Hi guys,
I would like to install the Beta 4, but the installed Keyboard s*cks! Is it possible to import the old Keyboard from Android 2.1 to 2.2? It would be very nice ! I now there are some alternatives, but they're not so good as the one from SE!

I would also be interested in this. Samsung dropped the stock Froyo keyboard completely so I had to find the Gingerbread keyboard. It's nice, but the keys are smaller. I'd like to have the Eclair keyboard around as an option too.
Have you tried Swype? I use it and it rocks. It's a beta, but I have loved it so far.

No. I've tried it. I just can't get used to Swype and typing on the Swype keyboard produces a lot of errors.
But the main thing is my wife. It's her phone and she's the one that can't seem to use anything other than the Android keyboard. I actually type quite well on the Samsung one but she hates it and Swype is even worse for her.
There are settings on Swype that let you adjust for accuracy and speed. It's something that you have to get used to. It's not for everyone. I am using it to type this message.

Greetings,
I am suing Swiftkey and i am very happy.
Thanks
Vatis
I use Swiftkey
Still have Swype installed but it's annoying for me cause it keeps splitting words in the middle. Think this is a problem caused by the lack of MT which makes it think your finger is jumping when you slide too fast or if your thumb is too fat
I use the Default Japanese IME keyboard. I can type incredibly fast on it, few mistakes. I prefer it to the iPhone keyboard as well.
I like swype best, but to be honest it all boils down to speed. Any of the keypads are ok, just swype is very fast and accurate for me.

I like HTC_IME keypad as I like using phone keypad over QWERTY keyboard.
HTC_IME v27 from jonasl, by far the best keyboard, not as accurate as iPhones but looks way better.

this! even if u dont want to slide around, the keys are perfectly spaced unlike the OEM keyboard.
Can you just get these keboards from the market or do you need to root your phone for them to work?
I like Anysoft Keyboard, as its the only one I've found with an apostrophe on the main pad.

SmartKeyboard Pro is the best keyboard.
I've tried many others but it is my choice.
I've tried a lot of Keyboards, but the best I've ever had is the HTC_IME by jonasl. ;-)

You can get some from the market, like SlideIt and Better Keyboard I believe, but HTC_IME and Swype need to be downloaded from the internet. No root required.
I use HTC_IME.
What you guys think is the best keyboard. Please share your opinions.

Smart Keyboard Pro. Use the iphone theme. Its certainly not the prettiest but for some reason its super accurate.
I like swype, after getting MT update it works fine
Smart keyboard pro.
The best.

SwiftKey... It has the ability to read your mind!

I have used swype, but slideit seems to provide better accuracy. Any opinions?
The default Japanese keyboard. It can either be in qwerty mode or the old phone 12 button mode.
Plus, it has a wider array of Japanese emoticons like this (^_^) and more.
LOL

Here I am trying to recommend something useful and this is the response I get. Doesn't pay to be helpful. Zzzzz
I've tried a few, swiftkey is probably the best.

I use 3 keyboards se stock, swiftkey and htc ime mod

I find swype awesome especially if you tweak the speed vs. accuracy settings to find what works best for you
Swype seems the most accurate to me
I like ShapeWriter. Pretty accurate and fun to use!

What is the best keyboard for fast typing with fast auto correct?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
For me, Swype.
Swyped from my LG-P509 using XDA App.
Try SwiftKey X not bad
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
The Gingerbread default keyboard works great.
Next comes Swype.
the gingerbread default keyboard has fast auto correct but you either have to type the whole word out or choose from the list of predictions
swype allows you to type fast but it might not give you the word you want. plus it takes up a big part of your screen
but id say gingerbread keyboard
My keyboard (gingerbread) is sloe and does not auto correct fast enough.

If you can get it try out the new Touchpal keyboard. Been testing it out myself
swype keyboard is the best
i would say stock gingerbread keyboard is better
at least for me..
but i turned of the quick fix option because it's annoying..

^^ I have used the swype and then changed to gingerbread KB and also turned off quick fix.. Love it!
swype for me... i tried swiftkey but its hard to type in portrait...
swype 3.0 sucks tho for this phone, it blocks too much of the screen so google older versions
Swype is the best for what you want
I personally love using HTC_IME MOD (HTC keyboard)...
I want to know what others use and why...
i am running 2.3.5 but i am using the old android 2.2 stock android keyboard. i like that it doesn't have space in between the letters so the keys are bigger. and i text a lot and i think the bigger the keys are, the faster i can text.

I prefer swype like interface.
I have used both swiftkey (before swype-like interface) and afterwards, swype, thumb keyboard, and Slideit.
I prefer using swiftkey slightly.
Swype is probably the best in regards to sliding.
Slideit is nice but has a slight lag that messes me up.
Swiftkey has some predictive stuff which can both help or hinder.
I think you can't go wrong with any of the above 3.
For tablets, I just use thumb keyboard.
for me either stock 4.2 keyboard or samsung galaxy s4's keyboard love them both
I like the stock keyboard and Google keyboard from the market. The stock keyboard is tough to type with after having a number of drinks

Haha. I use SwiftKey, in Pitch color scheme. Jelly Bean keyboard https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jlsoft.inputmethod.latin.jelly.free is great too. Just like the stock Google keyboard but with more secondary functions on the keys.
As someone who purchased both swype and swiftkey, I personally use the Samsung keyboard, though I must add that I took the apk from the international version and changed some things to make it work how I wanted it to. Currently I m testing the Google keyboard from the 4.3 leak and its pretty good, haven't used it very long though.

I've been a swype user since day 1. Even when I had my GS3 but I'm loving the stock Samsung keyboard on the GS4.
Pay for SwiftKey. Best app purchase I have ever made.

Wish Swype would for allow for customer autotexts (abbreviations). I use about 100 of these daily.
I used to use swiftkey before I came to the s4 but now I dont seem to think it looks good on the phone it just looks plan so as of now im using stock even though I serverly hate the keyboard because I keep making mistakes on it.
Have you guys tried touchpal?

I've used SwiftKey for nearly a year now. I did try the 4.2 stock keyboard for a week or two but found my way back to SwiftKey. The predictive capabilities are phenomenal and can really save you time.
I like the stock Samsung key board. The numbers on top are great. My only concern is the dictionary. I have added words to the Samsung dictionary, but they still dont show up when texting. Has anyone had success with adding words to the dictionary?
