So I recently flashed my att xperia from 16. to 2.1 and I've tried all the apn settings that you guys provided but none of them work. Still can't get on att 3g.
I did the automatic method and it comes up with 2 apn. The ones that my x10 pulled up from att are the following. One is MEdia Net and the other MEdia Net MMS that's it no more. My wife also has an x10 but is still on 1.6 and hasn't flashed hers to 2.1. When I go into her apn names her phone only displays one called ATT. I even copied her apn setting and deleted the other ones on my phone and I still can't get 3g not even an E or H like some people on the forum get post flashing to 2.1. Can anyone help. Please don't give me the common apn settings because they don't work. Someone who has fixed their 3g after the 2.1 flash help!

Was this the official update or the generic or world? did you do a battery pull? putting in the apn setting is all I needed to do, mind you I am on the nordic.. perhaps flashing it again will solve the problem.
Good luck!
download the firmware from this link and re-flash your phone. I am on AT&T and i used the same link to flash. everything works fine for me. In fact i am getting 'H' network on AT&T which is faster than 3G.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10738287&postcount=1
this is the same as mine
it should just be in the apn settings no. I don't want to reflash because everything works great except 3g. Here's the the firmware i used world.x10a_1.0_2_1_A_0_435.ftf.
Model number
x10a
Firmware version
2.1-update1
Baseband version
2.1.54
Kernel version
2.6.29
[email protected] #1
Build number
2.1.A.0.435
Everything sounds right. Try repair software on SEUS or PC Companion instead of flashing the same downloaded firmware. Don't worry, it won't put you back to 1.6, and it will give you a fresh install of official SE firmware. If that doesn't work it might be a hardware issue.
Also: on a side note. Did you use the flash tool and firmware from xda and unbrand, or did you get an official SE update from SEUS or PC Companion? I'm only asking because someone posted a comment somewhere else saying he thought AT&T was finally releasing the 2.1 multitouch update.

Y don't you call AT&T and ask them to resend the settings over the network?
You can just say that 3G stopped working for no reason.

I did use SEUS already and it did upgrade but still no 3g. I used the flash tool provided by Binary in the forums. Why would it be a hardware issue when it had 3g on it's original 1.6 att droid? It happened after downloading 2.1.
I have the x10a_1.0_2_1_A_0_435.ftf with mt already in it. What are your apn settings for att? Should i delete the MEdia Net and MEdia MMS and manually enter a new apn for ATT like on 1.6 att phone that i didn't fash yet? Heres what auto search put in.

You don't have the app APNroid running or some other data restriction running like a battery saving app or task killer, right? Even if you mess the apn up it will correct itself to media net and media net mms. Since it even downloaded the settings means something is working. Try settings / wireless & networks / mobile network / network operators / search mode / network search/ automatically search. It will search for a while, then it will give you 3G AT&T, 2G AT&T DR, and 2G AT&T to choose from. Select 3G and let it register. If auto doesn't work try manual network search. Also, try turning wifi off.

I think repair software will work. If not, then do what I said in my last post with register network operators. That isn't the same thing as apn settings. Those seem to be correct. Let me know how it goes.

still no H after repairing with pc companion.
it pulled up 3G AT&T, 2G AT&T DR, and 2G AT&T. I picked the 3G ATT and it registered but still no internet access on 3g. It has to be in the settings then. How do I check if APNdroid is running?

Settings: under mobile network "data traffic" should be checked and network mode should be set to "GSM/WCDMA preferred". Media Net should be selected in APN. Turn WIFI off. Register network with operator. Reboot.
Uninstall Apps: APNdroid is an app you would have downloaded yourself. If you have restored your market apps, uninstall any task killers, app managers, data, wifi, or battery apps. Make sure wifi remains off. Reboot.
If it does not connect after all that, it's probably AT&T not you. Especially if you can send/receive yourself a mms. Call them and tell them to test your data connection. Don't say anything about unbranding or updating. They don't need to know. Especially if under warranty. If they can't fix it, they won't be able to tell anyways. If they do fix it, don't give them time to notice.
I hope this works. I know how frustrating it can be. Last piece of advice, it is almost always something simple that you're missing. Let us know. Good luck.

The APN settings really don't matter as long as you have an APN wap.cingular.com. I've tried all different APN settings, including yours, and the phone always corrects itself to Media Net and Media Net MMS.
I really think it's AT&T that needs to re-establish network connection. It's not recognizing the SIM card or something like that. It happened to me before.
Edit: So what happened when you called AT&T? I'm guessing that was it by your absence.

