Keyboard backlight turns off too fast - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I have the Xperia Mini Pro U20I and the Keyboard backlight turns off too fast! Anyway to turn it off at 1 minute?

Echo 600 > /sys/module/keyboard/parameters/brl_timeout
Should work

It works sometimes. I'm using terminal emulator for those commands. Am I doing something wrong? Do you know of any app that'll do this?

Did you find a way to keep the keyboard light off? I tried changing this parameter to any parameter from 0 to 600. What happens is that after reboot this file gets overwritten and reads 300 again. Should I change permissions and leave it read-only?

adb shell
echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/msm_pmic_misc_led.0/brightness
you need to do this each time you reboot
you can also do this with root explorer
go to /sys/devices/platform/msm_pmic_misc_led.0/
press and hold the file brightness till there is a popup choose open with text editor
and then just put a 0 in the file and save it

The echo 600 is not working anymore even when I reboot. I used droid explorer too.

Droid Explorer.
And how does one get it back? I tryed it and got the Android default lockscreen but did not like it. I want the HTC one back. I made a backup of the file and copied it back, rebooted but still im on the android lockscreen. I had to chmod 777 the file to delete it. Do i have to chmod it back to whatever it was? and in that case what was it hehe
I'm using Droid Explorer with Froyostone V1 on my HD2; can't seem to delete the file? No error message but just stays in the directory. Any ideas?
Ok, post above with CHMOD set me searching, and figured out how to open the unix terminal in Droid Explorer and I entered "CHMOD 777 /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk" and enter, and then closed the terminal window, but still won't delete...sorry but used to playing around in Windows and have to admit this is the first time I've seen a Unix terminal...
How do you guys delete the File from there?
I've tried several times but it fail every time...
You have to use a rootexplorer and mount the System as read write able.
Subfs App can do this.

I don't know. The problem is that you need write access to the system folder to remove or rename the file. I use normaly the App SUBFS it is a rootexplorer. The best is to search the market for a rootexplorer.
Cool, that was easier; didn't find SUBFS but the app I did find worked a treat (AndroidMate). Thanks...

Just be aware that if you delete HtcLockScreen.apk (renaming it will work as well) you will loose the ability to turn off your alarm if it fires up. The alarm set in HTC alarm app expect HTC Lockscreen to turn it off!
To have the original lockscreen and still be able to have alarms you need to use the original clock app. You can find it somewhere on the forum - once installed you can and probably should delete HTCWorldClock.apk.

Worked for me running [UPDATE][BUILD]25.09.10|Mdeejay FroYo Sense v. 2.3|2.10.405.2|[kernel: michyprima R0].
I find the HTC Lock screen has a nasty habit of unlocking before I get the phone out of my pocket wearing jeans or trousers. Well ... really it is me pressing a button and my fingers sliding vertically on the phone as I removed it This trick of deleting the package works a treat!

[Q] How to turn off auto dim/Brightness in x10 mini

hi... i have a sony ericsson stock rom can someone help me with this problem? my x10 mini is always in auto dim/brightness but when i go to Setting>Sound & Display>Brightness there are no Auto Brightness to check or uncheck on... can some one help me with my problem.. is so irritating... and i know it can eat some of battery power...
Hello,
you can disable the auto brightness only by disabling the controller interface of the sensor!
You can do this by editing the hw_config.sh file stored in /etc with root explorer
1. change the line: i2c_pwn_als with i2c_pwn
2. set permissions to rwxr--r-- (744) if they are changed! VERY IMPORTANT!
3. reboot and njoy the missing sensor ;-)
Bye Bye

[MOD] Lower Captive Button Brightness levels to Stop Bleeding

This is best done after you flash a ROM as you might lose some settings.
(I noticed my wall paper changed and i had to sign back into Google account)
---This framework-res.apk file is different for every ROM---
In order to lower button brightness levels You have to change values in framework-res.apk/res/values/arrays.xml and here is how (read whole post first )
These are stock HTC AMAZE values:
Click to collapse
Code:
<integer-array name="config_autoBrightnessButtonBacklightValues">

255

255

255

255

-1

0

0

0

0

0

</integer-array>
These are values should reduce the problem significantly
Code:
<integer-array name="config_autoBrightnessButtonBacklightValues">

