I've had a couple of units (I had to return the first unit because of a possible 'dust under the screen'-issue). But the first unit that I had, and that I returned, was quicker overall, especially on the screen rotation. It was especially noticeable when sliding out the keyboard from the home screen and then press '1' in the popup launch menu: whereas my first unit would launch the SMS app almost instantly with no spinning wheel, my current unit brings up the spinning wheel and takes about 2-3 sec before opening the SMS app.
I did some investigating and pinned down the problem to the screen rotation: it doesn't launch the SMS until it has finished rotating the screen, and since the rotation is slower overall, it brings up the spinning wheel.
My first unit blew me away overall with its speed. My second unit is generally quick, but that's it. I've also read at least one review stating that his phone was very slow, as if the CPU was constantly working.
FWIW, my ROM version is 1.14.402.0 (unfortunately I didn't check this on my first unit), and the radio version is 0.24.30.24.
So how quick are your phones, especially on the screen rotation and opening up the SMS app from the quick launch menu?
mine is 1.14.407.1
The phone is very fast switching between V to H (if there are no application running) and it takes ~2 sec to enter sms
switching between H to V is slower...
You have a slightly newer ROM.
Anyone else who cares to share their what ROM version they're running?
My ROM is 1.14.401.1. I notice short lag when switching between landscape and portrait, but it's short enough to not bother me.
My rom is 1.14.404.0. Works perfect, no lags in menus.
Anyone problems with the gps? Mine doesn't get a fix. Resetted three times to factory defaults and now working. Hopefully it stays working

No problem with the GPS. On the contrary it gets a fix within seconds even indoors. Might be an issue with nav-software (I use Garmin XT).
I edited my home screen by removing the missed calls (you get the missed call icon in the status bar anyway), mail (don't use it), getting started, and the weather app (quite useless given that it doesn't show the current weather on the home screen), hoping for a speed improvement in the screen rotation. Now it's subjectively a little faster, not by much but enough to make it worthwhile.
For those who are still getting home screen flickering after .14 update and thinking it's a random thing, here's how to reproduce the problem regardless of docking or performance mode:
1. Go to the home screen (you should have a decent amount of apps, widgets and folders on it).
2. Bring up something that overlays the home screen. This includes:
a. Recent Apps on the left
b. ASUS (or Android) Quick Setting on the lower right
c. Mouse cursor (arrow or circle)
(Opened folders don't seem to trigger the problem.)
3. Keep the overlay on the screen and wait. Within 10 seconds you should see a big black triangle on the lower left of the screen flickering. It takes longer for the flickering to appear for the first time, but afterwards you almost always see it after a few seconds.
4. Once the overlay is gone (for the mouse cursor, just wait about 10 seconds and the cursor will disappear automatically), the flickering will not occur regardless of how long you wait!
Hopefully this issue can be addressed in the next update!! It's starting to annoy me.
P.S. The home screen will also show some very occasional black or white horizontal lines flickering. Now I think this one is truly random. Usually you need to stare at the screen for a long time to see it.
** UPDATE **
As I've mentioned in the reply, I've discovered that having News and Weather widget in the screen on either side of the center Home Screen (but not on the center screen itself) will increase the chance of reproducibility. Also, having a lot of widgets and apps on the home screen will also do it. Having more than 7 or 8 apps in Recent Apps will definitely do it.
I have the triangle thing too but only if I have a couple of apps (enough that I can scroll the list) open.
I can't recreate it but I have seen it before
You also get some 'flickering' when you have SD card mounted and some other app is updating an ongoing notification.
It seems to forget it's place and the ordering of the notifications jump around.
Same Bug here...
i can recreate it using texttab and pressing any overlay item. its irritating
I get this bug as well in .14. I don't remember seeing it in previous ICS builds (.11 or .13), but I wasn't exactly looking for it either.
I used to get this just when it was charging in the dock... now its worse.
I've found that swiping away a few apps from the recent item overlay fixes things for me whenever it happens. It's annoying though
Yes I had this issue as well but I did a Factory Reset and re-installed my apps last night and cannot reproduce this problem now. Anyone else?
I've had this bug in every build except the current one. Seems gone for me. Only problem I've (luckily) seen with my Prime.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Before upgrading to ICS I didn't see the screen flicker at all, but now that I've upgraded I see it all the time when I use a live wallpaper
Mine occurs with use youtube & thumb keyboard
Open youtube app, quickly in the search bar, and as the keyboard and the video loads in the background it'll flicker
also as you type

Yes I finally gave in and did a complete data wipe. Initially the problem went away as expected (because the Home screens were mostly empty after the factory reset). After all the apps and Home screen states were restored, the problem came back as before, completely reproducible.
So this got me thinking: perhaps it was one of the widgets, or too many widgets/folders/apps on the home screen that's causing this flickering. I finally narrowed down to just one: the stock News and Weather widget. As long as this widget is on either side of the center home screen (but not on the center home screen itself), the flickering will appear, completely reproducible! Since this widget is not really functioning properly under ICS (no setup screen) so no lost there.
Oh, and that more-than-7-or-8-apps-in-Recent-Apps thing will also produce flickering regardless of anything, but only when you first open it up. Otherwise it works the same as other overlays if other conditions are met.
Now I have to go restore about 20GB of stuff. Factor reset wiped it all clean. The thing is, I could've figured all this out without the factory reset. Oh well.
OP has been updated.

