This happened to my brother's xperia x10 during update to 2.1:
He tried to do an update to 2.1 via Sony Ericsson PC Companion, but it got to halfway and not further.
Phone was ok when he unplugged it and all working ok etc.
Next day, he downloaded Sony Ericsson Update Service & tried an update from there,
again, it downloaded the software, but could not transfer to the phone.
Since then his phone is basically dead. When the power button is pressed, a short green flash comes from the LED & the usual quick vibration on startup, but thats it.
Nothing else.
Does someone have a solution for this?
There are at least one hundred threads about this..no lie.
Flash mode and seus repair should do the trick..
Tried it, but when the third step comes in 'connecting you phone' (the bit where it says hold 'back' key while connecting, the phone doesn't even react to it and SEUS keeps searching for it.
I have the same problem and i have tried almost everything, Unbrick tools, 0.2.6 flash tool almost every firmware and still the same condition. Some green blinks and vibrates nothing more. Please somebody could come with a helping hand here.

Check SEMC drivers that could be, or cable integrity.

hi can someone please help i tried to flash my xperia x10 mini and failed badly and now when i turn on my phone the logo screen comes up and then just stays on... ive left it for about 20 minutes but still nothing its like its bricked on the logo screen i can restart it but it just does the same again. Ive also tried taking the battery out putting it back in then using the update service to lock it in flash mode while i use binarys flash kit but that doesnt work either. Also the update service just says no software update is available it thinks i already have the latest one please help i will be truely greatful x
Edit :
Ive already tried SEUS, PC Companion, Binary's Flash Kit.
Ive already tried connecting it to the adb but cant get adb to recognise a connected device and all the drivers are installed.
i guess you have, but i've to ask, have you tried the repair option in SEUS/PC Companion?
yeh i have seus says i already have the latest software version installed and pc companion actually wants me to load my phone up to connect it :/ any ideas? x
me too!!
i had the same problem with you...
how to get shutdown this phone?
phone must be shutdown when i want to flashing from SEUS..
and i don't know how to shutdown this phone because the battery....
edit : just connect your phone and use restart (hold power button & middle button)
after reboot, press back button and you will connect with SEUS...
but, my phone already get latest update...and i can't flashing from SEUS...
sob..
ive been shutting down the phone by taking the back off and unscrewing the inside cover. Then you will see the battery cable where you can simply unplug it from the motherboard and then reinsert it.
Edit: I also have connected to SEUS but it says i already have the latest software
Ive taken it to a local phone repairs shop ive given up... they said it'll be fresh and working by tomorrow morning it cost me £20 but its just one of those things en it :/
hey guys
all you need is to follow the instructions on SEUS,
when it tells you that you have the latest software press repair.
and when it say that you should turn off your phone and then reconnect it while pressing the back buttom do the following:
1- connenct the phone to the computer
2- press the 3 buttoms (power + mid buttom + back buttom) then as your phone restarts and vibrate remove your fingers from the power and mid buttoms but maintain pressing on the vack buttom
i hope this will help
Hi all,
I have a RACHAEL XPeria X10
Type: AAD-3880056-BV CB5
Prototype build: AP1
SI 1228-3677.1K
Last firmware update through the device update app was stuck and afterwards the device wont boot anymore.
I would have tried Flashtool as suggested around here but i can't seem to get into flash mode.
No, i'm not a moron, i tried both the "shut down, press back while connecting USB" and "take out battery, connect USB and press back while placing battery" (exactly as shown on youtube when searching "xperia x10 flash"), but none worked.
I also tried this with all the other existing buttons, but nothing worked!!!
All it does is blink the red light under the USB after connecting it.
Also, when trying to turn on device, the red light triple blinks repeatedly.
Is there any other method (or does prototype device behave differently) that i can put the phone into flash mode?
Is there any other alternative to flashing the device?
Thanks
Same problem
Can anyone help us? i have the same problem, please.
Have you tried PC Companion?
If so then...
Try sony ericsson update service...
http://sony-ericsson-update-service.en.uptodown.com/
If that fails then try wotanserver's flashtool. It free but youve gotta sign up.
http://www.wotanserver.com/en/.
All of these options will take you back to stock and you can start fresh from there.
Good luck
If your phone flashing red lights that suggests the battery dead is it definitely charged?
Edit: prototype phone bit beyond me but will methods of flashing it be the same I'm not sure.

