After I reinstall Archos Firmaware... The device rebooted, then I got stock at Recovery Menu... Everytime I reboot It goes back to Recovery menu... How can I revert back to Original Firmware. Everytime I click update Firmware its asking to connect to computer, when I plug it in... uts asking to formal the Internal. I just click format.. I format this to FAT 32... thenplace the 2.1.8 firmware.. when I click OK a messege says.. Update Failed: (1)... So I end up reseting and going back to Recovery menu.
are you sure the name of file you are placing is correct?
it has to be "firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos"
download again the aos on the archos website
I had the same problem you storage is formated to ext3 And if you computer formats it to fat32 it won't read anything from inernal, you have to format you system back to fat32 from recovery format system then set storage to fat32

I reformated the device and when I try to install the new fimware (No sd card) I get update failed (1) message. Now It boots only in recovery mode. HELP
Did you actually move the .aos file to your Archos when in recovery mode?
yes i copied and pasted it root of the storage
Did you totally format the device where it tells you "warning you will have to manually install firmware" or something like that? Are you trying with the latest firmware (2.0.71)?
Sent from my A101IT using Tapatalk
Fixed it. I did not know you had to have the charging cable in when you update from a full reformat.
Hey...I hope this is the right section to post this in but..
I have a rooted viewsonic G tablet Bootloader 1.2 and I have CWM on it...well I flashed GTabCombOver (latest version) and i was getting frustrated because everything I would download would go onto the INTERNAL memory not to my micro SD card so I went into settings and erased all the content on the internal SD card and rebboted my Gtablet but now it wont go past the android part...it goes past the birds but then restarts...idk what to do please help i can boot into recovery but dont know what to do
So you are saying that you erased the Internal memory, meaning you erased your rom? If that is the case, and you can boot into CWM, select the 'mounts and storage' option from the main menu. Plug in the usb cable to your PC where you have a copy of the ROM. Then in CWM select 'mount USB storage'. That will mount the internal sdcard to your PC, where you can copy it over. When finished copying, unmount from PC, then unmount in CWM and press back. Then you can proceed to reinstall the rom like before.
If you just erased the /sdcard directory you could try wipe data/factory reset first and see if that will work.
I can only boot to Recovery on my 101. Have tried to update the firmware (always says "update Failed (1)"), Repair System (Chkdsk ALWAYS formats the storage partition) and even Format System does not help. At the end of these steps, Windows ALWAYS wants to format my 101 so it can transfer files to it.
I have tried different cables, computers downloads (YES everything is spelled proper) and every trick that I could think of.
Please help.
SOLVED!!! Had to chage format type to vfat in the recovery menu, then i was able to update the firmware.
I started up my Gtab today (running ICS 4.0.x), and it keeps popping up stating "Encryption unsuccessful
Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result the data on your tablet is no longer accessible.
To resume using your tablet, you must perform a factory reset. When you setup your tablet after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account."
WTF?
I tried booting into recovery mode, but it hangs after stating "Recovery key detected, Booting recovery kernel image"
That's all it does....
Any suggestions on how to correct this?
Thanks ahead of time...

1. As the message says you'll most probably have to do a "wipe data/factory reset" in CWM. Run the command in this post.
2. Which version of CWM do you have?
Im not certain what version CWM is but it was the most up to date at the time. I cant access CWM as it sits now.
Should I try to use NVflash to rerun the Full_Stock_NVFlash_CWM_5504_Touch-1, just as I did before I installed ICS?...then reinstall the rom?
I can not access CWM...it locks up after stating "booting recovery kernel image"

The usual reason for that error message on ICS is a corrupted /data partition. To fix it you'll have to do either a "wipe data/factory reset" or a repartition the internal SD card in CWM.

The most common reason for that is
a) using the wrong version of CWM for the bootloader installed on the system--ie. using a recovery containing a 1.2 kernel on a 1.1 bootloader or vice-versa.
OR
b) a corrupted recovery partition.
To fix both on ICS--esp. if you've used the nvflash package in the TeamDRH ICS OP--try reloading only CWM-5.5.0.4Beta15 using nvflash.
Can you tell me what you were doing before all this happened? I can understand the /data partition becoming corrupt, or, the recovery kernel being the wrong one (or the partition being bad), but, I can't figure out how both can happen at the same time without something explicitly being done to cause it.
Not sure if it helps but I am also getting this error, I will update as I attempt to troubleshoot.
ROM: G_Harmony_ICSv1.5(120)(SuperCharged) (4.0.4)
CWM: 2.5.1.1-bekit-0.8
I got both errors but the second was solved by unplugging my computers USB cable from the g-tab.
(I can not access CWM...it locks up after stating "booting recovery kernel image") SOLVED
Steps:
1. From the settings picked factory reset loose all data and SD card data.
2. Reboot to recovery (CWM).
3. Formatted the internal SD card and ExSD card using CWM.
4. Mounted SD card on computer using USB cable connected to the G-Tab.
5. Let windows format the SD card. (Was this bad?)
6. Loaded ROM.zip file over to SD card from computer.
7. wipe data/factory reset.
8. wipe cache partition.
9. install zip from SD card -> coose zip from sdcard -> G_Harmony_ICSv1.5(120)(SuperCharged).zip
10. Install.
11. Reboot.
12. Error screen "Encryption unsuccessful Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result the data on your tablet is no longer accessible...." "Press this button to do a factory reset"
13. Press the button to the same results.

