[Q] ►► Help me fixing/improving my LG Optimus One ◄◄ - Optimus One, P500, V General

I've recently found that my P500's touchscreen is not working how it should ...
So, I have:
Android 2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.9 (stock)
Software version: V10c-OCT-12-2010
And I would like to fix:
Touchscreen proccesor bug (the processor is used 100% when screen is touched)
Touchscreen multi-touch problem ( www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=ujc1sa-3ONY ). It is really annoying in games.
Update to 2.2.1 (if it is beter than 2.2 becouse I've heard that for optimus One is better 2.2 becouse 2.2.1 is slower) or the latest version of Android 2.2
Any way to install Flash on it ? (Lite 3.1 or Lite 4.0 or Flash 10.1... doesn't really matter)
I'm not intersted in custom ROMs or overclocking the proccesor.
Sorry for my bad english.

Fix is kernel from mik_os - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929941
For install you need custom recovery installed (needs root)

Update is available from LG update tool. By update you lost custom recovery, custom kernel and all other updates. 2.2.1 can't be rooted so custom recovery can't be installed. If you don't want use custom ROM, than you can not improve anything (no custom rom = no updates)

Not possible because Adobe not suppport ARMv6 processor, which is used in our device. And it seems, that it will never support as well.

Thanks for the help, but I still have a few questions.
What is the latest version of Android 2.2 for P500 ? It's v10E ?
I don't mind to install custom recovery or modify the firmware a bit, but I don't want to use Custom firmware made by other people (sorry, don't get me wrong, I like to use patches or bugfixes or other stuff like that to improve the performance, but I want to keep the O.S. as stock as possible ... The be honest I would like stock Android on my P500 ...)
Also, how can I kill for good an application ... I mean I kill applications with Advanced Task Manager, but they keep starting again ... It's annoying becouse even if I don't use that app, that app still stays in backgrounds and eat battery ...
And where can I get the Sense UI Wallpaper, Live Wallpapr and if possible the Sense UI widgets ?

You don't need one. Apps that stay in your RAM that doesn't use CPU cycles won't eat your battery. Also, the reason why they're starting up again is that some of your apps (or Android itself) is looking for it, so it starts the app again. Killing and restarting apps consumes a lot more CPU cycles than leaving it alone
Note: Some apps stay in RAM (which taskillers show you even if they're idle) so they can be restarted quickly. Android was designed that way.
Tip 1: Don't use task killers.
Tip 2: Get used to it (Trust me on this one. I restart rarely, therefore I have a lot of apps in RAM and I can still go for 2 - 3 days with my battery)
Tip 3: Get Watchdog from the market. It monitors apps that behave...welll...badly. Or those who have high CPU usage.

I must confirm kpbotbot's words. It is only one thing that task killer kills and it is battery. I had few, and after I uninstall that, I got small improvements in battery live. Till Adnroid 2.2 task killer makes no sense because memory and CPU management was very improved.

It can't be said like that. Every operator have their own version control. Some people also saying that some different version have same MD5 hash so... who knows. Seems, that there is only two versions - 2.2 and 2.2.1.

Its possible to update to v10f from LG updater, but whether your phone is able to detect the update is up to the provider

I've had before an GT540 and I've update it from 1.6 to 2.1 with some 3rd party PC application becouse LG Suite didn't find a nevere verstio, but I would like to know what is the latest vresion of Android 2.2 for P500 ? Is V10F ?

[Q] Need Serious Help..

