The P500 problems type thread - pool - Optimus One, P500, V General

This is a thread for to report the lg p500 problems. In a italian forum someone make the same and honestly there's a high percentage of people with problems.
The problem is that Italian LG is 3-4 months in retard for releasing a fix for solving problems, and we don't know when and if this update will true come. I would like to see if those are problem only for lg p500 distributed in italy or not.
So the problems that seems to afflict the most dispositives are:
- The unmount of sd card
- The phone reboots it self continuosly (indipendent from the sd)
- The phone quit itself and doesn't turn on
- LG app advisor doesn't work
- Noise on calls (the most problem signaled)
- Dust in the screen
- Clock goes forward about 2,3 minutes at week
So are those problems present also on your device?

Hi,
I have had this phone for about a month and have noticed some of the issues you mention:
- The phone freeze sometime (2-3 times in one month) with following automatic reboot.
- Had 1 reboot during call.
No of the other issues noticed so far.
Stock rom but upgraded SD card to 16 Gb, kernel v. 2.6.32.9, FRF91, V10c-OCT-12-2010.

I have had none of those problems so far... maybe it is a regional thing? where p500 from certain places have certain problems? I'm from Australia and my p500 has been working perfectly.

No such problems here too

I have a german p500 and I have a clock issue too.
Cheap crystals.

I have number third problem. The phone quits itself sometimes and reboot is possible only after battery pull out.

Oh look, a poll has been added!!
Vote away!!

I reported the same issue, the reboots happens only removing the battery or connecting the phone to the charger

My phone is super fast, even the clock is faster than regular clocks!

the unmount of the sd and the freeze when im watching youtube movies for longer than 10 minutes

Constant sibilance (hiss) while talking on phone

I have the first and second problem. My phone keeps having this SD card unmount issue with random reboot/freeze problem. Very annoying... Stock V10c rom, and stock SD card... anyway to resolve this problem?

- Noise on calls ( So disturbing )
- Dust in the screen (the most annoying thing)

please mention your rom and kernel
also cpu clock too
Thanks

Mine sometimes just restart itsels and then just stuck at booting screen. Maybe its from overheating, as I carry it in my pocket, but i really dont know.
I am using Megatron v1 @ 768Mhz

My wife and I have had two p509s since Christmas and the only thing we have noticed was the unmount of the sdcard. After some research we found out that it was due to the way the card was formatted and haven't had issues since we reformatted the cards. All in all the phones have been pretty good to us.

I must be lucky
I don't have any of the mentioned problems, except for the last (clock too fast)... However, I don't think that's too much of a real problem - there are programs which can be used to set your clock according to a time server, _and_ Android supports a way of automatically syncing your clock (even though that method is not supported by all phone service providers, mine for instance doesn't)
All in all, I'd never have expected it but this phone has been my best phone experience ever (never had a real high end device though)...

I suffer three of the issues: sd unmount, phone freezing (quits itself) and too fast clock.
I'm using stock LG rom unrooted, V10b. Android 2.2 FRF91 kernel 2.6.32.9.

[Q] Random Reboots?

Have you guys ever experienced your x10 randomly restarting itself? Sometimes when I'm talking on the phone or just have my phone lying on my bed, it just restarts itself. I doesn't bother me too much since it isn't that frequent, but it pisses me off when it does restarts while I am on the phone...
Does anyone know why it does this and how it can be prevented?
Hi shukla,
I've got exactly the same problem! Which firmware is on your phone? I've got the 026 on my X10i. I think it's the firmware or the new root method?!
If I'll find some time this week I would like to try some things out...Some other experienced that problems, too?
Regards,
Martin
I've had random reboots as well running 26 firmware (using the 3 step root method) thankfully never during a call last time was while in Toronto this past Saturday taking pictures with Vignette.
I'm on 024 (rooted).
I think I was wrong with my thoughts. Today I've read a lot about our problem with rebooting. Seems it is the Sony backup application. It is randomly accessing the SIM card and thats the reason why our phones crashes. Right now I am going to flash my phone again. I'll tell you some more details after flashing is done.
Ok, well it's not easy to fix that problem. Yesterday I flashed my X10 about 6 times. With original SEUS firmware and the problem still appears. Then I flashed with 026 debranded firmware. After that I rooted my phone with the doshaska.net method. After that I removed the restore/backup app from /system/app. The problem still appears till now - but not so often. In fact, I had reboots every minute, so my phone didn't came up. I really don't have a clue why it happen. Someone else got an idea?
Regards ,
Martin
The only way I could stop mine from rebooting was to remove SetCPU. Are you using it? If so, feeze it or remove it and see how it goes. I do have another problem now with the damn screen not sleeping unless i push the power button! Oh well, the joy of fiddling
Nothing out of the usual battery dain yet. I am running the branded Dutch t- mobile firmware. I'm going to root it soon.

