Hi Everybody,
I was wondering if its possible to downgrade free x10 beta 4 to any 2.1 rom,or the latest rogers update.
If i made a nandroid back up(im on .54)with free x10,then installed the latest update from rogers. Would I be able to enter x recovery again and restore the free x10 rom,and be able to switch back when I need to ?
Or do I need to re root after the SE update, and use something like mybackup to restore some of my data settings(adw, contacts, txts etc).
I just want to be able to switch from 2.1-2.2 at anytime,is this possible ?
Use SEUS or PC Companion
For contacts -> gmail sync
SMS -> app ''sms backup & restore''
ADW - simply backup and restore after installing again.
Hope it helps!
So will I be able to flash between Roms then, after updating with Se ?

the latest rogers baseband is .55, which does work with beta 4. So if you install that firmware, root it again and install jit and xrecovery, make a backup of that, then reflash beta 4, make a recovery of your setup for that... then you'll be able to go back and forth between the two by just restoring the two recoveries
Could you please post a link to the latest version of superuser
superuser? after you root it is usually preinstalled, otherwise you can get it from the android market!
I dont think so,Ill find it then. Theres been issues when people have updated and lost root and had to find and use superuser
Whoops,I confused my self,I was talking about superoneclick for rooting.Im gonna use the flash tool

My current X10i is rooted with R2BA023 and I am wondering if it is possible to update to R2VA026 without wiping all the apps and contacts. If I have to, what are the steps to update to 026. Do I have to use the original root methods all over again? Thanks, I'm still very new to android.
[So, after the experiments and discussion we have concluded the best way to update rooted firmware is to use SEUS with the update option "This option allows you to update your phone with all apps and user information untouched" Then download the one click root APK to root your device, make sure you also downloaded the market fix to ensure full services from the market.]

In SEUS you can update without losing your contacts or messages, I have done this at least once.
But I dont remember if the apps were left untouched, I have done to many reflashes since then.
Use SEUS to go to 026 and the the One Click Root to, well, root...
But please, make a backup first, Titanium seems to be useful for this.

thanks! I'm trying the SEUS update right now.
for those who are interested in doing the same thing. I found out you can make seus update only the firmware, keeping all the apps and personal information untouched. I updated from my rooted 023 to official 026 then used the 1click root .apk. Everything worked smooth like silk. In case if anyone is interested in doing the same thing my result was a perfect success. (btw, don't forget to use the market fix)
Just to be sure, I have rooted X10i R2BA023 so I can update it with normal SEUS update procedure without problems? And after update I just run 1click Root and restore with Titanium backup?

The answer would be yes.
Rooting is no problem, but as will89 said, the applications will be kept if you update your phone with SEUS and keeps the user data (there are 2 choices in SEUS).
Please BACKUP ! (at least your vital data, and before..)

Yes, my phone was originally a rooted 023 and I simply updated the firmware through SEUS, the update was fast and smooth. Once it was done, the firmware became the official 026 which then I used the 1 click root apk to complete rooting. Everything worked painlessly and all my contacts and apps remained untouched, though I would suggest you to still make a backup with titanium just in case like what MattiL said
Hello everyone,
First of all, thanks for suchs a wonderfull forum about almost every mobile!!!
*** I don't understand a thing about developments or development terms.***
I've rooted my phone via the first root available for SE X10 ( So I could delete Moxier crap )....
Now, there's a update available via SEUS. But!!! I can't use it ... It wont install. I think it's because I've rooted my phone!
Firmversion: 1.6 Build-number: R2BA023 Model-number: X10i
Can somebody help me to take it back to factory state? ( Or a root update for 2.2 )???
I really need a good easy root progress, because I don't understand a crap about dev. language!
I hope somebody can help me!!!
Sincerely
Mike

1st of all there's no need for him/her to flash his phone that way, he/she has to use pc companion or SEUS
2.- titamium back up must be installed in order to delete moxier
3.- super one click is right to root
you must have root access to use titanium backup.
so root and delete the crap.
So what program do I need to use now?
Oh, I'm a boy^.-
But, my phone is rooted to 1.6. ( This was the only way I could delete Moxier ).
Now I want a FULL restore ( So it'll be a normal "legaly" bought phone.
So, that all roots are gone, and I'm able to update anytime.
Merci,
Mike
SuperOneClick didn't work for me. Root - Unroot - etc.
I just don't understand a thing about it !
I really need a full explanation for everything :S!
Sorry:/
Mike
superOneClick root
titanium backup
and delete the useless apps.
What's with the Titanium Backup? I don't need anything I have atm.
I already got my contacts stored in my laptop, so Titantium backup isn't needed for me.
But, if I try to root it, it says something about "Superuser" :/
Can't figure it out!
Mobile information:
Modelnumber: X10i
Firewareversion: 1.6 <- must be 2.1 or 2.2 don't know what's out atm.
Smalbandversion: 1.1.27
Kernel-Version: 2.6.29-rel