Okay, the headline might be a bit dramatic, but I've used a couple of days figuring all this android stuff out.
I've rooted my HTC Hero G2 (European version). I was previously using the official 2.1 with LauncherPro modding and stuff and I liked the speed, but wanted to try out Froyo.
So I started out by rooting..
Then I installed Fusion!ROM 2.2, but after the installation I played around with the phone a little and found it to be a bit laggy. I then started reading some stuff about Kernels and overclocking.. But it's impossible for me to find a proper and well describing guide on how to do this..
I read that it's just like flashing a rom but do you do flash it to the phone after flashing the custom rom?
Of course this is not something I played around with when using the Fusion!ROM because I downloaded the version called:
Software over-clockable version... clocks reset when phone is rebooted...
And just now I found out that I needed to download some software to overclock the phone but isn't there some easier way.. for example downloading some of the other versions, but I didn't want to download because I'm afraid of breaking my phone in unawareness.
Also I read about FroydVillain 1.4 (but is this a Froyo version? Assuming so on the name, but couldn't find a statement on the download site..) and it seems to be a very popular rom including LauncherPro and ADWLauncher.. And since I liked LauncherPro on the official 2.1, I'm thinking about checking this one out.. but again I'm stuck with the kernel/overclocking question..
I thank you in advance for a guide / some good advice and as you might have noticed I'm quite new to all this stuff so I'm sorry for being a newb
1. First you need the custom rom and if you want a kernel, you should flash the kernel on top of the custom rom, just get into recovery mode and press flash zip and choose the kernel.
2. Software over-clockable version... clocks reset when phone is rebooted just means that you can overclock your rom with software like SetCPU and overclock widget, which means that you can set your desired speed in the software. And you can't break your phone by flashing a kernel or overclocking it.
3. Yes froydVillain is a 2.2 (froyo) ROM
Flash ROM > Flash Kernel
And definitely try FroydVillain (yep, it's Froyo).
Cheers!!
I didn't expect getting an answer before tomorrow but seems I was wrong.
I just flashed the FroydVillain and I'm about to try it out.
Is there any restrictions to what the HTC Hero / G2 can handle of kernels? And what are the differences between them?
On the FroydVillain page I've find a couple of different ones.. 614 / 652 / 691 and so on.. One idea on which one is fitted for a G2?
Once again.. thanks in advance!
Everybody's Hero's are different and can handle different clock speeds. 652 is safe, most can handle 691 and the 700s are pushing it for many.
Just a matter of trial and error to see the fastest yours can take.
Doesn't the initial clock speed have some limitations on the battery life time on the phone?
I also have just one question to the FroydVillain which you might be able to answer for me...
I doesn't seem like my Lock Screen works..? I've set up a pattern but nothing really happends. I've also added the Power Control widget and ensured that the lock pattern is enabled through this widget..
EDIT: I know why.. nvm
Thread moved to Q&A.

[Q] Which ROM should I get (or what should I do) to update my phone ?

Hi guys, I'm a french speaking swiss personn ^^
I'm using the SGS2 since aboutly 4 months now and I get it rooted in early june...
But I'm experimenting random reboot, a few, not often, but sometimes... usually when getting superuser autorisation and often when starting and analysing SD card !!!
I don't know if that are know issues, but I thing an update would be anyway really good for my phone.
BUT !!!
But there is a problem : I don't want to loose anything I already have on it... I bought a few apps, installed a lots of things... Some of which aren't in the market anymore (!!)
And I sync a lot, really a lot, email adresses, gmail account, etc. ^^'
I have 14 Gmail accounts, 4 email adresses and some things like skype, ebbudy, facebook and I really don't want to have to re-sync everything, re-type my passwords, etc.
So, what should I do ???
I have for the moment :
GT-I91000
2.3.3
I91000XXKDJ
2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE2-CL187606
[email protected] #2
GINGERBREAD.XWKE2
Is it really outdated ???
I have to say that I really love Touchwiz, so I absolutely want to continue using it, and I don't want any data loss... Contacts, bookmarks, etc. ^^'
Is it possible to update or upgrade to some new kernel/rom/android version ???
I don't care about using Odin, I know it, played a lot around with it and my Adam Tab
What is really brand new ? I'm really not up to date with android news, so I don't even know if 2.3.4 is already out or what ever, maybe there is Touchwiz 5 also ? ^^'
So I come here hoping there will be some generous person wanting to share its knowledge with me
Oh, and obviously I need to have root (Titanium backup, Chainfire 3D pro, etc.)
And it has to be in French (I mean the OS).
So, anybody ???
Ho, and btw : how could I make a full backup of my phone, so that if anything goes wrong I would be able to come back to the state it is now, with all SMS, all whatsapp, all email all aps, all settings saved ???
BTW 2 : I though a little about that whole : is there any easy way to get my apps, my save, etc. and to put it in a new rom after a full wipe, etc
And with the less data-loss as possible ???
I mean, it's ok if I loose some small things, but all the apps I have and my email/gmail account are the only really important things... I could accept to loose my SMS, my angry bird savegame, etc. It's no vital matter
PS : I know I could work this out myself, but it would involve hours of reading, blogs, news, etc. And then I should search the whole forum to find the really relevant topics and only then I could maybe update my phone... I know it's like that, because I did it once in june to root my phone, there wasn't lots of methods but there was loads of topics saying somebody did maybe see something that looks like a one click root and then another topic claiming there isn't any one click root for the moment but that this method was fine, etc etc etc !!! Eventually I used the chainfire methods... I hope it won't cause any problem...
So, I'm having no time to get through the floods of informations there are out there on the net, that's why I dare ask such a thing
Uh, really nobody as any clue to give?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
If you want to keep touchwiz, I would definitely suggest Cognition Rom. It gives much better speed and battery life and also gives great new features.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124396
However to install it you need to wipe your phone.
If you sync all your contacts, calendar etc. with Google and backup up all of your apps and app data with Titanium Backup you will not lose anything.
If you ever feel like moving away from touchwiz, try MIUI.
It has speed, better battery life and nicer aesthetics.
Wow...long post.
So, to recap:
-You're getting random reboots.
-You want to flash a new ROM that has TouchWiz and Android 2.3.4
-You don't want to lose data
1. Nobody can tell you which ROM to use. Go to the dev section and pick one based on the description and your needs.
2. You need Titanium Backup Pro. This will backup all your data.
On a side note, I would suggest that you only restore your user apps and not your system data. If you restore you system data, there's a chance that you'll simply recreate your reboot problem on your new ROM. But doing so means you have to type in your login details for all your stuff again. But I suppose that's the price you need to pay. No free lunch in this world.
And what about lighting rom ?
Has it touchwiz ?
uh and I don't want especially android 2.3.4, I just want the latest one, so if 2.3.6 is out I would like to get it ;D
But it certainly not the case.
Why do you prefer custom rom to stock rom from samsung?
Where could I find a real review of those custom rom ??? with explanation, what did change from the stock rom, how good the battery life it's improved, etc... ?
I have two days battery life if I don't play games... And I manage to get up to 3 days 20h once, without plane mode ! Will it be really better?
Thanks
PS : sorry for the length of my previous post, I'm not good at shortening stories ^^'
PPS : I remember something called CWM came with the root, is that usefull, or not in my case ? I think it's a backup utility, isn't it ?

