Hi,
I purchased an HTC Mozart in a store in Israel and I got a T-Mobile branded phone with only English and German keyboard.
I know there is no official Hebrew keyboard but I don't want the T-Mobile ROM, I would like to have an unbranded ROM so I will get updates from Microsoft and won't be tied to T-Mobile updates.
I'm a noobe in this whole area of ROM and flashing, and I need help understanding the basics.
I saw the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898900 which listed a lot of unbranded ROMs for Mozart phone.
Some questions:
1. How do I find out what is my phone's CID?
2. What will an unbranded ROM allow me to do? Will I get updated directly from Microsoft without T-Mobile?
3. I suppose I can wait until the Hebrew language is official supported and only then get a ROM with the Hebrew language. Is it a right assumption or will our ROMs get the aditional languages as well?
I have this firmware and radio versions:
Firmware: 2250.09.12505.111 (--> 1.25.111.05)
Radio: 5.50.09.18_22.24.50.09U
Thanks,
Raanan
I swear there was a thread by ansar who describied a way to unbrand Mozart without all this Gold Card (and especially Y-cable) hassle. I can't find it for some reason anymore.
With regard to your question 2, I suspect you'll get two things after unbranding - you'll get updates faster, and you will be able to flash ROMs that support your language when it's added. You won't see Hebrew keyboard on your T-Mo De phone till cows come home.
Now if only I could find that thread...
I think you mean this thread:

I have a S740 with orange uk firmware, is it possible to install original firm from HTC as I have moved away from orange and the orange firmware is all geared around orange services and branding.
If so where can I get hold of it?
new to this so be gentle with your replies
to be honest we really need a hardspl for the rose before flashing other roms
unfortunately no one has taken to the idea

I have a few questions for you. I am new to all this (Android), so if you can please bear with me.
I live in India (basically, Asia) and I am buying the HTC Desire tomorrow, either from a Grey Market or through an authorized dealer (it JUST got released here).
It will have the stock 2.1 installed on it (it could be anything: generic(1.21.405.2) or even some random, Asian country version 1.21.720.4 (India's))
Basically, my question is,
1. Can I install "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00 . 32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe" on my cell REGARDLESS of the version of 2.1?
It will be unlocked and unbranded, BTW.
2. Everything will remain official, right? And I will get future updates OTA?
3. I'm assuming I don't need a Gold Card since it's unbranded. Right?
4. What are the risks? Can I brick my phone if something goes wrong?
Thank you so much, everyone!

hi,
I recently got my HD2-man what a wonderfull phone-the screen is definitaly the bizz.
I want to upgrade the standard rom "1.66.521.1 (76641)WWE" to the new 3.14 Rom; when entering my serial on the HTC support site for the update it gives an error. Will I brick the phone if I download the WWE ROM from XDA?
The service provider is VODACOM and I'm in South Africa, serial number is SH06PNW01693
thanks in advance
no it won't brick it, but it won't flash either cossounds like you have a provider locked phone.
you can either use hspl2 and forget about the 3.14 roms until your provider releases a rom, or make a goldcard.(dont say "how do i make a goldcard, it's well documented )
thanks for the clarification
Is there a specific reason why certain ROMS are available on certain "country" sites on htc support eg the WWE ROM is available in the UK location for download but not on the middle east and africa location. although it is the world wide english ROM? or am I missing something?
the phones have two locks, region and carrier. english is available on most regions roms, just not always. depends on the region and i guess also what the carrier specifies when they order their rom locked (rom locked short for carrier locked) roms.
short answer is i don't know why.
I currently have RUU_Leo_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe but since I have a lot of problems with my Leo with that ROM (e.g. sometimes it won't charge at all until I soft-reset it, some notifications like for example PockeTwit are not working, WiFi doesn't work probably most of the times even when I'm just a few foot steps away from the access point I'm connecting to, the phone suddenly doesn't recognize the MicroSD card anymore after a Soft-Reset) I wonder if my phone's hardware is actually broken or if it might be just a problem with the ROM.
Based on my experiences with other HTC phones I previously had (Touch 2, Touch Diamond 2) I think that with HTC the operator branded ROMs are better optimized and tested when it comes to stability and performances than the generic unbranded (retail) ones.
So now I'm looking for an operator branded WWE ROM for my European 512Leo. I would go with the latest O2 ROM but unfortunately that is for the UK and so it has that stupid EU imposed volume capp and I really don't want that. Of course the T-Mobile US ROM won't work on my 512Leo so the only alternative I could think about is the Telstra Australia ROM but unfortunately that is pretty old
So does anybody know any other official branded Non-EU WWE stock ROMs I could try or is that Telstra one really the only one for my "special needs"
Thanks
karlmueller
I figured out that "RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_3.14.531.1_Radio_Signed_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_2_Ship.exe" works on my EU Leo perfectly (when flashed with Gold Card) - so no need to find a different ROM anymore
thx

Also, no need for goldcard, hspl will do that for you no problem.
Hi,
My mom bought her Desire X from an online deal here in Belgium a few months ago (iBood).
We were caught by surprise when the device was delivered and turned out to be a German T-Mobile branded device with a bunch of bloatware apps!
The system language has been altered to Dutch (what we speak here in the upper part of Belgium), but still some German keeps popping up throughout the system and its apps.
I've found the RUU for the unbranded, unlocked European device, which would be perfect for her phone.
Is there any way I can flash this unbranded RUU on the branded device, by changing the CID for instance?
And if so, how can I do this if this is at all possible...

Unfortunately you can't change the CID.
However, you can root the device and flash a custom ROM that will let you select your preferred language.
