Anyone any idea? Both in terms of hard facts and your own personal opinion? Is this gadget good enough to replace your iPod?
I've always been a happy iPodder. I just ended my multiple Nanos for the Classic particularly because of the fantastic battery, ability to take lossless well and extra storage. But this damn Classic keeps deleting everything and freezing. And the size just kills me. I actually can't put it in any pocket without it being summoned by gravity. Wreaks my head.
So how does are little baby compare? I have to say I've been very impressed with the sound on this phone, and if you use POWERAMP, it dramatically improves the sound capabilities, it is irreplaceable. However, the battery on our phone isn't the best, and maybe it couldn't handle the responsibility as DJ?
Battery life is about 9-10hrs using Music....
So i guess an iPod is much better than this
I am more than satisfied with the X10 Mini as a music player.
Using the PowerAMP and Spotify (an Internet music streaming service available in some countries, Sweden for one).
Connecting the Mini with the home stereo as well as using it's built in speaker, when showering (as an example).
Outside, at work and in the car, am I using a Samsung SBH650 Bluetooth Stereo headset.
Filled up the 16GB mSD card with just above 10GB of music without even having the iTunes installed on the comp
Not knowing what special demands a DJ needs, though
good playback quality small and lightweight are it plus but its qons is the small battery life

I am considering if I should get hero or not.
Before I make my decision, I would like to know how the mp3 player is like on Hero because I want to replace my mp3 player with the phone.
I've used HTC Diamond before and I was very dissapointed because with the earphone they gave me, the sound quality was horrible (the usb cable) and the battery life on that device is pretty bad I'd say. Lastly, the external speaker was extremely bad compared to other devices such as Iphone 3G or sonny ericsson devices. I guess HTC doesn't make a good speaker? I'm worried since this is another HTC device so could you guys give me your opinion about the mp3 player on Hero?
1. Battery life when using mp3 player
2. sound quality through headphones and the external speaker (quality and volume wise)
3. mp3 player
Thanks in advance!
Only had mine a few days after coming from the HTC Magic so I do compare the 2 quite a lot, but here goes:
1. Battery life on the phone is pretty good for a smart phone and it has a better battery then the Magic, you should be able to easily get a full days use while listening to say 3-4 hours of music.
2. Firstly if you plan to use this as your MP3 player then I would ditch the supplied headphones and invest in a decent pair. This usually applies to all headphones that are bundled with devices though. The headphones you get with it are ok, but sound a bit tinny and if you like your music clear and bassy like me then you'll want a better pair. Some people don't like the sound the Hero outputs through the headphones, again with a decent pair I have to say I am pretty impressed and more then pleased. Volume is good through the headphones.
I don't usually play music through the speakers as I'm not one of those annoying little twats that sits on the bus playing his music for the whole world to hear but the sound quality is ok through the speakers. It loses quality obviously the more you turn it up and depending what your playing. Basically it's fine for a phone but you wouldn't want to play music to a group of friends for too long through the speaker.
3. The default MP3 player in my opinion is fine, does the job well enough though there is no equaliser. Some people downloads different players from the market but I personally think the installed one is more then adequate.
Thanks for the quick and descriptive response!
I'm not sure if Hero is the phone I'm looking for.
The new Android OS sure does look sleek and refreshing.
Anybody know a good smartphone that comes with:
1. a nice mp3 player
2. good battery life (2-3 days at least with more than average usage)
3. nice and many applications
4. and 3.5mm headphone jack
I have been researching so much but I can't find the right one for me.