flashing did not solve my problem at all, through SEUS or rooting method nope the problem didn't go
finally i removed my memory card and everything was fine
some things on memory card could cause reboot during calls or randomly, next time try formatting your memory card
hope it help someone
cheers!
luv my x10 though i ve also got iphone but i ve never looked back
Just curious, how hot is everyone's phone when it reboots? I've noticed my x10 doing the same when its running a little warm. It usually starts acting up when it's over 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Gitin thx..it looks much better now, however yeasterday I was carrying my x10(still with no memory card in it) in the pocket, it got pretty hot (most probably over 38 degrees) and it turned into this rebooting "mode"..finally I left battery for 20 minutes in cold place..x10 got back to normal..I think that random reboots are the matter of memory card issue (You have solved this problem) or/and overheating of battery - still couldnt find any clue how to ease this pain but read somewhere that Froyo for x10 will have this problem taken care of..
i think ( depends on my experiences) the telephone need to reboot coz one applications from SD card want to launch (send or receive) some commands from or to internal (built in memory).
that's means this applications needs to move temporary to internal memory just to execute this command so absolutely android system will restart to create virtual memory to this application to let it runs correctly
first it's better to remove backup/restore programs or make its runs manually, if you have another software need to save data to SD memory ,remove it.
it's better to launch applications directly from internal memory to win the time and performance but At the expense of the memory size
ps: all that explanations depend on the framework version.
sorry for complex explain but i don't have easy way to explain this problems
i suddenly have it now to, first every hour, now every 5 minutes, my phone won't start up anymore
sorry..bad news..its pretty cold here in Poland so battery shouldnt turn to hot that easily but apparently the problem is more serious..I have to admit that random reboots occur less frequently than before but that **** still hapens to my x10..after no more than 2 days I had gotten memory card removed it got back to malfunctioning again..
it really pisses me off that I cant enjoy this phone anymore..
android 2.1 or higher is my only hope..
if anybody solved that issue entirely..please, dont be shy, do not hesitate..help us, please!

i too am hanging on for the 2.1 update to hope it solves the problem. I've a feeling there's going to be a lot of x10s going into SE for a service though when it is released and doesn't solve the problem!
I'm not 100% but is this problem the entire phone powering down, or just the connection to your network, mine just loses its network connection and then connects again, over and over ........
there's nothing 2.1 update will do
as our phone was working fine when v bought it, its completely a hardware fault
ok do this...
1.take out sim
2.format ur memory card
3.repair through SEUS or root process watever..
4.turn on ur x10 without sim and leaving formatted card inside
it will still give u hard time u can try putting some video on ur memory card and try to play it few times, ur x10 will turn off and wont turn on until u take out battery for few seconds or take ur x10 in front of Air-Conditioner
as someone suggested in rooting thread to keep ur x10 in front of air-conditioner if u get errors while rooting or if rooting process stucks in middle
the same thing applies in our case...try using ur phone in front of A-Con it wont turn off
i tried with a new battery ...still the same
as i ve been repairing mobile phone from last 5 years, i opened my x10, took out the motherboard, took out all plates over IC's, cpu and cleaned it with acetone properly and heated cpu and whole board with Hot Air Gun...everybody who repairs mobile phones knows what i am talking about
still its the same....
still i am not saying i know everything, anybody knows what the problem is and suggest the overcome is most welcome
nxt few months gonna b really cold at my place...i definitely think i'll notice a difference as its really hot these days which is causing my x10 to die
I did experience this when I debranded my AT&T X10. I have since gone back to the AT&T ROM and have not had this issue since. My battery life has also improved. I did root and remove all the AT&T bloatware. I also edited settings.db to allow for installing non-market apps. This phone is very fast and smooth now with almost no glitches at all.
mine won't even work anymore..once per every 20 or 30 times and than it turns off itself very quick..I can't recharge battery, nothing..really hope that 2.1 will help somehow..I am thinking of getting back to very first soft that x10 was launched with..seriously I am sickin tired with that ****..

Hi, I have an AT&T X10 and wonder what you debranded your phone to? I debranded mine about a week after I got it to R2BA026 Latin America and never had any issue with rebooting.
Aside from needing to power off the phone to check for software updates (two weeks ago of course ) my phone has been up for +358 hours without an issue, and that's with installing the AmbientTime home screen several days ago.

