Ok well i got bored with the Stock 2.2 update from kies so i ODIN back to stock JFD. After that i rooted it and flashed clockwork recovery. I am now trying to install Bonix V but for some reason it just freezes at "Installing update..." Anyone know why its freezing? I searched for a solution but didn't find anything. Should i go back to stock 2.2 via kies and root that instead?
I would try to reinstall it before you Odin back. Are maybe even try Bionix V 1.2.1.

Thats the one im trying to install. I've tried reinstalling it many times now. I noticed that whenever i reboot to recovery ,the phone goes back to the stock recovery. I get clockwork recovery by reinstalling package every time. Then when i boot up to the phone normally Rom Manager and Titanium Backup have been automatically deleted. But i do still have root. I dont get whats going on.
are you flashing it from CWR? Did you try another download... maybe try another/updated rom too.

yea im flashing it from CWR. I haven't tried another download. Back when i had 2.1 i flashed Eugenes Gingerclone rom, that one worked fine. I'm wondering if maybe the official 2.2 update changed something thats now allowing me to flash?
I'd try the new bionix V 1.2.1 rom, see what happens.
If you are in CWR, that shouldnt be an issue.
I would download another rom, factory wipe, wipe cache/dalvik, flash, wipe cache/dalvik (NOT a factory wipe), then reboot.
boom.
try trigger.

I figured out the problem. What happened was that I extracted all the files from the bionix ROM because i wanted to have the Nexus boot up animation. I didn't know anything about signing after doing some research. Now i can't figure out how to sign the zip lol. I guess ill try to find another way to get the nexus boot animation. Thanks for the replies.
flash the roms as is, once installed then worry about the startup and shutdown animations.

You dont have to unpack the zipped rom in order to make changes to it. Open the zip file, dont unpack just open it to view its contents. You can add and remove files as you wish, as long as you put them in the right place you can mod the zipped rom and flash without a problem.

^ that. But I would add...
Just flash the rom. That boot can easily be flashed, it's in the theme section. May help your install.
yea i flashed the rom as is. pretty awesome rom.
You can download a flashable version of the nexus boot animation, I don't have a link just search.

Tried to install CM7 on my Vibrant 2.2 Rooted using Superoneclick method - Phone has superuser, Busybox, rom manager premium. I tried to flash clockwork recovery...
Clicked on Rom Manager
Clicked Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
Tried both Galaxy S Vibrant and Vibrant (MTD) options (seperately)
current recovery showed both versions after each flash and reboot
Clicked reboot into recovery
Phone boots into stock recovery
Tried reinstall packages like 5 times after each flash
always get signature verification errors
Im stuck here.. Could not figure out how to get past this issue
Any help greatly appreciated!
Only flash cwm recovery mtd 2.xxx since you're going from froyo to cm7.
Flash the recovery again, reboot into recovery, reinstall package, wipe data, reboot......sometimes this worked when I had issues a while ago.
Please back up everything before you flash...
I have just learned that I have the Stock 3e recovery on my phone... I have read that on the I9000 that you have to flash a new kernal... Im not sure if this is my problem, but last time I did this I bricked my phone where it would not power at ALL

Thats the exact Thread I was using before
1. Download ROM Manager from the Market.
2. Flash Recovery.
3. Choose Vibrant as your phone.
4. Accept the Superuser prompt.
5. On the very FIRST boot of Clockwork, you may need to manually select "reinstall packages" if Clockwork does not start. You should only ever have to do this once. It will be automatic from then on.
6. Watch the backup go!
After step 5 It always says signature verification failed, no matter how man times i click it or reboot phone
Even if I force reboot by holding all three buttons or reboot into recovery from rom managers menu it does this
Have you heard of this 3e recovery not working and only 2e works

if u want to install cm7 on ur phone its really quite easy! odin back to stock 2.1 as 2.1 is easier to root then froyo. Once ur at 2.1 root the eclair method by installing the update package twice and the second time it should turn green. Now go into Rom manager premium it wont u download the cm7 nightlies if ur on 2x! Pick Vibrantmtd and pick 3x not 2x. then when thats done go into downloads and download the newest cm7 nightlie which is 33#. For ur first nightlie always choose all three! Wipe data, wipe dalvik, backup rom. Then when u move on to #34 u only have to pick the 2-wipe dalvik and backup rom. As its always good to wipe data on ur first cm7 nightlie. With rom manager premium its as easy as 1.2,3

Lol Tried this when I had to flash back to stock after I soft bricked my phone... For some reason, every time I tried to root it again it would always tell me I was already rooted, but would not let me actually reinstall the packages... I tried the update.zip method and the superoneclick with both exploits. Its like even if I wipe it something gets stuck behind..

