I am needing install a new rom to my SD card...but can't simply move the file over to my phone at the moment (er, I only have fastboot right now). Can I move a file over using fastboot and then use clockworkmod to flash it?
Lemme Rephrase
OK...lemme rephrase this question so you guys can tell what I am up to:
Is there a way to use Fastboot to install Streakdroid 1.5.3 on my Streak? I have 1.6.1.zip file on my streak right now, but when I attempted to flash the rom, all I get it the Energy Star Bios Screen....I am trying to revert back to 1.5.3 so that I can use the phone. Please advise...as right now I have a brick. I am stuck in the Energy Bios screen and this phone isn't wanting to let go.
When I try to enter "fastboot -i 0x413c update update-1.5.3-nobb.zip", I get the following error message:
archive does not contain "android-info.txt"
archive does not contain "android-product.txt"
If you can get into fastboot can't you use the QDLtool to install a working ROM?

have you try to install the zip file using recovery?
I did the same mistake, try to install via fastboot but it didn't worked.
But then I try it via recovery and install the zip file.
Update To My Issue
Schiz - While I get to the recovery screen, the only ROM I have is 1.6.1, and that seems to be failing
Marvin - I am looking into QDTool now...do you have a link that you would recommend?

Visit streakdroid.com. Read the guides and get what you need from the DL section. I've never had to use the QDLTool.
If you can get into Recovery you can mount your SD card to your computer via USB. Then transfer the file over that way and install ZIP from SD. Your Fastboot update method is incorrect.

I just verified with StreakMod recovery that you can in fact "mount sd card via PC" under the advanced menu.
So, if you are able to fastboot, flash StreakMod recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840326
Unzip and flash with: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot with: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Hold down the keys "volume up" and "volume down" simultaneously while rebooting.
Select "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" in the menu
At the Dell Logo press the power button and you will be presented with the Recovery Menu

Hi
I have a aws streak which I'd like to root and put a custom rom on. Here's the question: is the root process the same as for the regular AT&T streak?
I tried searching, but I cant seem to find straight answer...
Thank you

baseband : GAUSB1A34500-US
KERNEL version : 2.6.32.9-perf
OEM : GAUSB1A134500

1. Then copy over the file Superuser.zip Attachment 545097 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=545097) into
SD card. This is the Superuser app
2. Turn off your phone and flash to fastboot menu
3. unzip streakmod-recovery Attachment 545093 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=545093) to you computer
4. flash recover.img >> fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery-SU.img (or whatever you renamed the recovery file to)
5. reboot >> fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
6. go to recovery mode (volume rocker up+down+power button key)
7.select install ZIP from sdcard

13.select reboot
14.done!
*** this is not my work. I simply copy & pasted from another XDA forum***
So, from what you saying, it doesnt matter if its AWS or not and I can use the same files and same process to root it as the regular US streak?
I noticed the baseband you mentioned is GAUSB1A34500-US which is regular streak..
Heres what I have GAUSB1A133300-AWS.

If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.
Thank you
hello
after read this tutorial it doesn't work.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Dell_Streak:_Full_Update_Guide
( Rooting the Dell Streak )
I installed custom recovery-v0.3.2.7-DoctorWFix.zip
and fastboot work.
I readed many tutorial but i can't unbrick it, please help me.
Lele
First thing think that post was very old, CM never worked right on Streak 5, so if you get your Streak up and running never load it again. As for fixes, PM DJ_Steve and ask him to either upload his qdl tool or permission for one of XDA members to upload it. I have it, but without his permission will not upload it.
> recovery-v0.3.2.7-DoctorWFix
it's work, but i can't read pkg......
My problem is all tutorial use Pkg e phone can't read it
I would like restore it, it's possible? how?
bye
Lele
you cant install pkgs with streakmod, only a stock recovery can install those
if fastboot is working
use fastboot or recovery flasher, and push the stock recovery to your phone, then you should be able to install the .pkg
or just put streakdroid on your sd card and install it using the recovery you already have installed
That's right , StreakMod or ClockWork cannot flash stock rom . Only Stock Recovery can flash Stock rom a.k.a Update.pkg.
Go to fastboot and then flash stock recovery that you want (depend stock rom you have to flash). Her is the L I N K that you can download stock rom and recovery image.
And for root , use this L I N K.
Maybe ... this can help your problem
Ok, guys tonight I will try thanks for all
Bye lele
Now it work,
Download this zip file which contains a recovery for downgrading here.
Move the recovery.img file to wherever your fastboot.exe is.
Put your Streak into fastboot mode ( camera + power ).
Open up command line type: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.stock.new.img
Once it says it's done writing type: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot in command line.
Download Official 1.6 (6267 Build) from http://www.mediafire.com/?nib62786hjj93x4.
Rename the file to Update.pkg and copy it to the root of your SD Card.
Dowload this file and put it on the root of your SD Card.
Download this file and unzip it to your SD Card
Root it's ok but can i know if I really allowed root?
Question:
How can I have stock rom and recovery image both? or must I choose one of them?
bye
Lele
lele, that is good news, remember stay away from cyanogenmod, it is not ready for use on the Streak. If you want custom ROM go with 1.9.0 with either 351 or 353 BaseBand. Or you can wait till 2.0.0 is bit more stable and go with it.
Ok i will try it in this days.
About my question?
(How can I have stock rom and recovery image both? or must I choose them
)
Thanks
Assuming you can fastboot again, very simple use MultiRecoveryFlasher at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000455.
If you have can't get to work, like me one of the very few that it just doesn't work. You can go to TheManii's web page, http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/. Download recovery img for version you want and dowload that version for example go here, http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/354/, download recovery.img. Than go parent page and download Streak_354_15881_11.pkg.
Once you have the pkg, rename Update.pkg and move to root of SD card. Reboot into fastboot mode, flash recovery.img. Once complete reboot while holding volume up and volume down buttons. That will take you to Dell update menu. At that point just push the camera button and let it go, will be in 354 when you start up.
Will be in Chinesse if I remember right, no big deal, just click on box on lower right of the screen and select your language. Or you can go with 351, 353 or what ever version TheManii has on that page that has a recovery img.
So, I just a Streak today. I'm having a heck of a time getting the thing rooted with CWM. Basically I want someone to help a Streak N00b get StreakDroid running. If you want, you can help me via gtalk.
Thanks.

