[Q] Backup apps and data? - Nook Color Themes and Apps

Can anyone suggest a good backup that saves the apk and all the data?
I've tried titanium but it did restore some of the data, ie the dates on my calendar. I also tried mybackup root but it didn't restore some apps and others that it did restore had force closure issues.
I like the backup from cwr, is there way to only save apps?

Usually, I just use nandroid. If you want to backup your apps, though, I am pretty sure that titanium backup does that.

I should have edit my original post, i meant to say that it didn't fully restore my data, like the dates on my touch calendar.
I do usually just make a nandroid but im planning to flash froyo so need just my apps and data.

Ti usually does a pretty good job, that being said I use Astro to backup apps and associated data. Astro will backup Ti also so you can avoid having to go to market for Ti after flash ...also Ti will not backup itself, Astro will.

Thanks i'll try that out.

I have had great success using Titanium backup. Apps and data restore flawlessly. An occasional nandroid backup (from within ClockworkRecovery) is also great to do.

Android Backup/imaging Apps

Does anyone know of a backup or imaging program that will restore apps and screens without user input. I understand the donate version Titanium Backup will do this but it doesn't backup sms call logs etc.
Any assistace is appreciated.
You've probably heard of nandroid, which is a function of Clockwordmod. So Clockwork mod has a full imaging backup tool, nandroid. It makes a bit per bit copy of it. That's what I would suggest. You need root (but you have titanium backup, so I imagine you already have it).

+1 for nandroid, it does require you to manually back up. You can't set a schedule, but I like to think most people who have it are smart enough to backup before modding or changing roms. On a side note, I would copy said backup to a computer if you are going to mess with the file system like voodoo does.

mybackup pro will do this, it is a paid app, but it backs up mms and phone call log, will do apps, but not the data with them like titanium.

[Q] About Google Backup

Hi, I used to use (lol) Titanium backup for backing up
my applications with their data (for example, asphalt 6 with all
of my progress). But a friend told me that when i backup with DATA,
it causes bugs of Force close when you restore, and it asks for your permission to install, and its annoying with 200 apps...
So I searched on Google a bit, and saw that Google has application
data backup, automatically! But im still not sure, will it backup all of my data?
All of the games data (progress), launchers and so on? will it restore
the data right after reinstall?
If not, I'll be glad if someone can advice me about any other good backup program..
Thanks, and sorry for my bad English...
As far as I know google app backup just redownloads your apps (no data).
And why did you "lol" at Titanium backup, it is still by far the best way to back stuff up. If you get the payed pro version then you don't have to click install for all 200 apps. And as long as you don't restore conflicting system data you should be fine.
I lol cause I said used to use (Idk why, it makes my laugh xD)
and about the Google Backup, the automatic restore says:
When re installing an application, backed up settings and data will be restored.
And what restore should I use with titanium backup?
Any help? I just wanna switch roms!
Everything Smasher said. TB has only caused force closes on about 2 of my 183 apps, but I fixed those issues with ease. I don't know too much about Google backing up data because I thought they only restored the app only.
EDIT: Maybe you should Nandroid backup your current rom then try the Google way and let us all know how it works out. If it doesn't restore app data then go back tou your current rom and take the Titanium way.

Which Backup Utility is Best?

Which backup utility is the easiest to use? I have titanium backup on my phone and it appears to be working but not really sure how it works.

It copies the data files to Your sdcard.
I use it also.
But the best backup utility is xRecovery (for Xperia) or CWM

Titanium Backup IMO. Google it, play around. Freeze apps, backup...it's pretty straight forward.
Titanium Backup is my preferred one.
Not much can beat tibu

I use TITANIUM BACKUP PRO as well. It's very simple and also very efficient
clockworkmod is the best
I use a combination of MyBackup and Titanium Backup; MB for restoring apps in bulk and TB for restoring the data.
I recommended Titanium backup pro.
It's very simple and useful.

Titanium Backup is best for my taste.
Titanium+Google for apps level, and clockwork mod nandroid images for whole system backups/checkpoints.
Titanium Backup Pro
TEAM MiK
MikROMs Since 3/13/11
titanium works good for backing up apps, but for system related stuff you need something like cwm
Titanium Backup for sure !
Titanium Backup Pro all the way!

I also echo the Titanium Backup, works real nice. I don't think it backs up SMS or Call Logs though (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!!). For that I use SMS Backup & Restore along with Call Log Back Up & Restore.
CWM
I think... and my qout goes to CWM.. everybody have it...
we need it for dev... and soo i think it`s the best... no installtion like titanium.. and soo think CWM iss the best

[Q] titanium backup restore

What's the best way to restore in titanium backup after flashing to a new ROM?
From an apps perspective, have the phone setup the way I want, apps frozen, etc I thought after flashing, I would be able to restore to that setup, but clearly doing something wrong. I do a batch restore and wind up will old apps, unfrozen apps and basically have to do the whole setup over.
Assuming this is user error, and hoping someone can provide insight. Do you create an update.zip and flash to that?
Thanks.
I don't believe you can save frozen app setups and such. All the update.zip does is allow you to flash titanium backup in recovery so you don't have to download it from market again and is just installed as a system app

You can choose what to restore when you you do that batch restore.
Maybe you are not setting it up right?
Every other night i have TB set to backup new data for selected apps,
New versions of selected apps
System data like messages, call logs, etc...
I can then restore them almost perfectly. Opera bookmarks give me fits, but that's about it.

[Q] Restoring apps and data

Hi
I'm new to rooting and custom roms, so far I've rooted my s3 (i9305) and added a custom recovery. I'm currently looking for a custom rom to update the stock version I'm currently running (4.1.2). I have titanium backup installed and everything is backed up, however many of the posts I've read suggest not to restore apps + data from titanium backup. Can anyone explain why, is it just titanium backup that causes problems? What about using other backup apps like helium? Can I restore just the apps using titanium backup, or should I download from the play store instead?
For me the most important stuff is contacts and calendars (which are in my google account), so that's easy as I just re-add my account. My call logs and SMS are backup to my google account using SMS backup, so I assume it's ok to restore this data as well, I'd also like to be able to restore my firefox data.
Any advice would be appreciated to a noob, I know how to do it, just want to know what the potential risks are of restoring apps and data.
Thanks
Dave
Try app backup and restore if you have a lot of apps it could potentially take up quite a bit of space but you could always backup to cloud ,or external hard drive, or flash drive

It is normally okay for u to restore apps. But not recommended if u are coming from touchwiz to aosp roms. The frameworks are different and u may experience force closes. U can try to see if u have force closes.
