Hey guys Zoid here,
This has actually been an ongoing thing for me but after constant searching I have hit a wall . About a week after I bought my Archos 101, the speaker on the thicker side (with all the ports) went out. It first started to crackle a bit then it just gave out... Now I didn't strain it with obnoxiously loud sounds or anything, this was just normal use. A week later after constant attempts to contact Archos, I found out that I have no warranty because I bought it from an "untrusted seller" at Amazon. Even though It was still in the plastic when I got it, but that's another note. The question I want to ask (the question in question I guess) is since I cannot send this back does anyone know where I can get a replacement speaker myself? I'm pretty tech saavy and I can install it myself even if it's from a broken A101. Since apparently I have no warranty I don't mind opening it up... Any suggestions?
Hello,
If u don´t worry about opening it, then do it and you can check the cable first.
same to you
my archos 101 speaker dameged olso, and i find smiler buzzer and i changed my self, now it is working well
I've opened it, but everything seems to be in working order. The speakers aren't blown either... I'm pretty sure replacing it would fix it of course. Anyone know where to get spare parts?
Sent from my Evo 4g using XDA-app
I would open it up, look on the speaker for a part number or model number and then trust in the awesome power of Google to find an exact replacement.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.... @Kakkuk where did you find a replacement?
***Edit** Nvm, I found it on Ebay... $32.00 from Hong Kong
Just received the speakers... now to do a little soldering. Ok these actually look like better quality speakers than the originals!

Let us know how it worked!
**update
The new speakers sound like a dream! If anyone needs new speakers I recommend this guy I got em from on ebay. They're even better quality than the originals!!

How big is the diameter of the speaker? I would replace them with x-mini max 2 speakers, but their diameter is 40mm.

My wife would like to use her Koss headset instead of the crappy stuff that comes with the unit. Is there an adapter that works like the 2.5 minijack to microphone + 3.5 minijack adapters that I have for my Atom? And please, don't even mention bluetooth! The headsets are nowhere near sounding as good as a cabled Koss yet, at least not within the price range we can afford!
Google is your friend.... this is a bit heavy on the DIY side but the principle looks solid.
http://www.4winmobile.com/tutorial-replace-hermes-headset-connector-with-35mm-socket-vt3146.html
I took the diy route, while it looks intimidating it's really very simple. Had my new headset adapter up an running in about 15 minutes.
Or a little less polite said: www.justfuckinggoogleit.com And yeah, I have thought about doing that, but the problem is that it won't be useful as a handsfree, and I would need something that does that. But I may try anyway, by cutting the plug of one of my XDA Atom 2.5 inch minijack to microphone + 3.5 inch plug units and soldering it to the thing. I just need to find out what cable to use for microphone, but that shouldn't be difficult. I was just hoping that there would be a ready made solution like the one I use for my Atom, from my eBay friend on netime in Hong Kong (no economical cooperation, I'm just a very satisfied customer). Look at item 320087044758, that's the one I use.
Another weird thing about that: I can get a similar item in Norway, and it may actually arrive 2-3 days sooner (usually not more). But it will cost me close to ten times as much! Talk about getting paid through the nose...or whatever orifice they put their money in.
Oh, not to be snotty, but I think my time will probably be closer to 5 than 15 minutes! I have all the equipment they mention, only in better versions, and I do know my way around a soldering iron. It does have it's perks to have an electronics engineer as a brother! He works in software now, but you should see his home workshop! The old stuff he gives me is probably better than all the hobby stuff you can buy!
Finally I'm glad that guy remembered to have a separate image showing that you need to put the plastic covering of the mini jack plug on first, since that's the number one idiot's mistake. This idiot has done it a few times as well...

You cut above the microphone to attach the jack, and then it can still be a handsfree device.
Yeah, that's an option. Thanks! But the Problem is that the cable will be very long. Anyway, I did it the way I described above, and it took about five minutes.
Hi there....