-Iphone's great but it seems too common around me.
-palm pre has a very short battery life I hear?
-Sonny Erricson's X1.. kind of outdated
I'm quite excited to see the new xperia.
I think Erricson makes great devices (mp3 player, external speaker, long lasting battery and etc). But does anybody know if the device comes with dual touch?
It is a bit off topic but I need help lol.
From experience of multiple smartphones, to get 2-3 days above average use you are probably going to have to get a phone which has a higher capacity battery available, but then these are usually 3rd party and require a different back to cope with the increased battery size. I tend to get about 2 days usage but a lot depends on how strong a data connection I have.
In practice I have used many WinMo phones and the Hero. Both have good MP3 players available with my current favourites being Nitrogen for WinMo and Meridian for Android.
Nokia E52 has small form factor and good mp3-player, and WAY better battery life than Iphone, any htc or winmobile
Hi,
I have had a HTC Dream for about 3 - 4 months and so far i've tried two bluetooth headsets with it.
Dell BH200 Bluetooth Headset
Pros: Awesome Music Quality, Comfortable
Cons: On answering a call it would disconnect and shutdown, making it useless for that purpose.
Motorola S9 Bluetooth Headset (My experience, not sure about in general)
Pros: Also has good music quality, Allowed me to answer calls, good call audio quality,
Cons: Not too comfortable but manageable, I heard (and experience) that it does not do well with moisture (sweat, etc), and most important of all it tends to stutter constantly. If i am streaming music (Over Pandora for instance) it stutters to the point of being unlistenable. Sometimes it has bouts of clear playing but no longer than 60 seconds. With WIFI off as is usually recommended, it's a little better as in the stuttering happens at 0:45 - 1:30 minute intervals.
So after this very lengthy explanation here's my question: Is there a bluetooth headset on this earth that will do at least the following:
- Play stereo music of at least decent quality over A2DP (Willing to compromise on quality for functionality)
- Be able to answer calls
- NO STUTTERING!!! even if only with wifi off. I can deal with having to turn wifi off but when it's already off and it still happens it's kind of annoying.
Thanks for any help i receive in advance and i do appreciate your feedback.
I've had good luck with both Jabra's BT3030 and Sony's DR-BT140Q headsets. The BT3030 is a dogtag-like device on a chain into which you can plug any standard headset. The DR-BT140Q is a more traditional all-in-one set with earpieces that rest against the outside of the ear.
I get almost no stuttering on either set with Wi-Fi turned off. The sound quality is good with both, though the BT3030 is better, with deeper bass. I've had the BT3030 for a few months and have had no problem answering calls. I've been using the DR-BT140Q for only a few days and haven't had any calls come through when I've been using the set, so I can't say how it will work. But I don't anticipate any problem, based on how well everything else is functioning.
Hope that helps!
I'm using an iTech R35. It's a small thing with a mic, buttons and a 3.5mm jack.
Once in a while (2 to 3 times an hour) i gets a small lag but it very rare. Works greta for both music and phone call. I'm using sennheiser px200 with it or my blackberry bold 9000 headset.
I'm using a Jabra BT320S and it works very well.
No problems taking calls, pretty decent audio quality (even with original earbuds), and almost no stuttering with WiFi off.
I know these are a bit old now, but I would imagine that whatever Jabra replaced them with would probably be ok too.
Hope this helps.
Just bought a Jabra BT3030 today and VERY impressed with it so far.
I have experienced absolutely no stuttering so far and all the buttons work perfectly.
The sounds quality is very good with some really good bass added to it which I always found lacking with the wired headset.
I also like it as it can be used with normal headphones if I wish, although the included earphones are very good... and most important of all... it looks cool!

