How much will SGS2 cost? When will it be available i stores in Europe?
Considering LG Optimus 2X or SGS2. Will of course depends on when SGS2 comes and how much it costs.
Edit:
04.03.2011: I've talked to Samsung Nordic, and they said that they expected the phone to be released in may.
Expansys have it priced up the 16GB model at £649.99 with a release date of April 18th:
Expansys.co.uk - Samsun Galaxy S II
But Handtec on the other hand display both a 16GB model and a 32GB model, the 16GB at £515.99 and the 32GB at £635.99, so I am assuming Expansys has incorrectly given the 32GB price to the 16GB model. Handtec have not released a date, but are taking pre-orders.
Handtec.co.uk - Samsung Galaxy S II 16GB
Handtec.co.uk - Samsung Galaxy S II 32GB
Pricey, but there is a lot of new, expensive tech in there (SAMOLED+ 4.3" screen, dual core CPU, 1GB RAM e.t.c) so I am not surprised. I personally am waiting for it to come out on contract, and although a couple of carriers have announced it (Three is the only one I remember), no one has announced dates or prices yet. Three have said it will be available on the One plan.
US Release?
Does anyone have any idea when it is coming the the US? On which carriers, how much, and when?????????????

i wouldn't wait for the USA release
i'll just buy it direct from Handtec.co.uk is a well trusted company
just like expensive... erhhh i mean expansives
I've ordered mine from Clove in the UK 440 pounds, since I don't have to pay VAT. Now the long wait until April/May...
Thanks l0st.prophet, i think now iam done comparing sgs2 and atrix.
I go for sgs2, handtec will probably get my money
Does anyone have an expectation when it will come to europe? Will it be released in Europe simultaneous?

they'l ship it to the us????? whats the with and without vat mean? (I know that vat is a tax, but do i have 2 pay it) basically which price will i be paying for the 16 gb from handtec and will they ship it 2 the us? will i be able to get android updates in the us if it is a uk phone? Will it have a carrier branding? (i no that its unlocked) will it be a stock touchwhiz 4.0 with no carrier crap?
last few times i purchased stuff online from UK i was charged the VAT even though they were not supposed to
i buy a lot of biking stuff online, and electronics
does anyone know any good korean retailers that ship these phones worldwide? (canada)
I hear the international sgs2 will work on bell/rogers/telus out of the box, that and the koreans seem to pay less for their gadgets.
i paid $500 canadian for the first sgs so paying £614 doesn't sound too appealing
Yes the galaxy s II will work on aT&t, rogers, etc.
It supports 850, 900, 1900 and 2100 MHZ HSDPA bands, which is sexy.
put one in my shopping cart at handtec.. just about to pull the button to order.. i am in the u.s.a showing no vat. 446.89 pounds with 2 day shipping to the u.s
i got the original galaxy s i had from them (no u.s. 3g unlike this one) and it worked fine and i sold it on ebay for about 5 bills.. not too bad loss.
pulled the trigger.. now the wait
Just confirmed purchase on handtec for the 16gb version...so excited. This should complement my samsung focus nicely
Engadget said it's supposed to be available this month. They said UK released date was leaked and is March 5th.
But who knows, maybe this is completely wrong. I hope not. It's now or never...literally. If it ain't coming out soon I have to choose something else.
Samsung hubs
THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!! I live in the US and want to buy the Galaxy S II. Is there some store that I can buy it at for around $500 (like $600 max)??????? (THATS USD, NOT POUNDS!!!) I want to buy it unlocked and sim free. Any ideas????????????????????????
Also, if I buy the international version, then use it in the US, will ALL the hubs work? How will I receive updates if I'm in the US?

Same here. Forget the Atrix
Now I just need to come up with the funds to place an order. All these phones are getting expensive on my my poor student salary.
I have been trying to find some sort of verified info on availability over here in France, but could not find any, does anyone know anything about it ?
I am sure that Sammy is in the process of tying the knot with the like of SFR, Orange & co over it, and I have the feeling that it is going to take forever (at leat 2 months) before putting my greedy hands on one.
Merci de partager l'info si vous l'avez

It will probably cost $550 like the unsubsidized price of the T-mobile Vibrant at their store when it first came out. I don't think it will go over $600.

Where did you see March 5th as an ETA by the way? I have only seen April so far.
This version is Orion, Tegra version if it exists has a different model number (think it was i9103).

