Honeycomb - Using the Default Email App to Sync GMail and Contacts. - Nook Color Themes and Apps

I haven't seen anyone post this yet. If it's been done, oops.
Gmail has an Exchange server set up for Windows Mobile, iOS and Blackberry to connect to and sync mail and contacts. I added a corporate account in honeycomb using the same info and it worked.
It has successfully synced up my mail and filled my contacts. Email in the app functions like IMAP accounts (no labels, just folders), but it works.
The link below is the setup page for iOS with all of the pertinent information:

[Q] IMAP not syncing folders

I am using Samsung Galaxy i9100 generic email app.
When setting up the email accounts with IMAP I noticed that the SENT folder on the phone is not properly synced. Actually, it is not synced at all.
I tried to put the path prefix INBOX and also Inbox but without any improvement.
Any ideas how to sync properly the SENT folder?
It sounds as though you have let the phone set up a POP account. What is the e-mail account (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) so we can check your settings?
If you add a folder in the webmail version, does it appear in the phone email client when you sync folders?
I'm not sure if this is your issue, but I don't think the built-in email app supports IMAP IDLE. IOW, it does not automatic real time sync or push email from the server. You need to actively check mail or set the app to automatically check on an interval. If you want real time sync you may want to try an app like K9.
@fred_up
I did the manual setup where I have chosen the IMAP-setup.
The email account is not Gmail, Yahoo or any of these publicly available accounts. It is an account that I set up on a shared hosting server. The account does work properly e.g. with K9
@GeorgeP
The sync of the Inbox does work perfectly. Very good is the schedule sync feature that the Samsung email app offers. What currently does not sync (not even manually) is the SENT folder of the Samsung email app with the IMAP account.
The principal question is:
how can I change that sent emails are stored in the Imap folder "INBOX.sent" and not in the Samsung folder "Sent", using Samsung's email app?

[Q] What counts as a google account?

I just got my note the other day and when it asked for a google account I just entered my gmail account since that was the first thing that popped into my head. I hardly use my gmail though since I only made it for my cosplay profiles on facebook and google+. I added another account to my phone logging in with my yahoo email since my yahoo email is linked to my main google+ and youtube. Now since my yahoo is linked to youtube and google+ does that count as a google account or does a google account have to be with gmail? I tried to un sync my gmail account from my phone but I was told I would have to put the phone back on factory settings so I just un synced the email part of the account.
When I start buying music and videos from the play store I do not want things to get confusing so since I have logged into my phone using my yahoo account and un synced the email part of the gmail account does that mean any purchases will be linked to the yahoo account with google+ and youtube? Should I link my yahoo to my gmail or would that just make things more confusing? I just switched over from an iphone so I am still trying to figure all this out.
Leave Yahoo mail and just use gmail and all the confusion goes away. Send an email to all contacts about the email address switch and leave Yahoo synced to gmail for awhile until the switch is complete then you can delete it. email accounts are disposable these days.
Btw as to what counts as a google account. The answer is of course a google account :/

whos on first??
just use gmail and link your yahoo to your gmail account, and you can send and receive emails through yahoo via the gmail app... you will have to link the accounts in gmail settings:good:
So linking my yahoo and gmail will just make it so my yahoo is connected to my gmail and I will basically get all my yahoo emails in my gmail account? As for deleting my yahoo won't that mess up my facebook and google+ accounts though as I use that email to log in to them? As I mentioned in my first post I use my gmail for my cosplay accounts on facebook and google+ so if I delete my yahoo email wouldn't I be locked out of logging into my normal facebook and google+ accounts since my gmail is already in use?
You dont have to delete anything. You can keep your yahoo account for emails and user your gmail for the phone.
Also download the yahoo mail app or use the stock email app fpr emails of nongoogle accounts. Simple

Don't delete anything just use your gmail account to send receive delete whatever on both your yahoo and gmail account I do the same thing with mine I have two email accounts as well

Ok so just combine the 2 accounts? And that won't affect my 2 facebook, twitters, and google+ accounts? Even with the accounts merged I can still log into my normal social media accounts with yahoo and my cosplay ones with gmail? Any purchases I make in the playstore will be linked to that one big account? I just want to make sure I absolutely understand before I do this.
To merge the accounts, in gmail I go to settings>accounts and import>send mail as (add another email address you own)> then when the window pops up type in my name and e mail address and un check the alias box, select send through gmail, then send verification.
Use your yahoo as a Gmail account. If it won't let you through the phone I believe you can do it on YouTube. I have a yahoo Gmail secondary account.
Your Gmail account for the phone doesn't have to end in Gmail.com

