I updated my xperia x10a from 1.6 to 2.1 rogers and android market says "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." How do i fix this?
sometimes you just need to restart, you can also try to kill all the apps using task killer and then trying with the market again
Ive restarted and killed apps and tried everything i can think of... im thinking i need some other firmware or something... this is not 2.1.1. Its the 2.1 roger version. Would it be better if i went to 2.1.1? Can i still have root access if i do such?
hmmm not sure, I got the stock one (see my sign) saw somewhere the apk for the newest market maybe can help, root access can be achieve with one click root xD
Ok i went into applications and uninstalled updates for the market. When i went back on the market it reupdated itself and seems to be working fine! =D

After updating to JI6, I'm unable to download and install, sometimes even to find on the market, the Nytimes app.
Perhaps it's connected to my flashing the upgrade via Odin after my OTA attempt failed and I lost all my prior apps and data.
In all events, is there anything I can do to get it back?
Since I rooted my Droid Eris and installed a Froyo rom, I have been unable to find it on the market as well.
I found an older version of it and installed it, but it crashes every time I open it.
I wonder if the app doesn't work on froyo and that's why it's not on the market.
It was on the market as of last week, before I rooted the app and installed Froyo.
I hope someone else can find more information about this.

I've checked the market again (searching for nytimes) and it did not appear. I've installed a few other apps from the market with no problems.
I read that at least one other person was having problems searching for specific apps (although not the nytimes) in the market using the same rom that I'm using, Tazzfroyo I'm guessing that might be the problem for myself, and the same type of problem could be it for the OP as well.
I'll keep you updated.

a ROM does not effect how the market behaves. Google does.
You might be living in another place where the NYTimes app is not being released, for country reasons.
There are apps that others cant see but you can.
There's a app that lets you see all forgot name though

Try this as well as dl appbrain. Some rare occasions I cannot find an app so I browse though appbrain and it links me to the market download. I actually had to dl it with the xda tapatalk app and the sirius app.

After clearing the market cache and rebooting; and then installing appbrain [although it did appear in appbrain], The NYTIMES still did not appear in the market.
I then ran the Eris Market Fix (the newest version, v1.7) rebooted - which fixed my problem ! nytimes app finally appeared in the market. =)
I'm in the US so I don't know why the app wouldn't appear in my market before running the market fix...
After rooting I did the Market Fix and installed the Market.
Later It started to work but whenever I try to download a free application it is stuck on Starting download....
I thought at first oh okay...
I waited 5 minutes it was still stuck like that and I tried being close to my wireless router...
Nothing helped and I restarted the phone...
So just asking how am I supposed to download applications now from the Market after I rooted?
I also did fake my provider and thought that would work?
PLEASE HELP I AM DESPERATE!

it might help to state where you are from, I am rooted and unlocked and the market works just fine. The more info you give the better the help
Try going in to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Market -> Uninstall updates. I tried this and it got my market working again.
Since two days there are problems with the Market. I can´t download anything, too.
Well I am from the Dubai and rooted it here...
I got superuser and managed to install Vending.apk aka the Market
I tried to download but it is stuck on starting download...
I just uninstalled updates....

Doing that solved the problem.
My X10 is not rooted, still today unable to download any apps from Market.
Have rooted x10a with Roger's Canada. Can download Apps with no prob ... except for anything in uk. Contacted Google .. they claim its my phone or settings & NOT their system. Anyone else ??

Hi, I'm having a similar problem here. My Market is apparently working correctly, I can search and download apps. But I've been having some problems with some apps that can't find on the Market although being available.
I did the MarketFix when I rooted and updated my phone to RB2BA026. An example of an app that can't find on Market: Multitasking Lite.
BTW, when you say "Market->Uninstall updates", are you talking about removing "Market Updater", because I can't find anything about uninstalling updates of the Market app.

