Hey,
My acquaintance needs Polish language in his HTC HERO. He bought it in England and no idea which operator or so. He'd like to update to android 2.1.
Is any of the ROMS in here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622
android 2.1 with polish support that could probably work on his phone?
All wwe should have polish I believe. Also all 2.1 custom-built roms I tried had polish (VR 12, RcMix).
Sent from my Hero using XDA App
Ok thanks. He current version of android is 1.5.
He has installed recovery and there is a bug while hes installing a new rom.
"no signature
Update failed"
Anyone knows whats wrong?
I think you should update to stock 2.1 from HTC and then install custom ROM.
I can't download from htc site.
Turn on wifi in phone and you should get update notification in few minutes.
The thing is, it's not my phone, it's my acquaintances'.
He bought it in England from another guy. The operator is called nashua mobile -> i think its african operator but im not sure
When he uses the serial number on htc site to download an update, it says it's not for that phone
moreover in setting->about phone_> there is no option called "software updates"
android version is 1.5
recovery installed AmonRA recovery
in this recovery there are 3 options ->
1. reboot
2. flash zip
3. factory reset
There is no nandroid backup.
Tried installing 1 rom(don't remember which one, not from XDA) and failed.
1. Download this
2. Extract this zip file
3. Put it ROM.zip in root of sdcard
4. Rename ROM.zip to HEROIMG.zip
5. Turn off phone
6. Turn on phone by holding POWER and BACK buttons together
7. Apply update from sdcard
8. Reboot phone
9. Update Android to 2.1
10. Root Android (you can use Universal Androot app)
11. Flash custom recovery from terminal emulator
12. Flash custom ROM from recovery
Ok I did exactly what you said and update failed.
some problems with CID and update fails
What should i do now?
Up
I tried installing other WWE stock roms for hero from the links here on xda and none of them worked.
Its checking Custom ID and update fails.
Current version is : 2.73.421.5
Is there any other way to flash a rom? I got to know that the rrcovery i installed is a normal recovery, not amon ra - how can i flash amon ra or clockworkmod now?