Hi, I am a complete noob.
I am in india, but will stay in US for 4 years starting august 1. So, where is is better to buy this phone? In US or INDIA?
Also, if I buy a unlocked phone in India or US, do I have to root it? In other words, is a unlocked phone a rooted phone? Or is unlocking and rooting different things?
unlocking and rooting are 2 different things.
Unlocked = You can put any sim card in and it should work (almost) anywhere in the world
Rooted = You have administrator level access to all of the files on the phone, so you can edit, delete or add as you please
Almost guaranteed, the phone will not be rooted when you buy it, especially if you are buying it new. If you are buying along with a specific carrier's plan, chances are it won't be unlocked, but if you are paying full price (~$700 USD) it will almost surely be unlocked.
I'd advise buying the international version (there is no US version yet), because it will be unlocked and therefore work in the US with a US sim card.
international?
What is the international version?
If I buy a unlocked version, then after reachig US, I must buy a FREE phone from ATT and use that sim card in the galaxy s2 ... right? Will it work?
Also, i cannot use T-Mobile since they use 1700 frequency for 3g, and galaxy does not support it

The international version is the version sold outside of the US, mainly Europe and Asia. It has a exynos processor. The Indian version has a tegra 2 processor (which is a little slower). You should get the exynos version. But that's up to you.
Yes, it will only work on ATT. See here about plans...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166543
Prepaid will be $50 (no tax), but might get bad throttled speeds. Not sure on this though.
If you go the contract, regular post-paid way. It will be $40 for 450 minutes + $15 for data + $10 for 1000 text messages + tax = $65 + tax, with tax it will be about $75. This is if you are using an international version. If you buy an ATT version you will have to pay more for data.
Thanks,
How do i get exynos in INDIA? I want to buy from amazon, but they dont ship to india . Where can i get it?
Or, can I go to US, buy it from amazon, and buy a prepaid $50 plan with some cheap phone, and use that sim in galaxy s2?
Which option do u recommend?

Are you sure ? How come no one has seen a tegra 2 SII till now ? There's no tegra 2 SII. Devices with tegra 2 processor are not called SII. Maybe you are talking about this device, which is galaxy Z.

ImDonly1, You are an idiot. Please check your facts before you post something as stupid as what you did here. All galaxy s2 phones run on exynos processors.

