Does anyone know if the seido 1750 that fits in the incredible without an extended cover would work with thunderbolt? Would hate to have to dish out another 50 bucks on top of the cost of the phone for an extra battery. Would be nice to just use what I already have.

I think I read on Droid Forums that the batts are not the same design as the Inc batts. I might be wrong.

This phone is pretty thick to begin with, the last thing it needs is a thicker battery. I still can't wrap my head around how other manufacturers are able to put higher capacity batteries into much thinner phones, and HTC can't.
They want to sell more batts.

Yeah im not feeling a thicker battery and extended cover. It sucks that HTC puts together these killer phones but fail on battery size. My dinc lasts most of the day which is fine. I can only hope the tb performs equal on a smaller battery. I

Unfortunately, I don't think that the Dinc or EVO battery will work in the Thunderbolt.
Wirefly did a video comparing the Thunderbolt and the EVO and you can clearly see that the batteries are physically a different size.
The Dinc and the EVO do have the same physical sized battery, right? I know that my old TP2 battery (1500 mah) would work in my Dinc.
You have to understand, the thunderbolt is not running the old cpu snapdragon that's in the evo. they had no need to stick a large battery in a phone that's is designed around better power consumption vs the evo.

I have the stock battery in my Incredible and have managed to get pretty good battery life and still use my phone the way i want. Plus im never far from a charger. Im ready for this phone!

Yes exactly, the TB Snapdragon uses the 45nm manufacturing process ("2nd gen") as opposed to the earlier (also 1GHz chip) Evo 4G CPU. The EVO 4G Snapdragon is 65nm process and "1st gen". Comparing equivalent Snapdragons in that entire line up of chips between the 45/65 Qualcomm stated that change provides a 30% lower dynamic power consumption and a much lower standby power as well. The battery capacity reduction from Evo 4G to Thunderbolt is only about 7%. This guarantees overall longer times between charge with the TB (of course under identical use). Adding an aftermarket higher capacity battery will be icing on the cake.

EXACTLY! i have a nexus one and most people at my job have rooted androids as well and the biggest mutual problem for all of us is battery life. and to me thats the biggest flaw with android phones. i love my nexus one but the damn thing doesnt stay alive for a full 24 hours. just like the guy i quoted said an extended battery would be great. especially the 2750 mah battery im reading about. thats almost double the stock battery!

A lot of the problems with battery life on Android (IMHO) is the notification system and widgets. I have seen people get some pretty awesome battery life by turning off all notifications and not using widgets. However to me that negates most of the use of the phone lol... I've learned to live with the battery life issues, I'm usually close to a charger and will bump charge when I need to.
Now a 2750 mah battery would be ideal and I will take it...

i agree. whats an android without widgets? sounds like an iphone LOL but yea ive tried every possible combination to get my battery better and it still sucks. like you said im used to it now. i have a car charger and spare wall charger ready to go when i need them. i juss wonder with the mecha how much bigger the phone will be with an extended back to cover the extended battery

There should be an extended battery that takes up no more space. Then there may also be one that must have an extended cover and will be larger. We'll see.

I have a HTC Incredible probably the best phone I have ever had excellent battery life and amazing customization. I really like the thunderbolt. Any pro or cons other than the ones that every review on the internet tell me? Also would love your opinions on if I should get it or not.

