[MOD] EB01 / stock deodexed / long press search using Google Voice search - Fascinate Android Development

This fixes long press on the search button to launch Google Voice search.
This is based on the EB01 stock deodexed ROM. (This replaces /system/framework/android.policy.jar ... not sure if themes use this file.)

You mind posting the edit??

Any way this could be incorporated into the accurate bat. and power options with AOSP lockscreen. Seems to have messed them up but the search does indeed go to google now. would be awesome to have both

Decompile android.policy.jar. In PhoneWindow.smali, change ...
const-string v9, "com.microsoft.mobileexperience.bing.VOICE"
... to ...
const-string v9, "android.intent.action.SEARCH_LONG_PRESS"
... and rebuild.
See this thread for an ASOP lock / power options / accurate battery version -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951561

Thank you for this!

Thanks for this bro. I edited the android.policy.jar for the puzzle lockscreen to also include reboot and accurate battery mods (actually the only thing affected by the policy is the reboot options). I did this so that I could include it with my theme which has a themed puzzle lockscreen as an option. Here is a flashable zip with the edits. Feel free to post in the OP if you want.
Note, I only zipped the android.policy.jar. I did not included the services.jar or the framework-res.apk (which are necessary for the reboot options and accurate battery) so that one can simply flash this over their theme. All themes use different .png's for the acc batt and reboot mods. For it to work properly, the theme one flashes this over must have reboot options. Flash the other zip in the OP if you are running stock or your theme does not include reboot options.

[ROM] RMG-ROM - AOSP (Android 2.2.1) w/ Apps2SD, Trackball Alert, Wake, Blackbar

This AOSP-based ROM comes from the latest froyo branch (2.2.1). I have it rooted with adb remount support and have included the following modest list of improvements:
Rotary Lockscreen (scrapped from CM6) (FINAL version only)
Battery % mod
lilh3rmit's Trackball Alert support
DarkTremor Apps2SD (a2sd and FINAL versions)
Boombuler's AppWidgetPicker
zipaligned and deodexed
busybox, bash, and nano included
Black status bar w/ white text and updated icons (from sense ui) (from formel-lms)
Stock "X" boot animation
HUGE apn list
Trackball Wake (cyanogenmod / crimsondr)
"H" icon for HSXPA (cyanogenmod)
Reboot option (incl. recovery and bootloader) via power button (cyanogenmod)
Small changes to boost upload speed and overall performance in build.prop
Some extra wallpapers from CM6.
Installation Instructions:
BACK EVERYTHING UP! Do a nandroid and backup your apps/data, and back up your sdcard if you are using a2sd.
If you don't have the Froyo (32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7) radio installed, flash it. I have also used the "Korean" (5.08) radio with good results. It's up to you.
(a2sd only) From recovery, format your sdcard to include an ext3 partition. I use 512mb, no swap partition. THIS WILL WIPE YOUR SDCARD.
Flash the ROM from the link below.
Flash the Google Apps package. I took them out of the main ROM since they keep being updated.
Sign in to the market to complete setup.
I personally run wildmonks kernel (link) using the "interactive" scheduler. Of course, the stock kernel is included with my ROM.
If you have any problems, please post them here and I will address them as I can. This is my daily use ROM and I have not experienced any issues.

I'll actually be using fromelms desire status bar. Just have to remake a couple things in framework to get the text color right. I'm not a huge fan of metamorph!
Also, the next version will have vm heap size back to default. I don't think it made any difference setting it higher.

Link has been updated. Sorry, but I guess I didn't have any notifications set for this thread. Duh! Will be doing a couple minor fixes. When I merged all the new stuff, it put in duplicates of the Setup Wizard, and Search box. Also, the only locale I have is en_us. Will put the others back in for next release.
Hi RMGeren, this looks like a nice, faily stock ROM and I’d like to try it while I’m waiting for the new Modaco release. I just have a few questions first:
Along with the black status bar, what are the other elements that are "lightly themed"? Can they be reverted?
Which non-stock Google apps are included? Is it possible to remove them?
Can the HUGE apn list be removed?
What are the changes made to build.prop? Can you provide the stock file to revert back to also?
Thanks mate.