I have HTC hero (bought in india).
i had updated it 2.1 using OTA updates.
Recently i rooted the devices using one touch and had installed Rom manager to put a recovery image of cynagoenmod recovery image.
and later when i tried to update the lock screen of vanilla using update method of recovery mode i happened to crash my Hero.
I have tried the following to get it working but all have failed.
1. Put the HEROIMG.zip on sdcard and try the HBOOT method. - failed.
2. tried the fastboot method using recovery image but got the no remote found error
3. using RUU RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.66_WWE_test_signed_NoDriver which says USB connection errror.
now i need some help to get my Hero working. any help would be appreciated..please help me get this working..
Have you got the correct drivers for seeing the device in fastboot?
And same applies for RUU. ruu needs the htc sync drivers iirc
Have you gone back into your recovery and restored the nandroid backup? (which everyone should be making before doing anything to their system)
Assuming you haven't done this - couldn't you just go back into recovery - turn on the usb-ms setting and place a rooted update zip of which ever rom you want onto the sd card and flash that instead. You can even get official ones with root enabled (though i can't remember where I saw them).
Alternatively pulsar's method will also work - get the correct HTC Sync drivers installed (by installing the latest version) and you'll have the right drivers in fastboot mode so the rru should install.
1st thank you for ur response Pulsar and btdag.
My device shows in fastboot.
I have also have HTC sync installed.
but since my phone doesnt boot up i tried using the RUU with the phone in fastboot.
this give me USB connection error.
Then i disabled the firewall of windows 7, still no help.
Please let me know if i am doing anything wrong here..
another point , i had done backup when my phone was going in recovery mode.
but now when i try the home and power key devices stucks on exclamation ! screen which prompted me to go for RUU.
i havent done any goldcard backup as suggested in ur complete step by step guide.
If i put the update.zip on my sdcard i would need to be in recovery mode for installing that rt?
Also to mention the HBOOT mode doesnt recognize any zip...
Hi All
Just a quick question i have a dell steak on o2 2.2 . can i just put stock 2.2.2.version 351 straight on or do i have to change baseband as never hacked the streak as my everyday phone ,phone is now unlocked but don't want to brick handset as the streak is greatest ever
With stock ROMs you don't touch the baseband at all. You DO need to replace the Recovery image with the version that matches the ROM you're installing. So, if you want to install 360 (the current Unlocked ROM), you would need to replace your current recovery with the one from 360, then flash 360 from that.
with recovery do i just use streak mod to install & then rename 360 rom to update.pkg
Any tips greatly appriecated
thanks
StreakMod is just a custom recovery. You flash the stock recovery for 360 the same way you would flash StreakMod (using your computer in Fastboot mode), but you only need StreakMod to flash custom roms. For stock roms you need a stock, matching recovery.
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
I've also have a questions.
Mine is :-
Android version = 2.2.2
Baseband version = GAUSB1A134700-EU
Kernel version = 2.6.32.9-perf
OEM version = GAUSB1A134700
Build number = 15274
Where I can get below stock ROM...? I've google below but no result found.
(Version)_(Build)_(Region).pkg ==> Streak_347_15274_00.pkg
What is the criteria must meet if I want to flash stock ROM...?
Same "build number"? Same "region no"?
Since my version doesn't has a pkg to dload in here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_5
Can I dload & flash below latest stock ROM to my streak?
http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/Streak_360_17397_00.pkg
360 (version) 17397 (build) 00 (region) May 31, 2011 (build date)
The recovery image and the ROM image you want to flash to need to be the same region. In your case, you have an unlocked Streak direct from Dell (region code: 00). If you haven't rooted your Streak, then you don't have to worry about flashing a new recovery. You can download the latest unlocked ROM, which you linked to in your post, and flash it.
Should you have StreakMod Recovery on your Streak however, you'll have to replace that with a region 00 recovery. For example, since you want to go to 360, you'd have to download the 360 recovery first. After downloading the recovery you would replace the recovery using fastboot commands, and then flash the ROM itself.
P.S. 347 only came direct from Dell. No upgrade path to 347 was possible.
ive trie many ways to load a stock recovery file on phone in fastboot .i 've got the phone to fastboot mode ,pc in cmd mode but unable to get it to work .
please help i thought it was easy maybe ive missed something
Did you install Dell's drivers for the Streak onto the PC? If you didn't, do so now because flashing doesn't work without them. Otherwise, download Multirecovery Flasher from the Android Development forum and run it. Do note that MRF does not have the 360 recovery included. You can simply download the 360 recovery from the usual place and copy it over one of the other recovery files included in the MRF zip.
Hi there thanks for the reply
i did think about changing the file but wasnt a 100% sure so wanted advice, everything seems good to go in fastboot mode but cant seem to transfer the recovery file so will try the way you mentioned later .
thanks

Root with superuser.zip.
You will not have to re-install your apps.
Just remember that when you flash streakmod recovery and reboot you must go into the recovery - do not let the phone boot normally. More info here and here.
Put the superuser.zip on your sd card
Flash streakmod recovery
reboot with fastboot reboot
as you Streak reboots hold both volume buttons to go into recovery
select option 2 and install the superuser.zip
reboot
You are now rooted.
just like to say thanks to everyone that has helped me seemed so daunting for the first time since i bricked my last streak & buggered it completely
great feedback from the forum
now have 2.2.2 360 rooted ,very happy
Hello,
I see the Legend has now been added to the HTC Dev site, so we should be able to unlock our bootloaders.
I am wondering if anyone has tried this and will we still be able to root our phones with the updated software version required for the bootload unlock?
If you are able to use fastboot you can flash any recovery you want
fastboot recovery XY.img
With the recovery you can root with the official SuperUser Update zips...
Finally...
Gonna unlock it right away. This requires an update to 3.15.405.6 and than hboot_1.02.0000. Gonna report results later.
Okay, I waited for this soooo long.......
Thanks for posting!
I'm unlocking my hboot now
hello,
i have htc legend ( t-mobile NL ) what do i need to have?
edit : omg its all the same file :|
but after i do this i can use CyanogenMod ?
Once the update is installed and the bootloader has been unlocked (finish the steps on the htc dev site), run the "HTC Super tool v3" from you pc, select step 1, then step 3.

