X10 Suddenly Stopped Working - What do? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my Xperia X10 was freezing up so I turned it off and it suddenly stopped working and now will not turn on.
I unplug the battery and hold down the power on button although the red led flashes. I've had it in the charger although nothing is happening.
What is the problem, the battery wasn't dead when I was using it and it was working perfectly fine before this.
What's wrong and how can I fix it.
thanks
EDIT:
I took out the battery and put it back in and I held down the power button and it vibrates but nothing happens.
What;s wrong??

tell me more about your problem recently you change the rom of your x10 or something? maybe you can try make a restore with flashtool
P.D sorry if i have a bad orthography but i don´t know speak in english so good

Try pull battery out for at least 30s. After that put battery back and start ur phone.

this problem already met other people, flash the firmware can help you (by SEUS or FlashTool)

Try to remove sim-card first, then put the battery back into the phone, then press power button again. After that, u can turn off the phone and put the sim back in, then turn the phone on again.
My XPERIA x10a has had the same problem. You can reflash it with 2.1 ROM using SEUS but the problem ***will definitely happen again***.

This is I believe 100th thread about this.
1) search before post
2) pull the battery off, open SEUS and reflash/repair your phone.

[Q] What does three red led blinks mean?

Hi all.
My phone seems to be broken. It's almost completely dead. When I press the power button the led blinks red three times. When I connect it to power it blinks red once every other second. Anyone knows what this red blinking means? I'm sure it's a code for something...
I've tried removing sd and sim and also disconnecting and connecting the battery cable with no result. Anything else I could try or is it just a matter of sending it away and being without phone for some weeks?
/Daniel
Battery is completly drained. Charge it about half an hour and should work.
Yeah, I've been pretty scared too when this happened for first time to me. It is really weird behavior. Atleast it is working again.

Yep, you're right. 20 minutes and the phone came alive.
Is it just me or did they completely miss this out in the manual? Could have been worth mentioning if you ask me...

i've had this too... is it ok to charge via a PC or does it have to be directly from the charger?

HELP
my phone can´t charge anyway.... i let it charging in the wall during all the morning and "nothing"... even a minimum led light...
so i connected to the usb in my pc and the led started blinking once in each three seconds...
blink + 1 + 2 + 3sec AND REPEAT
so... i let it in usb for maybe 40 minuts... and.... nothing again... nothing changed and the led continuous to blink at the same way.
so, i tried to plug again in the wall, and no led light, but suddently led blinked this way:
blink / blink / blink + 1 + 2sec and repeat three times so stops, no more lights, and it happend again if i tryied to power on the phone...
and now, nothing happens.... no lights... even i fi try to power on, even if i plug in the wall...
mini pro is dead.
i don´t know what to do
tried pressing home + power buttons for minuts and nothing
tried pressing back button for minuts and nothing
tried to connect to PC companium and nothing, no phone connected
tried using SEUS but it can´t connect to the phone as it has no battery charge
any ideas.... please?
and let me know... is this any issue from the ROM? i just installed CM7Mini V7... it´s the first time i had the battery drained... so i ask... if there is a way to awake my mini, will the same issue happen again ????? I can´t forget the battery draining?????
HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLPPPPP
3 blinks mean not enough battery energy to boot. Maybe your USB port is just brocken...
Try using FlashTool to flash a stock ROM to see if it works, because with SEUS first you have to connect your phone to be recognised and afteerwards updated or repaired. Maybe FlashTool is the solution...
I have made a post with instructions and links to flash with FlashTool. Just search for
2.1.1.A.0.6 GREEK .ftf
Another possible solution is what guys have mentioned above... To let it charge while it seem dead and it'll be alive in some minutes.

It really doesn't matter... I have tried almost every single ROM. And dryed the battery completelly, but I was always able to charge it.

I have a same problem now. Even when I have my Xperia Z on charge now , the red LED doesn't light up. I hope this works for me.