Hi.
I'm running my R800i with updated 2.3.3 (i used SEUS). My bootloader is locked (i think, because i bought the device from amazon, with no branding).
GingerBreak, SuperOneclick, zRoot, etc. aren't working.
Is there a way to root my device without losing all installed data/apps? I spent lots of time for configuring and customizing my phone.
As of now, if you want to root you have to unlock the bootloaders and flash a .img file through fastboot. Both procedures, and actually your question, are explained in thorough detail in this subforum, multiple times. You won't lose your data.
The reason i was asking is that somewhere in the forums i was reading reading that you can not unlock the bootloader on unbranded devices. I cant find the link anymore.

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe your device, so you can't simply flash the system.img because your data will be wiped before hand.
Two methods
Method 1
Backup using Titanium or Mybackup Pro
fastboot unlock, flash system.img
restore apps via titanium or mybackup pro
Method 2
Use flashtool to downgrade phone to 2.3.2 (dont flash userdata.sin)
root using gingerbreak, apply OTA update (DO NOT DO THIS IF BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED) and then you will be rooted on 2.3.3
Method 1:
Titanium won't work without root, or does it?
Method 2:
So when i use the flashtool to downgrade i can choose what parts of the device will get flashed?! I can downgrade without loosing settings, apps, data?!
I dont think that OTA is available in Germany, or from my Provider?! I had an Xperia X10 Mini before i got the Play, and never saw any OTA-Updates (i had never root or custom images on the X10 Mini). I always had to use PC Companion or SEUS.
Will SEUS work too? I did my 2.3.2 (with root) to 2.3.3 upgrade with SEUS and was able to choose either upgrade (apps/data will stay), or complete flash (factory-reset incl. upgrade). I choosed upgrade (apps/data will stay) but root was gone.
If OTA is not available for me, i have to choose Method 1, but then everything is "gone"?!
Edit 2: Forget it I just did it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119074&page=2 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116090&page=4 helped me out.
I didnt wipe anything or "clean" my system. I just did the downgrade. After that, i got 1 issue. I always got this message: "android.process.acore has stopped". Google said that this is an issue with synchronize the contacts, etc. But i didnt freak out I just installed GingerBreak, did the root, then the OTA, and after OTA everything was fine again. Now i have full rooted 2.3.3
android.process.acore wurde unerwartet beendet
I just installed Wolfbreaks 2.3 and tried to reboot into recovery but it would just boot into the OS. I followed the instructions on the OP and found that busyox wasn't on the apps list like it should be and titanium wouldn't run because it needed ROOT privileges. help me, how do I install root on 2.3 or is that not possible?

yes, I did every part, I followed the video posted in OP.. my phones rooted but I can't access Xrecovery what do I do?
well I just found a fix for my phone. I think installing over a 2.2 rom was at fault here, for some reason after installing Wolf's 2.3, my phone wasn't rooted (no busybox, superuser,Xrecovery) and once I tried to install xrec on my pc, it wouldn't find my phone, so after all that, I decided to try installing it on my sister's pc and it worked, my phone is rooted with xrec working. so any one out there not wanting to restore back to 2.1 when installing 2.3 SHOULD install back to 2.1, installing from custom roms causes problems, learnt the hard way,. but if there are people here that went the same way I did and don't have their x10 rooted, go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196421
install Xrec and root it
Hello
I had rooted my S3 few days ago with this tool SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 TOOLKIT V1.0 so my phone has now root access a CWM.
Modem version I9300XXLEF
Number version IMM76D.I9300XXALEF
But notification said that there's new update available - 8,91MB installation brakes after restart cause lack of some signed files, is it possible to update my phone now but without erasing any data ?
I have found latest firmware here Samsung-Updates.com-GT-I9300_XEO_1_20120612172415_pax5uhw4id.zip XEO for Poland but don't want to loose any data from phone
Which tool should I use and what files should I use ?
Thank You for any help.
If you want to go back to stock rom why don't you use the Toolkit again? It's pretty straight forward.
Just flash the latest Firmware via CWM if you want to update.

I'm still on stock ROM but rooted and with CWM, so there's no way just to apply modified update, or to unroot it with stock bootloader just to do an update and then root it again with CWM ?
@bordikun
Yeah, I have read it but it's full firmware/ROM if I understand it correctly, I got Titanium Backup and use it but just feel that all this is just an overkill, so many procedures just to update 8,91MB of data ?
have you tried there ?