Re: Help

Pls guys... dont tell me none of you had this issue.....
help me out here ... i really need it .....
Hey,
I got mine sorted.
I bought something very similar to THIS
My one is slightly different. Only has one button on, which isn't going to get used anyway!
The above one would do the same I'd imagine.
Cost me £11 from Best Buys
Works an absolute treat. And sounds much better than my old iPhone.
Just need to run another cable from the adapter to the phone, and away you go!
Hmmm... that is a good solution for this....
But then again i think there was an HTC phone review where i saw this option pop out when u connect anything into the jack... lets see...
As for that .... ya that is a good option...
But lets hope someone comes along for another solution...
Ill have to check if something similar to that Jack is sold here in my country in India...
Thanks for the heads up man... appreciate it
wanted to post this as a seperate thread..also posted it as an answer to another nrelated thread where the question came up..
these are stereo headsets for music and calls...the ear bud options might work for you guys while driving:
I own 3 bluetooth headsets (yes i own every tecky geeky corny cool gadget I can find...usually I just test them out and sell them for a profit on ebay ).
I bought these Samsung SBH600 on woot during a one day sale for 55 bucks (shipping included) and you cant find them anywhere now (sorry...if you wait anywhere between a couple of months to a year woot may have them again..its one sale a day there). They are 30% passive noise canceling and really good quality. Can be used both for music and calls:
http://www.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=14521
These also have a wire for a 3.5 mm jack so you can use for music only if you ran out of juice.
This is the amazon listing in case it ever become available again:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CX03PA/sr=8-2-fkmr1/qid=1286355036/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1286355036&sr=8-2-fkmr1&seller=
For comparable ones you can find the previous model but i cant vouch for those:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SBH500-Bluetooth-Wireless-Headset/dp/B0016I6GUS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=mobile&qid=1294670770&sr=8-1
You will have to check reviews and I do not think those have any noise cancelling properties. I think they also lack the 3.5 mm jack.
i also have the moto rockr headset:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LXR0BW/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=1278548962&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001EKQQ5S&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0D7YT72QD8CD9NMWYTKH
This one is more of a startreky kind of look like a backwords visor. They have earbuds and it hangs behind your head. Good quality and has volume control and answering calls etc. Does not have 3.5 mm jack so bluetooth is your only option or noise cancelling.
Finally I have the very first version of these sony bluetooth headsets which also have a little led display on them. They can connect to more than one device so you could have them connected to your ipod and phone together for example (I think the samsung has that too but I havent tested it out).
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B003DQ1DCM/ref=pd_cp_cps_0
Other options I do not own and cannot vouch for:
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-S305-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B002BH3I9U/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1294671987&sr=1-1
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DRBT101-BLK-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B001QXDSMW/ref=sr_1_8?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1294671987&sr=1-8
hope this helps...its usually the stero headsets which will play music and then answer calls...the ear muff style is good for planes etc..the earbud style for driving and stuff...
Hey guys,
My Dell Streak died on me and I've looked at the Note but it is just too big for me. The Streak was my max and it appears after using a 3.8" Huawei X5 that one handed use is so easy and so much better and user friendly, because of that I've got a couple of questions about the S2. I do want to have a new phone rather sooner than later.
1. Is it okay to buy the phone now or is it better to buy an alternative phone? (I've looked at the s3 but apparently it releases mid 2012 and isn't a quad but a dualcore?)
2. The headset jack. I use Jabra headphones with mic and they worked perfectly in combination with the Dell, my secundairy Palm phone and the iPad. After switching to the Huawei I needed an adapter to use the headset (due to a different wiring) which really annoys me. So the question is: does the phone works properly with headsets that work with i-related products?
3. I've read a lot about the pink spot. I don't care about rooting and overclocking (mainly going to use the phone as a project planner, music, some browsing and navigation). Is it really that bad?
4. Are there any other things, problems or common issues that I need to be aware of before buying this phone?
5. If you use the wall charger is the positive pole of the connector which goed into the phone at the right or the left side?
Thanks very much in advance!
Ruben
edit: 5th Q
1. Great phone buy it now. Will still be a great device for a long time to come.
2. The headset is similar to iPhone. GS1 wasn't but GS2 is.
3. It's pot luck. Pink spot for camera is different for each device but mostly it's there.
4. Pros far outweigh the cons. Read up. Just about every problem I've read about has an easy fix or is only a small portion of devices sold.
5. Don't know about this one.
My opinion is the international version of GS2 is by far the best device I have ever owned. Hands down.
Good luck.

