[Q] European HTC Gratia ROM. - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have read almost every thread on upgrading the HTC Aria operating system, in particular the "Liberated" ROM or excellent Cyanogen.
... now it's finally appeared the HTC Gratia and then there is a "official" version of Froyo with Sense on the air.
What I see however is that there are available only "asian" ROM and not "european", so I ask if anyone has tried to upgrade the Aria with the european ROM, and then with english / french / spanish / italian language.
I ask this because I understand you can upgrade later with an application, but would remain the language of the T9 and other things in English.
Is possible to get an update in italian (or French, spanish, etc ...) complete, with T9 in italian and the ability to dictate italian destinations in Google Maps and navigate then with the signs in language?
There is a port of the European Gratia? Or what ROM I use to use a European language, Cyanogen?
Thanks.
(sorry, I read a lot of post buth none about using FULL language different from english or chinese)

Same question here. I bought an Aria a few days ago and now I want a complete German OS.
Is this possible?

Try Cyanogen 7, it's fully traduced in your country language.

Take a look at the Liberated Aria 2.2 FR008. It is based on the European Gratia ROM and has all of the supported languages you asked about.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819715

I am also looking for the Gratia stock ROM. I am running CM7 at the moment and have the problem that my NAND backup of my original ROM is corrupt. I would like to be able to go back to stock.
Could somebody make a Nandroid backup and upload it? Thanks!

Yeah me too.
I'm lookin just for regular stock HTC Gratia WWE rom. All i found are asian version of RUU ROMS and from diferent operaters

I have backup from clockworkmod recovery. Should I share it? (I can do it after Jul, 18th)

Whats the problem with visiting the HTC site and getting the RUU for your device? I assume if they sell the phone there they have an RUU update for your country?

There's no RUU for the Gratia.

So if there is no RUU for the Gratia, then what we are talking about here is a custom ROM, which sounds like exactly the opposite of what these guys want. They want an official 2.2 update for their phone, that DOESN'T exist obviously.

i believe this is the leak of the gratia 2.2 rom.its before the asian rom was released.

No, they just want the original stock Gratia ROM. The ROM that comes on your phone when you purchase a new Gratia. It's not custom at all. But since there isn't a Gratia RUU, you can't just extract the ROM out of the RUU zip file and flash it like you could with the stock AT&T ROMs for example.
So the next best thing is to acquire a Nandroid backup that someone made immediately after S-OFFing their phone (but before altering the installed ROM), which is what the last few posters are looking for.

Re-read the OP, they're asking for froyo. Which doesn't exist for the Gratia. Check the HTC website yourself if you don't believe me.

The website is wrong. It's a typo/misprint/whatever. Every Gratia ever sold came with Android 2.2.

I searched a little bit and this is version that i need RUU_Liberty_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_2.37.405.10_Radio_47.54.35.20_7.13.35.13_release_164736_signed but i can't find it anywhere

I don't remember seeing the actual shipped Gratia RUU/ROM in the development section. However, ATTN1's Liberated Aria 2.2 FR008 is based on the shipped Gratia ROM, so I would suggest you flash that.

Hi,
I think there are some stock Gratia ROMS somewhere in this forum. But I wonder what you are trying to achieve and what you expect? The Liberated Aria 2.2.2 is not much different from a stock Gratia ROM. The major differences are that is uses a new kernel, is rooted, supports ext4 and some other advantages. But to be honest I don't think you will even know the difference! Or are you planning to sell your phone and want it back to factory defaults?

I have done some research about this Rom version because I didn't know this Rom version but it seams to be a South East Asia Rom version you have.
If this is correct, that's the reason way you can't access the new Rom on the HTC website because it's based on EU users.
so as in htc doesnt provides any support for the south east asian versions?

Thy are probably working on it; even the EU version don't support every language fore the moment.
Ow, I don't recommended to flash this EU version on a hard way. Some peoples have tray it and it isn't a good thing, trust me.

Yes, cooked Rom are more flexible!
It isn't complicate just read and follow the information that the Rom builder mention.

