So, I really wanna use Launcher Pro, but when I use it, I can't use the HTC music player widget and HTC settings widgets (like the 4G switch).
Is there any way to get around this?
Not possible.
There is no widget that mimicks the htc music widget, but I've found that doubletwist is a better music app and it has it's own widget. For settings, check out widgetsoid 2.0 for a much better settings widget. You can even set up a notification bar widget that's similiar to the epic.
Both are free.
You can request that Fede (the developer) add this. He's created many great widgets already which are similar to the HTC ones.
+1
Widgetsoid 2.0 is insanely customizable.

Launcher Pro Plus includes a number of Sense-like widgets (the only one I really cared about was Twitter). I also used Beautiful Widgets for the home widgets (time/date). As for the switching, I paid for Power Control Plus, because it lets you add a toggle for USB Tethering (which I had on my Hero - I think I might just hold of on rooting until there is a ROM that supports it). But it also includes a flashlight button (which I believe supports multiple brightness levels), and a few others handy things as well.

Hi all,
I just want to ask what the difference between adw and launcherpro? Do one of these affect the speed of any rom or slow down?
Just try both.. and see which one suits you.
I prefer launcher pro plus (paid version). But at the moment the developer is doing a full re-write of the code making it much more efficient and andding a ton of features. Expected release date is Jan 2011
Thanks for your reply. I also prefer launcher pro but unpaid one by the way what's the advanced of paid one? I may get it
It has a few cool features... you can now have pop ups for missed calls, new SMS messages, browser bookmarks, and recently used apps. U just flick the dock icon upwards and u get a pop-up like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You also get the additional launcher pro widgets, friend wiget, people widget, calendar widget etc etc. For example:
The best thing is the ability to resize any of your homesreen widgets!
The new re-write is supposed to bring a host of new features and smoother running launcher. The price of Launcher pro plus may increase by that time.. so now is the time to get it But its upto you, the free Launcher Pro is amazing too

Thanks dude,
Great information for me so right choice about using launcher pro
LauncherPro isn't available for Android 1.6 (Donut) and older. If you buy Premium LauncherPro you will have HTC Sense like widgets (Contacts etc.). But I think ADW.Launcher is faster.
wow thank you i didn't know that...so i think it's more useful and can be easier modified for me...thanks
heres a cool theme for the ADW

Not sure if you are using sense or not, but I am using LauncherPro Plus and find that going into Menu->Settings->Wireless->4G, etc is annoying.
I found "4G Toggle for EVO" in the market. It says its only for EVO, but since they are both made by HTC, I figured I'd give it a shot, and it works.
Hope this helps some others.

+1, I like having the power bar in the notifications pull down. Also like the switch to disable lock screen.

I also found Widgetsoid afterwards, which has everything! It's great.
cant wait to try this out!!!
One other option, for those using adw, is as follows. Long press the home screen until a menu appears. Choose custom shortcuts, then activities. When this loads, go to settings, then scroll down to 4g settings. This will create a shortcut to the 4G settings, and will not add the chance of further battery drain.
Beautiful Widgets includes one that works as well.
I'm using extended controls, its a paid app but very customizable, they have a control for about every function you could need

Yeah, great app.
I've also purchased beautiful widgets and used it before for toggles, ultimately widgetsoid does everything better, for me.

Just wanted to throw Elixir in the mix. It has a 4G toggle that works prettty well plus a lot of other things. Kind of similar to Widgetsoid but with color. Pretty good app though

For some reason the Rezound doesn't include the "Notes" app, which I've seen on other devices running Sense 3.5. I had this widget in a 3.5 ROM I was running on my DInc, but extracting it from that ROM and trying to install it won't work. Does the widget need to be modified to support the new screen resolution? Is there someone here who knows how to do that?
It might be a resolution issue.that or you forgot to pull a supporting file with it. If you have titanium backup try searching with the filter "note".

