Hi guys.
I have a SE X10 Mini Pro (u20i I believe)
I already rooted it with SuperUser.
Now I would like to change the theme and basically just fiddle around, without breaking it!
What would you suggest is the best route to go next? (any simple tutorials would help)
And also I did some research on JIT. From what I gather it makes your phone faster?
How would I go to to that?
Thanks

here you go! here you have both, them and tutorial.

Thanks. How about the JIT thing? How can I do that?
Ok so basically what I need help with is this:
1. I tried to follow the xRecovery tutorial (I dont know which 3 files I need to copy to system/bin)
I copied
* xrecovery.tar
* busybox (can someone explain to me what this is? - I installed an apk of this as well, couldnt find it on the market)
* chargemon
I restarted my phone, pressed ''back' a few times, nothing happens.
You have probably used an xRecovery files for x10 mini. You can make the files work to your x10 mini pro by opening the chargemon file then find and edit event1 and change it to event0. Save the file and replace the chargemon file already on your /system/bin/. Set the permissions accordingly and restart the phone.
After you have successfully installed xRecovery, you can install JIT using this method: LINK HERE

Ahhh damn!
Look, so I installed JIT now (before I saw this), without xRecovery. It took a few minutes to boot up after the restart. But the phone is working, Im up from 3.8MFLOPS to 6MFLOPS.
So everything should still be fine though?
Yes, it should be fine. You don't actually need xRecovery to install JIT. It's just easier if you already have xRecovery

REQUIRES ROOT ACCESS
If you want to change your boot animation, its easy.
1. Download Root Explorer off the market (which costs like 3 BUCKS)
2. Inside root explorer, press button up top "MOUNT R/W"
3. Download your bootanimation.zip
4. Extract the bootanimation.zip.
5. After you extracted, you will find another bootanimation.zip inside the one you just extracted.
6. Move the .zip into system/media. (Delete or Backup the original inside)
7. Long click the zip once you moved.
8. Go to permissions.
9. Tick all boxes.
10.Reboot and Enjoy!
Any Problems PM me and i will edit this thread. Thanks all
The same occurs when you do it with a computer program such as Droid Explorer.

Yes, it works..
With instruction #6 I recommend: copy the original first to a secure folder on your SD-card, so as to be sure that, when something goes wrong, you can get it back...
Greetz,

EDIT: Question: do the bootanimations for 2.1 work on 2.3.3? Anybody knows that?
#9 found that the original one ticked R&W of the Owner line and Read of the other lines.
is it OK to tick all boxes?

I think it's ok.
made an bootanimation by myself.
the script of bootanimation is generic.

It's just a boot animation- nothing harmful so I doubt it wil effect your system.
The worst would be a very pixelated and slow boot animation if your desired boot animation is for LDPI (Lower Def) Devices.
do you know how to change the zdzihu's boot logo?
I'm quite sick with that ugly face(sorry for this, but I still respect zdzihu)
does that mean have to edit the RAMDISK?

I think i answered you're question already on private messages, but for other people with this question, just switch to an alternative like doomkernel, ThKernel etc.
You can always use this tool to change the bootanimation
quick question.
my bootanimation is the bios one i founf on this forum
did all i had to do and it works on my X10
BUT,
it doesnt load completely i get the (enter pin code) frame before its finished.
what i did was delete some pictures in the zip (the double frames (pics that look the same))
and renamed em all to follow in sequence seeing im pretty new to all this and wasnt sure if it was needed.
now its loading a bit further in the pictures cause i see more changes in the X time its loading.
now my point is can i edit/do something to make it finish and THEN enter the pin code or ? did i do something wrong.
uploaded it with total commander .. the permissions you talked about i didnt do that is that root explorer only or ?
thnx in advance

Sorry I'm not an expert in that field, sorry I don't know how to deal with that. Yeah the permissions are for root explorer but if another program supports permissions in that form, them it's for that other program as well.
Cheers
Please sorry for my English. Help ... I want to install but copy phone.apk system / app says that the application was installed and is not exiting the application factory.
I can do ... I also want to change the original lock screen, but I do not know which file I should change ...
I have original 2.1 eclair
thanks.
try this:
Install root explorer (I´m sure, you can find it here by using the search-button), then go to the folderwhere your new phone.apk is, and copy it. then go to system/app, mount it as "rw" and paste it, and then I recommend you to reboot.

