I hunted around in older CM 6.2 ROMs (circa Tazz V20), but was unsuccessful - probably I didn't try hard enough.
I did find a copy here in this AF post.
Seems to work OK on my phone (GSB1.4, light testing). Shows up in the Application Manager as "Camera v 2.1-update1", but the icon in the App drawer looks identical to the 3D Gallery Icon.
Dunno if there is a newer version.

yeah, I like the 2d gallery better. the 3d gallery on the eris really stinks man. Too much lag and it takes forever to load anything. I don't know why these developers keep putting the 3D version instead of the 2D or leave both of them in there so we can choose. Thats why I like the TenzoRCmix rom, it gives you both to choose from.

Unfortunately tho, unless I really just couldn't figure it out, when you use 2d gallery to pick a wallpaper or such it shows every single photo in one folder rather than seperating folders like in 3d.
With like 1,000 photos on my phone that gets reaaaaaaally annoying

Here is a flashable one that removes Gallery3D and installs the the 2D Gallery.

I love the speed of the 2D gallery but canteen live without the group by folders/date in the 3D gallery. It takes FOREVER to find a particular picture in the 2D gallery. If the pic you want is at the bottom you have to scroll through all your pics and there is no grabby scroll bar.

I use the My Movies Android app to synchronize with my 1000-movie My Movies computer database so you can imagine how many photos are on my SD card with the DVD covers, etc. 3D Gallery is therefore a must for me!

Will this flashable zip work with KaosFroyo v39? I've been looking to get rid of the 3D gallery and cant figure out if I need a special package for KF. Thanks!

If the 3D pics are displayed in 3D, then the gallery is pointless. Isn't it kind of ironic that that gallery is called the "3D" Gallery?
is there a way we can make sub folders in the stock gallery.
You can in Quick Pic but again it wont show the 3D ones

I used to use the 3D gallery but I have a lot of picture folders and it would arrange them in some entropic order sometimes and got too annoying so I switched to Quickpic. I was going to install Quickpic on my 3vo but the new HTC gallery is a huge improvement. The most important feature, it starts with the most recent pictures. That was so annoying with the old gallery app. You'd spend 30 seconds scrolling to your recent pictures.
Bahahhaha youre kidding me right? That has to be worst gallery ever made, its what cm7 uses.
3D gallery runs crappy even on this phone. I still have folders loading pics long after I opened the app. Uninstalled.
Im pretty content with the HTC gallery included with the 3VO.
Thanks for the link.
What bothers me the most about HTC gallery is that when you click on a photo or a video in the gallery, there is no option to delete.
This is regression from Google's stock gallery because when I have 5 very similar pictures, I need to be able to compare them by swiping through them and then deleting those that i dont like. Having to go back to the thumbnail view is terrible because I cant tell which one I decided to delete.
I started a thread on this in the HTC forum - please add your feedback there if you agree: community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/138/p/12583/53177.aspx#53177 (cant post proper links yet)
Never mind
You have to tap the image instead of hitting the menu button.

Hey!!! now I know your ID on both forums!!!! lol
To the opp....sorry the new gallery that comes with the 3D is good enough....fast....and I just don't see a need to load another app that does the same **** I can do with the one that comes stock.
It is nice and fast indeed, but it doesnt show 3d content properly
I dont really have a performance problem with HTC Gallery.

Best gallery app?

Can anyone recommend a good gallery app, paid or free. I installed gingerbread and although I like the new gallery it's just so slow. It never loads all the thumbnails so I can't tell what each picture is without pressing it.
I appreciate any suggestions.

I use QuickPic -- its free on the market. Great gallery app, fast, smooth, loads up images in NO time.
I'm using Gallery+ right now cuz I hate 2.3.4's Gallery, gotta try that QuickPic one.
I use Quickpic. Love it.

+1 for QuickPic
will have to check it out; i HATE that the new gallery is all timecode based; i have all my pics (i am a published pro photographer and cameraman) organized meticulously and the new gallery wont let me just see everything in the old froyo file system. plus it is (WAY) slower and will not properly load thumbnails so 95% of my shots (which i keep in full res on the external SD card) show up without a thumbnail or title.
totally unacceptable to me. also i dont do social networking (AT ALL, i call/tango/skype if needed and talk or text but i prefer REAL human interaction) so tagging etc is useless for me.
+982343 for QuickPic
Super fast, and also renders images you use for WALLPAPER without any quality loss; if you set a wallpaper using the stock gallery vs quickpic you will see a stark difference.

yep, i noticed this straight away, with the wallpapers, and luckily quickpic does them perfectly, best gallery ive used.
Is the crap quality wallpaper thing a problem with the atrix gallery app or is it the same on other phones?
You guys are all correct, Quickpic is great. I need to start recommending it to people. Thanks again.