Thanks very much! Tomorrow or monday I'm going to get it
About the 5th question: I suspect for some reason that when the device has a different headset wiring, the wiring of the charger is also different. For example the Huawei x5 has the negative pole on the rightside and the jabra headset cannot be used without the adapter which apparently switches the output. With my other phone the positive is on the right side and it does work with the headset without the adapter.
Its a real hassle to find a new headset which works wells with all devices.
Can only say I have no regrets buying the phone

Hi there, I recently bought an HTC amaze and I love it so far, but I do have one problem. When I use any pair of headphones or 3.5mm jack my music will play out of both sides, but it's much quieter on the right side. I've tested this with many sources and nothing has worked so far. Is this a common problem? I have 30 days to return the phone but I'd really rather not if I don't have to.
Not an issue on my Amaze.
Have you tried different headphones? Or maybe one of you ears is going bad.
Haha... Definitely not my ears. I've tried several headphones and aux cables and none have worked. Guess I'm going to have to return it. I figured it was probably a hardware issue.
Before you do that try using compressed air in the headphones jack to see if there maybe something in there.

That was actually my first guess. It almost looks like it won't go all the way in, but even with tons of force it won't go down any further. Looks like I'll be using bluetooth headphones.

Hi all,
I live in Germany and saw that the local Aldi's (grocery/mini walmart store) had some bluetooth headphones on sale. They were 30 euros so about 35 US dollars. Decided to give them a try since I thought 30 euros wasn't bad. I'm really surprised how good they are. I have LG+ Tone 700 and these are pretty comparable. This also has A2DP and uses bluetooth 4.0. It paired quickly with the note 3 and got it up and running with no hitches. The sound quality is good. I'm going to give them more of a trial run later.
They also charged extremely fast at only 2 hours. Run time it says is about 4 hours but if the recharge time is that small, I don't see a big deal with it being shorter time for the charge to last. They have a 3 year guarantee and it's USB chargeable only but I'm sure you can find an normal adapter if you wanted the wall plug. To charge the headphones, it's kind of funky. It's like a clip to some small prongs. Not a normal microusb charger. The controller on it is pretty small and you need to like mash on the buttons a little but it seems to be alright for normal use. They're really light and have only the headphone wire which I like because the neck loop on the LG sometimes is irritating for me.
Anyhow, thought you all might want to check it out for those who live near an Aldi's in Europe or in Germany. The manufacturer is Maginon, model BTH-100. I think it's probably a no name but I'm not sure of products here.

I'm interested about feed backs. Wanna share? Thanks!
I too had a pair of LG Tone 700, and due to how much I used them, one of the wires to the earbud shorted out. I replaced my set with the LG Tone 730 (the newer model), I gotta say, I love those even more!
I do have to add, however, that as far as I know, the HBS-700 model uses bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, not 4.0. The 730 model uses bluetooth 3.0, which isn't bad, but that's not 4.0. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3-oUPLWaNGNN0p4NEs2OEJkalk/edit?usp=sharing
I do suggest paying the difference and getting the LG HBS 730 instead of the 700. The battery seems to last longer as compared to the 700s I had, and I like that fact that it tells me if the battery is high, medium, or low when I turn it on (as the old set did not do).

Hi all,
Meant to reply to this. I took them out for a longer run. The sound quality is still decent for 30 euros but how far away the phone had to be away from the headphones is not very far. I started getting a little static and some stuttering quality when i had the phone down in my bag. Along with that, when the phone was kind of bumping against me, I was getting gaps in the sound from the headphones and my music. I find this kind of not a good thing. If you want something cheap and just for daily use (no running with them or heavy exercise) and you can keep the phone close, it's not bad. I've gone back to LG tone +700 again. The 730's are too expensive right now in Germany and I don't even see the 800 model yet. I tried also the Delycons because they were 50 euros and i saw decent reviews on Amazon for them and I was disappointed with them. They were similar in style to the 30 euro ones but were suppose to have good sound. I didn't find that. I normally use PowerAmp Player but the bass was so muddy in the Delycons that I had to go to the Google Music player to even out the sounds. That seemed totally wrong to me so I sent them back. I'm going to use the 700's for awhile because I haven't found anything that remotely meets the same specs and sound quality. I just wish it didn't have the neckband. Anyhow, that's just my view.