What if the Rogers phone was baseband 14? Would you still use the baseband 20? Rogers hasn't released 20 yet.
yeh I used the second version
and it was fast and easy
also you'll be happy you rooted it cause the performance and battery life is waaayy better than the ****y stock firmware that Rogers gave us.

it's not going to say x10a anymore. I've done all root methods and my connection has never failed. just put in your apn settings internet.com user - wapuser1 -pass = wap
done. online and 3G works
roby can you download stuff with your 3g connection after root, I can browse internet but when I try to download it just hangs at downloading I set up the internet.com settings
The APN settings didn't seem to be correct on mine. It was that internet.com thing that everybody seems to use when I googled it, but that's not what came on my phone. It worked, but I was unable to access the android market, seesmic wouldn't load any new tweets, etc. The only thing that seemed to work was the browser.
I happened to have saved the APN settings before rooting, so I switched back to them. I had:
Name: Rogers Internet
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC:302
MNC: 720
Everything else: <Not Set>
That fixed me right up. I'm not sure if it's due to my region (south-western ontario, London specifically) or if it's something with my data plan, but the recommended APN settings (internet.com) only allowed access through my browser and seesmic, listen, gmail, etc all complained about not having network access. If you're having similar issues, try that. Also, make sure to test your network connection in something other than your browser to make sure it's really working correctly, because I was showing 3G with the internet.com APN.

How can we get the market to work properly?
I wanted that new TD bank app, but can't get it now because of UK firmware.

You are wrong.
The last method, last two steps are for X10a.
Proof:
I had 1.6 on my X10 which was ATT branded. Since I was new to android and xda, I just followed a random tutorial of unbranding (or something) to get my phone to 2.1, because it was before the official att 2.1. I updated before I ever tried texting even on 1.6, so that may be the case, but I can't text at all right now. I thought maybe it was from screwing up during the 2.1 update. I'm trying to install the official 2.1 right now to try, but if that doesn't work, does anyone know how to fix this problem? I NEED texting
what do you mean texting doesn't work?
can you not send messages? Have you received any messages?
Need more details...
Sent from my x10 Platinum
I'll say as much as I can, but I'm a noob when it comes to phone so just ask if you need any more.
My contract lets me text, but when I try, it says "could not send". But I can receive them fine.
I have x10 2.1 unbranded right now, since maybe a year ago, used to have 1.6 att.
I think I rooted my phone... I should have, but not sure (lol)
I've never come across this problem before. But you might want to use flashtool to flash one of the custom roms skiing with the correct baseband. If you need help with this, send me a pm.

You need to set up your wireless apn go to menu/settings/sony ericsson/settings download then wait a few you will see it flash on then go to back button/wireless & networks/mobile networks/network mode/gsm/wcdma preferred (click it)/access point name there shoud be two, one wireless/one mmsc. if for some reason you have three make sure that the top one (the house icon) is checked or you will be roaming.

Okay well after clicking settings download, my only service provider is ATT. When I click that nothing happens for a while but then it ends up saying "Could not download settings. Retry?"
But while it's searching, I have 3 APNS, AT&T, ATT, and SEMC GPRS, which gets selected by default. After it says "Could not download settings. Retry?", all I'm left with is 2 APNs, ATT and AT&T. Both of which I put in manually.
I might just not know what you're saying, but i can't seem to make it work
Well try this these are my APNs in USA Calif. and ONLY change the settings i give you and the way they are (case sensitive) if your in this area if not find a friend an look at theirs.
Also you have to wait to see the 3G/H/or E. And maybe set the GSM/WCDMA Preferred first then download settings. You do not have to click it after it downloads it's just telling you that is your connection name. Then go to settings.

Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong, but it didn't seem to work. What I did was delete my APNs, input yours exactly like that (and left everything else blank), and then settings download. Still didn't work I have H connection, and it does "connect", but even when I go on my browser, it says the url is blocked or something. I don't know what I did different but before this the browser worked fine, just texting wouldn't work. What about that [email protected] thing? I remember something about that. When I put those in, my browser worked fine.
Also one more thing. While trying to fix it, I thought I might as well update to 2.3 if I unbranded it already. But before that, when I was in 2.1, the text would instantly return with "could not send". Now, when I try to text, it says "sending" for a couple minutes and then after that says "could not send" again.
No do not Download settings again, you just put them in then Menu/save.
By downloading settings after you ether wiped the settings you just put in Or you have like to-many apns an your phone is freaking out trying too find the right ones.
But ya I would update the rom. An "I" would use Wolfs rom mo better faster.
Just watch the video can you can't go wrong then try the steps to setup your Apns
Also if you have a friend on the same network just look at his settings.