well but in usa , you will get almost cell for free with better plan.
Good luck
hey friend, your options are just few and quite easy if you are set on buying galaxy s2 only.. see you could get in india for Rs.31000 which will be an unlocked s2 that u can later bring with you to US where u can buy a used or brand new prepaid no.. otherwise you could order from amazon using this link:
amazon.com/Samsung-i9100-Unlocked-Smartphone-Touchscreen/dp/B004QTBQ2C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310555675&sr=8-1
jst fill in the url, i cant post links yet
Its the Euro version/unlocked which should not be any problem also for u also and costs the same price... The only drawback i can think of is that wen you order from amazon you will not get a samsung warranty or be able to see the set before giving away you hard earned bucks unlike if you purchase from authorized dealer anywhere in india with warranty.
The third and last option you have is you could use your current phone for next month or so and wait till s2 is officially launched in US so you could get a nice 2 year plan which would be your last but relatively more efficient option since you mentioned you are surely going to stay for 2+ years..
The choice is yours and yours alone! but watever you decide, you sure will forget everything once u have the S2 all to yourself.. Sometimes its pays of to be patient! all the best buddy
I wont buy from amazon, because no warrenty. So, i have 2 options left...buy in india, or buy directly from ATT, after they launch.
Calculations ...
Option 1 (buying unlocked phone)
Cost of unlocked phone - $700
Cost of plan - $50 per month in prepaid. Assuming 2 year stay ($50 * 24 = $1200)
Cost of some dumb phone for prepaid - $10
SO total cost is 700+1200+10=$1910.
Option 2 (buy from ATT)
Cost (expected) of phone - $300
Cost of plan - $40 for voice, $10 for messaging, and $25 for 2 GB per month data plan. SO totally $75 + taxes = $80. For 2 years contract - $80 * 24 = 1920
SO total cost is 300+1920=$2220.
Thus, Option 1 is cheaper. Also in option 1 everything (including data) is unlimited .
Why is prepaid so much cheaper than postpaid!! Are there some disadvantages in prepaid that I dont know??
I heard that in prepaid, the 3G data speed will be slower that postpaid!! Is it TRUE !! ??
if i weighed my options like you then id definitely pick option 1 since in prepaid you can always keep a check on how much you are spending whereas i have noticed with postpaid ppl tend to get carried away even if they swore they wudn't at start.. just my opinion. and one more thing you should consider is that most places you would spend time usually has wifi connection and you can prioritize in s2 so that it always uses a wifi connection wen available over a 3g one as i have been doin.. will save a lot on data costs if it is not unlimited.. plus speed is generally faster i am guessing from my observation.. haha so u now know wat u must do!!! that is get a set in india and have no regrets after but i am still a new user of smartfone having switched from blackberry after many years.. it would be wise to wait and see what other users have to say as well since i am a very new member here and my advice wont seem much helpful..
^thanks
You ment internet is faster in wifi over 3g or internet being faster in postpaid over prepaid?
wifi over 3g.. prepaid vs postpaid i have no clue! btw the at&t plan as of now is only for samsung I997 Infuse 4G.. be warned that they are totally different phones and dont evn think of it being a substitute for S2.. i am not aware yet of the exact release of S2 in us officially with or without a plan so it would be wise to look into that otherwise i recommend you buy a warrantied s2 from india itself asap.. good luck buddy
I currently have an HTC Vision/G2 (CM 7.2) from Canada that I bought off contract and am using on ATT. I have a special plan from ATT that I don't want to give up - an old 'smartphone' unlimited data plan that is discounted a further 15%. So I am essentially paying $12 a month for unlimited internet. I've used well over 80gigs some months. ATT doesn't seem to be able to recognize my phone type.
Anyway, my current phone is getting a little long in the tooth, so I want to get an S3, but I don't want to get it from ATT on contract and don't want to screw up my data plan. I'm also unsure if I really want the ATT version or the International version, since the international version has a quadcore but lacks LTE. I am also concerned I will miss the physical keyboard.
So my three questions are:
1. If I go with the US version, where can I buy it from other than ATT and not have ATT change my plan?
2. Do I lose a lot with the dual core rather than quad core?
3. Is there a better Android phone I should be looking out for - and maybe one with a keyboard?
Gracias.
As far as buying the device, you can probably buy outright from att even, or look to eBay, Craigslist etc etc.
And to be honest you are not losing much missing out on quad core the second generation s4 inside the siii can go toe to toe really well against the exynos quad ,and you get much better battery life plus lte. And on top of that you get a whopping 2gb ram on the s4 version vs international. IMO all these gains make even the dual core siii a good buy against the international .
As far as your last question, not really, the siii is literally the cream of the crop right now, the best nothing even comes close (maybe the HTC one x) but after having owned both I like the siii much better . The siii is likely to remain the best for a while till at least November when we see the new nexus .
Hope I helped, good luck!

What are you looking for? None of the US GS3's are quad-core, Wolfson DAC, etc. They're OK, but audio is not in same league as international i-9300. You can get international i-9300 on Amazon, Ebay, Newegg.com, a few others. They are not "officially" sold in US, however. Only the carrier versions are official here.
I just bought an unlocked i-9300 for $519 at Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176412
Other prices I've seen are higher, typically $550-$650.
HTC One on AT&T: $199 w/ contract & available April 19th! (Preorder begins April 4th)
http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=23994&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=36239&mapcode=consumer|wireless
Beginning April 19, AT&T* plans to offer the highly-anticipated HTC One® smartphone to customers for $199.99 with a two-year commitment, for the 32 GB memory variant. AT&T is the only U.S. wireless carrier at launch to also offer a version with 64 GB of memory for $299.99 with a two-year commitment.
Customers eager to reserve their HTC One will be able to pre-order at www.att.com/htcone on April 4 starting at 1:00 p.m. CT. Only AT&T offers a free** HTC Media Link HD wireless HDMI adaptor*** (a $90 value), which lets you wirelessly share content from your phone to your HD television.
**A $90 value. Offers ends April 18, 2013. 2-year wireless agreement with voice & data plans or Mobile Share plan required on each. Other charges and restrictions apply

So if your pre-order then for $199 with 2-yr contract you get the HTC One with 32gb of storage and wireless HDMI Adapter, whereas with the Galaxy S4 you only get 16gb + No HDMI Adapter.
Looks like a real opportunity for the One to shine and win back customers / market share for HTC :victory:
Glad the earlier report of a $250 price was completely wrong.
Heres a demo of the HTC Media Link Wireless HDMI Adapter being offered if you pre-order before April 18th

What does it matter 200 or 250 when you are paying so much for 2 years? Anyway they will reduce the price after a month or online sites like Amazon, best buy will offer for less. Hopefully these crap contract process ends soon and just sell phones like laptops and other electronics.

