Hi!
i've just flash open fire, after using CM7 for a long time
I hate the white bar on the top of the screen! how can i change theme or make it black? same in the background of sms..
is it also possible to install the fast button in the notification bar, like cyanogen?
no one know how to do it?
will an alternative launcher resolve my problem?
You will probably need a framework-res.apk from another ROM which is black (CM7's should work, but, I dont know 100%), pull the said file from your Openfire ROM, and push the new one. Ofcourse, you will need a bit of ADB knowledge for this.
As for power control in the notification bar, there are many apps claiming to do this on the market. Here are a few:
* Extended Controls
* Bartender
* Bar Control
* Power Control Plus
* Widgetsoid
* Quickdesk
thank you
CM7 framework-res will NOT work. OpenFire is 2.2, CM7 is 2.3. In fact, framework-res files arent even compatible with different nightly builds of CM7 many a time.
As for your question, you can try tweaking the framework-res.apk. open it with a zip file manager, and find the images in the drawable-mdpi or drawable-ldpi folder. find the image which looks like your title bar and edit it to your liking (paint, photoshop, watever). put it bak in the zip and save. then push it into the rom again.
the black statusbar should be called statusbar_background.9 png in cm7 (it is found in systemui.apk), take that and rename it to whatever the status bar is called in openfire and place it in your framework-res.apk/drawable_mdpi folder. then flash or adb push.

can anyone make a transparent status bar ?or do you know a guide and i`ll make one myself ,didn`t find one. i want for sense .
Manual method :
1. Pull the framework-res.apk from /system/framework
2. Extract the apk and find the drawable MDPI/LDPI which there is a many icons
3. Find all status bar icon
4. Edit in on Photoshop or any editor
5. Change the opacity to 50-80%(0%=Blank no status bar LOL )
6. Copy the png to the apk(ZIP not the extracted one)
7. Push it to /system/framework
8. REBOOT and PRAY
actually it's the basic method and old method without theme choser
don't forget to backup the original framework-res.apk or NANdroid Backup
blank status bar is good, shows only time and others status but what about metamorph ?anyone with photoshop wants to do this ?my laptop is not powerfull enough ,the rom is wildpuzzle so you can download the framework apk from there.
Look for the 2 Sense Themes - WildDazzler and AeroFire (It's listed in the Theme Thread, Just search for it). Both descriptions state they have Transparent Status bars, so, you can just take it from there, if you do now want to have the entire theme.
flashed them both and they are ugly
If you read completely what I wrote above, you can use the Status bar files from them, if you are unable to modify it yourself.
Well auleu let me know what you have in mind and i'll give it a shot
Like 3xeno said if you want to try it for yourself just edit the framework-res.apk by unzipping it, going to either LDPI, MDPI, or HDPI (doesnt apply since this is Wildfire).
Edit the status_bar_backround.png and any other status_bar_* related items.
Once done go to the root of the folder, select all and say send to zip. Make sure your file extensions arent hidden. Rename it to framework-res.apk
Now you have 3 options,
1. access phone through recovery using
adb shell, mount /system, cd /system/framework/, rm framework-res.apk, exit.
Then cd to your edited apk and then
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
reboot (dangerous option, try only if you sure you done everything correctly, regardless make a nandroid backup before doing so)
2. edit my aerofire zip by extracting it, removing everything besides the framework folder in the system folder, now copy your framework-res.apk to the framework folder, removing whats inside. Go to root of folder, select all, right click, send to compressed zip. then flash through recovery, reboot.
3. head to the uot.dakra.lt/ and run the framework-res.apk through it customizing what you want and then flash the resultant zip file.
Hope that helps
Does metamorp or Zip Themer work on Wildfire?? Tried them many time but couldnt bring them to work...any guides/suggestions ...
I tried, keeps rebooting, dont really have a lot of time to test as i'm writing an exam tomorrow.
Thing is i'm under the impression that it only works on mdpi devices, correct me if i'm wrong about this
Is it possible to make a transparent lockscreen with the same way?
I use DK Custom Froyo Rom.
A transparent lockscreen is in fact the exact same process, only difference is that you modify the com.htc.resources.apk instead of the framework-res.apk. If you want some idea on what needs modding, take a look at my aerofire theme mod, just extract the apk needed and take a look.
Just search the forum for lockscreen mods and you can do just about anything with it. That being said, widgetlocker? who uses that and why? i find it so frustrating due to (and i know this is a bit perfectionist or whatever) the 1 or 2 second delay that occurs between pressing the power button and seeing the lockscreen, i mean come on, sometimes it even shows the homescreen for a split second before showing the lockscreen and thats just not on for me
did any one tried that. completely transparent status bar???/ is there a flashable zip?? srry m no developer. after trying hundereds of roms m bak to kwbr. lol

