Done a search and can't find a solution...
With the 'easy to press' buttons on the HD2 the phone screen keeps powering on in my pocket (I use phone lock to stop auto dialling).
This is draining the battery...
Any way to stop this happening? Say, have just the power button only turn on the screen, after a long press for example???

Try settings / system / keylock settings. There are options to set the buttons as non responsive except for the power button.

I have this same issue and I've got a stock 3.14 tmobile rom but when I go to settings / system /, there is no options for keylock settings. is that on a custom rom?
+1 for this
From new my phone used to have the option of locking all buttons except the power key ... until I did my first hard reset, then it vanished! I would have thought the settings app would have been in the ROM, so restored after the hard reset, but obviously not.
Anyone have a cab for it or care to extract it from their HD2?
<quote>Try settings / system / keylock settings. There are options to set the buttons as non responsive except for the power button.</quote>
Nope, no such option on my HD2...
Seems we need 'keylock.exe'
Anyone got it and know if it will work in an HD2?
Ok, at least I know I'm not unique now...
i've installed Hd2ProximityScreenOff-0.2.cab which I guess turns the screen back off quickly if an "in-pocket" button press brings the screen to life. (can't confirm what happens in my pocket, but seems to do the trick in my hand)
but I'd really like to know if someone knows how to get to this keylock setting

Take a look at my signature. I'm using NRG ROM, which I highly recommend.

ahh crap, noob mistake. sorry.
any chance you can dig up where "settings / system / keylock settings" points?

i can install the stock rom update right from tmo, and install cabs and crap, but not yet ready to make the leap to customer roms (or android for that matter)
try pocketshield software. it has feature that turns your screen immediately off if its in pocket etc with proximity sensor, also its great and cool.

Not sure if anyone can give some advice on this...
If the battery goes dead or if for some reason the phone has to start up,
It goes back to inital config!! - ie: - tap screen to start, set up the phone etc...
all apps, settings etc have gone, as if its a new phone!!
Its highly frustrating and wondered if anyone can help.....
thanks
......just wondering, does the phone have a small battery that keeps its memory??
maybe that needs changing??
Try a hard reset.
how do I do a hard reset?
thanks
is this right??........
# remove the battery cover.
# observe that by the USB port, there is a small indentation. This is the reset switch access.
# Keep the slider closed.
# power the phone on.
# press the “talk” and “end” buttons; while holding them down, use the stylus to probe into the reset switch hole at a 45 degree angle to the major axis of the phone.
# when you get to the “press enter to reset the phone” page, press the center dpad
yep, thats right
didnt work,
when I reset or battery dies etc. It reboots back, as if its a new flash....
have you tried changing the radio and/or the rom?

The only way to get the phone running again was to install the original htc rom
And it has to be this one:

Thanks for the solution, now it works.
Hi all
the Tosh' TG01 has a lock button on the side (the power button) and doesn't need the slide-to-unlock-because-we're-pretending-to-be-an-iphone screen that means you effectively have to unlock the device twice every time you want to get to a text/call
How do you disable this?
I know you can because before I re-installed 6.5 (don't ask, Toshiba advertised an upgrade that wasn't) I had disabled this with advice that I thought I got from here, but now I can find no info on this here or on google.
so, how do you disable this annoying 'second' lock again?
help me xda-knobi, you're my only hope...

Here's my (simple) advice, but think twice because of possible unwanted commands on your tg01 while in pocket and getting an in-call or sms:
Go to windows/startup and delete autokeylock, soft-reset: here you go, no more slide lock...
Thanks great post and advice it was getting annoying!

Unwanted commands? that sounds ominous - I don't think this was the original method I used, but thanks!

See my edited above post, I suppose I made myself more clear...
Ah I see -
fortunately I am in the habit of locking the phone before putting it away, although I would rather not lose the auto-lock in call mode, or my cheek will be pushing buttons...
I you still want the phone to lock in calls, just use s2u2, and just set it not to lock in general, but to use s2a, and it'll lock during calls only...(by lock, i mean the one thing that'll actually respond to touch will be the hold/ignore slider...which is quite small anway)

Thanks, I'll try that. Although it annoys me that I know there is a method that doesn't need extra apps because I used it before...
would something in the registry disable this?

disable slide-lock screen:
Reg-key: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/LockScreen/Enable=0

That actually did the opposite of what I wanted, all that does is replace the slide-to-unlock with a very hard to see old style winmo unlock that made me think my phone was broken!
I'm trying to remove all "soft" locks so that I just push the power button to lock/unlock.

Well, so simple and so good. I was always wondering why lock/unlock software ( with sliders ) on WM6.5 eats irreversible almost 5MB of memory after first action. It never appears on WM6.1 where lock/unlock does not eat almost any RAM.
It turned out this switch enables old fashion ( WM 6.1 like ) lock/unlock .
Now I have additional 5MB of RAM and lock feature still active.
Thanks mirolg !

Having followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1544855 I have installed the ROM and rooted my pad however one thing that seems strange is the powering down/up
long press of power button gives 2 options power down or restart
a restart will go through all the boot up animation etc but if I turn device off I'm not sure if it turns off properly because when I turn it back on say an hour later there is no boot animation and my home screen comes up virtualy straight away
is this normal
I believe you need to go to setting, and disable fastboot. It's near the bottom at the setting page.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
You can use a program called "Quick Boot (Reboot)" it provides you with an option that will truly power the unit off.

Are you on honeycomb? I don't remember hc that much since after I bought it, I immediately install ICS on it. On my HUAWEI phone (froyo) it is on settings - applications. On my HTC phone (gb) it is on settings - power.
something has been annoying me for a while, I noticed playing around when I first got ICS an option to extend the period the phone locks itself when you switch off the screen, or if the screen goes off while you're still reading it, you can just press the button without having to go through the unlock slider menu.
Now my phone seems to be on the mode 'lock the phone as soon as screen off' and I can't for the life of me figure out where the option to change it is, I have looked in EVERY settings menu.
please tell me how where this option is because its something that is really bugging me!
thanks

in that menu, the options I have are, screen lock, owner info, sim card lock, make passwords visable, device admins, unknown sources, trusted credentials, install from internal storage and clear credentials...no option to change lock time ?

Hi am going to presume you are on a stock ICS ROM. This happens on stock ROM's if you are using any type of the screen security features. Try them all, you will notice it auto locks after even seconds of sleep. Taking off any of these features and waking your phone back up, your phone resumes as to where you left it. To my knowledge you need a custom ROM to amend the time it takes for the phone to assume it's lock. Im guessing there is a patch or something out there that can add this option though.
yeah I am, and you're right that option becomes available when I select pattern unlock, but is not available with the stock slide to unlock. How would I go about adding this option then?

Just about to hit the hay, so i can't find a solution right now but i know that Miui ROM has the option you're looking for. Allows you to set whether the phone locks when sleeping or stays on your current activity whilst sleeping :good:
the problem is I'm on a locked bootloader any way of adding a patch to add the option without changing the rom?
appreciate the help

That's not a problem for MIUI :silly: it works on both locked and unlocked. Thank me later :good:
Since a few days my S3 is opening the home screen itself, so basically the same action as pressing the main button of the S3. It does that especially after a fresh start for 2-3 minutes in an interval of 10~ seconds and afterwards randomly. Surprisingly this doesn't happen in fullscreen games.
There is no black screen or any pause, it simply changes the the homescreen in a normal way and I have no idea why.
Does anyone has an idea what could cause this problem?
I removed a few applications recently like Link2SD, SDBooster and Volume Locker. Are the removals maybe related with this issue?
