Hiu I've a vibrant with ffc mod, i'd like to make videocall to a phone number, with my carrier not videochat with any program. So i take the DialerTabActivity.apk from an i9000 rom and installed it in system/apps and changed the permission, so that i can make videocalls but i can't recive, so i tryed taking the i9000 phone.apk from the same i9000 rom and installing it in system/app, changing the permissions and now i can also recive videocalls, but there are two problems:
1) i have a cut image (see the attached image)
2) com.android.phone crashes at every call.
attached there is the screenshot and the phone.apk used.
red lines are not the problem, I used it to erase the name and the number
Someone can modify it for me?
Thank you very much
If you have the FFC Camera with the Epic or I9000 camera apk already installed then just get Tango, and you are good to go.............

Dosen't seem to work with stock 351.
You need to be on 2.3.x or greater for it to work, techinally it's from 2.3.4 but it's a hack to get it to work on 2.3-2.3.3
i installed it......but i dont know were it is....or what it does...lol
btw:im on dsc .63b.....went into streakmod, and flashed with manii's new .zip

difficult questions need easy answers:
1)what it does
it enables audio and video
2)where it is
if you had google talk icon before you should search for a similar if not identical icon in your apps drawer, looks like a white circle with "talk" written inside. once found click on it and voila' you should now be "inside" the app.
if you have done all correctly, which im sure you did, you should see the proof of the successfull upgrade: a small greenish icon on the right hand side of your name, instead of the dot it should resemble a "videocamera"
please let all of us know how its going, your feedback is precious to us.
works great on DSC 0.63b ROM. Thanks for this app.

Should i remove the stock Talk.apk before flashing the Talk2 v 1.zip?
yes you should...
I checked the system/apk and i saw that there is not talk.apk in the folder but just talk2.apk is in it.

then check permissions, of both files, if you dont have a file explorer with root enabled then just use themanii files they work perfectly
I have already flashed the themanii flashable zip,and then when i check the system/app i saw just the Talk2.apk but i can't see it in the app drawer and i can't use the app.The original Talk.apk is not in the system/app.I check the permissions, everything seems ok.
Thanks and appreciation to those who made this available.
I can confirm that this works fine on the DSC 0.71 rom.
Great job!
Is this just like Skype? Cuz I got video and audio on Skype

Any ideas how to install the AOSP ICS MMS.APK?
I'm running the LPB leak so i've got the ugly TW MMS.apk. I've tried MMS.APK from a CM9 download but it didn't work. Is there a flashable CWM file available? Currently using Handcent.
Thanks
I've been looking into this myself, as I much prefer the ICS look to the horrible iPhone-alike TW MMS app.
There's a thread that provided the stock ICS app, but the files were on multiupload, so it's not downloadable at the moment. The OP there indicated that there was a problem running the MMS app anyway.
I have tried grabbing the MMS.apk from the latest CM9 release for the SGSII, and that exhibits the described problem; the thread list appears, but the app FCs when trying to open a message thread.
---------- Post added at 01:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:15 PM ----------
There's also an ICS MMS app on the market, but it has been modified to include ads, so I'm not interested in that one.
Some guys looked at removing the ads, but the thread was shut down (for obvious reasons).