Was it the same software that you flashed? cause the Eugene software in your link always puts the I9000 software on it... Its a Vibrant(SGH-T959) and the boot screen changed to I9000 and it wouldnt boot past that when I flashed it with yours.

very simple, if you have already done the "flash CWM" via Rom Manager, then you should have an update.zip file in your root. Odin back to stock and hit reinstall packages. It should reboot into recovery. Hit reinstall packages again and you should have green clockwork..
OR
You can try to flash a stock + voodoo kernel via Odin as well.

I'm trying to install this ROM on my Vibrant that's currently running KB5.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105037
I saved the .zip file to my SD Card.
I installed ROM Manager and Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery. I'm rooted, so I got the superuser prompt which I said allow to.
I then went to Install ROM from SD Card and chose my ROM. I clicked ok to reboot the phone.
When it booted up, nothing installed and there were no options to install anything.
The top of the screen said Android system recovery (3e) then under it, Samsung Recover Utils.
Doesn't look like I'm booting to CWM.
What am I doing wrong?

go to rom manager and click boot to recovery or something like that, should take you to red or green recovery
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
install rom/file from sd and go down to project v then yes
let it install
go to advanced
wipe dalvik and fix permissions
reboot
leave it for 10 min (dont touch anything)
reboot again
Nope. When I boot to recovery, I get the same screen as if I choose install rom from SD card.
There's nothing about install from SD card on that screen.
Any other ideas?

you need to do that to be able to get into clockwork recovery i think
havent dont it for awhile
3e stock is the issue. Backup. Odin to jfd. Flash the update. Zip, no need for rom manager. Much easier.
Check the noob guide in my signature.
Write, that's a pain. How do I just flash the zip once I'm back on jfd?
Odin, root, flash takes 10 minutes.
Start downloading the files, while you wait read my guide to find the easiest method.
Ok. I'll try that.
Not clear exactly what I do after I ODIN jfd and reboot.
I have the ROM I want on my SDCard. What do I do with update.zip? Am I using CWM to flash the ROM or what's the way to do it without that?

Too late for that. I'm flashing jfd now.
Ok. Files downloaded. Doing ODIN now.
Did I need to do anything with that update.zip?
Stand by, please.
Once jfd boots, move my update to internal root with your rom.
Your phone can be on, both volume s and power for about 9 second, release at Vibrant logo
Stock recovery
Reinstall packages
Do it again
Cwr
Now flash your rom
Boom
Ok. Got CWM to come up and choose to install my zip.
Says Installing: SDCARD: Project_V_06.......
Finding update package....
Been that way for a couple of minutes.
I think something is wrong. It's definitely just stuck there.
EDIT: I did a battery pull, then back into recovery and the ROM is installing now.
I guess it wasn't such a pain. My wife will kill me if I screw this up.
I guess that I figured once I went to JFD, there's really no going back, but if I flashed the ROM directly from the 2.2 ROM I was on, it was a major process anyhow and it wouldn't have been any easier going back.
Waiting for ROM to boot and will then let it sit idle for 10 minutes per instructions.
I really hope this works better than the stock ROM and doesn't have any showstopper bugs or I'll never hear the end.
And hope that my Titanium backup gets everything pretty much back the way it was.
I did backup TWLauncher with Titanium. Can I restore that to this ROM to get my home screen icons back or am I going to need to rebuild my home screen icons because it's a different TWLauncher version?
Cool, linda should be installing voodoo. You're golden.
I'm also on V. Strongly suggest his trigger theme on top. If you have not amazing signal, try the ka6 modem. Only issue with V, I can't stand the stock browser after having the cm7 browser.
I use adw ex, no clue what versions are there.
If you have the paid version of TB, restoring apps is cake. Avoid system apps, do NOT restore those.

Yes, I didn't even back up system apps. I've gone through that on my Droid X and you get the sync thing to never go away.
Maybe I'll try that KA6 modem. I flash that via ODIN, right? Why KA6, in particular?
I think we'll stick with the stock theme
Don't try ka6 until you feel you need to. There are flashable versions.
No stock keyboard included!?
Any way to get that back? I'm sure she's used to using the keyboard the way it was and won't want to learn an alternative keyboard.
I ran bloater and found samsung keyboard and wifi calling there and it says it's installing, but they don't.
I was sent a Fascinate as a Droid Incredible replacement. I was able to root it without a hitch but now my CWM can't mount anything. Won't mount anything can't bring up any logs. I am using the CM7 Clockwork and my phone is now bricked and I'm tired of using Odin to restore it and root it again then flash CWM and CM7, I lose all my games and free apps which I have to download again.
What am I doing wrong?
Also, are you using atlas.pit when odining to stock? After doing what does the phone stop working entirely (IE does the phone boot up CM7 and then brick, or can it not load CM7 at all)? Can you run stock without your phone breaking?