Jawbone Icon
Ok I have have a few BT headsets with my G1:
Plantronics 855 - excellent noise canceling and stereo, the ear loop was rather brittle and broke on me. I lost it . . . . highly recommend
Plantronics 655 - worthless, no wait . . . I can ebay it.
BlueAnt Z8i - had to reconnect after each recharge, low audio levels, callers that were used to the 855 complained about background noise, when it got run over I smiled
Jawbone Icon - Wow I have had it for a week and I love it, it stays connected, it is loud and clear, the noise cancellation is almost as good as the 855 (I thought it would be better than the 855 because of the Jawbone name). It has caller ID (number only, but hey not bad). It took a week to get invited to the MyTalk website, but I love the Dial2Do app (just a shortcut using the multifunction button to direct dial the service as far as I can tell). Still playing with Dial2Do, but I think I am going to load the voice dial app next. Only 1 week, but I am still finding little supprises.
I was on the fence and almost got the voyager pro, I have never seen a bad review of that one. It came down to the fact that I keep it in my pocket and I figured that I would break it quickly.
It is amazing what a BT aficionado one can become when the ear speaker on you G1 dies. . . .
free memory?
Before you shell out big bucks on a new headset, how much free memory do you have? I have a cheap southwing 202 ($20 from eBay) but it works just fine when i have more than 20mb of ram available. Running widgets and unused processes take ram away from big programs like pandora. Get a task manager from the market and clear up some ram, then see if that helps first.
Wow,
I apologize for not responding earlier. A few days passed and so i kinda assumed that i wasn't going to get a response. I appreciate all of the replies.
And now my very late responses:
@Highvista thanks for the recommendation. I may actually consider the BT3030.
@benoitb85 thanks for the recommendation but due to it's similarities to the BT3030 i may just get that instead.
@Stooby couldn't find the Jabra BT320S at first. May just have to look harder ^_^;;
@philje123 hah thanks that kinda reinforced my opinion of the BT3030.
@LiquidCool1 wow this has to be one of the most varied reviews of all. I appreciate the variation and it gave a few choices to look at ^_^.
@Bigt2003 Yeah, i'm pretty paranoid on my phone when it comes to RAM so i keep a vigilant watch on the running apps. but it's strange as the BH200 worked fine but the Moto S9 didn't .... figure it's just the headset.
Thanks for all your help and i'll let you guys know how it turns out ^_^.
im running a crappy nokia bh-601 and it works great when im at home or in the car (aka stationary) it gets.... i dont wanna say choppy. lets say the lyrics go "living is easy with eyes closed" (yes good song) if im walking/ jogging it will cut out at certian moments but continue the song on point ie. living is.............easy with eyes...........closed.
i should also note that this doesn't happen with calls
SK01
I bought SK01 bluetooth headset for 20$ on ebay and I've shown them to all my friends, so far 5 people have bought them..
highly recommended!

totally comfortable, loud and clear, and it fits in helmets for the ski/snowboarders out there!
best 20 bones you'll spend!
PS, I've owned the motorola s9 set and it sucked, 2 pairs I went thought... My ears hurt and they die if show water to them... sport my ass.
I went out like 20+ times snowboarding with this set in my helmet and in -20 degree C.. never a problem...
They seem to work best on 2.1 roms... not sure why, 1.6 roms will work but after answering a call you might need to power them off and back on to get the music to stop skipping... they work like a charm in 2.1 roms tho..
EnjoY!
I got samsung sbh 500 - despite design disadvantages (must worry about two plastic elements that just like to disappear) it's one of most "well-sounding" headset - especially for music (I've tested plenty of them including almost all jabras)
I bought a pair from an ebay seller called "artyguru" (hxxp://stores.ebay.co.uk/Artyguru-Superstore) Brand I'd never heard of: "Bluedio" model number AV890, They cost about $10 (delivered) and I was amazed by how GOOD they sounded when paired to my G1. My son was jealous, so I bought HIM a second set, to use with his iPhone 3GS. Again, great music quality. The (tiny) BT module features two buttons, and two "rocker switches" - "Take Call" and "Play/Stop" buttons, and "vol+/-" and "advance/regress track" for the two-way rockers. One of my better EBay investments!