[Q] Is Your x10 Getting Worse...?

Ok, this is not some whining thread about the x10, so if you want to whine, go somewhere else...
Now that's the disclaimer out of the way...
Is anyone finding their x10 is just getting worse on 1.6...?
I never had any real issues except the occasional freeze, which now seems to have partially resolved itself, but now the following issues are starting to creep in, which I have never ever had before (these have all started in the last week or so)
Phone will just hang up when I'm in the middle of a conversation
Mobile Data seems to just not want to connect/turn on
Widgets seem un-responsive - they often don't recognise that I'm tapping them
Phone reboots by itself
Incredible sluggishness (like 10 seconds to respond) to certain events
I'm not asking if you've had these kind of issues for ever - all phones seem to have some stupid quirk that stops them working properly (mine was freezes) - I really want to know if any one else's phone has just recently started to deteriorate on its own (I haven't dropped it, rooted it, changed it, kicked it or anything)
I'm just hoping that when my carrier 2.1 comes along, these things will fix themselves...

I've always had these problems since i installed 2.1, i've been waiting for it to go away Well actually I've only had the last issue, ie sluggishness
With 2.1, I'm sure that most of your issue will be fixed
I rarly get lagg; I only get lag when I'm running like 10-15 different applications as once!
Only thing that sucks about xperia though is that there is WAY to much BLUE on it
But I'm sure you'll be happy with 2.1
My main concern is that these things have crept up just recently... it's just odd...
CAnt connect through my PC anymore via cable, also very sluggish.

You're on 2.1 though... could be to do with your update - I'm talking about 1.6 just getting worse...
Unless, of course everything was fine when you updated, and now it starting to get worse...
I've had some unresponsiveness while clicking widgets or accessing the menu
Camera seems to be slower when trying to access
think so far it's all
Yeah, the same thing has been happening to me for the last couple of weeks. Phone has been freezing, acting oddly or slow, and rebooting on its own.
The big disclaimer here is that I'd recently updated a bunch of my apps, so I figured the issue may lay with one of those, and with 2.1 coming shortly (hopefully, Rogers!), I can't be bothered uninstalling then one by one to see if I'm right. If the issues continue post-2.1, then I'll have to start tinkering.

So 2.1 has finally arrived. After flashing it using the Global Flash-tool version as I have a Dutch branded X10i it seemed extremely slow, at first I waited and waited. No result.
After checking with 'Android System Info' and 'System Panel' the CPU usage is between 99% and 100%. Constantly!
It's strange that no process is using 100%, at some point 'acore' is using 100%, not all the time.
Is anyone else having the same problem? Lag anyone? Check your CPU usage!
I've all-ready re-flashed and rooted twice. Same issue...

[Q] Standby of death (aka SOD)

Hello all,
I would like all the users having the standby of death (aka SOD) to post here information about there phone (and only those information in order to remove junk content from the thread).
As a reminder, the standby of death is when the phone is in standby mode and it does not come back to life (whatever method is used - power button or menu button).
It has been reported that it is related to wifi and/or SD card used. Also, useing the stock SD seems to remove the problem.
Maybe this will help
Thanks to all,
mine:
firmware: 2.3.3 (XXKPE), had also the issue in stock 2.2.1
wifi: wep always on (when the problem occurs)
sd: transcend 8GB
no a2 sd
ok, so nobody cares about this...
Oh I care. I have same problem with two Ace now.....
I thought it was fixed in the new rom?
Samsung sucks big time.

i just learned about this issue. quite annoying.
any idea whether this is an issue with all Aces or is there a chance that getting a replacement will fix it?
i'm having trouble with SOD too.. and yes i have read that the trouble is when wifi is activated and ace is on sleep mode...
to prevent it i usually set my time out to 30 minutes when using wi-fi so when wi-fi is activated my ace won't go into sleep mode..
so the best way is that your ace can't be on sleep mode when wifi is activated
that's the best thing i could do to prevent SOD too..
I had this problem aswell on 2.2.1 that was with wifi with WEP on(only if wifi was on)
I have had no issues since upgrading to 2.3.4 (XXKPH)
My sdcard is a SanDisk 4gb
Hope this helps
was have this issue on 2.3.3, now i`m using 2.3.4 (XXKPH)...
and there was no problem till i get installed ELIXIR.
i`m didn`t delete this prog, i`m watching on`em
Bought the Ace in April, 2011. Just over a month later I was facing the 'SoD'. Since then, my phone's had its software upgraded, and the motherboard changed, but that has made absolutely no difference.
The service centre here just doesn't get. When I tell them to read about the problem online and that many users have faced/are facing it, they sort of shrug it off and tell me they aren't aware of it. From what I figure, they don't even want to know.
I am asking for a replacement - definitely not another Ace - but they may not do so until they notice the issue.
Believe this - I asked them why they carried out so-called repairs without detecting the problem, and I was told that the engineer did not understand.
Fantastic!
I'm experiencing SoD for the first time after I exchanged the framework.jar to enable overscroll glow on KPH.
Had no problems before, not even with Froyo. But it started yesterday after changing that single file, which was the only change I made prior to the SoDs.

