[Q] Deep Sleep issue - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running latest firmware (2.1.4) on an A101IT and have an issue with Deep Sleep. If I put the A101IT into Deep Sleep two times, after waking it up the second time the device runs extremely slow. It appears to be unresponsive but actually does respond if given time. Can anyone who is having Deep Sleep problems duplicate this? Aside from an Archos firmware fix, does anyone know of a way to fix this issue? Thanks.
UPDATE: I installed a terminal emulator, ran top and when the A101IT returns from Deep Sleep the second time, /usr/sbin/audiomixer is taking 95% of the CPU. Looks like that is the culprit but I'm still not sure how to fix it.

[SOLVED] Deep Sleep issue
I think I found a solution...since /usr/sbin/audiomixer was taking all the CPU time I started poking around in Settings->Sound. There is a setting there called "Screen lock sounds" which I had checked. So I unchecked that setting and have been able to go in and out of Deep Sleep without any problems. Hope this helps someone. Sure hope Archos reads this forum too!

Just an off topic question but related to deep sleep.
Does the power led turn off when you put your device into deep sleep?

Too bad then mine is broken. Even just after doing a full device reset and flashing any firmware and no other apps installed the led stays on all the time.

For me, the LED only turns off after I leave my Archos idle for a while until the screen turns off.
If I press power button to put it into deep sleep, the LED is still on.

Sorry, the LED does turn off after I press the power button, but take some time to.
My USB host functions, but not for all thumbdrives.

When you press the power button, did you turned off WiFi or enabled flymode?

Wifi was off.
I tried the airplane mode but no go.
Remember this was a firmware install with nothing added no extra apps nothing.
I'v done this with 2.0.71 and 2.1.04 and always got the same result no sleep deep or otherwise.

When I turn airplane mode on and put the device in deep sleep the led stays on. In every other case the led turns off.

[Q] SGS2 screen stays on after notification while charging

Hi guys!
I noticed over quite a time, that while I leave my phone charging over the night, any random notofication will cause the screen to stay on until I wake up and manually turn it off.
On my galaxy s2 I have VillainRom 2.1.0 (Android 2.3.4) with ninpho's 2.0.4 kernel.
However I did notice the problem before with VR 1.4 and CF-Root kernel (didn't use anything else yet), so I figure it might not be related to this.
This is rather annoying, as I don't want any burn in effects on my screen, but there's a much worse part about it:
It's noch 100% limited to the time of being charged. If I remove the charger at 100%, play around a little with the phone and then go to sleep, some random notification (whatsapp/sms etc.) will still cause the phone to wake up and not go back to sleep mode.
What happens is, I wake up with a phone at 50% battery (at it's best!), or I don't even wake up because my phone is dead and therefore my alarm clock stays quiet..
I read about some people having this problem with their SGS1 and it might help to go to Settings -> Applications -> Development -> uncheck Stay awake.
SGS2 does not have this "stay awake" option (or I'm seriously stupid)..
Anyone an idea what I might want to try?
Best greetings, Alex
At that screen I have "Standby" and you need to have it unchecked. Also, what's your screen-off delay? You don't have any apps like screebl keeping you screen on, I assume?

I do not have this option. my screens stays on all the time.
You're problem sounds similar to mine.

I have tested with a stock rom of which I made no input and had the same issue.
Hope we can solve our problems. Cheers

mine just started doing it. i have been running custom rom for awhile now.
apps recently installed:
words free
launcher pro 806
extended controls
impossible level game
I have uninstalled:
words free
impossible level game
my issue is still happening.
when unplugged screen turns off.
I can get a text, it will light up then turn back off.
when plugged in (charging)
display will not turn off unless i press the lock button.
if i get a text the screen turns back on and stays on unless i press the lock button again.
I have recently re-flashed, complete wipe of phone and factory reset wipe.
I still have the screen on when charging and no option to disable.
I need an option to disable the "stay awake"
As my fault occurs with the phone completely reset on a stock rom it must be hardware so I am going to return it and see what happens from there.
I have flashed CM7 and there is an option to turn stay awake off.
This option is removed in DarkyRom.
Finally figured out how to turn it on or off!!!!
install the app extended controls and add stake awake as a toggle.
Turn it off!!!
then remove app
FINALLY!

