[Q] Downgrading from 2.2.1 to 2.2 - Optimus One, P500, V General

I upgraded from 2.2 to 2.2.1 and all the apps were in tact.
If I were to perform the downgrade to 2.2 will the apps still be in tact?

no you must backup them before downgrade

Flashing ROMS to Upgrade and Downgrade?

I'm new to flashing Android ROMs but I understand the concept and have flashed on several other devices in the past.
From what I have learned by reading the Streak threads is, you need to follow a specific upgrade path to move up from AT&T 1.6 (build 6601) to O2 1.6 (build 4399) to O2 2.1 (build 8105) and then finally Stephen Hyde's 2.2. And downgrading requires a similar path.
Is it possible to just take stock backups/images using Nandroid or Titanium Backup of AT&T 1.6 (build 6601), O2 1.6 (build 4399), O2 2.1 (build 8105) and Stephen Hyde's 2.2 and use those to simply restore from any version? So if I wanted to go from O2 1.6 (build 4399) to Stephen Hyde's 2.2, I would just do a Nandroid or Titanium Backup restore of 2.2. And one could also moved from 2.2 to AT&T 1.6 with a single restore.
I was talking to friend at work who has an HTC phone and he explain this is how he move between versions or custom builds. Unless I understood him wrong.
Can this be done with Dell Streak? If so it would make it much easier for the community to upgrade and downgrade. And if so can someone take the time to post the base/stock backups? If not then please explain so that I can better understand how Android flashing/booting/partitioning/backups etc... work.
I've read several posts of people stuck upgrading or downgrading. I'm one of them. I understand this is always a risk when doing these things and can only blame myself. If the above is possible it would certainly make things easier.
Thanks
Hi, I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure like you said, you can reflash previous roms via clockworkmod/nandroid but only versions upto 2.2 v1.1.1. Anything after that is a different baseband so you would need to use fastboot to get the new v1.2.0. Titanium is different to nandroid, it backs up all system data, apps + data & generally a really useful tool. Nandroid however, backs up the rom only (no apps/data/info or anything).
Hope this helps a little

[Q] Go from 1.6 to 2.2 x10?

quick question, can you flash from stock 1.6 to a 2.2 rom because i cant seem to get the official 2.1 update to work from pc companion. and if not what is an alternative method for updating to stock 2.1

[Q] Do i have to re-root if i upgrade baseband/android version?

when i got this phone(x10a) around ~6 months ago i upgraded the firmware to 2.1-update 1, the baseband to 2.1.54. I rooted the phone, installed xrecovery, drivers etc...
Im looking to upgrade the firmware to 2.3 and possibly getting cyanogenmod. I know that you have to root the phone before you install 2.3, but will upgrading the baseband, or upgrading to 2.3 remove my current root access?
No it won't remove your root access.Mostly because the ROM is already pre-rooted.However,there's a step you need to do after flashing to 2.3 that is upgrading the baseband before turning on the phone.Failure to do this, your phone may not work.
Try this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988
There's a basic guide there for 2.1 to 2.3 upgrade along with a video tutorial.

Updating OTA after unlocking bootloader

First of all, I was running gingerbread then I decided i'd downgrade so I flashed froyo, bricked, then fixed the soft brick. Now im running stock froyo on my bell atrix. I want to upgrade to gingerbread again, if my bootloader is unlocked on gingerbread is it safe to update ota still?
thanks

Noob question regarding basebands

Hello,
I have a stock froyo rom installed, so I have an old baseband. That is clear.
If I install a stock ginger rom using the LG official updater, will it update the baseband as well?
thanks
The Stock GB ROM from LG comes with the new Baseband.
Update to GB through LG updater and you'll automatically update to the new Baseband.
If you do not want to update baseband, you can still root froyo, flash a custom recovery, use the baseband fix and try out any of the custom GB or ICS roms from this forum.
Keep a nandroid froyo recovery as a backup, just incase you choose to go back to the froyo rom.