How did you try to install. As an apk. or using root explorer to pass to system/app folder?
Just wanted to bump this thread. I love the AOSP MMS app, and it FC's on me on Samsung LPH firmware. I tried pasting it to system/app, and it fc's when I try to send a message. Hopefully someone can port this apk
I believe you have to replace another apk as well.
If you want a rom that already has it, try Spike's Pure ICS special edition. It has aosp mms, calendar and contacts.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Westcrip's Resurrection Remix 9.4 is really good too. I've been using ever since 9.2 and it's been perfect so far - no FCs or bootloops or any problems at all, really. And apps are AOSP. He also has black versions of AOSP SMS and Market among others, which I love.
+1 for the AOSP mms.apk. Also tried replacing mms.apk with AOSP from different roms but it doesn't work.
I'm using Spike's Pure ICS 6.1, too bad the special edition is only in English. If Spike (or someone else) could give us a working AOSP mms.apk that would be great!
Now who wants AOSP MMS.apk for their S II?!
Download the following zip file and flash it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?8dejky1cqzc14lv
Note:
1. Make sure you flash it only after you have already synced up your contacts with google (do not flash it immediately after flashing a new rom)
2. This zip will replace your SMS app, CONTACTS app, CALENDAR app and your CALCULATOR app to AOSP versions.
3. Be sure you take a nandroid backup before flashing.
4. You must be in a Samsung ICS ROM (XXLPQ only) for this zip to work.
5. I did not create this zip. The credit goes to Spike_M who made this zip that can be flashed to his ROM Pure ICS. Do try out his ROM.
ENJOY!!
Thanks RobinRichard, though unfortunately this didn't work for me on XXLPQ (root with CF-Root). Phone and messaging services die horribly after flashing that zip with CWM -- "phone has stopped" and "messaging has stopped" dialogs constantly pop up
Will have a play when I have a bit more time, but I have restored the Samsung apps for now.

I updated my post. Plz download the new zip and try it. It works well for me.
Im on lpq (litening rom 2.1) and it works perfectly for me too!
I used AOSP mms.apk from Spike's Pure ICS V7.0. It worked well. Btw, I used root explorer to copy the apk in/system/app
Hi,
How did you paste the apk into system/apps? mine says read only ?!?
And also did you just paste 1 file or did you copied a few? like the files in the framework?
Someone have dialer app? =) btw, i'll make a custom rom with dsixda kitchen, so, i put the files in /system/app, right? also for the files in framework folder? right? =)

You can use a program such as Root Explorer to remount it. If you don't have that, there are other ways to do this using adb.
Does anyone happen to have a working mms.apk thaybis the same as the one in cm9? I think the aosp one is horridly ugly as is the Sammy one, but love the one used in cm9. But because it has a long way to go yet I don't wanna run cm9 as an every day driver.
I wish someone could help me..
i am using stock xxlpq but i really like aosp dialer and contacts so i downloaded the apk's from bezke rom and using rootexplorer i moved them to /system/app but when i restart the phone the old samsung dialer remains..what i am missing???
Nope, never, he is using another framework and need to be ported to work on you rom
Hi, i dislike the SecMms.apk from samsung and SecBrowser.apk.
So in the OMEGA v23, 25 i try to replace those apps. I delete them in /system/app
And i push JB Modded AOSP apk's in /system/app.
I give them rw-r--r-- right, i clear app cache and i reboot.
New Browser works fine and there is no bug. Mms apk works but there is a little annoying bug.
When a contact send me 3-4 messages instead of create 1 discussion, it create 2,3,4 discussions.
I really don't know what i have to do.
I need your help ! PLEAASEE
Thanks and sorry for my bad english ^^
I've been trying to do the same thing myself, I even tried the one included in the new Omega kitchen JB; same result..
I am ofcourse talking about the mms.apk..
I tried a modified mms.apk today too, modified in ways to remove the smiley key, just out of interest, and same results!
No text messages turns up in the same thread, it's a new thread for each post..
I'll post a link to this in the Omega thread, can't stand TW mms.apk! :S
I'm also having this problem. However today the mms.apk stopped completely and would FC anytime I opened it. I had to reflash the ROM.
+1
That is a know problem.. you will have to properly port the app..
As you guys maybe aware the stock phone.apk lags very much, however i found CM9.1 phone.apk very fast,So i am requesting the devs to mod CM9.1 apk to make this mod.
Here you go: https://www.box.com/s/l3wixqwtzua882ium02f

Are you sure this would work. i have tried earlier this caused a crash, need some change with SystemUI i guess
good question

Have tried this already, pretty neat app, but the problem is, still the the portion in which you attend the call is stock, there is delay of 3 seconds where my touch screen responds after getting the call, sometimes it even hangs.