1.Plug your phone to computer, to charge it.
2.When you'll think that your battery is more than 50%, unplug phone from pc. If your phone will be stuck at SE logo(or smth like that), hold "power"+"home" button until you see black screen. Than immediately press and hold "back" button, while plugging it to the pc(or mac). If you see green flashlight and black screen-->congrats, your phone is almost restored. If your phone will have black screen, just hold back button, while plugging it to the pc. Try this 3-4 times, before you'll green flash light and black screen.
3.Restore it using seus, or with Sony Ericsson Pc Companion.
P.S.GingerDX v021b requires unlocked bootloader, and flashed nAa kernel. And if you'll face some problems, pm me

I have the same situation as Eljuan28. I was sort of assuming that the Ginger installer would take care of more than it did. :-(
Reset from a "Sony Ericsson" screen via power + home was in general good information.
It took quite a few tries before I got the green light - you REALLY need to be fast or I'm simply not doing it right. I made is a few times but then it was split second, and afterwards I wasn't sure if I let of of the power toggle and home before pressing the back. Edit: messed with it several additional time, and one trick was to actually have the USB cable in when doing the reset. Got to green right away then.
Some additional questions:
PC Companion says that an X10 Mini is attached. I select repair, acknowledges that all my personal data will be deleted and it progresses for some time. Suddenly, the repair option on the PC Companion aborts with a message that Sony Ericsson upgrade servers are overloaded ... Phone screen is back with Sony Ericsson logo/text, the green light is off.
Tried with SEUS, which stated I was already with the most recent version but allowed me to proceed and go on anyway. I am not allowed to link properly to SEUS as I don't have the sufficient number of posts but a working URL to SEUK is "seuk dot tk" (on ot the XDA members own the domain and post it there).
PS: Wrong thread, but a working GingerDX 017 couldn't just be updated?
BacchusFLT,
You can update from gingerDX 017 up to 021b, if you installed (V017) the nAa kernel version. Just flash kernel and flash new gingerDX 021b. If you have stock kernel's version--> you have to flash kernel, flash gingerDX 021b and full wipe/factory reset.
Sony Ericsson's servers can be overloaded like every other server. To solve this problem, it is necessary to wait some time and try again. Optional you can use SEUS. The screen must be black, while restoring your x10 mini/pro, so if you have Sony Ericsson's logo appeared->it is impossible to restore it. To get correctly to restore mode, you must have switched off phone(watch picture)
Hope it helps.