If you want to keep your Yahoo email address as your main address you can (My google account ends with @msn.com)
Go to google and create a new Account. Use your yahoo address as your username. You'll be able to log in to Google products using this username, just keep in mind that even if it has the same name as your Yahoo account it is a different account.
Once you are all set up with your new Google account add your existing GMail account. From this point you'll be able to log in using your Yahoo name, but Google will say that your default account name is your GMail name. (When I flash a new rom and I enter my Google info I always use my @msn.com account and Android is smart enough to synch with my gmail account).
Now that you have a Google Account and GMail go to your Yahoo e-mail service and set it up to forward all your e-mail to your gmail account (I did this in hotmail). From now on all your Yahoo mail will be delivered to GMail. You can use the Gmail app in android to view all your mail. You can add more e-mail accounts if you want. Doing this all your Facebook, Tweeter, etc accounts that are linked to your Yahoo account don't need to be changed and all the notifications will pop up in GMail.
Another thing to do in GMail settings is to chose the account that will be default when you reply to a message. In this step I chose my @msn.com account. All my contacts keep sending messages to my @msn.com account and they have no idea I'm using Google. When they receive an e-mail from me it looks like if it was sent from my @msn.com account, even tough I used GMail.
Do some research in GMail settings. You can add several accounts and manage them from one centralized location. If you want to differentiate between e-mail received you can always set default labels depending on the account where the e-mail was received originally.
Ok I have enough information I I understand what you guys are saying now. Plus I logged into google play from my web browser using my google+ log in that uses my yahoo and it worked so pretty much all my questions have been answered. Thank you to all of you who helped me out.

Google stopping support of exchange protocol

Since google is stopping support for the exchange option for gmail (unless you pay for hosted email / google premium services). what are other options to get email, contacts and calendar without using separate protocols like mail (imap, smtp, pop3), calendar (caldav), and contacts (cardav) ?
Of course if you use the gmail app, it's not an issue, but for users that like the separate email apps (like the htc email app) , this could be an inconvenience. I do not believe setting up a 3rd party email app using the Google protocol uses push email).
*** I've been testing a mixed sync of google for contacts and calendar and exchange for email (my email is being domain at gmail) and contacts and calendar work fine. No real solution for push mail as of yet, and imap is too slow

Stock email app problem displaying Hotmail emails

Hello, I am using the stock email app on the MT2L03 configured for Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and Exchange mail boxes. I noticed that any graphics / pictures in Hotmail emails body copies are only showing up as web URL.
However, emails from all the other mail services display correctly
So if I forward an email from Hotmail to Gmail and read it on the stock client, it displays perfectly.
I tried to get help from the helpline but they asked me to speak to Microsoft for a resolution!
I have tried both m.hotmail.com and s.outlook.com as the mail server config with no luck.
The mate 2 email client is a mess
You might want to forget about the stock email client and go with an all gmail solution, seems to work well for me :
Download the gmail and exchange apks from Android police (since I can't post links google: Gmail 5.0 With Exchange Support And Material Design Has Landed)
Either disable your stock email client or remove
Open gmail
Setup a new account, choose exchange as the type.
Setup the account like you would on the stock client.
The exchange sync seems to work for me.
If you want something easier and nice, get the mailwise app (again, can't post a link) from play (just know you can'tadd or update contacts). .

Syncing An Outlook.com Calendar with the Calendar App

I've had a look but couldn't find the answer ?
How do I get the default calendar app (or another simple app) to sync with Outlook.com calendars?
I want to be able to add events that will add to Outlook by default.
I've added my Outlook.com address as an IMAP account. Should I have chosen the Exchange account?
On a slightly separate note, will adding it as Exchange account allow me to have push notifications?
Thanks
Not sure about push notification, but adding an Exchange account on your phone would make your default calendar app sync with Outlook.com. You can even sync your desktop Outlook calendar with your phone's calendar app if your email provider has Exchange feature. If not, try something like Akruto.
Or you can also try to add Outlook.com account and see what will happen.
I've added my outlook.com at out as an exchange account but still nothing populated in the default calendar ?
Have you tried adding your Outlook.com address as Outlook.com account in your phone's settings?
You can also use AkrutoSync to sync Outlook with Android devices.