Thanks, testing now...
Love to see these simple modded roms.

[UPDATED ROM RELEASE] Zinc V2.1.2 Fascinate Rom (A Deodexed Elements Series Release)

This rom is what I am calling a "zip rom" (non AOSP) Rom with some AOSP Apps. Once again this rom is not a built from source rom (AOSP), it was built from a ota.zip, (hence the phrase "ZIP ROM").*
Most TouchWiz applications have been removed, except the ones kept in order to keep the Rom stable. Apk files have been deodexed, optipng, zipaligned and some apps are built from source. Shutdown animation was changed and a few ringtones were added.
Apps removed:*
A lot!*
Apps were placed in /sdcard/extras/ folder:
Memo.apk
com.androidapps.spare_parts.apk
puzzle_lock.apk
TATLiveWallpapersOceanWave.apk
VoiceRecorder.apk
Thanks to all for the following below:
JT1134 for providing a solid base to work from (Clean D101 Base)
Gallery3d AOSP*
Adwlauncher - Anderweb
Launcher Pro Plus- Federico-http://www.launcherpro.com/
Superuser - Chainsdd
2.1 lockscreen - Wasupwithuman
file manager-Cyanogen
Ported Blackmod theme BY: Stanrc http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/7735-mm-theme-blackmod-for-fascinate/*(for themed version)
And everyone else that made it possible.
This was my first "Zip Rom" since I am a fan of AOSP Roms, I do not have a huge amount of experience making a rom like this (zip rom). I have recently been working on my other Rom named "Cadmium" which is a Droid AOSP Rom. (Completed, but not publicly released yet)*

Or here on our webpage http://www.modadroid.com/showthread.php?t=1
***Version 2.1.2 Change log***
Changed Rom naming convention so it fits the Android OS version. (preparing for Froyo)
Updated boot sound.
Added back default live wallpaper (ocean)
removed some /sdcard/extras
changed to the default mms.apk (for text messaging)
removed quadrant (get it from the market)
Added PowerAMP_1.0_build_68.apk to /sdcard/extras
Boot animation is loaded when using a custom kernel. (Recommend JT1134 or Birdman's latest kernels!) Go to kernel section to get them.
A few more optimizations with the apps apk structure. (deodexed, zipaligned, optipng and what not) saving a little more space..
yeah for flashing! Dl'ing now.

got some more pictures?
Does this have the puzzle/glass unlock screens or the stock one?
It is just deodexed with some aosp apps and blackmod from the fascinate themes section. What is the custom shutdown anim?
is this compatible with the 1.2 boot animation voodoo kernal?
and sorry a noob question,
what exactly is a deoxed, zip rom? what is the main difference between that and a normal aosp rom?
Very slick. Awesome that you kept some of the apps as "extras".
It's nice and quick. Nothing not to like about that.
Thanks!
Uh oh. It tells me the Swype package installed is for a different device and I can't swype, only tap. Why the heck would Swype be removed in the first place?
Thanks for the nice rom. I had to revert back because removing the vicemail breaks the dialer. I always bump the voicemail button in the dialer (even though I use google voice) and with the voicemail app gone the dialer will crash killing the call.
I have tried to restore a deoxed version back in but never get it working. Outside of that it's a great rom. If you stuck voicemail back in or we could remap buttons to google voice like you can in windows mobile it would be perfect for me.