Totally bricked X10

Hi there.
Got my X10 bricked.
How that happened:
Yesterday put my phone on vibrate/silent mode, shile was at cinema. Battery was about 15%. Later on I ffound that phone is off, thought it happened because of low battery. When I got home I've putted it on charge. Red light flashed few times. After about 2 hours I looked at it and no light was there. Phone didn't turn on. Took battery from another X10 (fully charged) and nothing happened. Tried to connect it to PC to reflash it, but no green LED appeared and PC told me, that unrecognized device found. After few PC restards even this disappeared. Just silence. None of buttons pressing configurations helped.
Tried with no SIM and SD cards. No change.
I have latest ROM on it and xRecovery.
Any ideas of what I could do?
hey dude one thing for ya.. you can never brick your x10 its not those old phones it a computer based/linux phone.. If you go through the forums you can find the info of how to unbrick x10 .. try Pc companion or go to sony website and try SEUS( Sony Ericsson Update service) it'll fix your phone up.ill do my best to post a link for ya if i can find it soon
here u go dude. read through this link and you'll fix your phone..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828398
Thanks. But thing is that phone doesn't go in flash mode. No green LED is on. On first try I got "unrecognized device" from XP, now it's just silent on phone connection.
i think its more in hardware related because as far as i know eh you cant brick your phone. and battery drainage is far related to bricking..so i guess its a hardware problem..maybe you sat on it or something..because bricking is moreon software related.
try this
*remove the battery
*plugin charger to your x10
*hold the power button while inserting your battery.
just give it a shot..
It was in my wifes bag while that happened, but she has her phone just beside mine, so not shure it was because of some pressing on it or whatever.
Tried what you told me - no result. Tried pressing/holding power bttn before, while and after battery insertion.
Again, there was red LED at first, when I've plugged in charger yesterday, but later on it disappeared. I've charged my battery on another phone. Now it nearly full.
Try all solutions before u send ur phone for repair. I had to send my in to ATT and they said it was probably a hardware issue. So i hate to say that but i had the same thing. Sorry to tell u that my friend.that red light is a killer.

my x10 will only vibrate and the led blinks green, but the phone won't start.
tries SEUS, pc companion, pc suite, flash tool. nothing helped.
any suggestions?
Well, mine won't even vibrate.
Voelker45, so you got replacement or they repaired your phone? Could you tell me wich part it was?
I bought my phone on ebay, so no way to send it back. And it was in August 2011, so anyway, I have to work that thing myself.

Install SEUS and run it. Select x10 and it will install drivers on your phone. Then plug in your phone and try to repair.
As I wrote before, x10 does not enters flash mode, so no way to reflash.
And looks like it's really hardware issue. Something with powering.
Ok, thanks everyone. Since I bought it on ebay and it would be unreal to send it back to seller and we don't have SE service centers here, I'll fight for my phone till the end)))

Strange thing happened:
Connected x10 to charger without battery. No LED turned on. Left it for a few mins, pluged in battery. No result. Took usb plug out and ! phone turned on. As it was without SIM cars, I turn it off, took battery out, putted SIM in, battery in and... again, it's not turning on. Tried repeating that way - nothing. Must be some hardware connection problem near battery. Will disassemble phone tomorrow.

Me again)
Strange things keep happen.
Here is the story:
Finally, got some star shaped screws yesterday and took apart my phone (thnx to McKebapp).
Non of IC were with readable names) So later on, after few hours of serching I found Xperia X10 scheme files (!!!). So the most probable faulty part would be Qualcomm PM7540 - power distribution IC.
Anyway, it was to hard for me to understand all that stuff in scheme, so I gave up(.
Assembled my phone back again. And just to... em.... have it done, lets say, I took out battery, pluged X10 in charger, pluged battery in. But it doesn't turned on again. So I took USB plug out abd - tadaaa - screen lightened.
Waited till phone loaded, turned it off again, pluged SIM and SD cards in, turned it on again - and it did! It turned on!
So, night passed and it still works.
Btw, yesterday I've rebooted it few times and it still was ok.
I don't know what was the problem, it could be bad contact, but there is no wires between battery and power distributing IC.
Anyway, X10 is back again)

"Power Failure" :- X10 is really starting to annoy me now!!"

Am having really bad trouble with my X10. Ive got no idea what is causing the problem and its really starting to annoy me now as its been happening for a while , if anybody can try and explain to me what I can do to diagnose the problem.
I charged my phone to 100% today 5 hours later it was on 50% that was with heavy use so that was fine .. 10 minutes later My phone switched it self off , After turning on my Phone the battery level was about 18% and I noticed that my phone stated that last unplugged went from 5 hours to 2 mins when it wasnt plugged in about 5 minutes later my phone battery was dead.
"On a dead battery" I charge my phone and it must take about 15 minutes for it to come back on before it starts charging, I simple get a red slowly steady blinking light . but when myphone does eventually come on It charges from 1%...
So if anybody can help me because its really frustrating now !!
Tried software restore & battery calibration Neither worked
Thanks,
craig
Have you tried the S.E. support for this strange problem that still hasn't been fixed. Have you also tried to ''wipe battery stats in xRecovery'' and then in SEUS software repair.
Try this method and tell me if it worked. (Before doing charge battery to 100%!)
Boot into xRecovery
Advanced
Wipe Battery Stats
Start SEUS
Let it ask to connect phone
Put usb in phone and computer (while your still in xrecovery)
Go to reboot phone
Press the home button and immediately after that press on your back button to let your phone connect in flash mode
SEUS will install software
Tell me if it helped.

