Firmware Reflash for return - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I seem to have the all too common problem with my X10 where it reboots when under lots of load.
I've decided i want to return it, however i'm currently using a rooted Nordic firmware, and i'd like to return the phone to standard before taking it to the store.
The phone is a Vodafone UK model (SI 1232-4285)
I've altered the settings inside build.prop to reflect the above number, rebooted the handset, then tried to reflash the firmware, however the PC Companion updater tells me "There is no software available for your phone yet, please try again later.", then ends, without actually performing the repair.
Any ideas?

It's not the SI that you want.. it's the build number which you can get from a link in here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828163
and make sure that you reboot the phone after amending the details before you to to reflash.

Thanks for that.
Looking at this line:
X10i VFE-UK VFE 1234-4579 1232-4285 Vodafone UK/Sensuous black
I presume i should be setting it to 1234-4579 then?
Unfortunately in the mean time, i decided to try flashing the original operators firmware, which i downloaded from the developer section, and now the phone is booting to a vanilla 1.6 OS but asking for a SIM network unlock PIN...

think you'll need to find a new firmware and reflash.. then you can try again with the firmware code.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
and yes... 1234-4579

Thanks,
I downloaded flashtool and the latest 2.1 world generic and those flashed on just fine. The phone then started working again and i managed to root it, reinstall root explorer and correctly edit the build number.
SEUS then happily repaired the phone to the latest Vodafone UK firmware.
Things get stranger though, as i then tried to restore my backup i made on the old firmware to get all my contacts etc back. First couple of times i tried it the phone rebooted, so i left it to charge over night, and tried again this morning with a full battery. Backup Restore went perfectly, and it told me to reboot the phone.
Cept now it wont turn on. The phone vibrates momentarily upon pressing the power button, but does nothing else
Is it possible that some "system settings" from my backup have conflicted with the new firmware?
I'm going to try another repair now and see if that will get it working again.

you can't restore your old firmware on top of the existing firmware.. at least not without losing the existing.. If you want your old contents back but not the firmware then you'll need to restore just those elements.. what did you use to back up with?

can't bring x10i back to x10a

so basically i have generic x10i uk r2ba020 f/w on my rogers x10a phone..
i kept having problems with wifi and i'm thinking it might be because of the firmware i have currently, so i want to bring it back to x10a (rogers f/w)
however, i've tried the flashtool in jerpelea's thread, the one-click apk file, and they both keep giving me this error
right after i connect the phone in flash mode, i get
'invalid or corrupt 'jar' file'
i can't use omnius because i need to purchase licenses and it's no longer free..
is there any other way for me to get this phone back to x10a??? i'm really worried that i won't even be able to update to 2.1 when the update comes out..

edit : can't seem to delete this thread...
i couldn't get it working on xp, but after many tries, I got the file working on win7, with one of the problems being the deviceid.txt being saved as unicode not ansi...
anyhow.. everything works now. thanks

[Q] How can I go back to Stock ROM c/w Radio working

Hi Guys, hoping someone can help me here.
I know I have replied to another thread asking the same question, but I wanted to ask in my own post so I could detail exactly what I have done in the hope someone can point out to me what a complete idiot I have been and put me right.
I tried to upgrade my sons phone this week which was on MiniCM7-2.07. I followed all the instructions to unlock bootloader etc and all seemed to go well, I booted up into MiniCM7-2.15 successfully however there is no network coverage, and there hasnt been since. The phone was sim unlocked about a year ago but I cant remember if I got Orange to do it for me or I paid one of the various unlockers for the code. I know it was never hooked up to a separate machine (SETOOL?). I tried my original Orange SIM in it to see if that fixed it, but still no joy.
You are able to browse the various networks available as it searches for them and finds them, but when you choose a certain network it returns with an error that your SIM will not work with that network, or words to that effect.
If you take the SIM out you get a totally different error, so pretty sure the SIM carrier is working.
So, to rectify this I relocked the bootloader and used SEUS to go back to stock 2.1. This all worked fine apart from I still have no network. WIFI works fine, but no data or phone calls.
I have tried flashing other kernels, again with no joy, always the same problem.
What else can I try? I used to do mess around with linux so I know my way around console, is there a module in the kernel I could try swapping or changing? Surely there is something that is controlling that part of the phone that has been changed and isnt being changed back again? What does SEUS do, does it just restore the ROM or is it the kernel too?
Really hoping someone can help with this, as of this moment the x10mini is as good as a chocolate tea pot to me
Tony
Did you find a decision of your problem? I have the same problem, with the only difference that I never changed the ROM. I just rooted the phone with the SuperOneClick tool, and then tried to unlock the bootloader, but with no luck there. After completing all the steps in the tutorial with no problems during the process, it remained locked.
And I just realized after that, that the phone has the sim card problem, just as yours.
So any suggestions?
guys first of all let's try a test if you have an unlocked bootloader go ahead and flash the latest nAa Kernel (nAa-10) then from that kernel install MiniCM7 2.1.8 and tell me your results if it was negative you should reflash all Without locking the bootloader from SEUS via the Repair option therefore after this it should work as the SEUS restore all the software kernel and ROM to its original state from the manufacturer Sony Ericsson.
let me know what will happen with you.
Any feedback on this?
Thanks!