These problems are not necessarily with the BT device. There are some serious issues with BT on the Dream (all Android mostly) CM and TeamDouch has solved most of these issues with CM6.
I have the Jabra BT3030. With a little bit of hacking you can get this BT Necklace. It sounds great. Answers and stays connected. Very little skipping (unless in a 2.4Ghz busy area, lots of wifi, mobile wireless phones, wireless mouse...) I use to have pitch problems. When the phone was CPU busy, the music pitch would get higher and lower. (Well documented on Google) Since CM6 I rarely have problems with BT.
Where you are is important.
I've use an Altec 903 and Motorola S705 and had very different results.
The Altec sounds pretty good. But if I get away from anything around me, like in a parking lot, running outside, even walking in the gym away from any equipment or walls, it cuts out a LOT. It seems to need something to reflect off of, or I need to wear the G1 above elbow height. Armbands are good.
The Motorola is rock-solid, scary so. But sound quality is marginal.
Run a 2.2 ROM and use the DSP Manager to get some bass into it, and mild compression if you can bear it.
From playing around with my Xperia I noticed that it had a great looking music player, so I thought I'd give it a proper spin today. I've been on the lookout for something to replace my old Creative Zen for a while and I must say, I'm very impressed.
I wouldn't call myself a full-blown audiophile but I'm definitely quite fussy about sound quality. I was initially quite surprised at how good the Xperia S sounded, but didn't quite believe it at first because I've never had a good experience with mobile phone audio. However, having just tested it against my Zen, I can confirm that it sounds very good indeed.
There is perhaps slightly more hiss on the Xperia (only audible at high volumes), but the bass in particular sounds a lot deeper and more detailed, and I'm also starting to notice other little details of the music in the background - always a sign of a good audio player.
Better still, it supports gapless playback, which is something that very few media players seem to have.
Anyone else using their Xperia for music?
I really think they missed a trick though. The should of supplied the phones with decent headphones like they use to.

By the time they release their LiveSound they'll properly add it to their latest shipments

I think it's because the eq. curve is quite flat(so you can hear more detail, because all frequencies have the same intensity), and the impedance is high (so less level pressure and more dinamic)
Remember sony is one of the best home audio constructor
Which independance do you mean?

How does the battery do when playing MP3? The reason I've never really used my phone for music is because the battery already struggles to make it through the day, so playing MP3s through it as well just makes things worse.

Not a big hit, really! The big hit comes from me fiddling with the display all the time to switch tracks

Depends, if you stress the amp with high impedance headphones you'll have battery issues, but normal buds it wont be a problem.
The sound quality compared to my Cowon i5 mp3 player is very dull!
Cowon has a nice sound output, but telling it is VERY dull is a bit over the top ...
sony devices always have a clear output also when there is a lot of bass the higher tones do not get lost.
Its not over the top, I tell it how I hear it.
Tried it with cheap-ish Klipsch in ear buds, over ear Sennheiser HD 25-1 II & Grado SR60.
I wanted the phone to perform I have no reason not to but unfortunately it doesn't compare.
I have a set of PXC 250-II with noise reduction ( bass is enhanced ) the phones sounds very good...
better then may desire ?
Yes.
Better then an Ithingy ...
Yes.
I do suffer bad battery life .

Most likely the drain is caused by the EQ.
Pity most headphones only come with specialised controllers for iSomething and not Android devices
I dont think the drain is the EQ. I've tested it with three players and its pretty clear that the drain is the headphones.
This is a mobile phone, most people will be using Earphones or small consumer headphones. As such the amplifier in the phone is designed to power such things. If you plug in larger headphones which take far more power to operate(4mm driver at 150ohm vs 40mm driver at 300Ohm!) you will see a battery drain.
I use CX-300II's when I'm out and about and they're a great mix of value/sound quality/power consumption. Worth checking out.
I've had the cx300 II's. While they sound good they broke fairly quick. I think after about 5 months use or so. Problem was with the cable.