Would have been a nice opportunity for AT&T and HTC to offer the One at a lower price (say $199) than the Galaxy S4 to gain market share, but still a great phone.

Not on Sprint, it was shown @ $199. I stay away from the big greedy ones (AT&T and Verizon).
It's not the carrier's fault. The phones are legitimately getting more expensive. The MSRP for the S4 and HTC One are higher. They are both gonna be $249 on contract. The only one who can pull a $199 still is Apple. Nokia is stuck with exclusivity and probably eats much of the cost when they sell their Lumia 920 for $99 on AT&T. Honestly the new crop of phones are minor upgrades and unless you are a spec and benchmark whore, the extra cost doesn't net much compared to getting a much cheaper last gen phone like the One X or S3. 720p vs 1080p very minor for phones. 8MP vs 13MP (or cough 4MP) marginally better (or worse). Last year's dual/quad core phones vs this year's quad-core/octa-core phones, the difference is imperceptible like the S3 vs S4, or still poorly optimized like the Xperia Z that runs like a dual-core.

HTC said the unlocked developer edition with support for AT&T LTE will be priced at $650 in the United States, and developer editions tend to be more expensive than carrier editions. The iPhone 5 16GB with AT&T LTE is $650 from Apple. So why is the One $250 on contract and the iPhone 5 16GB $200 on contract? These new phones are not more expensive. AT&T just wants more money.
i think 199.99 would've been a perfect price point for the 32gb version. For 249.99, the general public will more than likely pick the s4 or the iphone at 199.99.

I guess you haven't heard but the S4 is starting at $250.
And I'm pretty sure that means 16 will be $250, 32 will be $300 and 64 will be $350.
Also iPhone starts at 200 with 16 being lowest memory capacity. So it goes 200, 300, 400.
The HTC One with 32 will be $250 and 64 will be $300.
Hopefully they'll go with memory capacity being only $50 apart instead of the current $100 apart. >.>
So HTC is actually the one with the best prices here. So with your logic actually that means the HTC One is more likely to be picked by the general public. (if only that we're the truth!)

I know the US (and Canadian!) market prices are still very much perceived based on subsidies, but really, we need to look at the cost of devices on an unsubsidized basis if we want to compare Oranges and Apples :=)
The US pricing for *unlocked* iPhone 5's (and this is some 6+ months after release), is:
16GB - $649
32GB - $749
64GB - $849
So you need to compare the HTC One Developer unlocked at $650 to the $849 unlocked iPhone 5. I presume the AT&T "no contract" price for the HTC One 64GB will be the same $649. Seems pretty good value to me!

Im fully aware that the s4 will be starting at 250, hence why I said the public will be more likely to pick that when it's the same price as the one regardless of the storage. The majority of people aren't going to pay attention to the storage but moreso the brand of the phone and the price. Also why would att price it at 250 when sprint is pricing it at 200? not good for htc.
AT&T to sell the HTC One on April 19 for $200, pre-orders start April 4
Earlier we reported that AT&T's version of the HTC One would be going on pre-sale sometime this week, and the GSM carrier has finally revealed its official plans: the flagship HTC device will be ready for pre-order online starting April 4th. Both the 32GB and 64GB models, which will be $200 and $300 respectively, will hit retail store shelves on April 19th. The carrier will also offer a free Media Link HD to sweeten the deal, though it appears that it's only a part of the pre-sale and won't be available to customers who wait until the 19th to grab it.