There are actually three apks involved.
HtcNotes.apk
HtcNotesProvider.apk
HtcRichNotesWidget3D.apk
The problem is that they fail to install normally by selecting them in a file manager.
I used Root Explorer to copy and paste them directly into the System/App folder. The notes app still did not show in the app drawer, and when I tried to add the widget to my home screen I just got a force close. I'm guessing that they need to be modified somehow to work, but I'm not a programmer so I'll leave that to someone else.
BTW I obtained the apks from the latest SVN for Prime 3D XL for the Droid Incredible. I'm wondering if there is a version from a different phone ROM that will work.
Any devs have plans to get this app working on the Rezound?
I just use SpringPad. Or try pulling the thunderbolt version?

I know one of the sensation roms has it

Those APKs will contain images for a 800x480 screen and the widgets will look strangely small on our 1280x720 screens, even if you get them to work! HTC tends to use actual-size PNGs for everything (and not 'stretch' big ones small or small ones big, like some apps/widgets do).
The Notes widget on its own is just one which scrolls through 10 pages of yellow notepad, which you can either write on or scribble on on one of your home screens. Even on the HTC Eris, when you hit 'Get More Widgets...' or whatever it was, you could get Notes. I don't know if this is the one you're referring to or not!
The HTC Evernote Widget is a little different. Someone was investigating that, but even so there surely wasn't a 1280x720 version of it, I'm sure. We'll see what happens. That one is unique in that it integrates with Evernote kind of like Friendstream integrates to Facebook!
Hi.
Some time ago i tried one of those xperia roms, but i've changed back to cm7 for my Desire. One thing that i noticed is that the xperia roms probably have the coolest weather widget i've seen to date.
But i have not been able to find any universal weather widget that comes close to the simplicity and coolness of the xperia weather widget.
Firstly, the widget is very simple and mimialistic, doesn't contain a clock which is perfect, as there already is a clock in the statusbar, don't really need a second clock to verify the first one is correct.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The widget is animated, which means the weather in the widget is moving, but only on the widget and not the whole screen, so it's not interfering with UI usage.
When you click it, it does an animated unfold into this. Showing a clean and simple forecast.
Click it again and it'll take you to accuweather showing an hour for hour forecast. Clicking outside the widget folds the widget back into it's starting position.
Now you know what the widget is and is able to do.
I am trying to get this, or something like this which works outside the xperia launcher.
I have tried a lot of different widgets, but nothing compares to the simplcity, design and ease of use.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
fusk
This is really cool.
I dont know about animated widgets, but i like the HD Widgets the most. Can be found in the market.
I will follow this thread, would be interesting to find the real deal..

Yes, would be awesome. But sadly i don't have the skills to do anything about it myself. Hoping for someone to budge in and help.
The original HTC clock including the weather would be awesome.
Nice to see the thunder animation....
but now on jellytime i use fancywidgets.... good enough for time and wheater..
Hi, since 12.12.13 there is a new update of google search in playstore.
If i install this update, the google experience launcher changes the grid size (now i have less icons) and some widgets disappear or are resized.
Is there a possibility to change the grid size of the experience launcher desktop with a hack?
I would also like to know what has happened to the grid, as now I cannot have my homescreen as it used to be.
I wonder if this is anything to do with the new 'tablet mode' in the launcher. (install on an N7, then turn horizontally)
Funny, that the launcher is not officially supported on tablets!
For the time being, I have just reverted to GSearch 3.1.8. (or whatever it is!)
I am a developer, but I cannot find any reference to grid size in either the Launcher or Search APKs.
If you know, please reply

There are there modes phone, phabet and tablet. With Android 4.4, tablet mode is not available anymore. To switch between different modes use this tool
I think that it does not depend on the tablet oder phone mode. Other user have the same problem on different devices. (home button not in the middle, widgets deleted and and ...)
Hate to post in an older thread, but this is one of the first results when you start looking for ways to adjust the grid size.
GravityBox[KK] can change the grid size on the GEL launcher, but it's not perfect.

Thanks for this. I was looking for a way to get the grid size larger on my Note 3. The resize ability for widgets is great too. I got it working using the Kit Kat version of Gravity Box, despite the fact that the dev says it may not work on Touchwiz ROMs.
