Archos 70 is slow with Live Wallpaper - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I love Live Wallpapers (espacially Beautiful Live Weather). But always when I'm using a live wallpaper, my Archos 70 8GB (2.1.4 firmware, LauncherPro and scaled on 1GHz using SetCPU) is very slow on the homescreens and in the app drawer. All the apps are as fast as with a "normal" wallpaper. But scrolling in the app drawer is very bad.
It's the same with all launchers.
Do you have the same problems or not?

Every Android device i know gets slow when these are on.

Ok, but I don't think that it's normal if the scrolling in the app drawer is so bad?
Do you own an Archos? Could you test that?

I noticed Live Wallpaper degrade its performance and battery since the stock launcher. Since then, I've never used Live wallpaper again. Without live wall paper + LauncherPro+, the home screen and app drawer are as smooth as my iPad springboard.

I've noticed the same, but I use Multipicture Live Wallpaper and it works great for me. But no animation.

use launcherPro..smoother than stock launcher..
maybe because of ram..live wallpaper cause lag to the device..

I'm already using LauncherPro+, but using Live wallpaper, the Archos is slow, too.
I tried MultiPicture Live Wallpaper, and using this, the Archos is faster (nearly as fast as without Live wallpapers), but scrolling between the homescreens isn't very smooth...
Now I use normal wallpaper, but thank you fou your help!

use ADW launcher and I assure your screen will run as smooth as ipad

[Q] Live Wallpaper Lag

Is there a way to stop the wallpaper from moving when switching between home screens? That way it would be a lot smoother while a live wallpaper is running. I know Evil Eris does this by default but I'm using CELB Froyo.
Launcher Pro home launcher replacement offers this option - to disable wallpaper scrolling. I just tried it on a LWP and it works for that as well. Hope this helps.

I never thought of that! I use LauncherPro so ill give it a shot. Thanks!
You're always going to have lag on LWP's.
Actually that fix worked! The only thing that lags now is the app drawer so i guess your right lol
Surprisingly, I have almost no lag with LWPs. Not all of the market ones work, but the ones that do work fine. When I first starting using them in some 2.1 roms they lagged a little. I found that if the LWP has settings, tweaking them to use less CPU or effects greatly improved lag.

[Q] LauncherPro wallpaper resizing issue

I wanted to give LauncherPro a try again which worked really well on my Evo 4g. My problem is that pictures that I've taken with my front camera wont display fullscreen and require me to crop them directly in the middle in order to use them which makes the image much bigger. When using Sense it does not do this and allows me to use the image fullscreen. I really do not like my background being stretched through tabs . Any solutions?? Any info would be great!
I've been googling for a good hour or so and have come up with absolutely nothing.
Just realized that it has nothing to do with LP in general, but any other launcher. They try to force me to crop the image and while cropping I can't select the whole image, but the image is already in proportion to the fullscreen.
Go Launcher does this for me too. I don't know how to correct it either.
I believe you are talking about wallpaper scrolling. In go launcher it's under screen settings-disable wallpaper scrolling. Launcher pro its appearance settings-disable wallpaper scrolling. I'm trying to decide between the two right now

Unfortunately, while you can disable wallpaper scrolling in the various launcher apps, you cannot disable the way in which it wants to crop the image. Even if you go from Launcher Pro back to Sense it will still try to crop images for the wider, scrolling format. A hot restart after switching back to Sense was the only way to solve this for me. I didn't try that after switching off the wallpaper scrolling option in Launcher Pro so it's worth a shot.
Ultimately, I just gave in and found or made a bunch of wallpapers of a 1080x960 dimension that look great scrolling in Launcher Pro.
I found a solution. Wallpaper Wizardrii allows you to set the wallpaper correctly! It's free on the android market and worked flawlessly.

[Q] Disabling Panoramic wallpaper

I have tweaked my TBolt for maximum performance, but i love love live wallpapers, but I have noticed when my live wallpapers stall, my homescreen response is extremely accurate, like IPHONE accurate, so Im trying to is possible to stop the panaramic wallpaper as a default ?
Switch launchers. Adw or go-launcher has the option for disabling wallpaper scroll.

Laggy Homescreen

Has anyone noticed their homescreen has gone laggy when moving from screen to screen?
I like the default launcher, so I'm in no position to change it, but it's developed alot of lag since I first bought it exactly a week ago today.
Only plays up on the default launcher.
had mine over a month, and I find it to be the fastest android tablet in terms of switching screens...very smooth experience over here so far.
Thanks for the response - I wonder if a data reset would do the trick.
agreed that it is one of smoothest tablets on the market. I sometimes experience lag if I have a live wallpaper active. perhaps getting a task killer with a widget on the home screen could help quickly kill anything running in the background that could be the culprit of the lag.
Everything is running smoothly except the home screen and I don't really want to have to do a reset.... hmm
Have you loaded up your screens with tons of shortcuts? If I remember correctly it made my homescreen animations jerky but I then switched to Launcher Ex.

theres nothing on my homescreens lol
I agree with the OP, the launcher's performance is sub-par. I don't have any live wallpapers, or hardly any icons, no widgets, and I can see it's not perfectly smooth. I installed ADW Launcher which is clearly significantly faster and what I would consider perfectly smooth and fluid. Anyone that thinks their launcher isn't choppy probably just needs to compare against a trial install of ADW.
I like the look of the default launcher though lol
I find this very strange that people are experiencing this lag. I am using the default launcher, a few incons on main screen, and at least one widget on every other screen, some 2 or 3 widgets, and still super smooth... way better than samsung tablets, asus, motorola, etc....
Should I do a reset in the short term?

Scrolling wallpaers on the S3??

This is really starting to bug me now. I have 392 wallpapers. But geuss what. as Samsung have now changed the s3 we now cant have scrolling wallpapers. Thus now when i want to have a full size picture on my Sgs3 i cant.
Anyone else not happy with this?
Is there anyway around this thus allowing us to have full size scrolling pics??
PS Even if you use a launcher you still have to crop the image before useing it.
same here.....seems that samsung have disabled this feature
Yep Samsung removed it (According to a few things i have seen was due to lawsuits). But you can get scrolling wallpapers back through a few different methods. Using a different app to set a wallpaper (Such as QuickPic, wallpaper wizardrii etc) Or use a different launcher. I have scrolling wallpapers via Go Launcher. However i don't think scrolling live wallpapers are supported yet.