I feel like this phone is a huge step up from my droid x and incredible. The extra ram and second generation processor makes this phone fly. After a few battery cycles the battery gives me an 8 hour day of battery life on heavy usage. I text and tweet all day and lots of phone calls

I switched from a iphone, at the time it was the best phone available so I thought. Anyway I love this phone my friend who works on network for verizon pushed me onto this phone as he was testing a protype and waiving in front of my face all the time.
Needless to say its awesome, but some of the build quality is cheap, aka the side volume buttons and top power button, not very tactile had them get jammed a few times and so on. Exchanged for another one cause of that and that one had a bum headphone jack. Just make sure you fully test the phone out before doing any rooting.
That being said the phone flys onces its rooted and the battery life at that point is actually really really good as far as I can see.
The Thunderbolt is literally the fastest phone I have owned. The screen itself is brilliant and beautiful as well.
Only real complaint I have of my EVO 4G is the poor battery life. Even though I am rooted with a great ROM and custom kernel for better battery, my battery life still doesn't come close to my Brothers iPhone4. My phone dies by end of the day.
I see the specs of the EVO 3D, having a larger stock battery, and dual cores should be more efficient on the OS, and this phone was built around Gingerbread that is better performance than Froyo.
So adding all that up, I hope to God this new phone has much better battery life ?

I am sure HTC is well aware of the bad press the EVO 4G got on release in regards to poor battery life. So maybe they worked extra hard to make sure the new EVO is improved.
Do you have the original specs for the EVO 4G. Be curious what HTC wrote down for talk time last year.

anyway this thread really isn't useful right now. Since noone really has the phone we are stuck with speculation and specs that can be altered heavily. In theory bigger battery plus dual core sounds like a longer battery life, we really won't know how it compares until release
I wonder how much the graphics will drink that juice. I don't know much about the 3D technology but I assume the graphics will be more demanding and graphics sucks so much power.

This was my thought, I mean 3D has to be graphics intense since it's essentially 2 pictures running side by side.
Also higher resolution. Dint really know if that plays a role though.

My understanding of the power usage of 4" of LCDs is like 3-5Watts so I assume that is not that demanding. The LCDs don't burn the battery but the back light will. Again this is my understanding but not based from my knowledge on phones, but that of projectors.
I wish I knew more about phone but I hated C+ programing. I only used it for a Mechatronics class, though it was fun to control the robot and use the technology thats found in $70k cars, It took me 2-3 hour to write the code for a clock cause I can't think like that. cant hit 00:00 or 24:00 and didn't know any built in codes. The code was only about 7-8lines as well so it was extremely small (and easy afterwards).

wtf are you talking about? C++? using a robot to program a clock? what does this have to to with the wattage of smartphone screens?
but anyway, The larger battery and dual core processor of the Evo 3D should definitely create a noticeable improvement in battery life. However i feel like 3D is going to seriously drain battery life though. Obviously its not a direct comparison to the Evo 3D but the 3DS is much thicker than the DSi (i assume that means more or at least the same amount of battery) and sports a 4hr battery life lol.
If your that concerned with battery life just buy extra batteries and charger on Amazon I have three. If you can afford an evo you can afford a ten dollar battery and a five dollar charger. Then it wont matter how bad the battery life is.

Why would you buy a phone if you feel like you have to buy extra batteries to carry around. Plus it has nothing to do with money its just the point that a phone should get you through the day

Phones have always had this problem. And I would rather carry a couple batteries around than constantly be charging my phone or not using it cuz I'm scared its gonna die on me extra batteries = no worries

that righ there is going to be the key. it's just like having wifi, BT and GPS turned on all the time n any other phone. your 3D usage here will be the key I'm guessing to your battery life.

I keep a spare battery in my wallet and battery life is a non issue to me. I usually have half of one left after a twelve hour day at work with pandora playing over bluetooth and the screen being on for 4 to 6 hours. Usually I'm looking at the news or using the internet most of the time it's on.
If swapping out the battery is too much work you can always get an extended one but if you're just completely against the idea period then you're best bet is an iphone with its permanent battery.
I have enough to worry about in my life to have to micro mangage my phone killing apps and turning on and off GPS and wifi with an extra battery I can just enjoy my phone.