Hi there, need help on installing custom ROM on my Legend.
I just unlocked the bootloader on my Legend by using steps on HTC Dev site. I've run the HTC Super Tool v3 too (it said my Legend rooted successfully). Installed ROM Manager app from Market and done the Flash CWM Recovery. Checked the SD card, no update.zip file so I download and put the CWM Recovery zip file to my SD card, rename the file to "update"
Popped the SD card back, boot into bootloader, chose RECOVERY, then I pressed VLO UP + POWER, choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip", but it failed. Is there any step that maybe I missed?
Here's what it says:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Thanks for your help guys
EDIT: It wasn't fully rooted, just found out. Run the HTC Super Tool v3 again, now it's fully rooted (SU notifications now comes up), but still everytime I tried to flash a custom ROM using CWM, it always ends up with red triangle + exclamation mark. Dunno what to do now

Did you by any chance try googlin' the text in bold? Try it, it's fun!
Once you've unlocked the bootloader you can't use update.zip any more to load clockwork you need to flash a clockwork img file via fastboot. Have a look in the other threads about the bootloader all you need to know is there!
However once you've got the custom recovery flashed you can then load other fake flash version of clockwork mod from within.

Hi!
Yesterday night, I was on the lookout for emoji font for my phone. To no avail finding colored emoji icons, I ended up going to Font Changer (Root) but found nothing there either. Since I just discovered the app, I thought, why not just try something new? A new font? So I downloaded a font, made a backup of my old font and rebooted the phone. But then it was done. My phone didn't start anymore and was stuck on booting. I went over to Modaco forums, downloaded a custom recovery and then downloaded one of the many dedoxed roms there. I tried to flash it, but in avail.
-- Install /data/media
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installation aborted.
So I downloaded another ROM to try. Same error. I tried to download the stock firmware from ASUS. Same error. What is causing this?
Keep in mind, I have done a data/factory reset wipe! The phone was obviously rooted before the incident! I did not have a custom recovery before the incident! I have tried 4 different ROMs! I am currently on Modaco's custom recovery!
ROMs tried -
* Deodexed TW ROM (Padfone 2)
* Deodexed WWE ROM (Padfone 2)
* [Pre MCR WWE ROM (Padfone 2)
* PadFone2 Firmware: V10.4.11.13 Only for JP SKU (Android 4.1) (STOCK)
Current recovery -
* Modaco R1 Custom Recovery
try restoring with the phone plugged in to a power source.
it worked for me when i got the same message trying to update.