[MOD][STOCK][GB ONLY]14 toggle QP, CRT, & TouchWiz w/landscape! updated 3/22/12[CWM]

[MOD][STOCK][GB ONLY]14 toggle QP, CRT, & TouchWiz w/landscape! updated 3/22/12[CWM]
I'm intending these mods for those of us that like that stock feel to their phones, but want a little something extra.
GINGERBREAD ONLY.
These mods were all done and tested using an
AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-i717 with the stock rom intact,
still odexed except for when mentioned below.
Modded TouchWiz
I've modded the Galaxy Note's TouchWiz to have 6 columns and 7 rows. I've also removed the icon text on the main pages and the launcher.
The app drawer has 6 columns and 6 rows.
TouchWiz30Launcher.apk has been deodexed so the flashable zip will delete TouchWiz30Launcher.odex and replace with a back up.
DAGr8 helped out with getting landscape mode working, so this has been updated with landscape mode now.
To add a sixth app to the dock, go into the app drawer, hit menu, select edit, and drag whatever app you want to add to the dock.
Wipe your dalvik-cache before flashing.
Remember, the revert file is for STOCK ODEXED AT&T. If you're already deodexed, this will not revert your TW launcher, just cause you problems.
If you want to go back to stock, use the revert zip, but remember to first move your icons into a 5x5 area starting in the top left of your screen, otherwise you'll lose them when you go back to the stock TouchWiz. Remove one of the apps from the dock, too, or you'll lose your app draw icon off the screen.
Screenshots below.
CWM flashable zips attached to second post.
14 toggle quickpanel
This is lidroid's 14 toggle quickpanel mod brought to the Galaxy Note using the stock systemui.apk.
This will work on the AT&T SGH-i717 stock, odexed ROM. This is what I have, so this is what it's been tested for. I cannot promise that it will work on any other SGH-i717 variant. If someone tests it out and it works for the other versions, let me know and I'll add it to the post title.
CWM flashable zip for flashing the mod will copy three files to system/app and one file to system/framework.
System/app gets the modded, deodexed SystemUI.apk, a renamed systemui.odex.bak for safekeeping, and the QuickPanelsSettings.apk to customize the toggles. The systemui.odex is removed in favor of the back up.
System/framework gets the lidroid-res.apk.
I've also included a CWM flashable revert to stock. This will delete QuickPanelSettings.apk, lidroid-res.apk, copy the stock systemui.apk, and restore the systemui.odex.
3/10/12: As requested, ICS blue quickpanel added to the second post. Screenshot below.
CWM flashable zips attached to second post.
Known Issue:
lidroid's QuickPanelSettings app isn't scaled for the GNote's awesome screen, so it doesn't fill it. It's completely functional. I'll try fixing this in the future.
Credits:
lidroid for the original mod tutorial
sileshnair for helping me out with the GNote mod
CRT Animation for screen off
AT&T only! Get Telus/Bell here
I've modded the stock framework-res.apk to bring the CRT animation for screen off to the stock ROM.
If you flash the CRT Animation zip, you will lose any UOT kitchen theme or other framework theme you may have already flashed. It is not my fault if you didn't read this before you flash it. There is a revert zip also, but this will take it back to stock, not to any previous themeing you may have done.
CWM flashable zips attached to second post.
Added Blownco's blue battery mod customized with the CRT animation to the second post. All credit goes to Blownco for the blue battery mod.
***Disclaimer: as with any mod, you're flashing at your own risk. I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong with your phone.*** Make a back up before flashing.
GINGERBREAD ONLY.
14Toggle_Mod_for_GNote.zip - flash this for the mod
14Toggle_Mod_for_GNote_ICS.zip - flash this to get your ICS fix
14Toggle_Mod_for_GNote_revert.zip - flash this to revert back to stock
--
***AT&T only*** Get avwuff's Telus/Bell mod here!
CRT animation for GNote.zip - flash for the CRT animation at screen off
CRT animation for GNote_revert.zip - flash to return to stock
N0te-blue-batt_with_crt.zip - this is Blownco's blue battery mod with the CRT animation added
Note: Based on some reports of issues when flashing the ICS blue and CRT animations back to back without rebooting, I would recommend rebooting between mod flashes. To fix, revert to stock and then reflash with reboots in between each mod.
--
Touchwiz_Mod_for_GNote_6x7_landscape.zip - flash this for TouchWiz with 6 columns, 7 rows, no icon text on homescreens. Have a second launcher installed. Thanks to DAGr8 for his help with this.
Touchwiz_Mod_for_GNote_revert.zip - flash this to revert to stock, odexed TouchWiz. Revert for stock, odexed AT&T only!
Flash this mod at your own risk. I would recommend having a second launcher installed so your phone can finish booting if this doesn't work on your phone. And make sure you download the revert file.
Wipe your dalvik-cache before flashing this mod!
--
It's recommended that you download both the mod and revert zips so that you have them available to flash in CWM if you need them.
Always do a back up first!
GINGERBREAD ONLY.
Looks great! This should allow me to clean up my screen even more, thanks for sharing!
Any chance for an ICS blue instead of the green?
Maybe this is a stupid question but will this work for the rom that came on the phone. I noticed you said odexed and I'm not sure if the stock rom out of the box is odexed or not.