[Q] Phone looping after debranding

Hey, I have an SK17i locked on Orange that I flashed with stock UK firmware .58 (2.3.4) from WotanServer and now the phone wont accept ANY sim cards, nor connect to any WIFI signal.
It also loops in the regard that it wont save settings and asks to select language everytime I start the phone.
Ive tried a few different firmwares from the wotan server. Tried using flashtool with firmware downloaded from these forums, with no success.
Any help really appreciated as im struggling to find what the problem is.

try this firmware and flash it using flashtool
make sure to wipe everything and don't exclude anything
Download Sk17i Firmware Global
Thanks for the firmware, I did try it but I had the same issues.
I resolved it now, I had to unlock the phone (Network SIM Lock) and now its working fine. I wouldnt want to guess at why the original SIM that came with the phone wouldnt work on a debranded firmware but maybe someone here will incase someone else bumps into this problem.
Thanks.

since ver 4.0.4 has some issues, would suggest u to rewert back to stock 4.0.3 and then see if the issue persists, if its not there then stay with v4.0.3 untill a stable v4.0.4 is released
ps- do not make any wipes in recovery, or backup ur phone with the same with v4.0.4 since the same can potentially brick ur phone
SIM is not dead. turn out to be a phone issue. not resolved yet but find it very strange how it can go from non-lock to locked with network control key prompt.
used GSII repair from the market, it resolved the issue but now the phone is unable to turn on any security pattern prompt for instance, and it has a weird box logo right on the home screen.
anyone had this problem before?
Yes I've suddenly had this issue, but found the app 'Galaxy_S Unlock' on the market which quickly resolved my phone being locked.
But the problem persists as it randomly locks itself again, and I have to use this app again, bit of a pain as this is a work phone, but luckily it still unlocks with this app.
Looking for a permanent solution, anyone have any ideas what the real issue is here, and yes I'm using v4.o4 firmware on my phone.
My SII just got the OTA update to 4.04 this morning and is now doing the same thing, my carrier is pretty indifferent as its unlocked so I'm trying to get help out of Samsung. Mostly adding my 2c to give the topic a bump
Same trouble here after a flash to Resurrection v3.0.5, prompt of Enter Network Unlock Control Key.
Tried the unlock apps from the market and no go, tried flashing a few other Roms, restored a few nandroid backups, factory resets and still nothing. Put the SIM into my backup phone to test and no problems with that.
Strange when accessing the menu at *#7465625# the network locks were listed as off.
What did work for me was to flash back to the original stock Rom that came with the phone (KG2 Bell). After the reboot there was still no signal so I entered stock recovery and did a factory reset, cleared cache partition/dalvik cache, fix permisions and reboot.
After that all has been working good and was able to flash back to my nandroid backup.
I just packed it off to Samsung, they didn't admit fault but the phone is out of warranty but they are fixing it free of charge. Smells like victory..

