Guys,
Go to this website and download elegos' rom manager. It actually works on the streak. When you hit the boot into recovery option just hold down on the volume up and down button at the same time and you can enter customer recovery of your choice without fastbooting. I flashed streakmod's customer recovery using fast boot and elegos's app gets to it without connecting to your computer. You can perform rom updates, backups, and installs with this app. Its very cool. Check it out
http://www.elegosproject.org/android-rom-updater
**EDIT** I have since found that I am able to boot into custom recovery without this app.... I still think this app is very cool if you supply some cool repo's...
Thank you, it may be the tool and push I needed to start flashing on Android.
I was a pro in WM. Well, all you had to do was to copy file over to SD and restart the phone in update mode...so I was a pro on it, flashing very regularly.
For some reason Android seems much more complicated to get my head around.
Thanks again for sharing the knowledge
you mean, you installed this and you're still booting into streakmod with the volume buttons, so if you reset the phone without running the apps and hold the volume buttons down you will still get to the same screen....
the great thing about clockwork is that it was meant to do it all for you. just pick the rom in the os and away you go!
If you have to reboot and hold volume up and down to go into recovery then its not a rom manager, just a tool for rebooting. I can do the same thing on my streak now with rom manager and clockwork. Rom manager should do everything for you once you select update rom without the need to go into the recovery menu yourself.

guys, clockword rom manager has never worked on the streak... when you click boot into recovery it just restarts the phone and does nothing... 95% of all other phones when you click the boot into recovery it just goes with no button pushing. On the streak the button pushing won't even work with rom manager/clockwork. With this rom manager the reboot into recovery option gets you into streakmod custom recovery with vol up and vol down... Previously, I had to fastboot command my way into custom recovery.
Have you guys been having luck with rom manager booting into recovery by using the vol up and vol down? doesn't work for me... even after flashing the so called fix in the streak development forum

never, i just have streakmod flashed and use the button method, have a reboot shortcut on my furthest screen. works for me.
Look at "StreakMod". It is a custom ClockworkMod that fits the Streak. The first time you flash StreakMod, you need a computer to do it.
But, from there, it is as simple as downloading the Rom to your SD card, then rebooting holding the volume buttons, select the Rom, and it does the rest. StreakDroid (aka DJ_Steve's custom ROM) has an additional step of letting you pick what options you want on your device by way of editing an "install.txt" file on your SD card, but you can probably do that without a computer, too, if you want.
Cool.. thanks. I will admit that I have apparently been doing something wrong. You guys rock

Hello. I've a annoying problem with both ROM Manager and Clockwork Mod. My Legend won't boot up in neither ROM Manager nor Clockwork Mod when i tires to run a back up, launch Clockwork Mod Recovery or to install a new ROM. The booting just stops at an image of a Hero/Legend with a red triangle over it, and won't continue. Then I have to remove the battery to start up the phone again. What can I do get it fixed? Do I have to re-root?
Would be happy for some help!
Do you have the clockwork update.zip in the root of your SD? If so try pushing volume up and power in order to use fake-flash and start recovery manually.

Thanks for your answer, but nothing happend when I tries to power up the phone when I'm holding the volume button up. I have the update.zip file on the SD btw.
It's kinda annoying that the phone won't boot when I tries to do these thing, since I was about to go from Froyo Sense til CM6.1.

ugh, no no no you goose . hold the vol button down and power on and then go to "recovery". then on THAT screen you hold the vol button up with the power button and then go to apply update.zip
Aha, sorry then. It starts to be a while since I rooted, so I had forgotten how to start in that mode. But thanks for the help, I'll try it out!
Thank you guys, it worked! Backups my ROM now, and will install CM 6.1 tonight or tomorrow.
ok i think ive come to a conclusion that if i want to flash a regular rom like 351 i need to flash a amss file and a dsp1 file...before i flash the recovery and update....can someone conferm this???
also if thats the case is this something that should be done with 1.9
im having problems with both and my phone is now a paper weight please help me noone is helping me with any problems here!!
You're likely not getting answers because the information is in your instruction manual and on the forums. But, this should help you anyway.
To install 351, or for that matter, ANY official Dell ROM...
1. Download the 351 update package from here. Place said package on the root of the MicroSD card and rename to "update.pkg".
2. Shut down the phone.
3. Place the phone into recovery mode by holding both the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time while holding down the power button. Let go of the power button when the Dell logo appears.
4. If done properly, you should see a menu in white letters on a black background. This is recovery mode. In the menu that should appear there should be an option to flash an update package. Select this option using the volume up and down buttons to highlight your choice and the camera button to select. The Streak should automatically find the update package you put on the MicroSD in step 1 and install it. After that, it's a matter of patience and waiting for the process to finish.
If your recovery image is screwed up, search for multirecoveryflasher on the forums. From there you should be able to install a recovery image easily enough.