I'm not much of a themer, but if someone wants to pick it up and try, I would have no problem adding it to the OP. It might be difficult because lidroid compiled his lidroid-res.apk in an unconventional manner, which is making it difficult for other people to successfully decompile and recompile.

@Messi10
Can you implement in next release of this rom some init.d tweaks, that hafidzduddin have implemented in TWRP kernel zip package? They give me 300 more points in Antutu and made i8160 a bit faster in response. Supressed ROM can be improved with it a bit.
Remember about that tweaks also, when you will be porting JetMOD rom.

I just wanted to say, that those couple of lines are are really good optimizations for i8160 and they can be used in porting all other roms.

Hello, nice job Messi. I have pair of questions about this ROM. Can you tell to me what files are responsible for moded phone app (including contact app), settings (like in ICS) and lockscreen?
"No Part of the ROM is copiable. If you want to...." Yeah, i read this. i prefer to ask in topic (not PM)
I don't really get it, does this simply work with the stock recovery? Also is it possible to make a flashable zip or provide the files for the original samsung keyboard, that i like better?

[THEMES] Dynamic Kat's and NACO's Device default

Hello guys and galls,
I'm a big fan of dark themes, so here you have it, enjoy them!
Please don't ask for Lollipop updates: I rely heavily on Xposed so I'll take a loooong, sweet time before I'll even consider Lollipop - - - :fingers-crossed: - - :crying:
The included themes have been tested on the Canadian Note 4 (SM-N910W8) but they should be working on all Snapdragon variants.
DISCLAIMER:
As always, it is entirely your responsibility. Make a backup before flashing any theme!!!!
INSTALLATION:
Flash the zip file from recovery (TWRP, CWM or similar). Directly pushing the files to system/priv-app will result in the themed apps not to show, at all. You need to flash the package from recovery!!! If you want to keep your original services.jar file, save it before flashing > flash the desired package > reboot > replace the flashed version with the one you saved > reboot. Done!
PREREQUISITES:
KitKat ONLY!!! (no Lollipop suport)
Rooted,
Deodex ONLY!!! (if you know what you're doing, SecSettings.apk and InCallUI.apk (only) also work with odex files.)
Snapdragon variants (no idea whether they would work on Exynos - feedback appreciated).
The contained Contacts file is specific to the US variants (SecContacts_Note_USA.apk). If you're installing the theme on a non-US variant, you have to either delete or append a .bak to the original file (system/priv-app) before flashing the theme - otherwise you'll end up with 2 Contacts files. Furthermore, you don't necessarily have to rename the included Contacts file to match your original - it works as is, but if you prefer to, anyways go ahead, rename it.
GPE Theme was originally created by Brian (bri315317), however the theme was intended to be used within his ROM so in order to make it work independently I have slightly modified it and created 2 versions. I've posted this with his permission and obviously the due credits go to him.
Features:
- Pure Black background/theme consistent throughout all the apps.
- Own set of white icons
- Modified apps: Contacts, Messaging, Settings, Phone & Dialer.
- 4-way reboot menu.
- CRT screen off effect.
- App Ops
- Screen capture (screenshot) and torch added to the Power menu.
GPE Theme: removed the SystemUI.apk (it was constantly crashing), removed AirMessage.apk (didn't seem to be working outside Brian's Dynamic Kat ROM) and,
