Lol this is really easy, install easy battery saver from the market. I think you need to install easy task killer first. Then in the easy battery saver app, choose either general or intelligent power saving mode. There, your WiFi will turned off automatically when your phone sleeps. I use it and it works

backup apps and then do a factory reset?
Ye that should work!
Update: reset done still the same.. Repaired the phone via SE pc companion no luck, still WiFi won't sleep when screen's off...

last option left is reflash via wotanserver
same problem here, but the solution is simple.. really simple..
I take it you're on Inteli Mode right?
you just need to add the wireless widget then stop and start the wireless again
then your wireless will sleep when the display is turn off
cheers
recently flashed cm7. Really cool. This place has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this stuff.
I do have a few questions regarding cm7, however.
I've tried to search, i'm no stranger to forum etiquette. the search feature just isn't turning up any relevant answers to me questions.
Is there a built in airplane widget/app ? i can only access airplane mode via the settings.
Is there a built in task manager? (does it need one) and if not, would u recommend one ? Again, accessing running apps via the settings...
Can you freeze any apps? such as "talk" "voice dialer" "voice search" "torch" "news and weather" ?
This is more of a request than a question. But I would like an optimal setting for the display, as it's killing my battery. It's almost 50% of my battery consumption. I notice it gets brighter and dimmer sort of randomly... ? i know there are settings on this, but don't really know how to set them accordingly.
Thank you in advance for any help!

For app freezing invest in Titanium Backup Pro. To my knowledge that is the go to app for app management.
I have yet to find a task manager as I've been on cm7 for all of 4 days
As far as an airplane toggle goes, you can setup the power control widget to display the airplane mode toggle...which leads me to a random question: the **** does airplane mode do?
The random dimming is cause your brightness is set to automatic-- this can also be changed with the power control widget, which is built in.
Hope this helps!

1) Airplane widget/app: You can set it as one of the options on your notification bar by going to settings, CyanogenMod settings, Interface, Notification power widget, Widget buttons, and selecting Toggle Airplane Mode. That way it is easily accessible with only one swoop of the finger.
2) Built in task manager: no clue. I simply access running apps by pulling up by app drawer and selecting running apps.
3) Freezing apps: I swear there is, because I've done it... my mind is going blank. Will edit when my brain decides to work.
Airplane mode can be toggled by long pressing the top button of the phone. Task manager is not really necessary IMHO. As for freezing apps, titanium backup pro is probably the best for that. I think an app called bloat freezer existence off market but you might have to do some searching for that.

thank you guys. Found airplane mode, but i also found the toggle to turn off data, so that's basically why i wanted airplane mode. I live in an area with crappy service, airplane and data toggle help me extend battery life... basically so my phone isn't constantly working trying to find service when i know i don't have any... as far as Freezing, i have an app that can do it, i was just curious if it was safe to do so? Mostly the apps i had mentioned above. I don't wanna freeze something, then make my phone freak out. and have to nandroid or something.
and i just wanted a faster way to reach the running apps... i'm paranoid about apps running when i don't want them to.. lol
thanks for the help though guys. much appreciated.

Where did you find the data goggles? When I look it shows 2g and 3g and it is greyed out. I also used turning off data when not in use to save battery.
The data toggle should be right there on the same menu iirc.

I have ~20 apps frozen out of the maybe 50 I have and my phone is totally fine. So long as you aren't freezing something like your launcher, you're golden.
I feel the same way about running apps. Try advanced app killer. Its found in the Market, its totally free and easy to use. You can drag down the notification bar open the app and see exactly what is running and then kill anything you don't want running. There's also a one touch killer widget.

Ignore this...
Also for brightness control on the fly go to settings, cm settings, interface, status bar tweaks and check off status bar brightness control. Takes some getting used to but you can change your brightness by sliding your finger left and right along your status bar.

I just installed cm7 and am very pleased so far. However, I am noticing a significant battery drain compared to Blur. Is this anything anyone else is experiencing? If so, any fixes or is there something in the works from the CM team. Thanks a billion!

Give it a few days...the battery will get better. I would also suggest completely draining then recharging the battery until its been at 100% for 15 minutes.

Hmmm I think that is battery used while the screen locked and not in use. I've no idea how you'd regulate that other than turning the phone off altogether. Is phone idle draining more battery than your display? If so, that might be a problem.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
No, phone idle has never used more battery than display. So I guess that's good. Lol. I've noticed lately tho, that if I turn data on, I can literally watch my battery percentage drop. I've calibrated. And completely drained and then charged (uninterrupted) the battery.
I like cm7 though. Has lots of really cool features, but my main purpose for getting it was better battery life. ( which wasn't bad on stock) again, any and all input is welcome!
Juice defender pro. Watch it triple ur battery life.
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
How would that help if he has problems with data on? Not with it off. Also, juice defender does nothing more than turn off data connections when your screen is off or when you schedule it to. Its much more efficient to do it yourself.
It could be a problem with the driver. I have this issue too on my G2X.