yes i am....
Ok, did you flash one of the stock recovery images, or one of the two that were modded (Streakmod and Clockworkmod)? I would restore one of the default images, whichever one was last on your phone, then do the update.
The fact you can get into fastboot means the phone isn't bricked, so that's good news.

i've flashed 351 recovery and i kept gettin the boot loop....then i flashed the 345 and same thing....then i flashed streakmod and flashed 1.9 and i get the same lock ups when i boot and boot loops.....
also
when my phone is in data mode and i try and reboot it that causes alot of problems with loading idk why but that might help
Download the update.pkg and the recovery again. They may have been corrupted. Then pull all the data off your external SD Card and do a full format (FAT32) on it. Once the format is complete load the update.pkg to the phone and try again.
I flashed my Vibrant using the gingerbread bootloader found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990 and this 2.3.4 rom with voodoo lagfix found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1228306.
The gingerbread bootloader has recovery and downloading key remapped, for downloading its VOLUP and POWER and for recovery its supposed to be VOLDOWN and POWER. Getting into downloading mode works fine but I can't get recovery to boot all the time, I got it to boot to the ClockworkMod Recovery with Voodoo Lagfix (red colored recovery a few times) but I think I used the combination of VOLDOWN and POWER and then pressed VOLUP and VOLDOWN only to get it to boot.
Recently however I have been unable to boot into recovery at all, VOLDOWN+POWER doesn't work (only causes a boot loop) and VOLUP+VOLDOWN+POWER then release power at Vibrant logo also doesn't work.
Can someone tell me an easy key combination to get into recovery? I really don't want to install ADB.
Is there not an option in the power menu to boot into recovery?
Have you tried an app to do it for you?
worst case, just flash something else...
You need to make sure your phone is completely off before trying to access recovery. The screen on the vibrant when it is almost off is also black, but that does not necessarily mean its off.
I somehow lost clockwork mod recovery, I think the rom I used uses the red cwm recover mode, whereas the ROM manager wants the green cwm recovery.

I actually think the Red recovery mode is prefered or is the latest version unless u had the E signature verification error. I am almost sure u can re flash another or update the recovery via SD root
Depends on what rom you have loaded it could be Blue or amber as well.
Make sure you have Rom manager downloaded (I assume you do) and enable it. Then, turn off and then pull the battery. Then re-insert the battery and go into recovery manually by holding the vol+ and - and power button. Here is a thing to remember, usually it is... let the screen blink 2 times and after the second blink release the buttons and it should go into recovery. But, depending on the rom it could be 3 times or 4. You may need to experiment on that. I have found if one suffers from getting into recovery ....once you have done it manually rom manager and all the others afterwards work perfectly. Software can be quirky....
hope you get it....
Can I get into recovery mode without a working home button? My i9100 has a faulty home button, phone is stuck on a bootloop will not get pass the samsung logo screen. I can flash the phone in odin with a stock rom and finish with success but still get stuck on bootloop. I think if I can get into recovery to wipe data then the phone will boot all the way. Any help is appreciated. I've searched but have found nothing solid. Thanks!
Buy a usb jig off ebay. plug it in then turn your phone on and it will put it into download mode.
e.g.

well i guess hes already got a jig. was wondering how he got in download mode with a broken home
I can get into download mode by pressing and holding volume down + pressing and releasing power but still holding volume down when turning the phone on. But my question is, how do I get into recovery without home button?
Flash a matching Chainfire CF root kernel via Odin (phone in DL mode). This with install his Cwm app. Once rebooted, run app (give su permission), and choose to boot into either clockwork recovery, dl mode, or reboot.
Edit: But once in recovery, how do you plan to actually select anything when the home button doesn't work? ? ?