Just was curious if anyone knew if the battery for the Rezound would be compatible with other HTC's like the Thunderbolt. Been searching but no real answers. I know battery life is gonna be horrible b/c i've been using the Incredible (original) for almost 2yrs and ended up getting a battery only charger swapping batteries. Thanks in advance!
I was wondering the same thing as I would like to bring over the Thunderbolt's Mugen 4500mAh battery. Although, it's one thing if the battery fits... but another all together if the antenna connectors on the rear panel will also match up.
Did some digging and found a couple of things. VZW sku ADR6425LVW. The OEM model number for the battery is BTR6425B which is compatible with the HTC HD7 and HTC Wildfire S. Couldn't find anything regarding the Thunderbolt although the battery model numbers were similar.

I can tell you for a fact that batteries from the bolt and rezound fit perfectly in each phone however one problem the voltage for a thunderbolt battery is 3.7 and a rezound battery is 3.8 so they don't match voltage wise.
I was also very curious about this. Was going to look for some cheap non-oem batteries like I did for the og incredible - i bought 2 1400mah batteries and wall charger for $13. they lasted about 75% as long as the stock battery did-

Same thing I did. Got a spare and an old Eris battery with 2 charge cradles.
This may be a long shot but since the Rezound is based on the Sensation...I wonder if we could order OEM HTC Sensation XE batteries? The XE did receive a bump up to 1730mah but the difficult thing is they are only sold in Europe.
It would be a nice OEM upgrade if we could get our hands on them.

This is incorrect. The voltage of most, if not all, mobile phones is 3.7v. The Rezound is no exception.
The Thunderbolt battery will work, but there are different part numbers. I suspect that this is due to the Thunderbolt battery being slightly longer. When I put it in vs the Rezound extended it fit far more snug. Doubt it would matter, but there is a difference.
I am using both batteries daily. I start my day with my Rezound battery and when it dies I put in my TB battery. Its only a 1400 mAH, but it'll get me through those times when I'm not near a charger. One thing the TB batter does when in the Rezound is it grays out the battery icon on the notification bar with an exclamation mark over it. Despite the warning, lower voltage or whatever, it has worked fine and I have not noticed any performance issues.

Weird mine says 3.8, Id rather not have an error I think it would bug me even if there were no other drawbacks. I wont use a big extended battery. I need a spare battery and a battery charger soon I just dont know if I should wait or grab some thunderbolt battery's, I guess when charging my phone 3 times a day becomes more annoying than an error icon I will do it.

Anyone else think it would fit based on the pics?
If those pix are accurate, I'm going to guess it won't fit because that battery looks more square as opposed to the Rezounds more rectangular shape. But if you have free returns, what the heck.
I searched far and wide for batteries from other devices that could be compatable. Only other I know of is from the Tbolt. The Sensation (including XL & XE) definitely will not work as the dimensions are completely different. The Evo3d is kinda close though.
I emailed that company and they would not be developing a slim extended battery for the Rezound.

That would be great if you can do that for everyone. Companies will say they won't be developing for lots of reasons but number one is no access to the particular phone for testing. This just might be their r&d down for them.

I'm pretty sure the Evo battery is the same as the OG Incredible. I'll find out Monday if they work. Largest slim battery I've seen for the TB is 1700mah

Just FYI guys...
All lithium ion batteries in use for cell phones are 3.7v nominal. (voltage under moderate load, which is about half of rated capacity of a given battery... this is where we got the 3.7v rating standard) When fully charged the battery will be at 4.2v with no load. No phone actually puts enough load on the battery for it to read 3.7v until the charge is depleted enough. In fact these batteries are safe to discharge own to 3v (the real 0% empty for lithium batteries) but the minimum operating voltage for these phones is around 3.5v (which is about the 15-20% mark of the standard discharge curve for lithium ion) So the whole "never completely discharge your phone battery because it is bad for it" is bunk. You can't completely discharge the battery and 15% is a safe discharge level for the battery.
Also the mAh rating for a lithium ion battery is usually calculated from the empty 3v mark to the full 4.2v... So unless the phone batteries are calculated from the 3.5v mark then we can't use the full amount, but bigger is always better regardless. This fact is why I am wary about the off brand batteries that claim to have 100-200 more mAh than a stock battery. Because if the stock batteries are rated by usable power (4.2v-3.5v) and the off brands rated from the unusable 3v then the 100-200mAh difference is misleading as its not really usable. That difference is easily in the 15-20% range that would be left over in a battery only discharged to 3.5v
Maybe we might have a 3500mah batt for the rezound!!!!
I have been a little disappointed with the rezound's extended battery and have had good experiences with siedio batteries on the Dinc.
I called siedio and they said that they wont be making an ext batt for the rezound. So in my searches for a battery i came across this

