Make a backup of current bootanimation of you wanna change.
boot faster
any ideas how to make the phone boot faster? First time I switched it on, I thought it was broken. Stupid loading. Any way to delete stupid logo booting etc.? Just boot ASAP?
the first boot is always slow, then eventually is OK.
Can you also remove bootanimation from CM v12?
Thanks!
i deleted the boot animation of my phone unable to copy anotherone

I haven't been here on XDA for a year and you quoted me yesterday =)
Just be sure that you have read/write permissions set in RootExplorer, paste bootanimation.zip and set permissions to rw-r--r--.
Reboot and enjoy your new bootscreen

Mark your bootanimation.zip by touching it for a second or two.
Then you should get a three dot menu in root explorer, press it.
Find permissions and enter.
Check boxes
First row (owner) read - write
Second row (group) read
Third row (others) read
Press "OK"
Baam, you're done

I simply modified this one with mspaint and updated it like this :
- 2010 => 2011
- 800 mhz => 1000 mhz
- Android 2.1 => Android 2.2
How to install :
You need a rooted phone.
You need Super Manager (availaible on market for free).
Using wifi/usb put bootanimation.zip where you want on the sdcard, then cut this file with Super Manager and paste it in /system/media
Reboot your phone and enjoy.
Thanks! I'll try it
It's OK, thanks!
nice thanks
Applied. This one is quite amusing

nope..
you just need to put and overwrite that .zip file in the /system/media folder.
use that app in the 1st post to do it (because you need root - and RW - privileges).
AWESOME!!!!!

Hey, stop crossposting your "not working" posts! If you describe your problem a bit more detailed, we could probably help. But not in case you mentioned above
How do u change the boot and the shutdown animation is there any tutorial on this??????

I'm pretty much a noob myself, but RootTools app has an option to choose a few diff boot anims. Not sure about shutdowns.
Read read and read. That's how I learned. You need to be rooted, use root explorer (an app) and just push it. Meaning of push, its cut/copy and paste.

Most all of them you flash in clockworkmod.
There is a lot of them in the bible
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991267
tru dat! you got 2 options:
- Flash in CwMRecovery
or
- Push bootanimation.zip into /system/media
Like a kernel or modem, bootanimations do not really require a flash at 100% battery or clearing of settings in CwMRecovery if you choose to flash it. Some bootanimations are not flashable and require you to push them into /system/media. Always read the OP will generally explain if it is flashable or not.
***I highly recommend you push it yourself. Its not hard at all and will allow you to be more familiar with your file system***
- just find the "bootanimation.zip" that you want
- move it to ur phone
tip* i've found i like to archive all bootanimations on my PC for future reference do so or skip this next step
- browse to /system/media/bootanimation.zip(this is your original) copy it to archive
- browse to where you put the bootanimation.zip you want and select "move"
- browse to /system/media/ and select paste
- select replace
- reboot phone and voila! now you have ur new bootanimation and you feel more comfortable moving system files around. Aren't you smart ur mom would be proud. Good luck!

check my post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019858
its on shutdown animations.
for boot animations.
its the same method
but the bootanimation is just in the "system/media" folder...called "bootanimation.zip"
It can be taken from any ROM from the "system/media" folder and placed in your "system/media" folder on your phone and your done.
This will make more sense after you read my forementioned post.
::thanks?::
i have tried pushing a bootanimation.zip to both my media folder and local folder and i cant get it to work any help please

Not sure which one you are trying to get on your phone.. Some animations need to be flashed through recovery.

Do you mean the set permissions check boxes? Then long press the pasted app and select permissions. Then select the desired permissions (generally user-rw, group-r, other-r, for system apps). Then just reboot the phone.

ripped this out of the 4.1 gnex ota update preview, edited it so it would work with our phone since the ripped version never played when i tried it straight from the ota. desc.txt was all mangled.

Make sure your file system is mounted as writable. I used ES File Explorer and did all the steps, and it didn't work. So I checked the ES settings and it wasn't "Mounted as writable". Once I fixed that, and did the exact same steps, it worked. The animation looks great.

Hi. I just tried that and it didn't work either. Just moving the bootanimation.zip to the \system\media is all I need to do (besides setting the permissions)? There is no other bootanimation.zip file in the media folder. How does the phone know to use the bootanimation.zip file when booting? Thanks.
Guess this will not work on stock OCS.
Does anyone have a bootanimation that is in the default Samsung format

What rom are you on? Custom boot animation may not be supported.
Is your current boot animation the android logo? There was no other bootanimation.zip in the folder for me, until I placed the renamed JB one.
here's my complete list of steps, that produced the desired results for me on Black*STAR IV ics rom:
*dl file to PC, renamed to bootanimation.zip placed in dropbox
*extracted to external sd card from dropbox app on phone
*moved to /system/media/ folder with ES file explorer (with mounted as writable, and all root options enabled)
*set permissions using Rom Toolbox's root browser
*rebooted phone and enjoyed animation
Mine does samsung logo samsung logo, android logo, then booted up.
Permissions set in ROM toolbox. Bootanimation.zip.
Must be my ROM's animation, (the android letters) needs removed?
Permisions is RW-R--R--
Code:
First of all, you like it or dont like it, feel free to ask for changes , but not for ETA.
Don´t post it elsewhere, without permission!
Code:
Your bootanimation is might be in /system/customize/resource
Download the bootanimation
Push it with ADB to /system/customize/resource or use file manager app to copy
# use filemanager for paste©
# set the right permissions (644 rw r r )
I am not responsible for anything, except my own phone
It is an edit of the stock animation, same framerate and resolution
Thanks for your effort!

You can set the permissions using a file manager, I´ve tested venom explorer a few seconds ago, but I cannot find the option .

On some ROMs (e.g. InsertCoin) you have to rename the two files to 'hTC_bootup_one.zip' and 'hTC_downanimation.zip'. These are the names of the animations in the stock ROM.
Correct
THX for the addition
Just for infos sake,,,,,,,,,
I had to rename mine to "ATT_bootanimation.zip" and "ATT_dow,,,,,,,,
That's what the originals were named.
Thanks for the hard work.
