Hi everyone, recently I got some images for the ADW Launcher dock and I wanted to replace the original dock, but how am I going to change the dock? Please help, thanks. Using ADW Launcher EX 1.2.1
I think you can't change the dock background, just the number on icons in the dock. :O
Not true.... u can change it I do it all the time
Settings / UI settings / main dock

This is for dock icons, I meant for dock background.
This can be done in ADW EX but not in the regular ADW.

that's not true I have adw ex... You cannot change the dock background in adw period, you can either show it, or hide it. You can use custom ones on launcher pro though, however I still prefer adw.
change adw launcher dock
I have a ADW Launcher ex 1.2.2
to change the dock :
1. switch main dock to hidden dock ( more beautiful for me )
2. adw setting / ui setting / main or hidden dockbar / dock background
Thank u to the smart guy above me... it can be done. I use adw as my main launcher.... adw ex
UI settings , main dock, dock background, custom, choose image. Couldn't be anymore simple. Do u need me to put screenshots? Lol

what version are you using? I'm on 1.0 and it does not have that option. That's the problem I think, I haven't updated to the newer so I didn't know you could do that now

no apology necessary!
A bit of a bump but I'm getting conflicting answers, and I can't seem to find the right words to describe my question in Google so here it is on XDA - is it possible to change the background of the dock down the bottom of screen with all those icons on it?

I'm in the same boat. I have both Launcher and Launcher EX. I wanted EX for it's ability to edit icons, but it seems that I've lost the ability to hide the background for the dock. I've read the posts here and elsewhere about how to get to the UI Settings -> Main Dock menu. But there's no 'Dock Background' item in this menu of ADW.Launcher EX (just downloaded from the market yesterday).
At least in the regular ADW.Launcher, I can go to UI Settings and select 'Hide AB Bg', which hides the background (makes it invisible behind the buttons). But then I can't directly edit my icons. I'm a bit tired of searching for icon packs with what I want, and really just want to make a small tweak to the standard icons, but also have the few nifty extras that Ex provides. Evidently the Dock Background menu item (and functionality?) were removed in a past update?
Its relocated to adw themes, dock, custom background

Hi! Installation is super easy...
just download the apk of your choice...
copy it to your SD Card..
download and install any file manager from the market...
browse and select your apk and then install it...
press home button, there will be a list of launchers installed on your phone...
select the option 'Use this by default'...and then select TwLauncher....
you are done...
and yes plz dont qoute full post...plz edit it...
Its buggy
when you try to move apps in app drawer its auto switching pages and you can use only 4x3 homescreen grid... the rest overlay with the dock
Thanks for sharing. It's runnin nicely
Is it possible to create an icon pack for LauncherPro with the Touchwiz icons?
If it is, then please do it, because I like Launcherpro very much and don´t like to change it, but I also like this cool icons.
Please do it if it´s possible!!!
I was wondering if it's possible to change an app's name and icon in the bottom dock? I can't seem to find any apps for it, the only ones (anycut, bettercut, desktop visualizer etc) I can find are only able to create shortcuts on the homescreen, but I can't put those in the dock.
I know there's LauncherPro/AWD, but I would like to keep using Touchwiz 4.
tl;dr:

You may consider trying out Bettercut or SuperShortcuts.
I have not tested those, but according to their features it looks to achieve what you are looking for.

I don't want to use a launcher, but I would like to be able to to customise the icons and text. Something like what Desktop Visualiser does for home screen icons.
It should be possible since other launchers can do it, right? Or is TW a little bit too complicated?
I'm using Go Launcher Ex atm, it's pretty good but TouchWiz 4 feels faster and smoother.

Really?
My reading of the app description implies that one needs a launcher to make use of the dock customisation.
Correct me if I am wrong. If this is not the case then this may well be the answer. I am happy to pay for the app if it does the job; however I am reluctant to dive on in without confirmation that this is indeed the solution to the problem.
Can anyone confirm that Custom Launcher Icons can be used to edit the icon and text of a TW dock icon without the need for a launcher or root access?