190

190

190

190

-1

0

0

0

0

0

</integer-array>
These brightness levels are corresponding to the amount of light that light sensor is getting - the lowest value is while in the low light the highest when for example your phone is in direct sunlight. Brightness values are defined by numbers 1 is the lowest possible setting and 255 is the maximum brightness that can be set.
As You can see I was pretty aggressive with lowering these values and yet the buttons are still bright in every situation. You can set them a little bit higher or lower in order to suit your preferences.
Here is a guide on how to perform this mod on any framework-res.apk using apk manager (thanks for the guide goes to desean):
1. Download APK manager and unpack somewhere
2. Grab framework-res.apk from your phone under \system\framework\ (e.g. adb pull) and place it in the "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder
3. Run Script.bat and select option 9
4. Once done, go to projects\framework-res.apk\res\values\arrays.xml and edit your values as per first post.
5. Once edited, compile the apk using option 11
6. Qn: Is this a system apk. Ans: y
7. Qn: Aside from the signatures, would .... least. Ans: y
8. Prompt: In the apk manager folder u'll find a keep folder..... done then press enter on this script. Press any key to continue . . . You have to go to "keep" folder and delete resources.arsc because arrays.xml have been changed. After this You can press any key in apk manager window.
9. Once done, input 22 in apk manager and select "unsignedframework-res.apk" by entering the number that stands for it. After selecting it You should see in apk main window in the top right corner "Current-App: unsignedframework-res.apk".
10. Now press 5 to zipalign apk. You will find your completed, zipaligned apk under place-apk-here-for-modding\unsignedframework-res.apk.
11.Rename it back to framework-res.apk and adb push the file back to your phone
Click to collapse
To send it back to your phone
Prerequisites have...
The file you are pushing must be placed in the platform-tools folder of adb so if you are pushing file "framework-res.apk" this needs to be downloaded/copy and pasted in C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
1: go to run and type cmd (or just open your command prompt)
2: cd C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
3: adb remount
4: adb devices *if everything is set up right this should output a serial number*
5: adb push FFFFFFF.FFF /#####/###### *i hope my notes help here you need to put the file name in for the F(s) and in the pound signs you put the destination on the devices:
Code:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
7. adb reboot this is how you finish
Click to collapse
You have to copy the file to your phone with ADB or you will get a boot loop and have to re install your ROM.

im surprised not many have, i know leedroid has this under tweeks.
this is also great as you can edit the auto brightness levels, by lowering them you hardly notice a difference but you wont destroy your battery.

I just have this script run on boot
#!/system/bin/sh
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness
chmod 444 /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness
In my case it disables them completely but you can replace the 0 with a value that suits you best and that will be your maximum brightness and it's much less invasive of a change to your device

you would run it as an init.d script if your rom supports it, or there is scripter on the market which you can just create a new script and copy and paste it into it.
that or if your going to copy and paste it into a command prompt just remove the #!/system/bin/sh line.
keep in mind why I run this on boot is because it doesnt survive a reboot so it must be reapplied as such unless the rom you run has the number premodified before flashing (i assume, just a guess not a developer by any means)
I learned this trick way back with my EVO 4g and subsequent 3D I now ditched sprint and am on Tmo. I take no credit for it so share and share alike

So, it works when you change it but they are not retained after reboot? OK.
Write all the changes you are doing into a file named "07baclkight" (07, beacuse it will be the 7th script to be excuted, u can give any number.) and put it in "/system/etc/init.d". So everytime you reboot the changes are applied!
EG:
echo vm.swappiness=60 >> /system/etc/sysctl.conf
#changes value of 'vm.swappiness' to 60 in the file 'sysctl.conf'.

Here is the solution :
Tools Needed:
1. Hex Editor
2. Root Explorer
Steps to restore:
1. Using root explorer locate the /efs/imei/ folder. In that folder there should be a file called keystr. In my case the file was missing which is why the lock screen was missing and was causing my problems.
2. using root explorer create a new file called keystr
3. also in root explorer open the file keystr in text editor and type ON
4. Save the file and then set rw permission for the keystr file. Set 644 permission as rw-,r--,r--.
5. now go into hex editor and locate the /efs/imei/keystr file.
6. using hex editor the first two values in green should be 4f and 4e. all others should be 00.
6. make sure you save the file.
7. reboot.
Hope this helps you..if it does then dont forget to hit the thanks button