[Q] phone not powering down completely

have you guys noticed that when you power down the phone it does shut off but not completely. the reason i think that its not fully shut down is because the phone boots back up within seconds of powering on....also the up time and awake time have not been reset back to 0. this actually is the only way my phone goes to sleep. any other time when i just turn the screen off my phone won't really sleep (wake lock)..ive noticed this with the blackend rom and also infected rom...the way i found to fix the wake lock issue is to do a factory reset which fixes the problem until i have to charge the the phone which everyone knows that the phone won't sleep while charging. so have you guys experienced this? and also do you know whats causing the wake lock? ive searched the forums and cant find anything...thanks!!
Fastboot, in the power menu, turn it off.
ok turned off fastboot and this fixed the up time and awake time not resetting...still having the wake lock issue tho...any other ideas to fix this?

When you reboot your phone, it does not turn completely off because you are rebooting the phone. It is a feature added by htc to speed up reboot speeds. When you reboot, it kills all apps and processes, goes to sleep, and boots up.
Turn fastboot off (menu>settings>power>fastboot) if you want it to turn completely off while rebooting.
To make the phone sleep while charging, go to
menu>settings>applications>development and uncheck "stay awake"
went to my setting and the stay awake while charging was unchecked already...actually i dont mind having wake lock while charging...just the wake lock with normal use...thx tho

Screen won't timeout while charging

I'm running stock, and I've found the screen won't automatically turn off while charging. 53 seconds after last touching the screen it will dim (when not charging it turns off at 60 seconds as it should), but will never turn off or lock as long as it is plugged in.
I've only installed these apps: audible, Facebook, pandora, speed test, and swift key. All updates installed.
This problem even happens after a battery pull at the lock screen before I've touched the phone, it just dims the lock screen.
There is an option in settings somewhere for "Keep screen awake while charging".
On ICS its in the development submenu - I can't remember exactly where it was on GB..
If you use a power control widget, you can change the screen timeout options.
I recommend Power Controls by Painless Death.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Best free widget I've found.
Or just press the lock/power button manually once phone is plugged in?

I remember there's an option to turn on the notification light when setting up an email account in the device. You can try deleting the account and add it back to deactivate the light.

The notification LED turns on only when the tablet is in sleep mode (screen is off) and Wi-Fi is connected so the tablet can sync/receive email, Gmail, etc., when it is in sleep mode. To disable the notification LED while the tablet is in sleep mode, change the table's Wi-Fi disconnect policy to "When screen turns off" which causes the tablet to not sync/receive email when the tablet is in sleep mode.
Another option is to completely power off the tablet. If you do not want to be notified that you have a new email message while you are trying to go to sleep, then why have the tablet powered on?

The notification LED will still be on to give alert there is new email when the Wi-Fi disconnect policy is set to "When screen turns off". At least that is my case!

The tablet cannot sync/receive email if its Wi-Fi is disconnect, so all I can say is double check your tablet's settings. If the Wi-Fi is disconnected and your tablet is still receiving email, then I suspect witchcraft is involved.

Just disable Wifi at night. Why would you need your emails while sleeping when you can just turn wifi on in the morning and check them in 5 secs..

Turning Screen Off

I found out how to turn off screen in or out the charger with screen always off or on. I just place my finger across the whole screen from top to bottom, it vibrates then turns off. I don't know if this has been mention yet, or if this is just me and my watch.

You didn't read the manual of the watch did you? And also this doesn't solve the display on while charging, it only dimms and doesn't turn off.

Yes obviously. That's why it's called always on. But we are trying to find a solution to turn off the screen completely when charging, whether always on is active or not
It already says this in the manual: "Dim the screen: Press your palm onto the screen until it vibrates"
