[Q] Does G1 support micro SDHC 8Gb? - G1 Accessories

Hello,
Do you know whether HTC G1/Dream could support an micro SDHC card of 8GB?
According with HTC support team the G1 supports micro SDHC of 2 or 4 GB, the say it could support 8 GB too, but I have to test it first before. So I would like to know whether someone of you have tried this card.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, HTC G1/Dream supports 8Gb microSD cards. Recently i`ve bought one, and it is working in my device - so buy it without fear))
The only thing to pay attention to is a microSD class - the more the better. These are 2 class, 4 class, 6 and so one. As for me, i have a 6 class Kingston microSD.

yes but only up to 8gb and nothing higher

nah coz i got a g1 one and a 16 gb micro sd in it but mine is rooted
dno if that makes a difference

Maximum of 32GB but a 16GB is cheaper and plenty for most people.

I use minisd 8gb class 6 .verry fast ................

My G1 is using a 16 Gb class 6 card, its pretty fast with a2ext
Sent from my T-Mobile G1 using xda premium

I'm using a 16gb microSd card. So the G1 supported up to 32gb.
But in my opinion 16 gb are enough(music+pics). I have a class 10 card and its running very fast.

WORKING
yUP it Support upto 8gb bu internalz very low

A 16GB micro SDHC definitely didn't work on my old one but a 8 possibly would..

A 32gb card works on mine.

[Q] MicroSD Class good enough?

Hello,
I recently bought an 8GB microSD, class 4 (it's all I can afford ). Tested it for write speeds (output is 6.2MB/s). I assume I'm not gypped or something and I got the real deal (bought it at a computer store). I was wondering if this is good enough for the x10 mini pro if ever app2sd works.
Also I would like to know what capacity/class your microSDs are (for statistical purposes)
Thanks!
Are you sure 6Mb /s ? then its class 6 ... I have a 2GB .... yes app2SD will work

I thought I can put a whole offline wikipedia in it. Turns out the whole English DB is 6 gigs... Not enough space left for music and pictures and maps...

I haven't tested yet (I already gave it away)
But I think it's class 4 or class 6. It can't be class 2 because it's waaay faster than 2mbps.

Hello, could you post screenshot of Settings -> SD-card and telephone memory so we get an idea of the total space. Also, are you using the mini or the mini pro, though I don't think this will make a difference. Thanks

I have the original 2GB with me. i researched it and i think its Class 4 Kingston.
Micro SDs have Class 2 to Class 10 (Class 10 as the highest, having minimum of 10mbps speed, 16GB and 32GB I think).
I've read somewhere that its recommended to have Class 10 MicroSD if you'll be using Apps2sd. but if your 8GB works fine, thats cool.
I dont want to root my phone so no Apps2sd for me though i really really need more space in my internal storage now.
Im hoping the rumors are true that X10 mini and mini pro (and of course, the big x10) would get Froyo updates on 2011. I think Froyo natively allows installation of apps in SD right?
I bought my 16GB mSD class2 2009 for my Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia.
Dropped and ruined the Omnia in a puddle of water in the spring of 2010. But both SIM-card and the 16GB memory card survived the water even if the Omnia didn't
Still using the 16GB card for both photos and music as well as for a few movies in the X10 Mini.
I don't know why a class2 that shouldn't read or write more than 2MB/s does both well over it's 2 MB/s limits in the computer.
The SIM-card was destroyed this January as my contract with Telenor expired.

[Q] Micro SDHC 32GB

Did anyone tried Micro SDHC 32GB card with X10 after 2.1 Eclare Update?
I asked Sony Ericsson support about 32GB SD card support after 2.1 but they did not give me a satisfactory answer and according to them only 16GB SD card works on X10.