I sure wouldn't mind an extra 750mah on my rezound.
I just got a call back from Seidio tech support.
They told me that the batt works but doesn't register on the batt meter.
He said he actually had it in his hand and was testing it in a Rezound but he didnt have an extended back so i dont know if the verizon one will work.
He also measured the batt and said it is just under 1cm thick.
He said the phone powers up and seems to be working but he doesn't know what the long term performance would be like.
I guess there is electronics in the batt that communicates with the phone to track batt life.
Oh well don't know if i want to take a $70 chance with this.
It would be great if someone out there who has this battery could verify it.

you will notice though that the "Wh"(wattage hours) do not match up(Rezound's being higher) so even though the Seidio one is 3500, it'll perform closer to a 3000 in the Rezound.
additionally, since the battery is not intended for the Rezound it has the potentional to do damage to the Rezound.
back in my Galaxy Nexus days, we found we could use Galaxy S II batteries in it. one of the GN users gave it a go for awhile and the SII battery ended up shorting out his device somehow & he had to get it replaced.

yes, a MyTouch 4G or Thunderbolt battery will work in a Rezound.
you will notice though that the "Wh"(wattage hours) do not match up(Rezound's being higher) so even though the Seidio one is 3500, it'll perform closer to a 3000 in the Rezound.
additionally, since the battery is not intended for the Rezound it has the potentional to do damage to the Rezound.
back in my Galaxy Nexus days, we found we could use Galaxy S II batteries in it. one of the GN users gave it a go for awhile and the SII battery ended up shorting out his device somehow & he had to get it replaced.

Keyword - "potential".
It doesn't hurt to ask as someone out there may have tried it with success.
The Rezound or any phone does not have a WH rating. It has a continuous current rating. I don't know about the ratings of these phones but i would assume that the rezound is higher so, with voltage being ~ equal, the power dissipation would be greater.
The battery rating is not dictated by the phone. The battery WH rating is a function of the current/voltage and the dissipation time of the battery and independent of the device consuming it? So a 3500mah battery will deliver "X" mA's of power but for less time than in a mytouch due to the higher current draw (X) of the rezound.
In other words a 3500mah batt will perform like a 3500mah batt regardless of which phone it was intended to be used on.
Did you every buy a Thunderbolt extended battery and try in your rezound? If so does it fit with the Rezound Extended battery back?
guys i just traded my thunderbolt in for a rezound. like a damn idiot i shipped theTB's 3500 extended battery back to verizon but before i returned it, it lasted the same amount as on my TB. im gonna try and get verizon to ship it back to me because this rezound extended battery isnt as good.

Yes. I have the OEM Thunderbolt extended battery (made by HTC) in my Rezound right now. In fact, I've had it in since I bought the phone on ebay over 2 months ago. The previous owner had the OEM Rezound extended battery and back at one point, but lost the extended battery. So he substituted the battery with the extended battery for the HTC Thunderbolt. It has the exact same capacity and dimensions, but is black instead of red.

I tried my OEM thunderbolt battery in my rezound and it showed the battery indicator grayed out. Didn't show how much battery life I had/had left. And it didn't charge at all.
So I would wait until someone confirms that the seidio tbolt battery works in the rezound before buying.
Just buy the HTC extended battery for your Rezound. It lasts me 12-16 hrs of heavy use.