It seems I have searched every forum.. on every android site imaginable. I have posted this question and tried everything recomended to me. Here is my problem and I hope someone can help.. I purchased an unlocked T Mobile G2. I am using it on AT&T. I have unlimited talk, text and data plan. My internet works fine. BUT.... When I send/receive MMS messages they are in video format. My wife and I like to take pictures of our kids and send them to each other. I have tried several APN settings that were supposed to work and none of them fixed the problem.. I had a G1 for 2 years and the same settings worked in that phone. Can someone PLEASE send me the correct APN settings to use this phone on AT&T? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated..
try this, it has always worked for me for both way picture messages and i received 1 video message before as well (but never tried sending)

I dont have a place for MMS Protocol, have APN Protocol as the last entry at the bottom. My APN Protocol is set as IPv4, Im not sure if this is right.. As I stated I went back into my G1 and copied exactly the APN settings from that phone to my new G2 and it still sent all my pictures as videos,, kinda aggravating... I do appreciate your help.. I will let you know if this fixes my problem i have input your info into my phone already.. I just tried to send a normal picture to my wifes phone and it came up in video format just like it did before... If you can think of anything else Im sure open to opinions.. I lost my 3G with this phone and now i cant send pictures.. Kinda thinkin about selling the phone as much as i like it.. If i cannot get it to function anywhere near right it seems kinda like a paperweight.. Thank you for your help

Here is an interesting development... I flashed CyanogenMod 10 on my Sony Xperia arc S phone and the ROM downloaded some settings by itself. There are 3 APNs that comes with this ROM.
1. ATT
2. ATT LTE
3. StraightTalk ATT
StraightTalk was picked by default. I was about to delete them all and enter the settings from here but then I received a text message from a friend... Lo and behold, it was a MMS message with a pic attached and already downloaded. I saw that my WiFi was on, so I turned off the WiFi and asked my friend to send me more pics... They all arrived including a video snippet.... Then I sent one, a larger pic, and he received it. All amazed I fired up the CM10's browser and went to www.testmy.net Did a smarttest and my download was 3.4 Mbps and upload was 577 Kbps... In Phoenix, AZ...
Here are the settings that came with CM10 ...
Name: StraightTalk ATT
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMSC proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: Not set
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled (tick mark checked but grayed out anyways)
Bearer: Unspecified
Does this make any sense now?
That's the settings I use for straight talk, works great. I get 4g just about everywhere here in pa. Mms works great too. I've had straight talk for a year and a half on at&t. Can't complain. If you use alot of cell data they will throttle you slow, but I'm usually close to wifi. I've heard 2GB then they slow you down.

I'm getting 1.3Mbps down and 657 Kbps up. Pretty happy with it.
To the last poster, I thought Straight Talk didn't offer LTE coverage?! If it did, it'd be an even more amazing deal than I had thought it was!
My data works fine. Got like 6mbps this morn but my MMS wont send for ****. Using an Xperia Ion
Pantech Pocket ATT - Straight Talk MMS Settings
The Pantech Pocket needs to have the Straight Talk APN data loaded to TWO locations.
Both Phone APN and Wap APN need to be setup with the Straight Talk APN settings.
Straight Talk makes it sound like you only need to enter the information in one location.
You need to enter the information in Phone APN and Wap APN, if you want MMS to work!
APN name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Straight Talk value
Port: 80
MMSC: Straight Talk value
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
My Pantech Pocket is running flawlessly on Straight Talk now. MMS is 100% functional. The pictures are getting through. I'm getting 5Mbps download speed and 1Mbps upload speed.
My Pantech burst uses only one apn. On gingerbread and ice cream sandwich. I don't run proxy but the rest of the settings I put in and works good. Seems faster tried it. 40kbps proxy vs 4000kbps no proxy. Not sure why. Any ideas?