Try some other recoveries
Lky CWM or TWRP
Sent from my A116 using Tapatalk 2
Same happened to me, but I got it up and running again!
Earlier today I bricked my Padfone 2 too by installing 3rd part font. After a reboot to apply the changes, it got to the boot logo but never any further.
I got it up and running again, :victory: and to those out there in same or similar situation, here's a tutorial on what I did:
Before we start, there's a few things you need;
1.1 Latest ADB version (I used 1.0.31)
1.2 Latest Fastboot version
1.3 CWM Recovery
1.4 Latest ASUS USB Drivers (available from ASUS Support site)
1.5 Padfone 2 Firmware (available from ASUS Support site)
*** NOTE: For ease of use, place extract and place all of the above to the same folder.
*** NOTE: Inside the Padfone 2 Firmware ZIP file, there's another ZIP file. This is the one we need! The one I used was called "WWE_A68-10.4.15.1-0-ota-user.zip"
*** NOTE: This method does not install CWM Recovery on your phone, it only boots it temporarily.
If you have all of the above, continue to step 2;
2.1 Booting your Padfone 2 into Fastboot mode
2.2 Press and hold Power + Volume up buttons
In Fastboot mode, connect your phone to your computer and launch cmd. Wait for windows to install necessary drivers if needed.
3.1 Navigate your CMD to the folder containing ADB, Fastboot and CWM Recovery (recovery.img)
3.2 In CMD type:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
In the CWM Recovery on your phone, select the option titled "Install ZIP from sideload".
Use the volume keys to navigate and select by pressing the power button.
4.1 In CMD, transfer the Padfone 2 Firmware by typing
Code:
adb sideload [firmware-file-name.zip]
- Example from my case, I wrote:
Code:
adb sideload WWE_A68-10.4.15.1-0-ota-user.zip
4.2 When it is done, you'll be presented with CWM Recovery's screen again, select "Reboot system now".
4.3 CWM Recovery will present you with a warning saying: "ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?" - Select "NO".
[EDIT]
In some, if not all cases, Windows will try to install new drivers, but fail. If windows installed the drivers correctly, skip this step.
To solve this, go to device manager by entering the Start menu, right-click Computer and select “Manage”. Select the Device Manager.
You should see a failed device named A68. Right-click it and select “Update device software”
Select “Browse my computer for driver software”
Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”
Select “Have Disk”
Now browse and navigate to the folder you extracted your ASUS USB Drivers to and select the file named “android_winusb.inf”
Select “ASUS Android ADB Interface” and install.
Added files and a neat pdf tutorial.
[/EDIT]
All done! You should have a working Padfone 2 again!
Please note that you may need to root your phone again.
Please credit if used

http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers - Click on O.S.
You'll find your stock system there. Instructions for loading it are included in the zip downloaded. I believe the EMEA Gen1 is for the generic worldwide version, but you might want to verify that. I know that the ORGFr one is for Orange France and the little "s" at the end would signify single SIM versions.
Found this guide to install recovery:
One. Loads Famaroot Just "Framaroot-1.9.1.apk" follow the link here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?s=e12cbb38af7dd8a173308bb ...
The. Apk to be installed on the Z3 - Z3s / Once installed, it's ordered by phone root app Famaroot.
Two. TWRP 2.4.4.0 files stored on your SD-Card llllllll2510 to post the link here.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0XQigIT17uEcDQtaDJ3U0UtOWc/edit?pli=1
PS. Files Name TWRP24Recovery_Z130_D10-02-14.img.
Do NOT paste it in a folder deep secret I do not find.
Three. Install app "[ROOT] Recovery Tools - Flasher" on the phone to me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools
Then, with a flash TWRP 2.4.4.0 [ROOT] Recovery Tools - Flasher by.
Select top (Flash Recovery) and select the top (Other from Storage).
Then browse to the file TWRP24Recovery_Z130_D10-02-14.img. Flash to order
At the end of the process [ROOT] Recovery Tools - Flasher will ask you to reboot into recovery-mode or not.
I answered yes to the reboot to check the flash recovery ... we just finished it.
NOTE ***: It may cause damage to the machine. Or insurance
You must accept the risks in the operation of your own.
I found this on a forum that was in a foreign language to me and used Google Translate to get this info. You can find the original thread here:
http://droidsans.com/node/153986
For returning to stock for warranty issues, just use the original firmware you downloaded from Acer.
Tried the first part flashing the ROM using the provided stock Roms.
That failed it downloads but as soon as first real install occurs it rejects and aborts install access or accept error.
And returns the key part of the file name
I think? No expert at all ? The stock ROM updates do not match the previous ROM on my z30. Do not exactly know the specs of my original ROM proximus.... ??? Would have preferred gen ROM overriding all that stuff?
Or do I need to force adb/ fastboot only to load the system partition.???? But what is the adb/ fastboot command then exactly do I need to expand the zip a second time? After extract zip and instruction PDF?
Will delay cwm tarp after first signs of life of the phone.
Thanks for your answer
sometimes I know.
often I do not know.
Its always good to be able to ask.