"heavy use" varies from person to person. for me the HTC extended battery lasts 3 - 4 hours "heavy use".
i'm probably just going to order that mugen 4000mah battery.
It's official, it does NOT work
Based on encouraging info here and in other forums, I decided to try this. I ordered the 3500mah battery for the Thunderbolt made by Seidio from Amazon. It came with the Thunderbolt extended battery back (which you do not need) and the battery, in a clear plastic snap-together case.
The battery does indeed FIT inside the Rezound using the extended battery back that I already had from buying the Rezound extended battery from Verizon. The Rezound will power on and will work with this battery, BUT
1. The battery icon on the notification bar will display a strange symbol, where it does not seem to understand the current battery charge level. A workaround would be to load Circle Battery Widget (free from market) which did seem to report an accurate battery level.
2. The killer - you cannot charge the battery using your Rezound, or a Rezound external charger. I plugged in the Rezound to a micro USB charger that I normally use and it looks like it's going to charge for a couple seconds (solid amber LED) but then it starts blinking alternate green and amber on the LED. This means there is a battery issue. Left it plugged in for several hours and the battery did not increase its charge. Also tried removing the battery and using an external charger I had for extra Rezound batteries, and it would not charge in there.
I packed the battery back into its plastic case and returned it to Amazon. They accepted the return and refunded my money.
Disappointing... The stock Rezound battery is useless. Even with an extended battery I have to baby it, turn off 4G and keep WiFi and GPS off unless I need them. Occasionally bump charge it or try to keep it above 70% for several days at a time or else it starts discharging at an alarming rate (dead by noon). So I have chargers next to my bed, in the car, and at work. I miss my old Incredible - with the extended battery I got all day even with 5 hours of GPS during a round of golf and some Wifi at home or work. Boo!
What the hell is wrong with your phone? To be fair, today was a light day with only 3 and a half hours of screen on time so far. But still... No reason the extended can't last the day.

Keep in mind everyone's experience will be different. Most people forget that Android is constantly looking for the strongest signal. The one thing you can be sure of is that everyone's phone will discharge at a different rate for that reason alone.
Beyond that you have to consider cpu speed, app configuration, memory leak, phone configuration, and a whole myriad of other factors that can contribute to drain.
I had the extended battery for about a week. In the areas that I live/work, it performed only marginally better than the stock battery. This was most likely due to how I had my phone configured (mostly conservative towards the end). However, for myself, if I feel I have to run this beast of a phone on minimal settings, there's no real point in having it. I made the compromise to return the extended battery and just buy additional chargers. Indeed, I have one on my nightstand, in the car, and on my work desk. The only time I'm really without a charger around is on the weekends when I go out at night. The stock battery performs fine for those purposes.
I will continue to monitor these threads until a suitable extended battery seems to give the majority of us the performance we need.

For the record
I've used this particular HTC Thunderbolt battery in three different Rezounds, with no issue. It seems to perform equal to the Rezound Extended Battery (both 2750 or 2700).
The part numbers on the battery are THE SAME. So at least for the normal extended battery, they (if part numbers being the same means they are the same) have no compatability issues.

I've been using this in my Rezound for a few weeks now.
So ANYONE getting an Extended Battery for their Rezound, and need a little more juice, GET THIS BATTERY! It's $4! It's a perfectly good 2750 extended battery (completely legit) from HTC (not some garbage third party). They're dumping them as a result of overproduction I assume.
It's worth charging one of these up, and keeping it in your glove compartment for a rainy day (that's where mine is).
Everyone. Should. Get. This. For the price, I don't know how you couldn't. It's just that the HTC logo is upside down from the Rezound's (which doesn't matter).
So as an Extra extended battery, it's 10/10.