GPE Theme_HomeWake: same changes as above + I've modified the file under policy to force the Home button to wake up the phone (it makes sense when the finger scanner is used to unlock the phone). Note: Due to the original smali file enforcing a system-wide "Home-key-no-wake" policy, known file modifications under system/usr/keylayout have no effect whatsoever - hence, the creation of this version.
Material Design_HomeWake: (see the attached screenshots) same idea as GPE Home Wake but this is Brian's light theme. Note that due to the deep integration with his ROM, this theme offers only the same type of customization as the dark one, without taking advantage of any of the material design implementations.
NACO theme (Device Default) it's a combination of Brian's files and my files, it uses Samsung's Device Default theme/style (dark theme).
Features:
- Samsung's Device Default background/theme (dark with blueish headers - see the attached screenshots) - applied only to the affected apps
- Original icons
- Home button DOES wake the device (disabling this through the file IS possible)
- Modified apps: Contacts, Messaging, Settings, Phone & Dialer
- preserves original styles/themes of all the other apps not specifically modified for theming
- CRT screen off effect
- No App Ops - can be installed independently from Play Store
CREDITS:
- bri315317 for GPE Theme and Dynamic Kat ROM
- sefrcoko for his (Canadian) deodexed ROM
Screenshots: the dark theme is NACO Device Default theme, the light theme is Material Design_HomeWake.

I couldn't replicate the issue with the Clock or Samsung Music and since they seem to create some force closes with certain variants while working just fine with others, I've decided to remove them from all the themes - in other words no changes to the original Clock and Samsung Music apk. I've uploaded the new packages and update the OP to reflect the changes.

Hey thanks! I'm gonna give these another try. The only ones I was having problems with that I tried were the Clock and Music apk. When I tried the Contacts.apk I just copied and pasted to system/priv-app but it wouldn't show in my app drawer. Even after wiping cache and dalvik and fixing permissions. I will give it another go. SecSettings.apk. worked great tho.

Flash the whole zip file from recovery and wipe the Dalvik/cache afterwords - all 3 apks related to phone (SecTeleservice, SecContacts and InCallUI) need the services.jar under framework to get properly installed - if you try to just push them, as you did, you'll end up exactly in the situation you've described. Furthermore, I highly recommend installing all 3 apks related to phone - don't just pick Contacts. They are interdependent.

I have an alredy modified services.jar with hotspot unlocked. So I would probably lose that if i flash the provided one in the zip.

OK, then probably the best next thing for you would be to save your services.jar, flash the zip as is and once the installation completed/rebooted, then put back your services file. Let me know, please!

That did it! Everything worked as suggested. Some of the text bubbles are hard to see with the white text but the dark grey bubbles work fine. Black dialer with blue numbers looks good. Contacts looks great too...thank you!

Do you have any aspirations of modifying his material theme in the same regards?

If you are referring to Brian's Material Light Theme, that's actually quite easy, and yes, by all means if there are requests I can provide the files...but unfortunately, besides getting a nice light theme, very similar to Samsung's original, you won't get much more than that - due to the deep integration with his ROM, the theme won't inherit any material design characteristics/features, just background/font modifications similar to the dark themes.

No, these themes will NOT modify any aspects related to notification bar/ quick settings, etc, etc, etc.
The easiest/most convenient way to customize most of these aspects is by using Wanam's Xposed module.