[Q] SD problem is on my last nerves.

Hey, a few months ago, thanks to you guys, I got Prime v2 up and running on my optimus and ever since then it will occasionally freeze up attempt to restart and then lock up on the android screen and i have to take out the battery and restart it. What I'm guessing is going on is that the phone think the SD card (where it runs Prime from) is removed. When I had the stock T-Mobile software on it I always had warnings about the SD card being removed. Well the past few weeks this has been happening about 8-12 times a day and sometimes I don't notice it and my phone has been offline for an hour, missing calls.
Is this common? Is it a hardware thing I can fix or just a software issue I can fix fix with a ROM upgrade? I'm thinking of just flashing back the T-Mobile software but I really really don't want to have to reinstall and setup all my apps and re-enter all my contacts (Gmail syncing doesn't work that well here in China for some reason). Honestly the only thing that I need the ROM for is using my VPN because the stock won't do it.
could be some damaged / bent pins on the sd area
This is unusual... Never happened to me before
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
I also had some SD card and boot issues with the prime rom. Switched to CM7 rom a few days ago and until now it works flawlessly.
This is the rom I used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
This has happened to me twice, though I'm on stock 2.2.2. My phone is rooted and I use Link2SD.
The first time, I was listening to some songs when suddenly the SD card unmounted itself and the phone suddenly restarted from the Android screen, and got stuck there, same as you. The second time, I took my phone from my pocket and found it at the android screen, stuck! Both times, I had to take out my battery, and then switch on the phone again.
Both times, there is no reason for the phone to hang because it ran out of memory or something, because I clear unwanted background apps from time to time, and on both occasions, I wasn't running any apps that take up a lot of system resources.
Anyone knows how to fix this?

[Q] Galaxy S2 issues...

This is my second Galaxy S2...first one had a defective screen (white spot on gray colors), now I'm having issues with this one...
While playing games (any game pretty much), randomly the game "reloads" (as if I went back to the home-screen and then returned to the game, which in some cases pauses the game after the reload but in others the games just close themselves).
I'll be honest, after all the good things I've heard about this device I'm really confused how did I end up with 2 phones with issues this big (both were brand new, though the first one was on the store's display-shelf) =/
What I've tried:
Resetting the factory settings
Updating to the latest ROM available for my area (2.3.5 Vodafone Spain)
Switching to a newer ROM (2.3.6 Open Germany)
Problem still exists.
Could this be a battery problem? (the battery I have is still from the first phone so I can assume it's defective aswell, but wouldn't that restart the phone itself rather than cause the issues I'm having?) That also crossed my mind when once a battery widget I use dropped 20% during a phone restart...
Any ideas? Something I should try?
I'm really desperate with this issue since "no gaming" on this phone pretty much makes it useless...
Thanks in advance for any replies.

You have to change the screen timeout delay and or any timeout delays example your screen pattern or password. This is not a battery problem. The battery dropping 20% you obviously changed the current battery in the phone to a different 1. If you have to do this just clear the battery stats in CWM.
EDIT: There is nothing wrong with your phone its working perfectly

Tried changing the screen timeout today from 30 seconds to 1 minute, the problem still remains (no passwords/patterns are in use), while playing Asphalt 6 it randomly re-loaded again.
Just to make sure you didn't get the wrong idea, the issue is not that the display turns off (phone lock), the issue is while it's in use.
Did I miss doing something in your instructions?
CWM = clockworkmod? Doesn't that require rooting the phone? (mine is unrooted, only used Samsung official ROMs on it)
Can you give me the steps needed to clear the battery stat? (unless it's displayed right on the menu, then I won't need "tutorials" o.o )
Thanks in advance.

You're so right - absoluetly pointless device without games. Anyone would think it's a phone if we weren't sure - thanks for the clarification.
I'm going to buy a DS for my telephone needs.

People don't buy a 450€ phone just for calls or internet. Phones were good enough for calls/internet/videos/photos 4 years ago.