I bought (on my own risk) a micro SD HC-4 32 Gb Kingston one month ago (on 1.6 Donut) Now i have Eclair 2.1 on my Xperia X10 and the SD card 32 Gb works well.
I haven't any problems during this time.

the class reprezents the speed of your memory card
I bought a 32GB Kingston Class 4 and it keeps unmounting itself and overall lose contact with the phone but it works perfect in he PC.
I have done a 32GB filer verification so it's not a counterfeit 8GB in a 32GB disguise.
But I keep having trouble with it once it's in the phone.
It's a HTC Legend with BlaYo ROM
I have exactly the same micro SDHC (32 CB class4 Kingston) in a XPERIA X10 and it functions perfect. Try format with MiniToolPartitionWizard under Windows. Success!
I'm using a 16GB Class 10. Transferring songs are plainly drag and drop.
If you opt for speed over capacity, go for 16GB C10 instead. I'm using the Transcend one at 14MB/s writing speed. (priced at 33USD)
Well uh, why do you need 32GB for a phone?
what a question ))

Sorry for going offtopic, but I don't want to start a new thread, I was thinking of buying a Transcend 16gb class 10 card.

I'm using one Transcend 16gb class 10 card, i can tell some things:
On the usb adapter it can WRITE at up to 16~20MB on linear writing and READ up to 22~25MB on linear reading.
This cards rocks, i had a sandisk 8gb class 6 mSD and will never regret this change.
This time i can get real HD recordings as before i would sometimes give me some small breaks when recording if for some reason anything tried to access the card at the same time.
By the way most class 6 cards record actually between 4~6MB!

[Q] 32 GB SDHC card for Galaxy Ace

Hello everyone.
Do any of you use a 32GB sized SDHC card in your Ace? I know it's supposed to support it, but I'd love to hear your experiences.
BTW: Which brand of SDHC cards do you recommend? I'm planning to buy a class 10 card with at least 16GB space this week, and I'd appreciate your input.

I would prioritise Class rating over size anytime especially when you talk about capacity over 8GB.

Yeah, I wrote in my OP, that I'm gonna buy a class 10, as high read/write speeds are what I'm after, followed by a decent size(at least 8GB).

Gotta go with Sandisk as well.
Tried Transcend, PNY and Kingston cards of 4-16G capacities and c6-8 speeds and they're all handily beaten by my Sandisk cards so far as stability.

It is speed. Sandisk has the fastest random write speed which is what seems to cause those lock ups. SD card class is just measures one (relatively unimportant) indicator of SD card "speed" (sustained read).
Sustained read and write are great if you're using your card to backup large media or picture files but more or less worthless for running an operating system. Same principle is in place for SSD. Manufactures advertise sustained transfer rates but the important stat for a OS drive is access time (which determines the speed of random read/writes).
Here's a link to a 32gb sandisk for $30 http://slickdeals.net/da/mem-i/p46847290/k4569/u125110/r4
These work just as well as the 16gb ones.

32gb is theoretically the maximum, since 64gb cards will all be part of the new SDXD standard. Then again, several people have found that the 64gb SDXC cards work in their SDHC devices so we'll just have to wait until someone tests one in the nook color to know for sure if it'll support it (I wouldn't hold your breath, our hardware is fairly old).
I can certify that the 32gb works fine, as can numerous others who I've seen post.

Help with microsd

Hi
Can i use a normal 32gb microsd instead of microsdhc class 10?
because here in indonesia 32gb is not a ready stock item, and once i order it there will be no refund if the microsd is not working
I put a 32 gb class 4 in mine and it works fine.
The only time I ever had any trouble with using a class 4 card is when I tried to use it in a 3d high definition video camera. It couldn't keep up with the data writing.
A normal class 4 should be all you need.

The only difference between MicroSD and MicroSDHC is the capacity. Any card with capacity 4GB or higher is by definition HC (high capacity). Less than 4GB is "standard" MicroSD.
Any card Class 4 or higher should be fine, up to capacity 32 GB. Above 32 GB is SDXC, which I do not think is officially supported by our device, and you may not be able to access the storage > 32 GB anyway. Many Android devices have been shown to work with SDXC (and access full capacity), but its not guaranteed.