HOLY SH!T!!!
I just put in the settings Bushmaster78FS posted and I am now on TRUE 4G with ST. 6Mbps!!! ITS FASTER THAN MY WORKS WIFI BY 3X!!!
AMAZING!!! THANKS BUSHMASTER!
Nice
Thanks for the settings you posted Bushmaster.
The settings provided are the first ones I have used and successfully got both data and mms working with only one APN.
Using Samsung Galaxy S III.
1. My phone is unocked and compatible on both AT&T networks and T-Mobile right now i am using an blue AT&T sim and i am thinking to make the move to T-Mobile network. Do you think i can use the same AT&T compatible sim and just change the APN setting to T-Mobile and have it work on the T-Mobile network or so i have to buy a sim?
2. I heard that you can get a free sim by buying a free phone and just using it on your phone but other people say that those sims are lock to those phones. Which is true?
3. I see that Straight talk sells cheap GSM phones and my GF has her phone on T-Mobile so can i buy one of the ST phones and swap it to use on T-Mobile or are the locked and can they be unlocked?
I just switched from the default straight talk apn to the ones bushmaster posted. I went from 1 mbps to 4.8 on a Nexus 4.

I have a unlocked AT&T Pantech Breeze 3 with a Straight Talk sim in it. Am unable to access the web. All my settings still go to AT&T.
Does anyone know the correct APN settings?
I have to go 3 places to do the setups.
# 1 Messaging > Settings > Multimedia > MMS Settings
There I can enter Profile Name: MMSC: Connection Type: Proxy Address:& Proxy Port.
Does anyone know the correct values to put in here?
# 2 My Stuff > Applications > Browser > Manage > Profiles
Profile Name : Home URL: Connection Type : Proxy Address: Proxy Port
# 3 Settings > Network Connectivity > Connection Name > APN : Primary & secondary DNS : Linger Time : Authentication: Username :
Password
Does anyone know the correct values that I need to put in here in order to get my phone to go to the web.
I ha ve voice mail, can call and text. Just not access the web. Can anyone help me here?:

anyone try these settings on S2 i9100 and see speed gains?
APN set, no data.
Hey gang, I've looked far-and-wide and haven't been able to locate a solution so, I throw myself on y'all's mercy and ask if anyone has a clue why I can't receive wireless data on my SGT AT&T GT-P1000.
I received my AT&T Straight Talk SIM the other day and porting the phone over was no issue. However, when I set up the APN I did not immediately reboot the phone due to some confusion about when the service actually transferred. Could this have affected my registration on the ST wireless network?
I've entered the APN settings precisely but, alas, still cannot connect to the wireless data. I really want to move over to ST, not only will it save me $30 a month whilst adding an "unlimited" data plan but, best of all, I'll get to tell AT&T to go pound sand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
did you add in the " http://"?
Does anybody now any way to unthrotte. Since we all now that ST throttle after 5gb. I called to ST customers service, they told me that unlimited data is only for navigation.

So I got my XZU on Friday. Bought a Petro Canada Mobility sim, cut and inserted it, and I am able to call and text without problems. Issues arise when I want to use mobile data. I filled out the APN info as the Petro Canada site said (located here at 5.f) and that didn't work. I googled around and tried various other ones, which also didn't work.
I called Petro Canada, I called Sony, and they each say to call the other and that everything is working with their respective equipment.
I don't know what else to do, I don't know if I'm missing something in my settings, and I hope you guys can help.
The 2 settings configurations I tried/keep trying are:
(1)
APN: goam.com
Proxy: 10.128.1.69
Port: 80
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
(everything else not set/default)
(2)
APN: goam.com
Proxy: 10.128.1.69
Port: 80
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS port: 80(everything else not set/default)
I should also note that I have tried the option to "Download settings for Internet and MMS" (it prompts me to select Fido or Rogers, and I choose Rogers because Petro Canada uses their network), and if while it's downloading, I go to the APN page, I see the APN it is attempting to download, and it matched settings (1) I listed above, only named SONY GPRS. It then fails to download and leaves me with nothing.
Thanks for the help.

Well, the settings look OK from what I can see... Stupid question, but you have data enabled in the settings?

Just to be sure, since Petro Canada is using another network: you have got Data Roaming enabled in the settings?
I'm using a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) myself, and when I disable Data Roaming, I can't get a mobile internet connection either. But then again, if that were the issue, the phone should give you a notification.
I remember having internet connection problems with my previous phone, and I solved them by simply leaving the proxy settings blank (server address and port number). Maybe you could give that a try?

I was gonna mention that about proxies also, it's unusual for an operator to use a proxy locally isn't it? Definitely worth a go to leave it out.

I had data roaming disabled. Changed it to National roaming. Doesn't work, removed proxy and port, still no luck.