And I still have some questions :
to which extent will I keep the apps I installed, and the data I have on my phone when flashing a new one ??
Titanium Backup will backup what ?
And where is the global backup option ? There isn't any I think...
Do I have to clique on each apps and then click on "save !" etc. for every of them ?
And then flash the new rom, etc. and won't loose any apps ?
And how could I do a full backup of every think on my phone to my computer ???
I have only a few space left on my phone... 1GB aboutly... Well, lot of it is just files I put on it, music, videos, etc. But I guess some of it are coming from my apps...
Do a full wipe and flash new rom won't delete of those any data ???
And then with my new rom, I just have to install Titanium Backup pro and it will see every saves I did and I will be able to restore them ??
I guess I'm quite a noob with that, because I played a lot around with my Adam, but I never care about keeping any data in it...
That the first time I worry about data loss and ROM and android
PS : thanks a lot for that link, I don't know how I was able to miss this huide ^^' But it doesn't answer all my questions ^^''

Okay...
Well, for titanium backup... I still have a problem : how could I use this "batch" you mentioned... ??? I know batch as being files you use on the computer to run some scripts... from killing process and starting others to connecting to network or printer or whatever you want...
But I don't know how to use Batch with android...
So, I just read about Nandroid backup... Can I do one with my phone ?
I have the CWM Manager v1.80 on it, from my root... What is this "backup" function it has ? Nandroid backup ? Do I need lot of space on my SD card to do it ???
And then could you advise me about all those ROM there are out there ???
My questions about them :
-If I want a stock ROM from samsung but the latest one, what should I install ?
-If I want Touchwiz (the latest), gmail, email, calender, sms from samsung, but that I would like to have something more optimised, what should I look for ?
I would actually like to get a samsung Rom, with the latest update but deodexed, "zipaligned", well optimised in a word... Camera hack would be nice, but not necessary, I can do it myself, as I already did...
In a word I want something efficient : simple, fast and functional...
If it has cool features like the lock screen personalisation, etc. I don't say no, but if it's not smoother, faster, "better" than the samsung stock rom with the Chainfire CF-Root Kernel, then it doesn't interest me ^^'''
Thanks for your patience, I know I ask lot of stupid questions.

Again you got to read the custom rom posts and make up your own mind .
Root wont make a rom faster .
Personally you should stick to stock until you know what you want and find the rom with your needs .Their is not the room to improve SGS2 as with SGS1 .

Plenty of roms to choose from, I've tried the majority of them but prefer the stock like ones such as VillainRom or Modaco Custom Rom. Both are very good. Leos rom is also good with his kitchen. Just read through the threads and you'll get an idea of what they are like.

Alright, I messed up my phone trying to backup it '^^
So now I've installed Lighting 6.1 ... But I find it less reactiv as what I had before... Is that strange or not ?
Also : what do you mean with "stock ones like VillainRom or Modaco Custom Rom" ???
You mean it's just like stock from samsung ? But there are certainly differencies, aren't there ? Where are those diff ??
And still a question : for smoothness, reactivness and confort of use, what will be most important : a good ROM or a good Kernel ??
Because there are lots of kernel also, is that a better idea to get a stock rom, a firmware from samsung, then to wipe everything and to install it and then flash another kernel ?
I just want a little better perf and battery life, I don't care about features or whatever : the samsung touchwiz feature are fine for me...
I just want root also. (for some apps)

VR and MCR are like stock roms with tweaks to make them perform better. Other roms add like camera mods, themes, and other type of tweaks to them as one package. The 2 mentioned VR you have VR tweaks to customize as you like, and MCR has an online kitchen to customize as you like, as well as Leomars rom has a kitchen to install additional tweaks. I prefer these so I can tweak as I like.
Kernels you have to try them all and find the best combination. I like speedmod and ninpos kernel, both are great. Both are fast and smooth as well.