Sm-g925f model wont accept any other stock firmware except sc-04g

I have been at this issue since Saturday and gone through a lot of possible solutions but to no avail. So first of all i am in Ghana. A friend came to me with his s6 edge that he had some issues with his phone going off when he unplugs the charger and getting stuck in a bootloop when turning it on unless he plugs a charger in before it boots up fully(even with full charge)
So first of all he wanted to do a factory reset(phone was not rooted). Factory reset completed successfully but issue still persisted.
Specs of the phone was:
android 5.0.2
model number = SM-G925F
original csc (i wasnt able to note that down because downloading stock firmware was going to be the last ultimate weapon. first i was going to try some custom roms to see if it fixed the issue. Besides it was working fine here in Ghana.)
So that's when i flashed a twrp and i dont exactly remember but i think i might have tried to flash a lineage OS or something. But long story short, when u try booting up, the samsung galaxy edge screen with powered by android came on and stayed there. and it did not go on to boot up.
After trying through the night i then decided to use the ultimate tool and flash a stock firmware. Try as i might none of them got past the "Repartition Operation Failed" portion of flashing it. The Pit File was becoming an issue. Tried firmwares for my country, countries nearer to us, contries in africa and finally even european firmwares. And since from reading from here and other forums that the F variant was an international version the international pit files should work but they werent.
All this while whenever i go to Odin Download mode on the phone, the product name there was SM-G925D. This started the confusion because at that point i had looked through alot of firmware and that was not an option. When i searched google for that, the search results mostly correlated it to SC-04G, which looking at it was a Japanese firmware. I didnt want to use a japanese Firmware for obvious reasons. At least i wanted a firmware that was by default in English. But after about 2 days and seeing a lot of answers saying stuff about going to settings and checking stuff there plus me wanting to see an interface and work my way from there i succumbed.
And lo and behold, it flashed on the first try(i used the 4-part files firmware. It was android 7.0). But when it came to booting up, the splash screen had changed from samsung bla bla bla powered by android to NTT DOCOMO powered by android. But it booted up and i skipped through the setup. i had to change the language to english but there were a lot of japanese bloatware that came with it. But as i expected when i popped a sim card into it, and restarted the phone, there was the not available symbol(circle with a bar across) where the network bars were supposed to be.
Seeing that this was not going to do, i went to the settings this time to check on any important details and this were the new details
android version 7.0(January, 2018)
model number=SC-04G
build number was now SC0.....(cant write the full code as im currently in odin mode)
But obviously it was the japanese network. After this i have downloaded more firmwares and they all fail at "Setting PIT...Re-Partition failed". Somtimes i try to mix the 4 files up using maybe the CSC portion of the Japanese firmware but BL, CP, and AP of firmware from my region. This time the error is "sboot.bin failed".
And that has been my grind till now. Downloading likely firmwares and all failing to doing extremes like the mix and match. When the mix and match with BL, CP, and CSC of Japanese with AP of my region works and eventually boots up, there is no touch input. The touch does not work. When that happens i just have to start all over with the SC-04G, which never fails to work.
I have even seen some things about changing csc files in the file explorer with root so i flashed the Japanese FW and rooted it. Went through the processes but to no avail.
PS:
The first part of the Odin screen where you choose to continue or reboot is now completely in Japanese whiles it was formerly in English.
And there is no indication on the phone itself that it was from Japan. The back says Samsung and below it says Galaxy s6 edge. Friend bought it from a shop in Ghana here brand new.(not from a carrier)
****So here lies my confusion. How come a phone with an original model number of SM-G925F have a Product name of SM-G925D in Odin and hence only Flash Japanese Firmware SC-04G(CSC code = DCM) but would not flash any of the international variants. Even if i can eventually get the Japanese firmware to read the sim card we can manage it that way. But thats for when there are no options left.
So please i would like to know your ideas as to how this is happening and any possible solutions that might be different from what my batallion of open tabs are telling me. You can also let me know if you want any more details i might not have included. Looking forward to hearing from you guys.
Update On Issue
I ended up using the japanese firmware in the end because it wasnt picking anything else.
This time after the setup process, it picked up the sim card and the imei is available. So since network is now available i just rooted it with cf autoroot and removed the japanese bloatware and everything looks normal now.
Except the original issue of going off randomly whn power cable is pulled out even when having full charge.