I got the OEM Rezound extended battery yesterday. Full charge, lasted a decent amount of time. But nothing great.
But I was on 3g, and did stream about 20mins of video. And I surfed quite a bit. But my evo 3d with the 4000mah battery kills the rezound.
I will have a better feel for the battery now that I am back home and on wifi, then on 4g at work. Thats more of my real life usage.
Anybody came across a good one?
Also interested in this as well.
Looks like a 2100 or 2500 will fit in our phones. Problem now is finding a battery that actually has that capacity mAh in it.

Which will be very hard to do, let me know if you find anything worth mentioning and I will as well as I am currently in the same boat and am looking to purchase the highest capacity battery available for stock cover and am doing some research myself
Seido innocell 1900 mah Slim extended battery. Works like a charm however not much more batterylife then the stock battery but atleast its better in the long run

Personnelly, I spent $10 and bought 4 spare batteries and a battery charger and I just replace on the go.
Most of these batteries they sell on Ebay are overrated in the actual mah capacity they claim. There is a way to check the mah with a meter and a small load and a timer but to me its too much trouble.
Some are good some are not. You are essentially buying a pig in a poke. They are cheap, not doubt about that.
Here is a lot I bought out of china. They sold these in a lot of 10 for $39.00 with free shipping. Took about two weeks for me to get them.
So, that's about $4.00 each. They seem fine.

As long as you don't charge them, they will have a long shelf life. Once you charge them then you should use them by cycling.
I only use 2 for now, rotating them out. If you play games or watch movies, the battery drains fast. I know its a pain to pop the back off and swap em but at least you can do it.
The new EVO 4G LTE, does not come with a removable battery. Once you run it down, it has to go on the charger. One feature I don't like about it. However, I think HTC is moving in that direction on all their future phones.
I like being able to change the battery. I used to listen with headset all day at work with my phone in my shirt pocket at the factory. I would have to swap out two to three batteries a day. I had a stack of them on another HTC phone I had.

I really hope your wrong. Although I wouldn't doubt it. Real stupid move. I'm gonna say it might really hurt them financially. This is one of the many reasons I've stayed away from that i-crap out there. I would have been one of the first on the waiting list to get the new evo 4g from sprint. I've been following that phone a long time. No quad core and lack of being able to replace a battery, no thanks.
I like extended batteries no matter how good the stock one is. My evo 3d stock battery is way better than when I had my evo 4g with stock battery. I'm rooted and runnin swagged out with the kernel it came with. I get 1-3 days of battery life with my stock evo3 battery. Can't wait till the end of the week for my new ext battery to get here. I'm really hoping I see 2-5 days or more. Not many phones will do that. Not even those precious i-devices those sheep love.

I'm going to guess and say they will fit just fine. I have the same charger and their pic shows it being flush with the top of the chatter. Plus it doesn't come with a extended battery back cover. Factory evo 3d batteries are 1730mah and those are 1900mah. Not much difference there. Its not like its a 2500-4000mah battery.

There is no being wrong about it. The phone is out. This is easy to prove.
I've played with it. The HTC rep at Radio Shack had one.
The battery life is tremendously good on the phone especially giving the size of the screen. However, like I say when its dead or almost there, it has to be on the charger. You cannot simple just swap in a fresh battery. Ain't happening on that phone. And I agree, big mistake for HTC - I reckon they're counting on the fact they've add enough bells and whistles to get you to overlook this.
I've always had an idea for a battery. Why can't they make a battery like a capacitor. Where it would charge up in like a nano second and discharge very slowly as needed on demand. That way, when you need to charge it, you'd just walk over the charger, zap it for 2 seconds and unplug it --- good to go for another few days.
Also what every happened to fuel cell powered cell phones? They told us that one fuel cell would power the phone for 20 to 30 years without ever charging. Science fiction I guess.
Even the new film type screens they're working on will require power. Even if you can get the screen as thin as a dollar bill and flexible, its still going to require a battery.
