how the OP is trying so hard to ignore all those messages about "not original" or "must be moved"
Seriously though it must be moved!

i wouldn't say he is ignoring..simply not paying attention to post that point out nothing of real importance....your post would be such a post....
simply posting something to be noticed does not make your post a good post....
sure it may not belong here, but that is for MODS to decide, not some user looking to point fingers....contribute, develop, or simply read and don't post anything...
OP, i am finding the phone locks up like a biznotch when i answer a call....the screen goes black and i am unable to waken it back up...pretty annoying when trying to call my voicemail!
Look nice. Loved it if all of the samsung bloatware were removed

Is that on V1.1 or on V1.0?
V1.0 was using a flakey modem where V1.1 it was replaced by a proven reliable Modem.
I am in essence reading what everyone is saying and its sad that pointing the finger is all they are able to contribute to my rom I worked on and other ppl's roms. What constitutes original? Considering what original means "unique" please show me a rom exactly like mine?
Would only the 1st CM9 then be considered original and ALL the others then just be classified as "nothing original" as its just theming?
I did have this discussion with a Mod and it really don't matter to me where it is hosted. This is something I am doing for the users not for myself.
Problem occurred on both v1 and v1.1.
I think it may have to do with the UV. Going to fully wipe and reflash 1.1.
Will use voltage control to change the UV settings.

The 1st option affecting boot up image, blue bg with firefox logo instead of gray background with mozilla foundation text. The same also applies for browser logo (nightly logo or firefox logo).
The 2nd option actually has been applied. If you take a look at my screenshot, all the 4 item is is spaced up nicely. In your screenshot (which I believe after applying the ota update), is packed to the center.
The LED issue and accelerometer I mentioned in my post was caused by missed step to patch the thing. I have built a new one with led and sensor fixed. I haven't upload it though. If anyone interested, I can upload it later after my internet return to normal.
EDIT: Oh one more. Credit should be fully given to NeuralAssembly. I just build from his source, using his instruction

i tried replacing b2g folder from a hd branch build for galaxy nexus. then the icons and ui were nearly perfect but the ui was a bit larger than the screen.
would love if you share your new build. thanks.

Just interested in the brand-new designed Firefox OS. Hope that you can upload your latest build at all time.
Hello, my build fails, I have multiple error during building, with sinescope.cpp and audioloop ? I probably did something wrong but I followed everything carefully. is it a bad sync ?
Edit :
I tried just the build.sh with otapackage on the line it did gave me other I just don't get it although I m use to compile But not as advanced
I would't mind if you'd upload it actually. Can I use the standard 9.1 kernel provided by cyanogen ?
I deleted the whole directory, and restarted the git, I think it's becaues I went out of space, and I think it didn t resume
just curious, how much is the repo size when completely downloaded?? anyway all the best and happy compiling!
mine's 15,5giga. i dl'ed the rom from the other thread as in post 1 here, I still would like to know what went wrong do i flash gapps over it ?
Edit : no gapps have to be installed.
My only concerns so far :
- battery sticks to 100% with green led on
- the browser flips upside down and since most apps are browser i have to use perfectly horizontally.
- I don't like the apn settings

I was able to get the battery indicator working by replacing b2g folder from a build for coconut (Live with walkman??). Then it showed the battery status properly in the status bar.
Yeah, no gapps. Android things don't work here i guess.:cyclops:
Hope you are trying to build from the HD branch! :fingers-crossed: Thanks.
can anyone please upload a latest build which can support voice and data?

Have you copy/pull the prebuilt binary from the ics rom?