Yeah. I can work on stock just great.
What is the best rooting method to use if I plan on using CM7?
What I do is use Super One Click to root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682), then flash the custom CM7 CWM, and then flash CM7 in the custom recovery after wiping data, cache, and dalvik.
Use the CM7 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190668
Do I use the recovery in that thread? I've been using that one as well. I will re download the rom then.
Yes. Here are the exact steps from that thread after rooting with SuperOneClick:
Start with a rooted device (do not ask us how to do this).
Flash ClockworkMod Recovery attached to this post.
Download and push the ROM zip file to the sdcard.
Reboot into recovery.
Do a Nandroid Backup!
Wipe Data! Seriously! Do it!
Install the ROM zip from sdcard
Install gapps package linked here (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version#Google_Apps)
Alright. Let me try that again now. I just put the Nightly #8 on my SDCARD
Flashed it through the recovery, it's at the Samsung logo now. I am going to leave it there for a bit and see if that changes.
Yeah. It's stuck at the logo. I reboot into recovery and I get the log errors. That's 6 Odin resets today.
Make sure you use atlas.pit when restoring to stock. If you are following those directions exactly, all I can say at this point is to try another ROM (maybe MIUI or OMGB) and see if that works, unless another poster wants to take a stab at this.
Yeah, I'm using the atlas 2.2.pit
I had it working yesterday but only if I flashed the rom using the orange recovery through ROM Manager. I might try that again.

I think the nightly might be your problem?...my $.02...and there are a lot of extra steps but it works for me if I really can't get cm7 to load (I've done this more then once)
Odin eb01 with the atlas 2.2pit and reboot fully when odin is done.
Pull battery...Odin cwm 3/30 fix all..and when that's done, install battery and 3 finger salute into recovery....wipe everything and flash com rom 2.0 and reboot.
This is where you may have to try different recoveries, putting com rom on your phone gives you root, recovery and voodoo. So from here if your recovery doesn't properly flash cm7 you can simply pull the battery re odin a different recovery and try again, as long as you don't try to reboot the phone.
Make sure you are using the 7/17 build from, jt's pretty much official cm7 Thread, not the nightly. even if this is not what you want it should properly get you to mtd format, so another rom on an mtd build can just be flash the good old way.
I've had the cwm4.x.x.x work fine and then today it would not work after I flash a different kernel with out wiping anything...oops! I've had 3/30 fix all cwm give me the best results but even today would not work.
What did work was using the com rom recovery to flash times infinity's purple recovery zip...reboot recovery into the purple one, and then wipe everything and flash cm7 7/17...ugh finally! Once I was there just power button menu... reboot recovery to install gapps, and glitch. You could at this point wipe cache and dalvik and flash nightly if you wanted...hope some of this helps.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I've had the same problem tryin to flash all mtd based roms...it always sticks at the samsung logo when I three finger back to recovery. I get the error logs aswell...**** sucks lol. That's odining ed05, fully boot, odin cwm 4 fix for cm7, boot recovery, wipe data, cache, dalvick, install rom.zip, all for a samsung logo and log error lol. So instead of spending 5hrs trying to flash a rom, I spent 10min and flashed power wash ed05, works great!
So how can I fix this?
My screen looks exactly like this and it doesn't give me a chance to flash cyanogenmod from the sd card.
I think my problem is similar to what is stated here: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s-all-things-root/248433-stuck-install-default-apk-file-using-rom-manager-photo.html
Do I need a new kernel? Where would I find one of those..

First just boot it back up and go back to that screen you posted, then re-install the packages, might need to do it twice, if that doesn't work then do a fresh install of JFD again and follow the instructions listed below, you just haven't re-installed the packages yet to get your CWM recovery green screen yet!!
Do what he says, but untick the reboot in odin, so you will have manual control of that, REASON WHY is so you can use the 3E recovery menu to clear data/reset to factory and then wipe the cache, these two things alone if not done account for alot of locking or boot looping during first initial start after a fresh flash, and is the reason why the OP's suggest to always wipe and clear, so as to remove Ghosts from the prior SW and not corrupt the data, and or especially mess with the BLdr's
Also make sure to root the phone first after your fresh install of JFD, before you install Rom Manager, then flash CWM.
Also when you go to CWM recovery the first time to re-install packages, sometime you have to do it twice, and usaully the 2nd time will get you to your green menu , and then your in business to start the process of Modding with the flavors around here!!
I don't know what I'd doing wrong, I'm using the update.zip file in the noob guide to get clockwork recovery after im stock and then i try to install cyanongen mod and it boot loops and only attempts to flash for about a second. You are a genius!!! I spent forever trying to figure it out! That worked, I still cant figure out why it ever happened in the first place. I've flashed a decent amount of times now and haven't had anything similar happen. I really appreciate the help!
It's no problem. Whenever I flash Miui (which is based off of Cyanogen) from stock 2.1 I get the same boot loop issue. Not exactly sure why it happens though.