Hello guys,
I have turned on the Call alert -> Answer vibration (so when awaiting for the receiver to pick up the phone you don't have to hold the phone near ear - that helps to avoid network)
I found out that the vibration is really weak, is there any way to fix it? A lil bit stronger would be nice.
Also the screen to me is a bit over-satured, any apps to calibrate the screen so it becomes a lil bit naturally? The natural mode is not good imho.
Regarding battery, what apps do you guys use to optimize the battery, what task manager you use to kill / block un-needed apps to run in backround?
Thank you!
Uppppppppp
Phone menu > settings > sound > vibration intensity > haptic feedback
Don't use task killers, they are unneeded on latest Android. Block app from starting with using "autostarts" app, requiring root. There are others, but this works well for me.

No this doesn't work with the answer vibration, only normal vibration when the phone is ringing etc.
Good question by the OP, I too would like a mod for this.

So you advice that using Task killers = not required? Better root the fone, delete the bloat-wares, set CPU and autostarts?
What else do you do in order to make the S3 battery super-man?

Yes making it a lil bit stronger would be nice
+ reduce a bit (very lil) saturation would be awesome too.
Today I compared the s3 with Note and I found out that S3 screen is darker (note is brighter a bit) and s3 is has some slight pink-orange tint, note has the tint to something slight blue-green (very very little)
Many ways to help out battery life.
Disabling motion, GPS, auto sync, lowering screen brightness, setup background apps for manual syncing, prevent certain apps from auto starting, removing or freezing bloatware, UV UC custom kernel, using 2g instead of 3g, disabling animations, and many more......
Personally, I just use lower brightness level or auto bright. Sometimes use "auto brightness" app from the market and customise the curve. Everything else i leave on and sync etc. I want to use this phone the way it was made to I have heavy on screen time and still get 6+ hours.
On the SGS2, I would also UV the GPU and CPU, but waiting for more mature custom kernel for the SGS3 first before trying that.

Grab the Better Battery Stats app from XDA or donate version in market to check your wakelocks. Heard something about Light Flow casing wakelock of not configured right. Check the XDA BBS thread or search Q&A. I only skimmed, so could be wrong. You shouldn't need to use power saving to get reasonable battery life.

Stock 3D, never rooted/flashed.
after ICS:
-power and volume button reset no longer works, have to pull battery
-pandora does not work at ALL on 3g, loading forever, works fine on WIFI/4G
-battery consumption has been horrid, maps bat usage was high, had to ENABLE latitude then SIGN OFF turning it off.. that has helped
-wifi power consumption much more than gingerbread
-enflick touch works intermittently on WIFI, could be touch issue not sure
Kind of wishing I was still on GB :/
To address each:
-Make sure fast boot is not selected in Settings.
-Known issue with the current Pandora. Download version 1.5.13 and it should work again.
-Maps eats my battery if I leave GPS on (available) all the time. Turning that off until needed helps.
-Not sure.
I do sometimes run GB ROMs instead of ICS because it can be not as good. You may think about rooting so that you can flash some of the better custom ROMs.
If you aren't rooted, do a factory reset. A lot of people have problems after updating OTA, especially with a big upgrade like this going from GB to ICS.

1) Fast boot is not enabled, still can't reboot with power button / vol buttons
2) where do i get 1.5.13? must disable auto-updates so it doesn't end up back @ 1.6?
3) what a pain disabling GPS entirely, any other work around?
I'm disappointed that you can't add wifi on/off and auto orientation in the status bar with the other useless quick settings.

You could always root your phone and flash a ROM, but maybe you dont want to do that.

1. My phone does that too. If the ROM I'm running doesn't have a boot to recovery option, I have to shut down, pull battery, then press volume down and power.
2. I'm on my phone, but go through Q&A for the past month or so and look for Pandora not streaming over 3g (our search google). And auto update off.
3. If GPS is on, Maps will use it. I use Tasker to turn on GPS when I run Maps and shut it off when I'm done.

My ICS update went well. My EVO 3D is working better then GB. Im stock.
I'm trying to find the best apps possible to save as much battery life as I can for when I go camping.
I'm hoping my phone would last me for at least 2 days ( won't be playing games on it, only using it for calling and flash lights and stuff )
I found Greenify but I'm not sure how you use it.
Do I just tap on the app I want to hibernate and that's it?
I'm also using SetCPU so when I turn off my screen my CPU would get clock down to the slowest speed.
I'm also using ZDBox so that when my screen is off it would kill any task running.
With Greenify, should I hibernate SetCPU and ZDBox?
What other general phone setting can I set to save as much battery life as possible? (I still need data and stuff)
Just enable the built in battery saver, bring screen brightness down and disable mobile data when you aren't using it. You should get like 3 days on battery that way. Just remember screen use is the largest battery drain.