He cant boot up, he's stuck at boot logo so no way to use the cwm from chainfire
Oh dear without the home button it's hard to operate the phone. I think you can boot into recovery mode by using ADB, search on the forums or Google.
I would rather you have the home button replaced ot fixed.
Cheers!

Use can use QtADB to get into recovery - just tried, it works. But the option "flash zip" doesn't work, and of course,................
how do you plan to "select" anything if the home button doesn't work? ? ? Can't think of any way just yet.

If you have adb setup, and know how to use it;
1. Copy the Custom ROM.zip to your sdcard folder on the phone
2. Rename to "update.zip"
3. Run CMD and navigate to the sdk tool folder where adb.exe is
4. Run "adb reboot recovery" to enter recovery mode
5. Phone to boots into recovery screen
6. "apply: /sdcard/update.zip"
7. After finish, reboot into new ROM
Haven't tried it myself though on the SGS2 ..............
tried it, didn't work..
Lost my Home button after odin flash HELP
I am stuck a i9100 that has no home working home button after i botched my first odin flash. I can not seem to get the device to be recognized by ADB or ODIN now that its messed up. I can boot into the Android Recovery System e3, and i can move up and down in the menu, but the 'home' button i used to select options no longer works. I can not get it to boot out of that menu.
This is a Sprint branded i9100 from the United States... tho when i got it, it was already 'rooted' with Gingerbread-Eg30 however it did not state the firmware version. So after i used ODIN to ref lash it... it rebooted and killed my home key... Now i am not sure what to do. ADB is not finding the device listed and I can't seem to get it to take a rom. Any suggestions?
Prior to flashing this rom in odin i had a working home key which was used as part of the 3 button combo to ender flashing mode or to select an option in the stock recovery menu.
Any help would be great!

I am having the same problem. My I9100's home button doesn't work. I had cyanogenmod 10.1 and cwm recovery installed. Used the button saviour app to operate a virtual home button on screen. Updated to cyanogenmod 10.2. nightly yesterday. All seemed working. Today I found that some apps like Google Play and ROM Manager would crash on when started. So I thought I go back to cyanogenmod 10.1. Started the installation of 10.1 from the "about this phone" settings because ROM Manager crashed and I couldn't boot into recovery from the crashing ROM Manager.
So, I now flashed a stock firmware from samfirmware.com with ODIN (because I can get into download mode with the USB-Jig), but that stock rom stucks in a boot loop.
Any suggestions? I believe, I am stuck in boot loop because I couldn't wipe the phone before flashing. Is there any way to wipe it in download mode?
Or can you be more specific, how to flash a "full wipe rom" and post a link where I can download such a rom?
1. Don't use rom manager on i9100, sure way to screw things up /brick.
2. Get the hardware sorted before you muck around with software. As you have found out, it's easy to get into a situation where you need the hardware to function correctly.
3. Download JB leak (stock firmware) from samfirmware and flash it via Odin. It's a 3 part firmware, and will wipe as it flashes.

I was trying to partition my external SD card through Rom Manager and it said I needed CWM installed, so I did it. The problem is, I had TWRP already installed and now I can't get into recovery. It will just stay at the Asus logo screen. I am having trouble getting into Fastboot as well. It just seems to freeze whenever I press vol up on anything. I am able however to boot normally into android so at least I'm not bricked. What should I do?

when you go into fastboot it doesnt do much. try this hold vol down while powering up. then when you have 4 icons let go and push vol down until the usb symbol is highlighted then push vol up. this is fastboot mode. then do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34359560&postcount=5497
Yeah I saw that earlier. But my project for today was to get HB going with data2sd. Can I flash that one you posted fix it, then flash the regular TWRP to be able to do data2sd?
Edit: Nevermind, got it!