3rd set, so yeah. But they've lasted longer than any other pair I have used. The cable is thinner than most but far stronger than many other brands.
I have noticed some definite battery drainage when using the MP3 player, but definitely nowhere near as fast as when doing something with the screen.
Having said that, the music player is so pretty I keep finding myself fiddling around with it, and I'm also experimenting a lot with EQs.
I have no doubt a Cowon player does sound better. I may actually buy one if I fill up my phone. But the Xperia still sounds a lot better than my old Creative Zen, and that until recently still managed to beat any other MP3 playing device I'd listened to, including the iPhone 4S.
I dont think its a very good music player. Before i get a text the music will skip. Also sometimes when the phone is playing music and asleep, when i go back in a open an app the player will skip. Not the best
Hi everyone, I hope I am not asking this in the wrong forum but I don't really see where else it would fit as I am asking specifically about android devices.
So here is my question: What android devices (tablets/phones/PMP's/TV boxes/whatever has android on it) do you use for your media needs (music/video/etc) and how have you configured them/what apps/mods/accessories do you use to get the best of what you use them for? Would also be interested to know how well you think they behave in what you use them for (note: only talking about how they perform for their media purpose here)?
Here are mine:
Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Purpose: Listening to music
Apps used: Sony Walkman
Mods used: Viper4Android; Ultimate Kernel (to have the Wolfson DAC enabled)
Accessories used: urBeats from my old HTC phone
Behavior: In my opinion it delivers a pretty good experience, the sound is very clear and no stuttering even on FLAC files and under heavy usage (gaming while listening to music) and it sounds "just as it should" I didn't even do much in Viper4Android because of that, I am mostly using it only when listening to some songs that I think sound a bit off on whatever device I listen to them.
Device: Onda v975m
Purpose: Watching movies, videos on the go (in the past also at home on the TV via HDMI but unfortunately HDMI is broken on android 5.x right now on this device)
Apps used: Kodi, MX Player and VLC
Behavior: This device behaves perfectly even if I throw some 45GB blu-ray iso files at it, not video/sound lagging issues, although the GPU sounds rather weak (being a mali 450) it still does a great job on video playback, so much that I would call this tablet a "media" tablet, I can agree it doesn't behave perfectly on other types of usage (although I didn't notice any lag even when playing some heavy games on it or it was so minor that I just was too concentrated at the game to notice so I really can't complain) it does seem as if this tablet was just made for exactly the purpose of playing video files on it. Also the sound is pretty ok in my opinion but the placement of the 2 speakers is really uninspired in my opinion (you can't really watch movies/videos in portrait mode so you will loose the stereo effect if you want to use the speakers) fortunately I don't use them too much as when I am on a train or at school or wherever and want to watch something on my tablet I use headphones so that doesn't bother me too much. About the screen I can say that it is a great screen (expected from a retina screen?) and it gives great viewing angles and great colors. Battery life for media playback is pretty ok, I get about 6-7H of usage out of it and that is more than enough even on the train where in worst case scenario the train is 1H late so the whole train trip ends up taking 7H.
Thank you for reading and I can't wait to hear what devices you use for media purposes and your opinions about them.
hi guys
I wanna to buy lg v10 probably the 32gb international version h960 one sim
but I have some concerns about this beast I watched many reviews and it suits my need I'm a heavy user use screen alot 4g watching movies games heavily Bluetooth music talking too much taking photos
I saw a lot of people complaining from battery life and some says lags in games
and I have question about price of external storage 200gb
and headphone should it be wire or Bluetooth or wireless one will be enough for hi fi thing
thank you ?

If u really want to experience the superior audio the V10 has to offer, use a very nice set of wired headphones. U can IMMEDIATELY tell the difference in audio quality once the HiFi is switched on.
When it comes to gaming, I don't do intense gaming on mine. I play casual games like Clash of Clans or something. I experience no lag. Battery life does suck in some cases. I've noticed that since I uninstalled facebook, my battery is amazing now. Easily lasts all day.

The only game I play is respawnable and some roms on mame, no lags by far.
The audio quality is best with wired headphones. I use a Lg Bluetooth Headphone and for me sounds good.
Battery life on this device it depends on how you use it, it seems you're a super heavy user, maybe the battery is going to be a problem for you unless you have the time to plug the charger for 15-20 min. twice a day...