Me too. I'd like to change the contacts launcher to the browser launcher.
Yesterday I went from TW to Go Luncher it is prety awsome but I don't like that things that then you hit contacts from the dock and thenn want to go back (with key). first of all you go to phone and then I have to press back again in oder to return to home screen. And other thing is app drawer, then I open an app and hit back to close it I go to home screen not back to drawer. i feel inconvienent . Tell your experience with lunchers on yours S2
Thanks
I don't understand what you mean by pressing contacts in the dock and going back using a key.
There is no launcher that keeps open the drawer when selecting an app. I use MIUI, it has no drawer, apps are installed to the home-screen. So actually this takes away the 'inconvenience' you say you have.
Sidenote: Miui is not a launcher. It's a rom.
Touchwiz all the way!! Adw and launcher pro also good!

At home screen, at the buttom there are 5 icons and one is for contacts. Then I click on it it opens contacts list and then I want to exit I press back key (that light sensor) and it sends me not to home screen but to phone app (dial pad). On TW where was such thing.
I know that there aren't. But image that I open file explorer from drawer I use it, and then want to exit on TW I pressed back key and I would get back to drawer because I opened the program from it. But with GO luncher then I hit back I go to home screen. Maybe I miss something.
Sorry my english isn't very good

Using Go for a while now, love it have to say. Just remove that Stock Contact icon and replace with the system Contact icon, simple. The default dock icons of Go aren't pretty, black and white, ehh. I always replace all of them.
About other launchers, LP, Zeam and etc, they all are ****. What type of launcher is one in which you can't select a 480x800 wallpaper.
Nemus launcher is another good option, but it is still very basic.
And there is already a thread regarding launchers in Theme and App section.
Can you explain how to remove that Stock Contact icon and replace with the system Contact icon. I quite new here

Press and hold the stock contact icon, you will get options like Delete, Replace, Gesture. Click Delete. You will see a + icon, add Application, then select Contacts.
DONE.
Go Launcher for its widgets, was a launcher pro plus user but now prefer Go as they are constantly updating lpp seems to have gone to sleep.

Done but in the future I think I will look for icon pack because the default was so cute .
So there left one problem. And it is with drawer and apps which I mention previously maybe someone have solution for it?
And in oder not to creat a new thread, I would like an app which shows what apps are running (something like the task maneger widget in TW). Go task maneger isn't very good for me. Maybe some knows something similar?

What is the bar on the bottom of your tab? with the shortcuts?
That's no bar. It's only a background image. The icons was selfmade images buttons witch desktop visulizer, and the switch was a widgetsoid widget. If you interested I upload the images or create some new. It's very easy for my, my so I have save the psd file and change only the text of the images.

Those shortcuts and text... is that part of the background? If not I would love to have those... looking really really good .
the short cuts are seperate.i have made a zip include the wallpaper, icons, psd files, wallswitch apk and apsorganizer apk.
important, the wallpaper dimension are only for awd launcher.
first install wallswitch.apk go to setting, select you're wallpaper folder.set crop method to "16:9".
push select wallpaper.
to create the shortcuts folders to media, infos etc install appsorganizer
to create the icons download desktop visualizer.
then "create widget" set desktop visulizer 1x1.
edit the icon on home screen.pic up you're image, email, media etc.set action and set "other".
first entry is apps organizer.clear the label.set the highlight color, or vibration if you want.
set ok and that´s it.
if you want download widgetsoid and create some switcher widegts.

I know took me forever to find a weather/clock widget I liked. It's the 3D Flip Clock & Weather widget, and the 3D Flip Clock & Weather white glass theme pack. Easy to set for multiple areas for weather, and when you click the icon (the cloud in this case) it brings up a forecast. You can change a lot with it too, from the look, to the images used for weather etc. Cool little option to have the battery meter there too and it's accurate.

Once you flash shostock2 you can use GO Launcher still or install Apex Launcher and have the Go theme you want to use installed, long press the dock icon in Apex you want to change, click edit, click the icon in the pop up then "select from icon packs" then pick the Go theme with the icon you want, then pick the icon from the list.