Very excited to see they have the 64GB ready to go at launch! Coincidentally travelling in the US week of the 22nd - yay!
Well guys like every year let me ask the question:
Who is pre ordering/ buying one lol?
I just went to preorder only to find out the only colour available in 512gb is black, which I hate so now I have to wait damnit.
Something interesting though is on Samsung.ca it lists the processor as 7nm which im hoping is the new exynos 9825. This would be awesome since we should be able to unlock the BL unlike the crappy snapdragons. I also chatted with Samsung online and the rep really didnt want to confirm it was but did eventually say yes she thinks it is. Of course their reps arent exactly tech savvy or have a great track record for accurate information so i take it with a grain of salt but it would be nice even though Ive seen a few websites say snapdragon 855 so who knows.
A trip to the Samsung store and a quick boot to download mode will confirm this

Well guys like every year let me ask the question:
Who is pre ordering/ buying one lol?
I just went to preorder only to find out the only colour available in 512gb is black, which I hate so now I have to wait damnit.
Something interesting though is on Samsung.ca it lists the processor as 7nm which im hoping is the new exynos 9825. This would be awesome since we should be able to unlock the BL unlike the crappy snapdragons. the reps only want to entertain pipe dreams so that you may dive into purchasing one.( but if it is true then that would be great!).
i am not planning to buy one yet. i want a laptop( a really really good one) and if a buy a note 10+ it has to have the BL unlockable. so that means usualy to buy international full price upfront.
but i am secretly rooting for the CDN carriers to have provisioned exy's.
if they didn't, it gives me more reason to hate their guts even more than trump and the bad exchange rate and duties between the US and Canada.
edit
so according to this:
https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/qualcomm/snapdragon_800/855
the 855 IS 7nm. so i wouldn't keep my hopes up.
It's already been stated its 855 Snap

I just got a new laptop about 2 months ago so gave me enough time to save up enough to get a new Note 10 plus outright. I think my S10 plus 128gb was about the same as the 256gb Note 10 which is a little odd and the 512gb is only $1600...not going to complain.
wow, the uk gets the 5G already for preorder.:

Not that I saw definitively anywhere other than today on some of the retailer websites. but i went to the samsung store and they did say snapdragon unfortunately. I will say this the Aura Glow looks absolutely sick in person way better than on video.
I.iterally looks like chrome.

Best buy Canada lists it as SD 855+
Both the SD 855 and the new Exynos chip are built on 7nm architecture. Not sure why it would refer to one over the other tbh...

SD 855 is also manufactured as 7nm
Also the samsung US website says is 7nm

I pre ordered mine from Best buy but I'm with Telus and they're on a "Give you less for more" rampage with their new plans. It's freaking highway robbery. My monthly rate will go up by $50. So I'm not sure what I'll do.

I ordered a Aura Glow 256 GB Note 10+. Used my SPC discount code to knock $146 off the total which is decent. I still have a ceramic S10+ 512GB and never come close to using all the storage so the 256 wil do.
BTW! Fun fact. Samsung in the US was offering $600 trade-in for the pixel 3 XL before launch. I tried to to order from Samsung.ca and guess how much my Pixel 3 XL is valued at?... $130CAD yup. You're seeing right. Furthermore the 3XL is not even an option. I put my IMEI in the pixel 3 slot. They really don't give 2 ****s about us Canadians. ???

I've been waiting for the Note 10 for so long, then I saw the price. I've been buying Samsung phones for as long as I can remember, and I think I'm done wih them. Their phones became waaaay too expensive.
I'm looking at buying the Exynos version. This would be my first time buying an unlocked international version of any device. Does anyone know if I will lose any functionality. I've been doing some research, and I see some reporting Samsung Pay issues in Canada, when buying an Exynos version of the S10. Is this a common issue with Exynos versions in Canada?

One of the main reasons to buy exynos would be to root it... If u root it then no samsung pay.... I think it should work otherwise

$139.89 x12 months is still a lot of money. I guess I have to pick my poison. Not sure why Telus is adding $300 on the price of the phone tho. Wish I could file a ccts complaint about that. It's highway robbery...

If it was the 855+ that would be better I suppose.
And yes all it says is 7nm why they would not mention exactly what chip since they are both built on the same architecture makes no sense. Unless Samsung didnt provide that information because even they were not sure at the time what they were going to do when the information was sent out lol.

You will lose a few things, some of which are fixable once rooted.
Wifi calling will not work on rogers out of the box
VoLTE will not work
No carrier aggregation
Samsung pay may likely not work even if not rooted
Also given i have had mostly exynos over the years but also have had rogers snapdragon devices the signal strength is always better on the rogers devices by a fair bit pending where I am.