- Yes official HTC Rom updates are regional
- When will thy released a south asian Rom?? I don't know I don't work fore them, and there isn't a logic?
- Battery live is related to different point's; most influent is the Radio version.
I must be honest till yesterday personally I was only satisfy with the 1.07 radio I tray them all, just yesterday I tested the new 1.15 radio and I must say "thats the one!" fore my used, it depends of your location and in combination of the Rom
If you don't have a clou about a Rom take a look on the Artemis Rom (It's the one I used, and very happy with it) (You can find the link in my signature)
PS this is a suggestion, based on my experience but I'm sure if you ask 10 peoples with one is the best Rom you will get 7 different answer if it is not 10!

(US)HTC HD2 official rom upgrade Question

I bought a HTC HD2 in Taiwan and brought it back to the US. Trying to updating an official rom (android 2.2 later) to switch it to English.
The official site and some other people said to :::
Note: This update is not intended for use on T-Mobile(US) HTC HD2, and doing so may have undesired side effects.
what does this mean and can i download a european ROM for switch languages and update my phone????
Also can i get a link to a download. thanks

Also, just a quick mention, the official ROM wont be Android as the HD2 is a WinMo 6.5 device... So dont get your hopes up anyhow.
Pop into the HD2 Android NAND forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928) if you want an english Android ROM on the device, or you can start off by installing one onto your SD card

[Q] Questions for installing custom ROM on Asian Aria

Hi, I have an Asian HTC Aria (bought it on a recent trip to Hong Kong). I tried to upgrade to Froyo (2.2), but it keeps failing and displaying the Red Exclamation mark icon (I spoke to HTC but they said it was a phone destined for Zambia and therefore I would have to speak to them, but they where no help as they don't even have the Aria as a product.
I want to upgrade the Aria to Froyo so have decided to try using a custom ROM.
I'm new to this android custom ROM thingy and I've been reading avidly the forums for the last week or so, I think I'm ready to reflash my Aria but still have some small questions that I would be very grateful for answers for.
1. I want to create a nandroid backup without installing clockwork recovery so that I can revert to the stock (Asia) ROM should installing a custom ROM still not work, will this also back up hBoot, and if I use the unrevoked method of gaining root will I be able to take the phone exactly back to stock?
2. What exactly is a RUU, and will this one (probably) work for my Asian Aria?
Asia HK-RUU_Liberty_hTC_Asia_HK_CHT_1.35.708.4 or will my nandroid backup perform the same function?
3. I will probably want to use Liberated Aria Froyo Series FR008 12/13/2010 **Fully working OC Kernel**. Will this work with an Asian Aria even though its based on a European Rom? Is there anything else I need to be aware of for an Asian Aria?
4. When I install Liberated Aria Froyo Series FR008 12/13/2010 do I also need to install a new kernel? eg (FR008 Default or Hong Kong Shipping 2.2 Kernel) and what is the difference between these kernels?
Thanks heaps for your help guys,
Michael

1. A 'nandroid' backup is a function under ClockworkMod, which requires that you root and install CWM as a custom recovery. It makes a complete backup of the phone except for the HBOOT loader. It is very handy when you are in the process of trying out different ROMs. If you don't like one, just reboot into ClockworkMod and restore one of your backups.
2. RUU is an official HTC ROM Update Utility that will load a new ROM version to your phone. A RUU will usually include the ROM, HBOOT and Radio images. The only exception to this is that if you flash the Froyo 2.2 RUU with the newest HBOOT loader code, you will no longer be able to root your phone. Even if you install an older RUU with Android 2.1, it will not overwrite the
3/4. Liberated FR008 should work just fine. The default install has a custom kernel that allows you to overclock your phone's processor to run faster. The Hong Kong kernel is a stock HTC kernel that does not have overclocking ability.

I have full German on an exact phone / setup as you. Don't you have German as an option when you go to Language & Keyboard?
You should look into unlocking your phone's bootloader though, a whole new universe opens up..