Hello all,
I am modding my notification bar but I am not getting the expected results. So far I have done:
* Deodexed my Atrix
* Copied the framework-res.apk to my computer
* Changed the images using UOT Kitchen
* Confirmed the imagens where changed, opening the framework-res in my computer.
So far, so good. But when I put the framework-res back to my phone I can see the notification bar black (the new color I have selected), with all text colors I set but all the icons still with the default ones, except the battery one. How should I proceed to change this stock Blur icons? I have looked everywhere and I have not found anything about it.
Thank and Regards
Ps: My Atrix is Retail Brazilian.
before trying that you should download the app "widgetsoid" it lets you customize the app bar to your liking.
try a different set of icons, im using the gingerbread set and it works perfectly
Are you just copying and pasting the new framework-res over the old one or flashing it with CWM?
You need to flash with CWM.
I was just copying it over and rebooting the cellphone. I will test also with CWM!
Thanks everyone for the help
On every phone froyo and above, when you're on the phone, there's this green bar that moves across and fills the status bar over and over again. Is there any way to remove this or change it's color?

I've never seen that before.
--EDIT--
The status bar flashes green on the stock Photon ROM. Apparently it only does this when you have a call in the background and are doing something else. I was not aware you could do this on android phones.
For example, if you have WiFi on and receive a call (the 4G/3G/1xRTT radios are off during a call), put it on speakerphone, you can then talk to someone and surf the web (such as check on something for your caller)
Yes. This is known. But I didn't ask if you can use your device for other things while making a call.
What I asked was while in a call and the status bar is flashing green, can the flashing color be made to change to more match a theme? Can that bar be made blue or red or any other color? Can it be turned off? If so, how? Changing the color would be nice.
Is this another digging into frameworkres or is there an easier way? If this is a frameworkres thing, can anybody post details? And if it IS a frameworkres issue, has anyone made a good tool to work with it and if not a tool, a good roadmap for things to change? A tool would be nice and I'm guessing the android community might be developed enough that it's been done, hopefully?
I have edited this. You need to go into the SystemUI.apk.
1) Download 7zip
2) Install 7zip
3) Copy your SystemUI.apk to your computer
4) Open SystemUI.apk using 7zip (Open Archive)
5) at the same time extract your SystemUI.apk to your computer so you have the folder and archive window open side by side
6) In both folders, go to res/drawable-hdpi
7) Look for status_bar_background_animation1 though status_bar_background6
8) Change them in the extracted folder, and save
9) Drag the newly created images into the 7zip archive folder and then close it
10) move the SystemUI.apk to your sdcard
11) Move the file again to system/media
12) Change permissions by longpressing to RW-R-R
13) Move to system/app
14) Reboot, Enjoy!
Does anyone know if there's a mod available to make the status bar transparent on the Legend (CM7.1)?
I came across following site: uot.dakra.lt/kitchen but it looks quite complicated
1. Make backup of your SystemUI.apk (and SystemUI.odex if it is there)
2. Download file attached
3. Put that file (SystemUI.apk) into your /system/
4. Set permission to rw-r--r--
5. Delete SystemUI.odex if it is inside /system/app/
6. Copy/move and replace modded SystemUI.apk from step 3 into /system/app/
7. Reboot
Note:
1. I set the status bar background to grey colored when you pull down the statusbar to avoid the date overlapping with clock.
2. Notification icons will overlapped with centered clock when it is too many. Dont have much time to at least try to find a way to fix it. If you do have, please share.
Edit: Dont forget to do nandroid backup..
If you are looking for transparent status bar for 7.1..
You can always apply this.. TGF-Theme-Patcher-7.1-Final
Thanks for your replies!
I installed attached SystemUI.apk according to instructions. After reboot I had a black non-transparent status bar with centered clock.
TGF-Theme-Patcher-7.1-Final gave me a bootloop. Luckily I made a nandroid backup..

Black non-transparent statusbar is known issues with some launchers and there are several ways to resolve it.
One way is to use livewallpaer apps (the reason it become black is simply because your launcher didn't "draw" your wallpaper below that statusbar thus those apps resolve it such as walypyrus etc) but it takes very big memory.
If you use Go launcher, just enable the high quality drawing in preferences then restart your go launcher.
If use adw, it is the "wallpaper hack" setting.
I'm using Launcher Pro. Should it work with this Launcher?

Not sure for launcher pro but it definitely works for GO.

