Hi!
So i got a friend with an HTC and Android 2.1, and i would like to use the Music player (google APS) that comes with his custom ROM, is that possible in any way?
Has someone updated the default music player from the mini X10?
Thanks in advance!
I have switched to Meridian Player which is free on the Android market (even if unfortunately the developer has inserted an ad banner is his latest update)...

you can remove adds by adding some lines to your /etc/hosts file!
hxxp://androidcommunity.com/forums/f7/ad-blocking-with-hosts-file-11852/
anyway, i tried meridian and did not like it, i am using doubletwist now!
I also want that music player
Try "cubed" music player. Absolutely the best. Cool interface, free, no ads
Try PowerAmp
Winamp is on the marketplace. It's winamp, it works great.
Any player with equalizer?

I like the "cubed" one too, but now use "doubleTwist" which inserts itself as the default player
i use RealPlayer
it also capable of handling photos and videos (cause our default gallery and video also sucks). it has an incredible interface. also widget.
I have updated my phone software to latest, then rooted and installed app2sd and everything works except musicplayer, allways showing empty music library...I have mp3 files in Music folder on sd card (/sdcard/music/album1) ...they work if I open root explorer and start 1 song then it plays...I tried other music players you sugested but with same problem...

Try btunes, you can specify the music folder and builds the library from there..
Dear devs,
I have a little problem and hoped someone could help me out.
I have searched all over for a music player with a nice widget for smaller screens, and now I have finally find one.
Its actually the official gingerbread android music app(search the market for gingerbread music. Its actually (almost) the same one as provided in slades rom.
Only there is one problem:
The shuffle and repeat buttons dont fit on the small screen, but in the one from slades rom they do.
So my question is could someone recompile slades music with the widget from the on provided bellow? This would be freaking sweat cause than I can call my phone 'perfect'. I will attached both players below.
Thanks in advance!
Gr, Matthijs

Try these other apps instead:
PlayerPro (market, paid)
Google Music 3.0 (market, free)
Winamp (market, free)
TuneWiki (market, free)
Songbird (market, free)
RealPlayer (market, free)
DoubleTwist (market, free)
cubed (market, free,[its name is the cubed symbol])
and there's a lot more that I haven't thought of at the time of writing.
Best music player so far is PowerAMP...its worth the buy, still you can try demo from the market its time limited, dunno for how many days Best player from all of them, best performance, built in EQ, supports BT headsets got a separate widget pack that is ideal for the mini, easy to use, tag support, etc.. The best one for me and i have tried about 20 different music players...
http://www.powerampapp.com/
Give it a try...
Yeah, the most recommended
Google music, simple but effective
Winamp is my choice..
do any of those support changing music tracks by using the headphone's button? because i really miss that. its annoying to have to unlock the phone to change tracks while i am running
Winamp does. You might need to check a box in the app settings. "control with headphones" or something like that. I like winamp, except it's a little heavy on the battery. The wifi-sync with desktop-winamp is great though!

hm.. will try it then. thanks!
I'd just like a music player with a full set of lockscreen controls.
left button: previous track
Middle: play/pause
right button next track
and a search bar on the screen itself to search songs in the library.
ALL lockscreen!!
Try UBERMUSIC! is a beta but is working pretty well is theme based and it is awesome
Astro Player is the best! It's playing music directly form a folder, making alphabetic playlist from songs in a folder and updates the playlist automaticaly when songs are added later inside the folder.
Real player perfect ^^
I noticed in the Acer forum, somebody ported the Thrive software over to the Acer.
I'm curious, has anybody tried putting the Thrive media player or SRS audio enhancements on the GT?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174973
Ah, looks like the Media player does work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156291 I couldn't find it with the XDA search, but it did come up via google.
I might add, it picks up DLNA servers quite good and playback is nice.
File Organizer
I would like to have the APK for Toshiba's File Organizer please.
i got a question about the native android mp3 player. its VERY slow in scrolling though songs. and pics of albums take time to refresh. its annoying. is there a faster mp3 player in the android market but that delivers the same sound quality of the native android mp3 player?
Sound quality, get PlayerPro or PowerAmp.
Want functionality and extreme style, nothing beats UberMusic for me.
There's more on the market, but those are tops for me.
Ubermusic is awesome give it a try. I turned off the album art cuz it downloads a band pic for the background. Pretty snazzy.