When it stopped listing certain apps I went in to the 'market' app info and clicked 'clear cache'.
When it stopped working altogether (a few weeks later after the silent market update) I went in to the 'market' app info and clicked on the 'Uninstall updates'. The market updated itself 3 days later without any issues.
To cover all approches I'd suggest clearing the cache and then the updates. Then turn off the phone and do a battery pull. I hope this helps.
There's no "Uninstall updates", so I've tried first removing "Market Updater" but nothing happened. So then I tried removing "Market" to install again from a backup I supposedly have done before, but for my surprise Titanium Backup wont restore the Market app backup.
Now I'm with no Market app at all! So I need it from someone, please PM it.

this worked for me
The fix mentioned here only works as long as the Market doesn't automatically redownload itself, at which point I have to uninstall it again. That's fine most of the time, but what do you do when it automatically updates the market as soon as you uninstall the update?
I have purchased apps that no longer recognize that I bought them because of this market update that keeps going on without my permission. Is there some way to stop or block the update until this gets fixed? I'm getting very tired of being called a pirate by several apps I legitimately bought.
I would like to have the old market. I tried installing the old one but everytime I open the market it will work ok for 5 minutes and then I receive the push update for the new market. I would like to have the old one because the new one doesn't work with market enabler.
Any ideas?

Do you have Titanium Backup? If you do, there is a something called market updater. All you need to do is tap the market updater and freeze it and no more updating. It will also only update via WiFi.
thanks, now im testing it, will report back if I get the push update again. Do you know if there is any other way to simulate other carrier to have a US market?

Non market apps enabler does work with new android market. I have both and works flawlessly.

Reverts back to old Market.
Every time I have tried the new Market, I drop data, so I am staying with the old Market until they fix it.

I'm having some issues with the Facebook app.
The other day my friend told me there was an update, so I went to try and get it. The update didn't show up for me.
Today I switched ROM and tried to download the Facebook app and I can't even find it.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Ok, now I can't see Google Maps or Opera Mini.
These are my commonly used apps. Maybe Google think I download too much of the same app?

try using the pc web version of the android market.
If u use a rom with custom lcd density (140), you have to change it to install facebook
so i was using market enabler 1.8.5 for about a year now and everything was going great until just last night when i tried going into the US market and the play store 3.10.10 still displays my local market ... I've tried installing market access , market unlocker and even newer versions of market enabler with no luck... also tried using the droidVPN app but no luck there either .... cleared the cache, cleared data , rebooted ... ive done everything and nothing is happening and the play store still displays my local market
i wish someone could help me with faking my provider because its really driving me crazy ..
update :
i tried restoring a nandroid backup back when the market enabler was working, and guess what ?!
STILL not working .. i am going crazy here !

Same issue happened with me, when I saw my region I was surprised as to what happened and checked again, when going to final transaction it shows US. but still, it's driving me nuts. Google Play Services might be responsible for this, it tends to update itself

I used it to fake to Japanese market, so it is not a region problem. Market must have updated something :crying:

Happening to me too. Started two days back. Tried all methods. different versions of market enabler, market access and market unlocker. Tried downgrading play store to 3.7.XXXX. Doesn't work. Automatically upgrades itself to 3.10.XXXX, a few minutes later. Tried different ROMS, not working. Tried ViperX, CM10, icecoldjelly on my HOX. Restored to a previous time when market access was working, doesn't work no more. The only possible explanation for me is that google has blacklisted me, or blocked me, or whatever. Maybe using a different google account might work.
3 different apps (MarketEnabler, MarketAccess, Market Unlocker) not working for me anymore either. The weird thing is that Google Play Store from the browser still sees my phone as T-Mobile US i9100, but I don't see the buy button anymore.
I guess google changed the way it's fetching relevant data from the phone... any fixes yet?

Same here. It just stopped to work half a day ago. Clearing market data, rebooting and reverting to 2.6 market doesn't seem to help. It's really annoying since I live in China...
I heard that VPN/proxy may solve this problem but I don't have an VPN or proxy to try it out.
Besides, since many people are having this problem in these few days but not all at once, maybe this has something to do with our account/credit card/purchase history or something. Anyone tried to use another account, or maybe use the same account on another device?
OK I tried it myself, flashed a new rom, got a new Gmail account (without CC), reinstalled market unlocker and it didn't work. Removing SIM card didn't help either. Guess we have to use VPN/Proxy.
PS: It seems that market unlocker works with PC play store though.
Guess we are stuck like this. People who live in us or gb, or someplace where the play store doesn't suck, are really very lucky. This is driving me crazy. Not being able to download top free apps and games........ not even temple run 2.....root explorer......nothing... why cant google let us select a region, then at least the cool free ones will be available to everyone. yeah...ill keep dreaming

Same issue here and I did all the steps you mentioned still didn't work .. but i see all user who got this problem there posts are new to 10 FEB 2013 so that mean may google did updated something ... i hope somebody could find the solution ... i tried both market unlocker pro and market enabler but none worked ... we will be stay tuned here untill a solution comes