Had already tried, but still keeps showing the original application, and when trying to install from system / app says "the application was not installed"...
Any ideas? with respect to lockscreen, what is the application that performs this function?
phone.apk cannot be "installed". it needs to be "pushed" into /system/app
as for lockscreen, u can either change theme or find lockscreen programs... there are a few in the market.
if u do not know how, i suggest u do a little more finding all the answers are somewhere
After moving an app to system/app, set the permission of the app to rw-r--r-- (Root Explorer)

There is already an installed application (system)
Phone.apk application is not installed because there is an application system that must be replaced, but look for it in system / app and I not find that application, if you know the name (I have the stock rom) to tell me to remove it and install the new application (I think it might not be in system / app, but I do not know where else might be).
Thank you.
In the stock rom the phone application is called SemcPhone.apk

Indeed, that is. But it does not let me install the application. says "The application has not been installed", even replacing the message application to install.
And when I call, show an error in the process android.process.acore.
If someone has done this before, please guide me.
R u crazy? Phone.apk cannot be installed/replaced under Android is running! Deleting phone.apk causes force-closes and boot-loop. Only way to change phone.apk is ADB under xrecovery.

funny~ i ALWAYS change phone.apk when android is running works fine so far. hehe. of course i use ADB tho
I´ve modified the reframe.sh by propc for semcphone.apk....just download it and extract it to the root of your sdcard (with your computer or your X8 by using a file manager)
Then install terminal Emulator (if you don´t have it already) and type
Code:
sh mnt/sdcard/SEMCphone.sh
and it should react and show you some text like "replace SEMCphone by propc (modified by codfreak).
This should also work with ADB, but I think Terminal E. is easier
You can also use it for replacing ANYTHING, just open the file on your computer with notepad and rewrite the filenames and directorys.
D' oh

Yes, I'm crazy ... But thanks to you I remembered that I could change the framework with a script, modify it and it worked SemcPhone.apk to change (replace) the phone restarts, but then as if it had apacerece signal and not making calls.
Please, if someone has changed some StockRom SemcPhone.apk 2.1 per phone.apk tell me how.
Thank you.

think the same idea (I modified de script with office suite in the phone ), but does not work the apk ... I do not know what to do, I have the phone.apk for eclair. and does not work.
Hello, I discovered that the recovery is easier to install, I used a zip signed which contained a framework and add the phone.apk renamed SemcPhone.apk. But the different versions of phone.apk I tried did not work on my stock rom. If you know of any version can be installed, if they have already done so, please comment.
deleted android dialer (oops)
hello, I have a samsung galaxy tab 7 running froyo2.2:" did something stupid, I unistalled the wrong dialer using Ti backup. Its called android dialer. and of course i am experience a hic-cup. (hope it not a cold and its curable-lol) I was searching the threads and came across "pushing" the phone.apk using root explorer however I oops again and think i mounted it read only. Now I am stuck in the water.
Assistance/guidance is appreciated!!
Hi all, i tried really hard to run link2sd on a stock firmware (no custom roms, kernels, etc)
and i found a "solution" for it...
Thanks to: neo1234matrix
If you already got link2sd working in froyo, then you need to do this "one time only":
1. Install script manager from market
2. run the script manager...
3. go to: menu>more>advance options> config > select browse as root
4. give the root permission to it...
5. now click the file /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
6. select "run as root" and "run at boot"
7. save it and reboot your phone
8. after reboot, start Link2sd... you are done....
After all of this, you can use link2sd without doing anything else
Important! :
Every time you reboot your phone (turn off and turn on) you will notice that all the linked apps disappear from your home screens, app drawer, installed apps lists, etc as if they weren't installed, but dont worry.
Start link2sd and click menu button>more>quickreboot and all the "missing apps" are going to be available again for all your needs!
Maybe someone can figure out an easier way, real solution or something?

Yeap, TB actually processed them too fast. What I did was restoring again until it processed properly. I don't know why, honestly, but so it worked

Tested on S5830LUBKP8 and works.. but... the quick reboot its a bad thing..
maybe someone can do a better thing. =D
well.. THANK YOU!..
i know whats the problem... this new firmware includes # (deactivates the mounting script at boot)
in the new firmwares (at least the one i have, but i believe its on all the official firmwares):
in the init.rc file there is this line:
#service flash_recovery /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
#oneshot
in froyo that line was:
service flash_recovery /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
oneshot
i already editing init.rc with root explorer (text editor) to delete the #, but when i restart (normal) the phone, it rewrites the old init.rc with the # included
if we could edit and keep the init.rc file without the # in those lines, link2sd will work as good as froyo without scriptmanagers or quickrebots
maybe someone can help me out?
just some (useless?) info.
In my phone its says in init.rc file:
#service flash_recovery /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
#oneshot
Dont know why it not say autoshot
ups, my bad, it is oneshot, i wasn't viewing the phone screen while typing this on the pc
i like link2sd.. would be cool of theres some permanent solution for this..
anyways thanx for the temp solution.. atleast now we know link2sd works on gingerbread..
Did not work for s5660 Samsung Galaxy gio with 2.3.3 stock rom
any other solution?