Dear Mrakoris,
Many thanks for the patience.
First: SEUS did the trick for me. I tried multiple times with some time in between but the Companion complained about overload all the time. SEUS downloaded fine, and I cann't understand why that would work if Companion didn't - the only load on servers would be to fetch the files, and SEUS could fetch it with no problems.
Second: So, reset with the USB cable in and pressing back did work for me, and letting SEUS force install on top of the current installation. Now I am back with vanilla 2.1.1A.0.6, Kernal 2.6.29.
Again, many thanks!
I had this problem long time ago, but it happened because I tried to flash the rom even knowing my baseband was different, so my phone stuck on SE logo and restart in an infinite loop..
Luckly I had Xrecovery installed, so I mounted de SD card, and I can explain how, pc companion recognized the phone and I could restore it to the original rom.
So is a little complicated if u dont have xrecovery or CWM I think...
Hi,
I would like to ask you for advice before throwing my X10 mini away and buying something else.
I have had MiniCM7 installed for a very long time (more than a year), and upgraded to all versions without any problem. Today I installed MiniCM9 3.0.2, but I decided to reinstall MiniCM7 because of some problems detected with this version, so I went to SEUS, downgraded to 2.1.1.A.0.6, installed BusyBox, xMiniRecovery, root and flashed MiniCM7 2.2.0 and gapps. I have done it quite a lot of times before.
But, when I tried to reboot onto MiniCM7 2.2.0, my phone was stuck onto Sony Ericsson logo. Here's what I did:
1) Ok, Home+Power and reenter into recovery by pressing back key. No, no luck, it doesn't enter into any recovery.
2) B plan, I'll go to SEUS again. Home+Power, connect USB and keep back key pressed. Nothing, SEUS doesn't recognize anything, but Companion does activate a little popup on my Windows, as if it detects my phone plugged into my computer. No red, yellow, or green lights in the phone.
3) C plan. Flash kernel directly. I downloaded kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17674938#post17674938 and used FlashTool. But, again, when I press Home+Power, connect the USB cable and press back key, it doesn't recognize anything, FlashTool is waiting for me to connect something. Antivirus is disabled.
If I keep back key pressed, no SE logo appears; black screen. If I release back key for a little while, SE logo appears and it gets stuck.
Both if I connect it to the computer or to the power socket, no green/yellow/red led appears.
Does anybody have any idea? Everything (cable and phone) were working wonderfully before flashing 2.1.1.A.0.6 for the last time.
Kind regards,
Jordi
Ok,before u try this u should know it will delete everything of phone memory:apps, contacts, etc.
And it removes root and recovery and phone will be like the day u bought it except that bootloader is not touched if unlocked stays unlocked
TRY AT UR OWN RISK
Steps:
1-download sony erricsson pc companion
2-click support zone and choose software update
3-before clicking continue click on repair phone
4-wait till loads and choose phone type
5-concentrate on this one cuz it has 2 methods
5a:if ur phone doesent restart automaticlly just plug usb in computer first then with phone powered off hold the back button and connect the usb cable only let hold when it says u can
5b:if ur phone DOES restart automaticlly remove battery till u reach this step and put back cover bedside till ur done with this method what were gonna do is when we reach this step we quickly plug battery and before it restarts just hold back and insert usb cable.
6-wait to install
7-congratulations unbricking
8-(optional):click the thanks button :xD

Hi,
Thank you very much for your quick answer. I had never realized the procedure shown in steps 2-4.
But Companion refuses to install it! "It's impossible to install or setup update components of phone sotfware" grrrrrrrrrrrrr Tomorrow I'll try to get another computer and follow your procedure.
Thank you very much
Always happy to help as ive been in such issues alot

You say you have an X10 Mini, and not an X1O Mini-Pro.
The X10 Mini requires you to run the nAa-kernel in order to run the latest verstion of MiniCM7.
You say you downgraded back to stock firmware and installed MiniCM7 again, did you forget about the kernel?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhh you are right!!!!!!! I have installed kernels and versions a lot of times on my device, and I was so confident of myself that this time I didn't realize I was missing one of the most important steps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So stupid of me.......!!!!!!!
I've tried PC Companion as suggested before, but no way: it doesn't detect the "flash mode" at boot time. I keep pressing Back key and I only get a black screen; when I release Back key, SE logo appears and gets stuck forever. It doesn't matter if I try SEUS, PCCompanion or FlashTool, it's always the same. I can't shut it down, just restart over and over again via Home+Power.
Does anybody know what can I do?
Kind regards,
Jordi

Only thing i can think off is to press home-power-back at the same time and release home and power when the screen goes black, all this with the phone connected to the pc via usb, but i'm not sure if that will work.

I do not know what did I do, but by trying for the 1000th time to do the Home+Power+Back key combination with USB connected and keeping Back key pressed, and pressing and releasing it madly afterwards, while FlashTool was waiting for me to flash MiniCM7, FlashTool has reacted!!!!!! It allowed me to install MiniCM7 again!!!
What happened? I do not know, perhaps I pressed Back key just the microsecond that the hardware needed it.
Thank you very much!!!!
hahaha, cool And here i was thinking you were trying to flash the kernel, lol
But good luck

Hello,
I was so enthousiastic about the MM update that I didnt realize I was flashing the Z4 Table MM ftf to the Z5 compact. ****!! Now my phone seems to be dead. No vibrating, no lights no matter what I do.
I try to flash the correct ROM with Flashtool, but it doesn't recognize the device.
In device manager, the phone is not recognized "Unknown USB device, attempt for device descript failed" (if I translate correctly).
Is there something I can do?
Open flashtool. Select the firmware you want. And press on flash. Once flashtool prompts you, ONLY THEN you connect your phone while holding the power down button

Unfortunately it didn't work. I read in some other thread that battery has to die for the memory to reset, then recharge and flash. So I am waiting for this to happen... hope it's working.