Just posted this in the wrong section. Sorry! mods can you move it to Q&A?
Root with Gingerbreak
Use StreakMod Recovery, not CWM.
If you are installing a Streakdroid ROM they are pre-rooted.
Reading list:
Radimus’s Universal Guide to Flashing a ROM
Using StreakMod Recovery
Custom Recovery – Prevent Overwriting on Dell Streak
Lots of Streak links in my signature.

How do I install gingerbreak? I can't enable non-market apps.
Or, do I need to root? Can I just go on to StreakMod since the StreakDroid roms are pre-rooted?
Edit: Ok, I think I got it. But, when I run "fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img" do I do it with the streak in Fastboot mode? or booted up with debugging enabled?
So I did fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img with the device powered up and it's stuck on waiting for device. Help?
Got it! Thanks to the amazing links in marvin02's sig. Thanks man!
I followed these steps from streakdroid 1.9 to 2.3:
flashed AMSS with fastboot.
fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
Flashed DSP1

fastboot -i 0x413c flash dsp1 dsp1.mbn

Both amss and DSP1 downloaded from the mainpage of XDA
Booted into recovery mode did a factory reset from dell menu. But when I try to install gingerstreak located at the root of the sdcard I get the dreaded assert failed error
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/GS2_3beta2.zip
(Status 7)

I am though able to install streakdroid 2.0 without any problems. But I get too many random reboots with it. The base band shows to be
GAUSB1A140314-US
KERNEL 2.6.35.7-PERF
Is there a way to find out the AMSS version
Do I need to change the sequence DSP1 first then AMSS or something?
What am I doing wrong here. Please help
TIA

You may have something out of sync... first of all no need to root separately because the ROM comes rooted
I would flash stock ROM 360 recovery and then the ROM to get e erything back in sync
Once you have let the stock ROM maybe boot a couple times go into fastboot and flash the amss and the dsp1files and then let it boot a couple more times
Fastboot again and flash Streakmod and then boot into recovery and flash your custom ROM
This procedure is what has worked for me... hope it helps you out

Thanks for the reply cdzo72 but where do I find the 2.2 stock rom for the streak? The problem now I have is that the phone does not recognize my SIM card, probably the baseband mess up or the dsp1. The previous baseband file was GAUSB1A140314-US I was able to find the 315 baseband file but got the same error of simcard not found. Is there a 314 baseband file?

That's the link for the Dell Streak Wiki where you will find all the info you need. I would update to the latest retail 360 ROM which will update all your phone's files.
i found a way around the dreaded
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img". "boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/GS2_3beta2.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
i was running froyo 2.2 and had to downgrade to 2.1 to be able to root and install modding apps such as streakmod, i followed all of the proper steps to install streakdroid. and i got the same error, so i went back and i made a copy of the "boot.img" from the zip. copied it to my c:/streak folder and flashed the "boot.img" before i installed the rom. then installed the rom. you still get the install error. shutdown the device disconnect battery then reboot the device and the rom is installed. it unpacks everything except the boot.img but since its already been flashed it'll boot. i've been running the beta version for 3 weeks now and no hangups or random reboots. *do this at your own risk* i didnt think it would work and i havent seen anyone else try this. i wont be held responsible if you brick. i might have just gotten lucky. but it did work for me. and its very stable on my streak5