I really like winamp, but haven't tried ubermusic yet.

Ubermusic is extremely stylish and has a great UI straight from Zune, which IMO is the best UI. I also use MusicFX for my EQ and it seems to work well with Ubermusic. To use MusicFX, after you download it, go into your stock music app and go to settings and there will be an extra menu Sound Settings. Enable it there and Ubermusic will use the settings as well.
For the best of the best in terms of features and sound quality, you can compile your own build of Rockbox.
Or just ask me to make a build.
Only drawback is that it's not written for Android, but rather, other portable digital jukeboxes. The amount of features though far surpass those of any other apps.
You should give PowerAmp a try.
Miui player, no doubt. Beautiful ui with lyric download support. Smooth scrolling.

But then you have to be on MIUI, which can be problematic...
Nope, nothing beats UberMusic for me.
Another vote for Rockbox for sound quality
I also like MortPlayer for its focus on folder play.
If PowerAmp were priced more around $3 and the UI wasn't so 'customized' I'd go for it.. It's just over the top.
Zune UI? Ugh. Really?
I've tried a bunch and honestly I keep just going back to Music Mod. It's an updated version of the Froyo music player with a few added features and nicer widgets.
TTPOD
I have tried all of the above and only miui came close to ttpod perfomance....For me TT-pod is the best music player and its absolutely freee......
you dont have to be on miui for the player... there are standalone versions to download here in this forum

You don't need to. The apk is standalone.
none of you guys ever in to gapless albums? so far i've only had Jukefox that satisfies my gapless needs
I strongly recommend Jukefox, Mixzing or PlayerPro in terms of functionality.
Another vote for Rockbox.
Gapless, ReplayGain, crossfeed, proper shuffle and equalizer and it plays virtually any format, even tracker formats and nes roms. Takes a bit of getting used to, but once you know what to do, it's great.
There are some precompiled builds for different screen sizes here:

Oh wow, someone actually compiled it and put it up for everyone! And I was thinking I was going to offer builds to the community, but I guess someone already beat me to it!
Thanks for the link.
For me, gapless, replaygain (omg replaygain! I don't know any other mobile player that supports it other than Sansas), and I can use my themes and configuration files across 3 different devices: Android, my Toshiba F, and my Sansa e200.
Glad I could help. I didn't make the builds nor do I host them, though. I just found that link on the rockbox forums
I bought poweramp and have been using it this while and its very good and is pretty extensive in terms of features that one expects from an audio player.(normal user audience and not audiophiles). tried ubermusic today and it sounds better than poweramp(or may be just louder) but does not have any equalizer options for now. Also scrolling is a pain if you have more songs/albums.
Will try rockbox as many here have recommended.from the precompiled builds link which apk should i download for sgs2?
3d/cubed....pretty cool!

Nice find, looks good so far. I haven't found a music player that I really liked yet, hopefully this is the one.
Amazing!

Player Pro does this.
Agreed +1 on player pro (current player with sense skin)
Also use the folder option as well...so that option won me over entirely
I think there is like one more player that offers a folder option (trust me I went through them ALL) but cant think of it to save my life...might of been miui player??? idk?? dont hold me to it...
I think Mixing had folder option as well. I started using Player Pro a couple years ago and never looked back.
It's good but i prefer poweramp

It has a nice interface, but messing with the EQ too much causes it to hang. And if music is playing, you can't control it in any way, the only solution is to force close the app.
I usually just use Amazon MP3 to play music. The stock Blur player leaves a lot to be desired, and Google Music doesn't (seem to?) differentiate between cloud and local playback. With Amazon MP3 it's real easy. Plus, I buy music from them and I've ripped and uploaded my CDs to their cloud (and to Google's, it's nice to have options, heh). It isn't a great player, but it's reliable. And while I enjoy music, I don't play it on my phone often enough to need a fancy player.
But, thanks for the link, it was fun to try out.