you can modify the file, but when the phone turns off- turn on, it will generate a new file (from boot.img)... the only way to get it right should be decompiling boot.img and editing that file and compile boot.img
but thats risky
Thank you! Not a bad solution! Works perfectly!

Hey guys. I recently rooted my x10 running stock 2.3.3 . I hav since installed xrecovery also.
I tried to fix audio stutter problem by copying the audio fix zip file to the root folder. However it said that I cannot copy it. What to do.
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
in case you missed these.
in most explorer settings theres a root selection (asking root permissions)
in case you cant find it dowload root explorer and remember to change the ''mount'' to r/w
and im pretty new to all this so this is not something you should use until confirmation is given but can't you usually install these zips trough recovery ?
hope it helped.
Yeah dude frm xrecovey only we hav to do it. However it says to place the audio fix zip folder inside the root folder in system and then flash via xrecovery. I cannot place it inside the root folder. I copying frm.root explorer and doing it also. Still it says I don't hav permission.
The only thing I actually flashed via xrecovery was the frames per sec zip. In that case I could place the file anywhere on the SD card and do it.
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
could be wrong but i remember reading a line like that to 'placing it on your root folder'
basicly it ment putting it on the SD card
i believe you'll be able to install it by
*putting it on sd card
*go in to xrecovery
*install custom zip
*selecting the file and voila
im looking for otherf answers/problems and ill see if i find anything brb
---------- Post added at 04:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:50 PM ----------
pretty much all say flash like a rom incase it aint working then there might be a permission problem ? i think thats in advanced options in xrecovery (the permissons)
I fixed permissions in xrecovery. .still if u find out something abt it lemme know.

this is what i found looking for a tutorial on the audio fix
1.The first step is to make sure that you have upgraded your device to official Gingerbread and have root privileges with xRecovery installed. You can follow the video guides here to get root and xRecovery on your device after upgrading to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
2.Now download the Xperia X10 Audio Stutter Fix zip package from here and save the archive on your desktop.
3.Now connect your phone to the computer, mount SD Card and copy the downloaded file to SD Card root.
4.Once done, reboot your device in xRecovery.
5.After you are in xRecovery, go to Install Custom Zip Package and in the resulting menu, select the zip file you earlier copied to SD Card root.
6.Now press OK to install the fix.
7.After the fix is flashed, reboot your device normally using Reboot in System option in recovery.
8.Now once your phone boots, play any song to check if stuttering has ceased.
so i dont know if you tried putting it on sd card or not if you did could you give me some info on what error your getting ?
Lol no error. I hav seen this very same.document. it says " mount SD card and copy to root folder "..... where is the root folder so that I can copy to that? ! Cuz when I mount it shows all the files on.SD card. It should show one directory above it.

Hi,
Have you checked your phone installed with SuperUser too? It also involved for ''asking root permission'' for apps which need root access. Another thing, you can give ROM ToolBox a try? Many features provided along the apps including copy/explore/extract zipped files, RootBrowser, CPU kernel tweaks, editing Build.prop and many more
''Google is always your friend'' if you want to find its APK file
Extra: Copy ur files into SD card will be best way to be flashed via xrecovery

Unfortunately, due to X10's hardware limited support, 4points touch is not possible. In official 2.3.3, Dualtouch is supported along with updates. You check your Build.prop text like this below:
ro.product.multi_touch_enabled=true
ro.product.max_num_touch=4 But ''4'' seem don't works, you might see effect of ''2''
Gamepadding in emulator will not be problem, allowing two points touch
For Touching sentivity like increasing scrolling speed, you may need find Custom Launchers. Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
whitefang

Yeap. Backup can be many meanings like ur ROMS, Buildprop, Apps, Datas and etc. Most Probably will backup into your SD card. In specific folder for their backup. Only the app which started the backup can only view its backup content/format.
About the tweaks, i don't think it's necessary to post here But NO WORRY!!! You can find whole bunch list here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227269
