what do you mean?
What kind of .zip?
is it flashable?
If not, extract it on PC or androidzip on phone, and use the wallpapers?
im not sure what kind of .zip your talking about.

The honeycomb wallpapers were in the forums about a week ago. I have the file on my phone but I don't know how to install. I tried doing it from recovery but it gets stuck on the installation screen.,

Don't do that. Just open the zip on your computer and see if you can pull the images out.

What he said^^^ I just make a folder on my internal sd called backgrounds and put my wallpapers in them.. I think if you long press on a zip file on your sd it will also extract it to a folder called extracted on your phone.

Just unzip and set the image as wallpaper.

[Q] gingerblur

When i downloaded the gingerblur file and opened it, there was no gingerblur installation.zip file in the package. I don't know any other way to put the rom onto my phone without this. Any help is appreciated.

Look at the post right above your last one. Research is a wonderful thing.
So do you not extract the file and just put the gingerblur.zip onto the sd card?

Boot animation

I know this is probably not the right place to post this, but I am trying to figure out how to install a boot animation on my vibrant. I have cm7 installed and found a forum that helped but all I get is a black screen or the plain android logo. I used super manager and moved the zip file to /system/media. And set the permissions to what it told me to. When I reboot nothing. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I have become quite savvy with my phone. Thanks.

You didn't exactly say this but, is the file named simply bootanimation.zip? Not talking down but trying to help. Other than that seems good.
The original file was named bootanimation.zip and I found a transformers one that I wanted and it was named bootanimation_transformers.zip. I tried leaving the file name, got the android logo. Renamed it and got a black screen.

search the Vibrant forum on custom boot animations... download a flashable zip boot animation file from one of the great devs on here then swap your images in place of theirs, re-zip it and flash it with CWM... worked for me like a charm!
One question, how do I replace images? Super manager won't let me unzip files. Do I need to use the PC for that or is there a simpler way?

My vote goes to PC
I used PC for everything as well...
Unzipped and re-zipped with 7zip and modded images with Gimp...
Thanks, I will give that a try when I get home and let you if it worked. Just to maybe clarify. Would I have to unzip both the original file and the new file and replace the new files with the original file and rezip and put back? Cause that is what I am going to try.

Extract an app

Hi there,
Is there any way to extract an app from a stock rom to place it on my phone?
Say, I don't know how I lost my stock Task Manager from GB, the one that closes applications after 2 minutes screen off, so I want to extract it from my friend s phone and install it on mine.
Or does anyone have it?
Thanks!

Download the gingerbread fruitcake. Task manager should be under system/app within the .zip.
I think the "fruitcakes" use .img files.

I know they are flashable zips but inside the zip is .img files which you cannot pull an apk from. You would have to flash it onto your phone and then pull the apk from your phone, whereas, custom roms come in zip folders but they have the system files inside which you can unzip and pull apks from on your computer. That's what I meant.

Oh ok. So, no easy way ofrece extracting the app?

Well, unless someone posts it here for you, you can just download a "Full" Blur rom onto your computer, such as Home Base, Darkside, or Wet Dream (they all have a "Full" version), and just unzip them, copy the apk, put it onto your sd card through your computer and then move into your /system/app folder (if you have a root file manager), set permissions and reboot.

Wallpapers? Flashable ZIP or location in /system

There's plenty of threads with cool wallpapers. However, they're not flashable zips and I can't find where to put them in the phone in order for me to be able to apply them. If anybody has a flashable zip for wallpapers or the location so I can just move them there myself. I'm on hyperdrive 17.1 if that makes a difference. I searched for an hour before posting this. I'll continue to check my phone files in hopes of finding it. Otherwise if anybody could point me in the right direction, It'd be very much appreciated
nada? Sheesh. So that's why I couldn't find any flashables either... what a bummer. But seeing all the threads for wallpapers... someone's gotta know where to put em. I thought I found the right directory but even after reboot they don't show on the WP selection screen
just extract them to your pictures folder and when you go to select a wallpaper use Gallery. They don't have to be in the system wallpapers in order to use them.
Technically they can be in any folder on your SDCard (internal or external) and the media scanner will find it and add it to your gallery app.
Try Zedge; search in the playstore.

You have to decompile framework-res.apk and put them in /res/drawable and recompile. (Note: you have to know how to recompile framework-res.apk properly or you bootloop and will have to Odin a stock image to get out of it)