Another vote for Quickpic here... Flashed 2.3.4 a few days ago and I have been more than disappointed with the new stock gallery app. Quickpic is definitely the answer. It organizes everything for you.
Sent via Motorola Olympus
Quickpic has my vote! So much easier to use!
Agreed quick pic is great but I also use b and b http://gallery.breadandbuttertool.com/ which has better folder options in certain circumstances imo. Those 2 though are all I need really!
quickpic!!
Quickpic is about the best.
But one feature that they ALL lack is an ability (option) not to recursively show subfolders.
ie, I have a folder called pets, and inside two more called cat, and dog. From the main gallery I only want to see pets and any images in pets. If I want to dig into cat or dog, I want to see those as subfolders. Just like folders in Windows.
If you like the idea of this, send an email to the author of quickpic. I requested this and he likes the idea. He said maybe if more people request it.
Okay, my personal mission aside.
Has anyone frozen (TiBu) the stock gallery app? I don't like it, and I'm tired of it littering my /sd with cache folders all over the place.
Yet another vote for quickpic.
Hey guys. I did a factory restore on my phone for reasons unrelated to the gallery, but when it was done, the factory gallery now works flawlessly. It loads up almost instantly and the thumbnails are perfect. I still think I like quickpic better, but I thought I would let you guys know what happened.

I have tried a few gallery apps because i totally hate the stock gallery app as well. I love how smooth QuickPic is. They recently released a latest version of this app, making pinch to zoom look like eye candy.
Have a look at this youtube link and see for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQdOwRCh__g
*Note: This is the old version of QuickPic though....the latest version is WAY smoother.

would a 3D app drawer be possible?

if someone with the knowledge took a look at how the 3D is used for pictures and videos, would it be possible to incorporate it into the app drawer? maybe a single line of apps at a time
Once we get S-off and perm root, we'll find out. Most likley, huge battery drain though....hope you have a 4000 mAh ready to take advantage of that.
It wouldn't have to be 3D as in how the pics and movies are viewed, but instead how the sense UI is displayed. An app drawer where the apps rotate into view from an angle to give the illusion of 3D. I'm surprised that HTC didnt put more work into the senseUI appearance. If you watch the Evo3D commercial and didn't know better, you'd think that the phone was in 3D mode 100% of the time (as in how movies and pics are viewed).

Its not real 3d right? Downloading now looks kinda cool.
To the op, I think to do what you want it would need to be a homescreen locked in landscape only. As far as I know you can only see 3d if its in landscape .

How to apply my own wallpapers...

Hi All,
I apologize, I know this has been covered before, but I am confused and having some issues applying my own photos for wallpapers on CM9. I used to use the HP wallpaper applier when I used CM7, but it keeps crashing with CM9.
Anyway, I have high res raw photos that I can resize to whatever I choose. I used to use 1536x1024, but now it still crops/zooms/blurs it when I apply the wallpaper. I've used the stock one, ES and quickpic. I have also tried other resolutions, but it still crops/blurs my images.
Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to get the HP wallpaper app to work on CM9?
Also should mention I'm running 120 dpi, if that makes a difference.
Try using OI File Manager in conjunction with the HP Touchpad Applier.

I'm currently on CN. I will flash to CM9 and see if I can figure it out for you. Give me about half an hour so I can backup, flash, etc.
What version of CM9 are you on?
Sent from my MIUI Evo 3D
Ok, I flashed over to CM9 Alpha 2. I can finish that HP Touchpad Wallpaper Applier force closes. I installed OI File Manager then retried the HP Touchpad Wallpaper Applier and it worked perfectly. I tested it with multiple wallpapers with no negative effects.
I recorded a video of it if your interested.
My suggestion is try uninstalling the wallpaper app, re install, install OI File Manager and it should work. Worst case scenario is having to do a fresh install of CM9.
Sent from my MIUI Evo 3D
Yes if you install the applier and the oi file manager the app works pretty dang great, no crashes or issues, if you need wallpapers (which need to be at or above 1536*1024) you can get them in my thread in my signiture
Thanks guys. I installed oi file manager and it the app works now! Except, it still crops my photos and zooms in a bit. Nothing terrible, but it still does it.

The reason it appears to be cropping is because the Touchpad is originally 1024x768. The app requires a higher resolution to account for the scrolling wallpaper effect. If you have multiple screens, take a look to get an idea if what I mean.
Sent from my MIUI Evo 3D
I personally use multipicture live wallpaper and it pretty fantastic..yes it has a bit of cropping (but not much) but i think all of them do. I recommend it because you can have it switch wallpapers at set intervals or by simply double tapping any blank area of the screen to get a new image. I downloaded a bunch of images from some of the various wallpaper threads and I found a bunch of ipad wallpapers from flicker. Very pleased with this app check it out...
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture
also there is a paid version
Thanks guys. I'm ok with the cropping, just thought I remember it not cropping but taking the full image with CM7.

[Q] Good gallery replacem for ASOP?

Looking for a good gallery replacement, I do alot of themeing on my phone and it takes the 3D gallery forever to load all my folders. Looking for something more like the sense gallery (I have a thunderbolt) which seems to open and load folders and thumbnails much faster. Any suggestions?