Mysteriously bricked Active

Hi guys,my brother has the active, and today he just found it dead in his pocket. No turn on,no lights, just a small vibration bump when holding the power key.Any clues?
I've changed battery,SEUS won't detect the phone. However,Flashtool detects a SE phone when I'm holding the volume key.
It was never rooted, just stock firmware.
Any clues?Please help

This thread should go in general not development.
Now i would say that if he never modified the phone and if it still have warranty to take it to a sony ericsson service center that would be his best option.
Try taking the battery out for a few minutes, and by a few i mean something like 5 minutes, then try turning it on.

Remember to try to turn it on, while the battery is out... that will help to drain the capacitors for energy.

just kidding i think there's something wrong from factory and if he don't want to take it back for me the next step will be to try and flash generic firm using wotan server.
Because smaller brother's tend to lie, and since this is a waterproof phone, before sending it to get fixed, make sure that the humidity stickers on the inside of the phone and on the battery are still white and not pink/red.

What? You dont have to unscrew anything to see them. The one on the phone is just on top of the SD card, and the battery one is visible with the battery inserted, from the gap that the Sim card hole has.
Be cool guys,I've "interrogated" him,and I don't think he done anything.
Stickers are fine, and the phone is just 3 months old.Well,it's going to service on Monday. It's just so strange to die like that.
By the way, yesterday in the evening it started to blink red.I've put it on charger and the led soon became yellow, but hte phone still won't turn on.I've replaced the battery with a fresh 100% one from my X8,and still no effect. The battery from the Active is also fine,my X8 works with it,and it's about 70%.
What happens after the vibration during the power button?

[Q] Overheating problem

a few days ago, I installed the CM9.1 v6 from scritch's thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987130
at first, i used the kernel v5 and it was working fine. 3 days ago, i downloaded and flashed the v6 kernel. 2 days ago, I left my phone charging at 47% for an hour or so, when i came back, i saw a black screen and the screen as well as battery was extremely hot(around 35-40 degrees). I tried switching it on but it showed only the kernel logo 'X10 never dies' and then again black screen after flashing blue led 3 times. I waited for 5 minutes. again it got extremely hot. I pulled out the battery and kept it aside for 5 minutes to cool down. after that i tried several times to switch it on but every time i got the same problem and i had to remove the battery to cool it down. at night, i kept the battery out from the phone only. I thought it would work in the morning. But yesterday morning I couldn't even switch it on. I connected it to the charger(an original SE charger with original USB cable). After connecting to the charger also, it heated up instantly but there was no display on the screen and it wasn't charging. I have been trying to charge it since yesterday(using charger and connecting with pc also) but it gets EXTREMELY HOT every time without charging or switching on. Please help me!
What should I do???

Tips to connect your phone in flashmode if there is no green light when you are trying to connect it to flashtool:
1. Press back button while plugging it into your computer USB port.
2. Do not release back button and press power button once while you are pressing back button.

I charged the battery fully using an external battery charger. When i connect it to flashtool, the green led glows but as soon as i select the file to flash, the led comes off and it starts heating again. I tried using Sony Update Service also to repair it, but as I click on next after connecting it, the same happens, green led goes off and it starts heating up.
Please SOMEBODY help me!!!!
I downloaded the Stock firmware from the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749426
I downloaded the India Generic Kit 1237-0692. I tried flashing it through flashtool but between 14-15%, the flash mode just goes off and the phone gets disconnected. Now, the condition is worse than before. Earlier, I was able to switch the phone on and see the 'Xperia Never Dies' screen from scritch's kernel. But now, nothing is there. Everytime I try to flash generic firmware either thru flashtool or SEUS, the green led goes off and it gets disconnected.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME FIX MY PHONE. I HAVE NO OTHER PHONE TO USE.

You should select the FTF file first then you can connect your phone when the flashtool ask you to connect your phone...
your steps are wrong... the same thing goes to me too when i connect the phone before i select my desired firmware file...
please attach your flashtool log
Here are some suggestions my friends note had a similar problem:
1.Try using a new battery maybe the battery fails as it spoilt and can't handle strain(my friend had this problem)
2.Since your phone won't do anything u can try go to a store and say I don't know what happened and ask for help
3.Did you try entering recovery and flashing a Rom or nandroid backup. Your question is not very clear.
Please let us all know what u did to solve the issue.