If you're stuck on the Sony logo screen hold volume up and power to hard boot, there is no need to let the battery drain.
Download a fresh mm .ftf, load up flash tool and prepare files(exclude nothing), wait for flash mode prompt then plug in device while holding volume down(do not let go until it stays solid). It takes a long time to flash, you'll probably think it's stuck at times.

I got back from work and no miracle happened. Phone is still dead. The screen is black. When i put it to charger or pc, no led is blinking. When I do hard reset (with little buttin next to sim tray) nothing happens. When I attempt to reset with power button + volume up nothing happens, no vibration.
I tried repair with Sony Companion, it does not recognize the phone. Windows first recognized the device as some generic, then on second and following attempts reports a malfunctionion USB device.
Have I destroyed my phone??? I never unlocked the bootloader or even unrooted. How could I destroy vital parts of the system? Isn't there some low level something there that still should enable me to flash another rom? How can I get to this part?
I feel a bit devastated now. I actually never realized flashing had this danger (if bootloader locked ...)

try reinstalling your drivers also when you connect your phone to the charger do u get a charging light ?
did you try a different USB cable, i saw it hapen that crappy USB cables gives a bad flash, or doesn't recognize the device
If you really don't find any other solution, bring it to the Sony repair center/the shop you bought from and tell that it was updating to Marshmallow but after the restart, the phone was dead.
I highly doubt your phone will work again in the current state you've left it in.
I've flashed a boot.img from another device to see what happens, the phone just vibrates and turns back off. Can easily recover by flashing the correct boot.img, so it looks like yours is damaged at a lower level.
I assume the bootloader tried to update itself with files from the wrong device instead of checking.
Good Luck.

Thanks everyone for the support. I didn't have a chance to report back earlier due to work. I want to describe everything as good as possible, so maybe other people having the same problem later on can refer to this thread.
When I put in the charger, no LED is turning on.
I tried a different computer (win7), installed flashtool and then ALL drivers included with flashtool drivers. No help.
I left the charger on for many hours, the previous night I also tried what is referred to as the "rubber trick". Nothing.
I looked at several threads, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/hard-bricked-power-to-flash-mode-t3004020, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/help/help-bricked-z2-t3052671, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/dead-m2-recognized-somc-flash-device-t3304758. As far as I can see none of the people who encountered similar symptons have reported back solving it other then sending it to Sony repair.
I contacted Sony support, they asked me to charge it, attempt Sony Companion repair. Of course it doesn't help. So I contact them again tomorrow (indeed telling after MM upgrade it didn't start) and then send it to them.
I just don't understand how this could have been happened, seeing what celderic reports. Is it even related to me flashing the wrong ftf, or could it also happen even likely while flashing the good ftf?
Is flashing ftf's even save? If not, maybe we should warn people more about it. (I always assumed as long as you don't root / unlock bootloader nothing can really go wrong, cause the important parts I am never allowed to touch).
Ironic, I was so impatient for FINALLY getting a working, performing phone, boy, did I prolong my wait. It is really ridiculous Sony could sell us this piece of crap that is slower than my old Blackberry Z10 and make us bear it for so long, and then suddenly they are able to turn it into a superblazer. Should have been like this right from the beginning.
How long did you press the reset button? I had a similar situation with my Z1C a few days ago. Misclicked without realizing it and flashed a wrong rom. Out of frustration and because I was talking to somebody I pressed a paperclip against the reset button for about a minute. At that point the phone did vibrate, went blank again and I could put it in flash mode.
Hm .. I pressed it long, but probably not a minute long. Can't try again though, phone is on its way to repair center.
By the way, someone asked, I used original Sony cable.
Got my phone back working today. Very good support from Sony!! Only took 5 working days. (I'm in the Netherlands)