The News and Weather made no difference for me, but the number of items in Recent Apps did. Swiping items out of the list made the triangle flicker disappear from the home screen and from within other apps.
This bug only popped up for me once the jitter came back for me - any and all overlays (including the bottom bar, notification popup, and a couple monitoring apps) constantly move up and down a few pixels. I can't capture on my cell phone because the frame rate is apparently in sync, but this video from another poster here shows it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIO2LBMG-dc&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I really hope Gary and Asus will address this issue shortly.
I sometimes have a flickering and screen freeze during games like Reckless Racing 2 or some other too. A workaround is to go back to homescreen then and close the app where it happened.
Not sure if it's the same problem you guys are talking about.
Got still the 9.4.2.11 build here in germany. This never happened to me in the last weeks, but since 2 or 3 days I got it a few times while running games (without the dock).
The .14 update has greatly reduced this issue for me, but there is still a very brief flicker when showing the recent apps menu if there are a lot of apps in it
same problem
I always had this problem. I did factory reset once and the problem remained. After the .14 update, i still have the problem. Really really really want to have the problem solved..But thank you so much for telling me how to reproduce the problem
can't reproduce it either, but i still experience it once in a while. a minor bug, but still among a long list
First day using it.
I did the calibration in recovery after noticing some weird issues while organizing my icons which made it impossible.
- drag and dropping wasn't working as the drag would open the application or drop the icon while dragging. After disabling the multi window it seemed much better. Also seemed to be that using more than just the tip of my finger helped (covering the entire icon with the flat of my finger).
- but I was really disappointed when I loaded up my clash of clans game and noticed it was lagging horribly trying to display the animation of my base. It looked to stutter constantly and I was unable to drag and rearrange my base. Even clicking into a building seemed to not register properly after multiple times to try and get the info menu up.
Pinch and zoom on the base hardly registered. Took multiple tries to get it to work. Sometimes it would end up selecting an object near where my fingers were.
I tried my rss reading app. While using my finger to scroll the titles it would register my movement as clicking an article. I have turned off all gesture features.
What's shocking is that my LG F series phone did not have graphics or multipoint issues for a $100 phone. Sure the processor was slower and took longer to load...
So is what I'm seeing normal.? I'm on
Nubia ui - 2.50
Build - cnunicom_4.00
Kernel - 3.4.0
I have a slight suspicion that the screen touch and drag issues could possibly be related to the data usage overlay that constantly is on top of everything and reporting every byte in/out. . I am going to try and uninstall it once I can run a backup for it.
No one else has had screen touch/drag issues?
Build: nx505h_cnunicom_v4.00
Hardware: nx505hmb_b
I recently unlocked my phone to find that the screen split into 4. horrible static and bottom half looked completely ruined. The touch was working as expected only the display was split into four parts. I had to figure out where each option would be and switch my phone off. Problem goes away on restart. occurred twice.
Recently updated to nougat.... But mostly it can't be a problem with the update cause I found someone on another forum who has the similar problem a year ago and I quote his description, - - - - - " just experienced my first issue with mine. I pressed the home button to light the display to check the time, the display was corrupt! I didn't have anything to take a photo of it but I'll explain it to the best I can. The display was split into 4 sections, each section was showing what the lockscreen should show usually. But the lower 2 sections had a lot of distortion, like old static tv's. This bled up into the upper 2 sections as well. I went to snap a photo but the display went off before I could. Did the same again and it was back to normal."-----
1 year ago I had encoutered this bug for the first time. The second time it appeared I recorded it here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFK_hT80Re8
What caused such a strange bug?
Disable AOD
I noticed on the S6 Edge if you enable AOD (from the s7 firmware) it'll glitch like that, my advice would be to disable AOD.
Recently am noticing that when I connect my huwai mate 20 pro to my sync 2(ford endeavour)* the whole application is pushed down to 0.5 inch and there is a white bar on that place...i can see all android buttons but* inside region is pushed down. It seems like the notification area is consuming that white space. When I remove and add the app it works for some time, but again it goes back to the old stage.. The problem is the apps like Google maps are pushed down, also even in night the white bar is highly visible and its a distraction.
I had that white bar last week.
Today I didn't have it, I'm not sure what triggers it...
I only had it in home menu, not apps.
I have the same problem. Started yesterday. Shifts my whole screen down by the height of the notification bar. It's very annoying, and there's no way of removing it.
Yesterday it popped up by itself, but was concentrating on the road to even realise when that was. Hope this is resolved soon.
try to let the flip-cover open... worked for me.