New Ace User..

Greetings all..
I just bought a SAM Ace.. i had a Htc Magic then a X10 mini and now i turned to SAM.. heard that it was a good machine.. so..
I've been using XDA to root, and install new roms to my previous phones..
But in this SAM, unfortunately i am a bit conserned.. So can any1 help me in this questions:
: I'm running Ginger 2.2.3 updated throug Kies
1 - My mobile is sim locked.. i can't use any other sim.. I already searched that is possible to (root) the phone and then install an apk that unlocks the sim lock.. has any1 tried this? is it safe?
2 - I'm a bit worried to (root) this phone, does any1 report any problem after with network, battery and general stability of the device?
3 - Is the best stable official rom at the moment the one i have now or is there a better one ? Though Kies i can't find the 2.2.4v u guys are talking about.. so .. This isn't really an official rom right?
4- Since i've got my phone from Vodafone, it has some operator aps that i don't really use and they are using needed space, is there a way to remove them somehow.. like.. instaling a official rom from elsewere, but still upgradable through Kies? Or do i really need to (root) the device? After rooted, can i still install a official 2.2.3 rom.. but.. without all the operator crap?
5 - There are a few custom roms as i can see, i used to use de Cyanogen in my X10 mini, but i had some issues with sending and receiving mms.. , at the moment.. is there any stable and fully operational roms ? including the mms solved problems..? cof cof.. and good battey usage time ?
6 - Sorry for any bad english.
Thank you !!
Welcome to the community!
For question 4,I have used 2.2.1 and 2.3.4.felt ok except the wifi died occasionally which was a documented problem.
For question 5,I am currently on cyanogen but its a rc version.I am quite happy with it as performance boosted.but it came at the price of battery life.haven't tried mms though

1. No idea although I don't see why it wouldn't be safe.
2. Rooting is easy. Like everything else, be careful and follow instructions to the T and you'll have no problems.
3. Correct. There is no 2.3.4 update through Kies...I think. Plug your phone in and find out.
4. If you want to remove bloatware, root your device and use Root Unistaller. Alternatively, flash a new ROM.
5. There are two variants of CM7.1 at the moment. One was made by BehradGH the other by Grif_07. Both work wonderfully.
6. It wasn't that bad =]

You should really be cautious when trying to unlock your phone. A lot of people bricked their phone by doing this. Since I have no personal experience in this; all I can do is direct you to threads on XDA but I'm too lazy to look them up for you so I suggest you to use "search".

I am using Icecream Sunday by Jusada. It's an ICS themed CM7.1 ROM but it has been stripped down to the bear minimum. Jusada initially made it as a foundation ROM for developers to then customize as they saw fit but it has become very popular amongst forum members as a day-to-day ROM. It is very stable and more importantly (for me) it is FAST!
Also, because it has been stripped down, I have noticed a lot better battery time.
Granted, the battery life on almost all Android phones is crap, but if you're looking to be more conservative with power and increased speed, use Icecream Sunday.
So to answer your question - I get about half a day's SOLID use from my battery.
As far as MMS goes, I am not sure. You'd have to ask one of the devs.
Hope that's helped

Welcome to XDA!
1) It can be quite tricky to unlock the Ace, and can brick/reset it. First check if it really is locked.
2) There's risk involved in rooting, but it's minimal - if you follow the instructions. There are pros and cons of rooting, but the pros outweigh the cons.
3) Kies sucks IMO, so you're better off upgrading with ODIN. Look in this section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1167.
4) The best way to remove the bloatware/crapware is by rooting and then uninstalling them, or by flashing a custom ROM.
5) There are a lot of stable ROMs available, take your pick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194358, there's supposed to be an official Cyanogen for Ace(cooper) in the works, but if you can't wait that long, I recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263292

It does matter whether you get Android 2.1 and 2.3. Android 2.3 is (on most devices) faster, more stable, supports more apps, has many bug fixes and optimizations than Android 2.1. Recommendations: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161270 (not Eclair ). CyanogenMod is also very good.

clear all market data in app manager, ics is like vista (when xp is like gb), it will be slower but nicer looking i installed xray kernel and created swap on zram disk and now it is much more smooth, almost like gb. but games still lags its ics...
rooting phone will not speed it up, if you want install custom rom, it will probably be much faster (but i prefer clean stock roms with bloatware removed and with uv kernel).