UPDATE 1:
When I did a rewipe i found that when i did the data wipe is said:
-- Wiping data...

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk3p2
(No such file or directory)
Error mounting /data/!
Skipping format...
Formatting CACHE:...
Formatting SDEXT:...

Formatting SDCARD:/android_secure...

Could it be that when I used my computer to format the SD card I did it wrong?
UPDATE 2:
I was browsing around the CWM options and I found:
advanced -> Partition SD Card
Click to collapse
So I did that and then a data wipe again, and this time it said:
-- Wiping data...
Formatting DATA...
<<NOTE THE LACK OF ERRORS>>
Formatting CACHE:...
Formatting SDEXT:...
No app2sd partition found. Skipping format of /sd-ext.
Formatting SDCARD:/android_secure...

I am hoping things should work now, I picked 2GB with a 0MB swap.
UPDATE 3:
Ok... should have figured that deleted my SD card files including my ROM "G_Harmony_ICSv1.5(120)(SuperCharged).zip" so I mounted it and copied it over again.
(I also did some mounting and unmounted and may have lost it there.)
UPDATE 4:
IT WORKS!! fixed, must have been because I formatted out the data partition, but CWM fixed this for me!
I hope this helps others with the same issue.
Okay. Here's the thing. Let me try to break the story down:
I tried to flash the MIUI ROM. So basically, I followed the instructions to the best of my ability, but when it was time to flash the ROM itself, I got a Status 7, and installation aborted. When I rebooted, the screen was stuck on the Mi logo (which was peculiar since the installation aborted). It was taking a long time, so I assumed that, yep, bootloop.
So what I did was I flashed stock ROM using odin. Just the stock rom (ie, you have to repartition before flashing the miui rom). But one think I noticed before I flashed the ROM, was after I repartition through ODIN, the USB storage was 0.00b/0.00b. Several bootloops after, I finally got my phone working, but this time I can't access my USB storage. When I go to the task manager, it says 0.00b/0.00b. When I plug it in my PC, the only drive I see is the SD card (when there should be two, right?). PLUS, when I boot the phone and go to the media files (example, music app, gallery app etc.) it says I have no SD card inserted. When I do.
On screen, the notification says the USB storage is something, like unsupported and when I tap it, it says I have to format my USB storage. When I do tap format, it says that it's still checking the USB storage, and the notification comes up again. If it's imporatant, I also tried formatting the USB storage via CWM, but it says cannot mount /emmc. I ALSO can't find my phone on my PC now. The GT-I900 doesn't come up in my drives when I plg it in
I've tried flashing the stock PIT file, but to no avail. Please help. I just want a faster phone (hopefully via MIUI) or
Oh, and please bear with me. I'm a complete noob.
After re-partitioning, you need to wipe the partitions (/system /data (sdcard0). Make Backups and don't forget to flash a Rom/Kernel after wiping /system, because else your recovery will be lost.
I'll try to help you since I did installing MIUI v6 ROM by @blackra1n which also require resizing system partition.

Status 7 could be possible you were using older custom recovery when installing the ROM.

So, you were repartition using PIT file then install MIUI— failed, then now go back to STOCK ROM (stock firmware?), right?
Did you do repartitioning again to stock PIT version before do flashing the stock ROM?

Please don't do something careless with /emmc as it might risking your EFS which may loosing your phone info such as IMEI, WIFI, and other radio related data. Please try to repeat the procedure back to flashing stock ROM:
1) Turn on your phone and boot to download mode (home+volume down+power). Connect your phone to PC through USB cable. Run Odin on your PC.
2) Press PIT button and select the stock PIT. Make sure the "repartition" checkbox is ticked on Odin.
3) Press PDA or AP and select your suitable recovery tar file. CWM or Philz recovery should be fine but avoid using the very older ones. Make sure the "reboot" checkbox is UNCHECKED because we don't want the phone reboot to system when flashing is done.
4) Press start button on Odin. Wait for awhile, then if Odin said it's all done, disconnect USB cable and reboot your phone to recovery mode (home+volume up+power). Optional but recommended, keep pressing until first Samsung logo appear, then release power button. Release two remaining buttons if recovery screen appear.
5) Assuming you're using CWM, go to "mount and storage" then choose "format /sdcard0" or "format /internal-sdcard". If prompted for file system format, choose "FAT32" if possible. If not in the list, just select "default".
6) Optional, to make sure the internal storage can be recognized by PC (Windows), still in CWM go to "mount and storage" then select "mount mass storage". Connect your phone to PC and see if Windows recognize your sdcard. If so, open properties dialog for this sdcard and check if it is formatted as FAT or FAT32. If not, right click on sdcard and choose "format". Quick format should be fine, leave all settings to its default.
7) Now, before installing the stock ROM, make sure to format phone's partitions. From CWM, select "mount and storage" then choose "format /data", "format /cache", and "format /system". Next, you may install the stock ROM or else.
It adviced to remove your external sdcard prior perform the steps above to avoid confusion and prevent your external sdcard reformatted accidentally. Also, I hope you were making backups for /efs partition.
Have a try, and good luck as you may need it! [emoji1]