If you want to know if the mod will work in pro launcher, i cant say for sure but i think there is one option to enable high quality drawing as well for LP, you can try enable it and see how.
To make it even more complicated: I am now running CM 7.2.0 RC2
Has anyone managed to make the status bar transparent for this version?
Transparent status bar on Legend (CM7)?
I still do not fully understand the issue with applying a transparent status bar.
This is what I have tried so far:
- UOT Kitchen: uploaded and patched my framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk using Status bar mod. Resulting zip file has been installed with ROM Manager. (Option to wipe Dalvik cache was checked.)
- tried out several CM7 themes that include transparent status bar
- installed and applied MultiPicture Live Wallpaper
Nothing worked so far.
I am currently using Cyanogenmod 7.2 Nightly of June 3rd.
Does a rom need to be 'deodexed' to be compatible with themes that contain a transparent status bar?
And why aren't all custom roms just compatible with themes that offer transparency in the first place??

You cannot just simply take systemui and framework and mod it bcoz our cm7 are odexed. You have to de-odex it first.
One simple way is just take the apk i attached previously, push it to /system/app/, set correct permission on it, then afterward it will depend on which launcher you use. Can confirm it worked in latest nightlies cm7.2 using go launcher with high quality draw option enabled.
From my lovely nokia N-Gage
thanks Feed,
I have installed your SytemUI.apk and set correct permissions.
I also installed Go Launcher with options "High quality drawing" and "Support transparent status bar" turned on.
I have tried several themes with transparency, but status bar is still black.
Digital clock is now in the middle of sb though.
What do I do wrong?
Did you delete SystemUI.odex after you replace SystemUI.apk with mine? You have to delete that file (SystemUI.odex), maybe that is the cause?
It works!! I must have forgotten to delete the .odex file. Thank you so much for all your help!
I can confirm it works with Cyanogenmod 7.2 Nightly from June 10th.
It looks great with the Alpha 7 theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597008
I'm very curious to know how come your patched SystemUI.apk works whereas my rom is not deodexed?

Well, the simple version of explanation is, it is just the same case as when you install other apps (any apps) that is not odexed. .odex files containing some codes of the apps that is initial and will be loaded during certain stage during bootup thus make it faster for you to launch and run the apps. When you deodexed it, the process just combining/compressing/zipalining these two files (abc.apk & abc.odex) into single .apk file and basically everything inside it just pretty much the same as what is inside odexed apk version. Thats why it is still work even though all other apps is still odexed as your rom is not deodexed.
If you want to experimanting further, you can get some modded MDPI Mms.apk out there (that have conversation list of sms for example), copy and replace Mms.apk into your /system/app/ and delete the Mms.odex, then you can understand what i said.
Just can't get this to work
I deled the odex file, but the status bar is still black...
I use Go Launcher and I set the options: Hight Quality and Transparent Status Bar.
PS: I'm using CM 7.2 final
Are you sure your theme supports transparency?

feed3 thank you very much for this.... very helpful. If it is possible could you upload a version of this that doesn't have a centered clock? I have tried to do it myself but because the CM7.2 nightly's are not deodexed I am having a hard time.
Hi,
I'd appreciate your input on the following problem.
In custom recovery, I have installed the aroma file manager, copied the /system/app/systemui.apk to the sd-card.
On the computer, I have opened the systemui.apk with WinZip. I also opened a zip file that contained the battery pngs of my choice - I highlighted them and dragged them into the WinZip systemui.apk window (replacing the original pngs).
I copied the systemui.apk back to the sd-card, rebooted the phone into the recovery, started aroma file manager again, replaced the original /system/app/systemui.apk with my modified systemui.apk and checked the permissions.
I rebooted the phone. My new battery icon is there.
BUT where the wifi icon and the sd-card icon etc. used to be, there is a black field now - i.e. the icons are no longer shown, only black placeholders.
Any idea why?
What can I do?
Thanks
mary-lou
Have you changed the status bar bg by mistake? Also make sure that the battery icons are of same dpi as stock. Have you played with any other thing? (Transparency?)

Hi, I haven't change the status bar bg and I haven't played with transparency.
BUT I tried again.
This time I used another set of icons (the icons do have the same size as in my first attempt, though), again I copied them from a zip into the systemui.apk -- BUT this time I used 7-zip (instead of WinZip). And it worked. No problems after copying the systemui.apk back to /system/app and setting the permissions.
I don't know if there was a problem with the first icon set or if WinZip was the problem.
Summing up, it is possible to replace pngs in the systemui.apk in an odexed system by just dragging&dropping the modified apks into the systemui.apk (with the help of 7-Zip).
Yeah, using 7-zip is mandatory while creating archives for android. It's the same with flashable zips. I found out that you even have to use the windows version, it isn't enough to use 7-zip in Linux.
